Question to the cag community. Dynasty Warrior, yeah or nay? Never played any of these games but love a good hack and slash...
i think they're definitely worth a shot. you'll know quickly whether you hate the genre... or absolutely love it. i think they're super fun -- massive slaughtering of hoards of enemies, with the occasional 'boss' thrown in. Some tactical considerations on harder levels as you decide which bases to attack in what order and give commands to other heroes, etc.

Combat is fluid and well designed, -if- you don't mind the hoard based approach. It's not Ninja Gaiden, it's more 'kill 100 enemies with a single swing'.

I haven't played the one currently on sale yet, but I definitely think the genre is worth $10 to see if you dig it or not.

I went for the $14.99 version of the Pinball Arcade bundle and I'm satisfied.
I was going to pass on the Pinball, but I got the demo of Pinball Arcade and Zen 2 just to see if I'm at all interested. Didn't realize that I would be and got the bundle myself. Sony knew I had a craving that even I didn't know I had.

I've been playing Ace Combat Infinity online for the past hour now.  How come these kids can't do something good with their hacking abilities?  A billion dollars in everyone's account would have been nicer than their majorly annoying  and feeble attempt at permanently crashing the Playstation Network.

Yeah same here, I also got the Pinball Arcade deal (US$14.99 Season 1) this week. Also bought the Pro upgrade with the tutorials that show how to play the tables, lots of info I wouldn't have figured out on my own.

For those reading along, Pinball Arcade has tables modeled after real pinball games, complete with accurate art and sound effects.

Zen Pinball 2 has fun but more fantasy oriented tables, often which have gimmicks or effects impossible in real life. Both are fun, but each has a different focus.

Spoke too soon. Won't let me sign in either. Hackers are messing with my money now. Wanted to trade in my physical copy of tales of graces f and buy the digital one.

It isn't hacking. It's flooding the Sony servers with packets/traffic.

Hacking is what happened a few years ago when psn was down for a month.

Because they are more likely to be script kiddies than hackers. ;) To launch a DDoS, all you need is access to a botnet that can make the attack.

Have you guys been reading this stuff about the DDOS attack today?  Apparently the loser or losers behind it also sent out a bomb threat to a plane carrying the president of Sony Online.  The plane had to be redirected and grounded while everything was sorted out.  http://techcrunch.com/2014/08/24/playstation-network-suffers-ddos-attack-hackers-claim-to-have-grounded-soe-presidents-plane/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000591

DDOS attacks are one thing.  Making bomb threats to airplanes in a post 9-11 society is gonna land your ass in jail for a looooooong time.

If you want only hack and slash, I wouldn't get the "Empires" versions of the games. However, those throw in some management elements and are very fun, if you want some variety. Personally, I like the Empires ones because you can usually make your own characters.

yeah, ddos attacks are pretty much unpreventable. it would be like if 100 people decided to start calling your phone constantly. there are some ways to deal with it once it starts, but that's about it.

the hack was more of a quick in and out through a security hole. it was down for a month because sony (and specialized security firms) had to first identify how the hack happened and what data was put at risk, and then they had to rebuild security from the ground up. which is why I always think it's odd when people worry about psn security... it's likely far better than most other online sites now. (and i'm still rocking all the cards i had back then, nothing critical was taken anyway).

Jailtime? They'd be lucky to not end up in Guanaco (or whatever the place in Cuba is called), without a trial

Same. Picked up sly with no problems. I'm a huge platformer can but never played any sly games. Looking forward to them especially at this decent price.

is Cursed Crusade worth the 3 buks? I remember i played a demo for a game that was pretty bad a while back but dont think it was that one.. it was a templar that formed some bond with a vampire or something and you switched off between the two. Is this game at least better than that one?

First Light is tomorrow. I'm excited. I don't usually care for "DLC" (or whatever they're calling this), but Festival of Blood is excellent. Still need to beat that, actually.

I'm indifferent about trophies but this having a platinum leads me to believe there's quite a bit of content, too. Hopefully they flesh out her story more since she was so undercooked in Second Son. Great character. Neon also had the best karmic move, though I still going with video as the overall best.

Gahh, I had a cool .gif to go along with this but can't figure out how to embed it.

Does Dragon's Crown take a while to warm up? I'm an hour or two in, and I thought I'd love the game, but so far it seems a little slow/repetitive and button-mashy. I chose a Fighter, so maybe that has something to do with it.
Try the elf. I took her to level 99. The fighter was on the bottom of my list.

Yeah the primarily melee characters suck. I got it at launch and was all excited and started with the Dwarf or whatever and did not like the game really at all. I wanted to give it a second chance and so I went with the Elf and it made the game 50x better. So much more fun to play that way.

Unfortunate though that they couldnt capture the same fun with the two standard melee characters.

Wizard is a lot of fun too.

I think this is the one that you played the demo back then. I did and I'm gonna stay far away from it. I don't remember one good thing about this game. One second thought, if you have friend to play with (split screen), maybe fun ...to see your friend suffer? ;)

Why don't you get the $15 pack then? Alternatively, you can get them for Wii for $3 and $5 from Gamestop, or on iOS and Android, you can play them for free until the first (lowest) high score.

