Why? And why not DMC? Interested to hear your reasons.
If you've never played DMC 1 and 3, then I'd say it's definitely worth a pick-up, even if you only play DMC 3, the best one of the trilogy, which also happens to be a prequel.

I like the term "visual novel" because the interactive story games are a lot longer form storytelling than movies.

capcom arcade cabinet is pretty fun if you are 30 like me and remember some of these games. lots of games for the price, some are easy, some are really freakin hard. something for everyone. lots of gold and silver trophies, one of each for every game. some games take 10 -15 minutes to beat, some will take much longer.
How different is this from the PS collection of capcom classics?

you mean the ps2 version? well i never played it, but looking at the game list there are some games the ps2 version has that this one doesnt, and some that this has that the ps2 does not.

Any point in checking it out if you don't have any nostalgia or familiarity with any of the games?

Sorry, I meant PS2 version of the capcom collection. Trying to determine if this is worth the $10 to upgrade to HD if everything is the same (which it is not apparently). Looking at wikipedia, if you have both volumes of the collection, you have the entire arcade cabinet. Maybe I'll pass on this one.

A majority of the games are shmups or shooters. If you're not a fan of this type of game, the collection you may want to just pick up one or two of the titles. I'd recommend ghouls and ghosts, 1943, and section Z. The problem with the 8-bit era is that controls were not as tight as they are now in most games, so that may frustrate a lot of gamers who only know this generation or maybe last generation playability.

If you do like shmups though, Legendary Wings was great as a co-op game on the NES. Side arms was great on the PC-Engine.

ive only played a few so far but they are mostly shmups. screen moves automatically and enemies shoot slow moving bullets in all directions and you have to dodge and shoot. there are a few side scrollers too, and the cabinet comes with 1 or 2 free games to start with, so download that and see if these games are your style. one is a side scrolling rpg that was pretty darn fun.

i can only bear to play 1 or 2 of these per day since some are rather similar and im doing the easy ones first...

I never could get into the DMC games. I didn't like the juggle enemies for an hour just to kill something. It just seems to take way too long to kill a standard enemy. I also loathe the static backgrounds and fixed camera. I started the DMC4 demo at one point and couldn't believe they still had a fixed camera. It makes me feel gaming claustrophobic or something. I liked the demo of DMC so I might grab that when it's dirt cheap but for the rest...meh. I know how much people love the series and honestly I thought I should love it but never "felt" it.

I'm considering Street Fighter III for some reason even though I don't need it and don't play much of IV these days either.

Devil May Cry 3 has an electric guitar as a weapon, its awesomeness cannot be denied.

devil+may+cry+3+guitar.jpg

When I first played the game for PS2 I didn't like it, but that is partially because Capcom decided to inexplicably up the difficulty for no apparent reason. Easy was dropped, hard became normal, etc. I was stuck on the first boss, but once you beat him and get the second weapon the game became a lot more fun. They fixed the difficulty back when they released DMC3: special edition which I assume is the edition included with the HD trilogy pack.

If you're juggling enemies for an hour to kill in dmc then something is wrong on your end.
I obviously exaggerated but I think in general the combat never felt right for me. I really gave it fair shakes multiple times but it never pulled me in like Ninja Gaiden did. Heck I'm still unsure on even playing DMC but I've enjoyed Ninja Theory's other games. I know a lot of people dislike it too. Can't please everyone all the time I guess.

I'm still even considering buying the HD collection and giving it another whirl but I think I should just chalk it up to not for me rather than waste my money. In my head though I feel like I should love DMC. It's odd to me I don't.

I know but thats a huge exaggeration. You're still implying it takes a long time to kill enemies in the game, but im not trying to change your opinion on the game overall. Its harder to kill enemies in Ninja Gaiden to me.

I guess we can agree to disagree. I guess I'm just implying, but it's how the game overall made me feel. Maybe I thought the guns should be more powerful. Maybe I was juggling too long for no reason. Maybe I thought the gameplay was different than I thought it was going to be. It's really all just an opinion, not trying to sway anyone either.

im stuck on one of the challenges on DMC1. its in the second level i believe, you go in a basement and cant take a single hit or you lose, fighting these quick dog things. ive had the collection for probably a year now and never bothered to pick it back up again. i heard you cannot come back to that spot to retry it, and its required to plat the game. very frustrating.

Have you played Bayonetta? I think you would like it. Bayonetta is basically an evolution of the DMC series.

DMC1 was great and all, way ahead of its time, but it hasn't aged well. Other games have perfected the formula since then.

I started on it a while back and was enjoying what I played. I ended up ditching my physical copy and bought it digitally because it went super cheap. I'll have to get back to it at some point. I don't think I was that far into it.

FML!!!

I got a GTA V Bundle system exactly 1 month ago, used the 30-day trial for PS+ and this morning i wake up to find a $17 charge on my credit card for automatic renewal which I didnt even want....called them up, all i can request is a refund but im pretty sure i wont get it.

Anyone know if the $17 i got charged will count toward the current PSN $10 back for every $50 spent??

Automatic doesn't count, no.

I picked up Bayonetta, but put it back because I couldn't find 2 others in the same price range that I wanted.

