it's all fake. not real. fake. 1s and 0s.

most gamers, if genre sales are worth a damn, love shooting fake people in the head. headshots by the millions. but because i admit i don't like killing fake harmless animals in games i'm the one that's fucked up?

and for the record, i don't 'enjoy running down people' in GTA. However, I do recognize that doing so leads to police chases, and that police chases are fun... and they in turn lead to tanks, which are even more fun. Is it 'fucked up' that senseless violence leads to fun in GTA? perhaps. But it is what it is, and it's all fake anyway. But that doesn't mean i have enjoy killing an innocent creature in another game.

who said anything about my 'heart aching'. I simply stated that i thought the colossi were beautiful and majestic, and did absolutely nothing aggressive towards my character. killing them for no reason would have just felt wrong to me.

it makes me so happy that mentioning this here gets me called 'fucked up' and other terms.

i'm out. later guys, it's been real. i might be back, but seriously? i'm rather disgusted at the way some of you are acting over me mentioning off-handedly that i thought the developers of SotC did such a good job with their creatures that i didn't want to destroy them, especially since they were peaceful.
For the record I know a lot of people who felt bad playing SotC because the 'hero' really does just go around killing peaceful, majestic creatures because he's told to do it, and then the way he absorbs some kind of evil essence each time (it's been a loooong time since I've played/seen it) makes it even more unsettling. It's a very dark game, and I think it's supposed to make you a little uncomfortable.

Sensitivity to killing animals isn't anything new, either. Friend of mine canceled his Far Cry 3 preorder when he saw the Youtube video compilation of someone just killing every single animal on the island. I don't know that I'd take it that far personally (plus I never pay MSRP) but it definitely made me substantially less interested in playing the game.

And, to be devil's advocate, if they had a bunch of stray animals in a GTA game - packs of dogs, feral cat colonies, etc. - and the player could run them over, blow them up, shoot them, etc. just for the fuck of it, a lot of people would have a problem with it, so I don't think it's an unreasonable position at all. No need to give affa a bunch of shit for it.

I think it just comes down to how the game emotionally affects you, which is different for everyone.

I saw gameplay for Payday 2 and it rubbed me the wrong way that your gunning down cops to rob a bank. I understand its a fictional game and it doesn't hold any consequence but I choose not to play it. I can understand the SoTC arguememts as well, that poster was more emitionally moved by that game than others.

Before you ask, yes I've played GTA games before (finished 4). Just a choice I make, to each his own.

I'm 99.9% sure this is a stupid often repeated question but do we know what this coming Tuesdays weekly sales will be? I'm mainly asking because I'm losing track of what's going on with all the digital tree hugging going on in here.

Thanks Frisky.

And on a side note on the whole killing in games thing, I don't care what it is I'm killing it only really bothers me when I'm immersed in the story. I mean back in NES days jumpin on turtles didn't make me upset. But some of the decisions I made in Telltales walking dead made m almost cry (being a parent puts some parts of that game in a different perspective)

I'm pro affa, don't know why everyone's giving him such a hard time about this. Everyone has different connections to different things in their lives (fictional or not) and good on them if it's a real enough connection to at least give them pause in a video game. Yeesh.

T minus two months until ps4.

Kickbeat sales ain't doing too good :/
I bought and enjoyed this game... no one loving it?
i was kinda excited before it came out, because zen pinball is awesome and i love rhythm games. but then i played the demo and it was terrible. also it has possibly the worst soundtrack ever in a game, which is bad generally but really bad for a rhythm game.

Sure, I can understand why SotC evokes strong reactions from people (the desolate and isolating setting), but I've never heard someone claim it was those hideous colossi. Things look like they were plucked straight from the pages of Where The Wild Things Are.

Finally someone that agrees with me ^_^
???? Hurts, man.

Bless you.

Every colossus in the game will KILL YOU the second it sees you. They're not fucking frolicking or taking their kids to school when you fight them. Jesus Christ this is pathetic.

Not only will they kill you, but when you try to hide, they hunt you down and stomp you to death. I'm not sure where the idea that the colossi are peaceful comes from, but they're definitely not. Sure they're pretty to look at, but peaceful? Hardly.

