SORRY, post-spam!  Don't know what my problem is today.

Just want to confirm: So the promotion ends October 29.  This means I can do my final spending next week when the store updates, right?  If there's nothing else I want on discount next week, I want to just buy the 3 Ys PSP games (and then they will promptly go on discount the following week).

Because at one part it says valid THROUGH Oct. 29, and in another it says BETWEEN Oct whatever and Oct 29.  BETWEEN implies it has to be before oct 29, but I think it was just a poor choice of words.

I caved, I'm weak, bought The Last Of Us digitally. It will be nice for my 2nd playthrough. 1st time I went over $20 on a digital title. Overall though that game is so worth any price. Loved it through and through.

Since that RE: Chronicles HD Collection dropped in price on the EU store too, I was thinking about grabbing it... is it any fun? More important, is it any fun WITHOUT a Move controller, as I don't plan of buying one?
I played the first level with a standard controller, and honestly didn't enjoy it that much. I love lightgun games on Wii and will probably wait until I get a Move (probably BF) to finish RE: Chronicles, but if you don't plan to get one it's probably not worth it. I know there's a demo for Dead Space Extraction which is very similar from a gameplay perspective, so you might just download that to try out (I don't think Chronicles has a demo). Also there's the chance it could come to EU PS+ eventually since it did for the US, so that is always an option as well.

I'm wondering if I ought to buy Last of Us at $35 or wait until it's inevitably $10-20 or perhaps even free with Plus. I have a huge backlog, and actiony games aren't normally my favorite anyway.
Will you play it now? It's a true AAA game and a fitting end cap to the PS3 (I don't play racers so GT6 doesn't count for me...). If you want to get in while the multi is still hopping and experience the story while there's still a small chance of avoiding spoilers, buy now and play now. If those things don't matter to you, wait for the inevitable GOTY edition to hit $20-30 on sale.

Did you get the online pass? A guy on another board I read said he bought this and the DLC and still didn't get the online pass?

You get the online pass with the digital purchase. He probably just didn't download it. If it's like Uncharted, you get the game and pass added to your download list and both queue up automatically. The guy who said he didn't get the pass probably bough it on the webstore and didn't remember to DL the pass or canceled the download and forgot to get the pass later.

I don't know honestly, I just bought it over the web. I don't think that makes much sense though...the online pass would be a part of the full game which this is?

Good call. I think I can wait for the GotY edition. I don't think I'd play it now anyway. I'm more into dorky RPGs and such (which are still getting released for PS3--quite a few coming up).

I guess ad-hoc vita is the only mode that supports separate screens. Oh well. Can't wait for daily challenges.
Not correct. If one players is on Vita and the other on PS3, they can move about independently. The only snafu is while if the Vita player dies they can move around as ghost anywhere, if the PS3 players dies they remain on the Vita player's screen. In any case it is pretty awesome and fun. My kids and I love it.

I have made it to the City of Gold twice, but not yet to Hell. So close!

Also, have you guys checked out Spelunky Death Roulette? Spelunky Death Roulette

Bet fake money on how the player dies. Good fun and you learn a lot too seeing the better players play. Last night I watched a guy make a full Hell run live. Amazing.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I'll have to check out the Death Roulette. Watching youtube videos has really helped me get better. Maybe there is something about narrating your actions that keeps you cautious and helps you play better? I'm in awe of people who throw ghosting into their runs. Crazy.

I'm getting the impression from reviews that this Castlevania Harmony of Dispair that goes on sale next week is mainly a co-op affair. Is that right? I was kind of interested in it until I learned that, since I prefer single player shit. Is this a correct assessment of the gameplay?
I think it's a pretty bland game single player. 6 levels to explore and 6 bosses to fight and that's about it. Also requires some grinding for better items to power yourself up. I don't remember how much it costs, but if you're only planning to play single player I'd say it's not worth more than $5.

I don't think any light gun games are fun with a regular controller.

$20? Ouch. I'll probably rebuy it when it's $5.

I really hope this is not a reoccuring trend. (Porting Vita games to PSN/XBLA)
How is that a bad price? I think it's pretty dang good, especially looking at the price of recent handheld ports like RE Revelation.

$20 seems fair, although I can see it being too high to replay it if you've already wandered the bajou on the vita. dat graphics overhaul though, makes the vita version look like a psp title.

Thanks for the replies about Harmony of Despair. I think I'll pass for now and wait for cheaper. I'm close to $50 though, so may grab DmC for that. I heard people say it's the best hack n' slash this generation. Not sure how true it is, but it intrigues me.

I am one of those that was also not that impressed with Hotline Miami, it's gunplay (at least on the PC) is awkward and atrocious and pretty much required for the last few chapters of the game. Sneaking around and killing with the melee weapons is fun, Hitman-style, but gunning several targets is rapid succession is UGH.

I don't know what the Game of the Year version has in it, but the Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Collection includes Read Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare, Liars and Cheats Pack, and Legends and Killers Pack.
If it only includes that, then it is missing war horse (best horse for most of the game), the assassin's outfit (looks badass and has +50% dead eye regen), and golden guns (+extra fame per kill) which were pre-order DLC and included with the GOTY edition. Liars and Cheats and legends and killers is multiplayer-only DLC FYI.

I have Assassin's Creed on the Vita so I'll pass on that, I'm wondering about Castlevania Mirror of Fate's HD upgrade. I passed on getting it for 3DS due to mixed reviews but if it goes budget I might grab the PS3 version.