Did the $17 come out of your wallet or get billed to a card? All wallet payments count.

Holy shit, no wonder the bonus levels in Kung Fu Rabbit have been kicking my ass, I've been doing the hardcore ones.
Haha, I don't even think you have to do those to get that last trophy. Not positive though, since I fucked up my save file and need to replay a whole bunch now.

You talking about it is making me want to pick up that game again tho.

You don't, you don't get anything for doing them but I already did 16 of them so I finished them off. It makes me confident for the hardcore story mode though.

can anyone tell me more about battle of tiles ex , spelunky and the sanctum 2 game . i want all 3 but would like more info , and is tiles overpriced at 14 bucks? looking for the on with replay value , thanks !
Spelunky is one of my favorite games of all time and has massive replay value. I wish PSN showed how much time you spent playing a game. For me Spelunky time played must be huge. There's a demo, though, you should try it, because Spelunky is tough as nails and not everybody loves or even likes it. See Tyler. :)

FYI, the game is good on Vita, but there is slow down that occurs (and that doesn't occur on PS3 or 360). I hope they can fix that, but it isn't a deal killer by any means and there's a lot going for it on the small screen in spite of that. I play on both.

Just FYI, there is also a promotion for $10 credit with the purchase of a 1 year subscription of PS+, and it seems that the sub will also  count towards the current $10 for ever $50 spent AS LONG AS YOUR USE YOU PSN WALLET FUNDS TO SUB (automatic sub does not count).  This is the info that I got from a mod on PSN support forums.

Sorry if this was posted already but I didn't see anything in regards to this

There's no specific promotion for that because it's the same promo that's been featured in the OP for weeks now. They're just using it to also pimp out PS+ subs because it's a good idea.

I already had $12 in my wallet, so PSN took my wallet emptied it and charged my credit card on file another $5 to complete the transaction!! Pissed off damn.... anyways thanks for the info!

CastleStorm is coming to PS3 and Vita on November 5 for $9.99 with Cross-Buy support. There will also be a demo for those that want to try it out first.
Vita has become this weird trump card for me. As between 360 and PS3, I almost always opt for the 360 version because I prefer the controller and because of MSP deals (and to a lesser extent achievements). But when Sony throws in a free portable version on the awesome Vita, it gets harder to argue. In the end I often end up with multiple versions.

Before all my issues with MS, I was in a somewhat similar position. I mean, I never really preferred PS3 or 360, I just bought the game on whatever platform it went on sale first. But since the cross-buy stuff started happening, I definitely passed on a couple 360 sales because I'd rather have the game on PS3/Vita. The Marvel and Star Wars tables are what come to mind, and I ended up getting the first set of Star Wars Pinball tables free which was even better!

Add in the PS+ Vita and I havent touched my Xbox in months. The integration of the Vita and PS+ has been a 1-2 punch for the Xbox. The only thing that was holding me to Xbox was playing with certain people on multiplayer games. Mostly have switched to PC games for multiplayer, and have my PS3/Vita. Love the Vita and especially love getting it cheap because of CAG.

Thing about my 360 though is I have a few games Id like to play on it like Bayonetta or Lost Odyssey and I have a good amount of arcade games/dlc, so idk if it would be worth to sell it for that little.

Can someone tell me how to get 2 platinum trophies with a cross-save vita game and ps+?

I initially bought Sly Cooper 4 on disc but I'll be playing the vita version via the disc-authorization method. In my ps3 trophy list I see the two different trophy lists at 0% (ps3 and vita). I'm going to earn all trophies on vita. I know the trick is to then upload my vita save file to my ps+ cloud account and then use my ps3 to download the vita save file to the ps3.

But what do I do next to get the ps3 trophies to unlock?

(This is where I'm confused by the various info I found on the internet)

Cross Save games use their own in-game option for uploading the save to its cross-platform server that can then be downloaded with the other version. PS+ is not involved in that process in any way, shape, or form.

Oh. I don't have the Sly Cooper 4 disc anymore. Does this mean I can't get the ps3 trophies because I can't start or "open" the ps3 game to download the save file? A while ago I bought the game for $20 from amazon and traded it back to best buy for $20 after unlocking the vita version.

correct, must be able to play the ps3 version long enough to load the save and pop the trophies.

Yeah, you need access to the PS3 version to get the trophies. :(

ok, thanks. guess i'll just unlock the vita trophies for now. Thanks, everyone. The game is still really pretty on vita though so it's not a huge loss.

By the way, Killzone Shadowfall is going to be featured on Gametrailers tonight 10/17.

And I'm sure most of you have heard the rumor that Driveclub is going to be delayed until 2014 :whistle2:(

I hope we get another ps+ game besides resogun or I'm probably going to sell my ps4 for profit and play on ps3/vita until the inevitable Infamous bundle.

Really lame about the Drive Club and Watch Dogs delays. Especially so close to launch. I played Resogun a few times at PAX and they did a really good job on it. Fans of Super Stardust especially will love it.

I have a feeling Sony is going to announce another game free on launch with Plus to replace Drive Club. Which game though....

Yeah, but it's not going to be anything like drive club sadly. Not that I'm upset at all with the quality of the smaller stuff they announced will be coming to PS+ in 2014 but still.