I always assumed they attacked on site because somehow they knew you were there to kill them. Mostly from like the third one on. Since you were running around their hood with a hit list and all. Word gets around. Colossi checking the interwebz and shizzle.

Owning a weapon doesn't always mean you are not peaceful. Sometimes it means you are trying to keep it.

If they're attacking and using that weapon, they're not being peaceful. Exerting force upon others goes against the very definition of being peaceful.

But there are tons of stray and wild animals in GTA 5 and the internet is already full of gif after gif of them getting run over. It uses a similar wildlife system as Red Dead Redemption. Nobody has really said anything about it yet. ANd nobody really said anything about it in red dead either.

rayman origins will be free this week right???
crystalball.jpg

Based on past months, ICO and GTA LCS should be the free games for this week. The PS3 games always come in the first 3 weeks and Vita in the last 2. Since this is a 4-week month, 2 games will release in the 3rd week. The PSP game has always preceded the Vita game.

Hopefully the sales are good this week. The last 2 weeks have sucked.

im interested if Real Boxing on vita is actually gonna be good. It runs on the unreal engine 3 on vita and the graphics look fantastic.

Im tempted to do dragon fantasy book II. I got the first when it launched at the sale price but if i recall didn't they put I on sale for cheaper a few weeks back? Not sure if i should bite or wait to see if theres a bigger sale later on

Speaking of ps plus, has anyone else noticed that it's slowly turning into a promo device to subtly advertise a new release? I am not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, just an interesting thing to note.

You wonder how much of a difference it would make. Usually the difference (pro or con) is very minimal. The main benefit is not having to hear the disc spin while playing. As long as it didn't have any big negative impact, I'd probably still install it.

I am concerned that it's going to turn into a device to try to sell more DLC. DriveClub has me worried since they have a PS Plus version that will be free. That's great if the PS Plus version is meaty, but if they are trying for more of an enhanced free to play model, i'll be very disappointed. I'm mostly worried that since PS Plus will be required for online gaming on PS4, there will be less incentive for Sony to make the service as great as it has been in the past. There are still a lot of PS3's that will be active for awhile, so it will probably be a slow change if it does happen.

Im a little concerned too, but in the case of drive club I believe the thought process might be more that the brand new console won't have much in the way of content to give out with plus day one. I hoping as more games become available they will sprinkle more regular games in instead of freemium crap. I'm also hoping they quit with the psp stuff and focus on ps3,4 and vita only

Another "nothing" week for me.  I'll add Ico and GTA to my download list, but I already have the Ico Collection (which I would sale if we were getting SotC instead of Ico, I find SotC to be about 10x better) and I have GTA on PS2.

Sales are sorry.  Maybe I've just been spoiled by the last couple month's sales, but this month's have been pretty terrible.

Does that mean we get both Ico and GTA:LCS tomorrow? That is a big win. I've been wanting to play Ico for a while. I guess the PS3 will get some love (other than Spelunky PS3+Vita coop!) And GTA is cool too. Will be downloading that for sure.

Will Ico support remote play? Doesn't the combo with Shadow of the Colossus have that?

I still like the original OLED more. The colors seem to be more natural and vibrant. What's interesting is the OP of the video has stated that he likes the OLED for 2D games, and the newer LCD model for 3D games.

For those interested in revisiting the debate over PS Vita OLED vs LCD, here you go...

It's nothing too dramatic but the differences really become apparent when Rayman starts up.

I picked up sotc when it was on cheap digital sale and then as soon as I saw ico announced for the month I dumped my disc collection (both games are good vita remote play fodder so better to have em digital for me). I have yet to actually finish ico so I'm glad to have it.

I think you're correct, lackluster month for sales. we are getting in to the big release time of the year + ps4 time so maybe they'll just continue to let them lull until 2014. I've enjoyed not having to restock my psn wallet.

Guess I was wrong. I would have thought putting another gta as free on gta 5s launch day would be a no no, but since it's just the psp on, maybe it just doesn't really matter that much.

I may get pixel junk monsters this week. I missed it when it was on sale it's launch week and I almost bought it yesterday at full price anyways.