MoF will be $15 and is (probably) coming out next week. I could be wrong, but the XBL version will be out on Friday.

Oh nice both Corpse Parties for me....hope they live up to what I've read. Will likely look at other things to buy if I want that cashback...with these 2 purchases I will be close.

I couldn't stand HM on the PC. I played it for about a half hour last night on Vita, though, and found it to be pretty fun there...with the exception of the gun use. Got to I think the 3rd map and starting to use shotguns. I found it really awkward to move while aiming with the gun. I'm not used to twin-stick controls, though.

The 3DS Mirror of Fate port is coming out next week for $15, that's what I was expecting for Liberation so I think $20 is pushing it a bit. Downloadable-wise, $15 is still pretty much the "high end" price for games, so whenever I see games go over $15 I think they're pushing it a bit. I definitely thought the RE4, RE:CV, and Crysis 1 HD ports were all overpriced by $5 as well.

But you bring up a good point with Revelations, they wanted $50 for that bad boy. So I guess the there's no real set in stone price when it comes to porting handheld games on to consoles.

I have Assassin's Creed on the Vita so I'll pass on that, I'm wondering about Castlevania Mirror of Fate's HD upgrade. I passed on getting it for 3DS due to mixed reviews but if it goes budget I might grab the PS3 version.
Hopefully Tuesday.

As for MOF even though it's out Tuesday I'm prepared to wait for $10 or less...I'm not in a rush. If they do a Plus deal I'll re-consider but doubt that will happen.

I'll tell you this - if capcom rereleased RE4 on vita/ps4 I would buy it *again* for $15. I have absolutely no damn willpower when it comes to that game.

Agreed. I want it, but like with everything else, I'll be waiting for a sale.

I would absolutely buy RE4 on Vita if it ever happened.

Thanks for the replies about Harmony of Despair. I think I'll pass for now and wait for cheaper. I'm close to $50 though, so may grab DmC for that. I heard people say it's the best hack n' slash this generation. Not sure how true it is, but it intrigues me.
It's extremely unlikely it'll ever go cheaper. It's already been on sale 2 or 3 times, and hasn't dropped beneath what it's at now. Better just to say you'll never play it then. If you like 2D side scrolling castlevania, I think it's worth getting just for the single player. Do what you like of course...

So I just logged in on the online store, and I have the plus symbol by my avatar. All the plus prices are showing up for me. I haven't subscribed... :?:

Edit: Nvm, must have been a temporary glitch or something. The symbol is still there, but the prices are back to normal.

You don't even need the Move. The games play fine with just the regular PS3 controller.
Well of course you can play it w/o the Move controller, but that defeats the entire purpose of a light gun game. It blows moving a cursor around with a thumbstick on a controller.

I just bought the Sharpshooter from BB.com and can't wait to get it so I can experience these games with Move. I hope it is more fun than frustrating! And I hope they don't cancel my order!

I'm waiting for the Castlevania collection that comes with Lord of Shadow, Mirror of Fate, and all the LoS DLC.
If I hadn't played Lord of Shadow I would do the same. But I played it a while back and really don't need to experience it again. Of course, if the LoS Collection is $10 before Mirror of Fate ever hits $7.50 then I would grab it.

I'm having a hard time believing people enjoy these light gun games with a standard controller. Oh well, different strokes.
I imagine they're more fun with a light gun (I've never actually tried one), but I've put many hours into House of The Dead III and had a lot of fun. The controls are quick and responsive and I never felt like I needed the Move to enjoy the game.

Lords of Shadow was one of my favorite Ps3 games when it came out.  If you like Castlevania and God of War, it is a blend of the two.  Graphics and sound/ambience were great.  I still need to play the DLC even though i hear it isnt great as I bought it a while ago.

I can wait for mirrors of fate hd to go on sale even though i want it too.

first amazon reviews of vita lego marvel points to a forecast of severe vita piss followed by being burned.

apparently you can't jump in the vita version? what the hell?

I tried HODIII with a DuaShock and found it unplayable. But that was after I already played it with my Move Sharpshooter, so maybe that spoiled it for me.

You should try overkill with a light gun (I used the sharpshooter while my wife used the official pistol attachment, both work well), fun as hell with buddies or your significant other.

The controls on Vita and PS3 are a lot better than the PC version since they're more logically laid out on the controller. The Vita version especially has really nice touch controls to move the camera around to let you target enemies around you. Playing the PC version after Vita/PS3 was an awkward experience due to the big difference in control scheme.

I had no problem with the guns once I got used to using them, as the dual stick nature of the controls worked quite well and the euphoria of getting that succession of kills with the gun perfectly fit the atmosphere that the music created. If you really have that much trouble with the guns, I believe there are masks that offer bonuses to help with that stuff. I pretty much stuck to melee whenever possible due to the fact that guns cause so much noise and attention that you either need to be good with them or you need to stick with melee weapons. Don't forget that you can just throw any weapon if you want a longer range attack without the noise attached to it.

Make sure you're locking on to enemies, especially with guns. That'll help make it much easier to hit enemies.

30 is a bit much for the LOS collection, but even 20 I think is a very fair price, would probably jump on it then as I never played LOS 1.

On Amazon the LoS collection is $40, which seems high. I never played it and really want to, but like most of y'all, I'll wait for the inevitable $20 drop.