Yeah like I said all the melee characters are lame. Wizard and Sorceress are a blast too.

Just avoid the melee characters if you can and just have them be AI controlled characters.
Did you try all their skills? They are not just cosmetic like magic spells. The dwarf, for example, can pick up and throw enemies. The Amazon has a risk-reward system where the closer she is to death, the more damage she does. I thought the magic classes were kind of annoying because it makes it hard to see what's going on. I think I might even prefer the D&D system where magic spells freaking pause the game.

Is Pinball Arcade worth the $20? Seems like it's still way too expensive to me, but I do love Pinball games..
I spent $40 on the PS4 disc when it came out so $15 and $20 are definitely recommended. Not to mention I previously bought the Williams and Gottlieb collections on 360 and Wii, respectively. I'm still thinking about re-buying season 1 so I can have them on the Vita.

Go big or go home, if I'm going to drop $15 on these tables I might as well get the pro upgrade too. I'll probably go ahead and snag them for Wii too from Gamestop (thanks for the tip on that) but they don't have trophies so I'd rather play them on my Vita first. I've had the iOS app forever, but the table lockouts are annoying. I refuse to pay for IAPs, I don't trust developers not to yank my licenses or pull some BS and try to make me rebuy content.

I've got those as well for 360, forgot that they had released a PS4 disc collection. I would buy that instead since I prefer physical but it sounds like it doesn't have cross-buy downloads for PS3/Vita with it. Too bad.

Yeah I got really far with the Dwarf and just did not like it. I completely forgot about the Amazon actually and she actually is the best of the three primary melee characters in my mind.

What? It's the same on XBL or PSN, they're just called DLC and not IAP. There already has been games and DLC yanked on PSN and Xbox so you're not better off there. That's just how it is with digital.

The pro versions are also not available for every table, FYI. If I read someone's explanation earlier about the pro tables correctly, the Wii collections are already the pro tables. Half the tables in the season one pass are already in those collections and you obviously get more than that. I'm tempted to buy the season pass too but I think I'll just stick with the Wii version and play the tables I don't have on mobile. I'm only out $8 and I can play all of the tables.

Sorry, I meant spefically iOS IAPs, there's virtually no control by Apple when it comes to how licenses are handled and I've seen developers pull sneaky stuff in the past. Content on PSN/XBLA are under Sony/Microsoft control. They aren't nearly as likely to pull shinanigans in those ecosystems. I can, with only a very small number of exceptions, redownload any purchased content on PSN/XBLA whether it has been pulled for purchase from their respective marketplaces or not. This is not the case on iOS, once it has been pulled you can't redownload it (as far as I have found) so you need to hang on to your files for dear life.

I'll likely buy Pinball Arcade Season 1 PS4 non pro. I've played the PC version..just demos of the season 1 tables, is the PS4 a big improvement presentation wise and possibly physics wise as well? I like pinball games, but i'm mainly for real pinball tables, though I do like the fantasy type ones as well.

If you think the Fighters are boring, then you're not picking the right skills. I'm taking my knight to level 99. I thought the Elf is one of the weakest, so maybe I'm not using the right skills. But the Wizard is definitely the most powerful. He's the only one who would do 100,000 damage in one hit, but he's difficult to start out with. I can't wait to take him to level 99 as well after power-leveling up to around 30 first so that I have some useful skill points to use.

I don't think the pro is needed unless you have the extra money lying around. I just buy the regular tables and never think twice. PS4 plays very nice. Heck, the vita version plays fantastic. I have it on both and usually end up playing the vita version just due to mobility.

And it sounds like you know this already, but Pinball Arcade is for the 'real' tables. Zen is for the fantasy ones. Both have their fans. I greatly prefer Pinball Arcade.

I'm also in the Pinball Arcade side... being able to replay some of the tables I really loved as a kid is a big factor in considering which pinball game to stay loyal to. I have Zen Pinball 2 (on 360) with a bunch of tables also to compare. The ball physics dont feel right to me after playing Pinball Arcade. The tables are very interesting, I just prefer the real tables on pinball arcade. On it's own, Zen Pinball is a very good pinball game.

The pro pack is really not that interesting, even for the additional $5, I'd skip it. I wished they had season 2 and 3 sales though. Dying to find out when they will have Addams Family released.

Yup, despite IOS being so dominant and having been around for years now, it's still the wild west in this regard. I don't trust them either - games getting patched in IAP were the worst offenders. I washed my hands of IOS gaming last year and am extremely happy. I (probably?) pay 'more' to play vita games, but the overall experience is worth every penny. So many of those $1ish games were just gussied up IAP headaches. There were some truly great games, but it felt like I spent all my time looking for them. I miss the bigger screen of my ipad sometimes, but I definitely prefer having a dpad and buttons over a larger screen.

I think you quoted the wrong person since I prefer melee classes. I can't figure out how to have fun with Elf either. I like the skill where she shoots arrows into the sky and they rain down on the enemy, but everyone kills the enemies too quickly before the arrows hit. You also have to be pretty close to hit them.
