Everywhere I complain about this, no one cares -- but it's a big deal to me. Kingdom of Amalur, which I did buy on the PC, has a game-stopping bug of it -- more than one, but I personally encountered one. I have to go back two hours to my previous save to keep playing the game. It's not worth it.

This is not acceptable. I don't know when game-makers decided it was.

Imagine if your Blu-ray stopped playing halfway through and the distributor's reaction was "We'll patch it later. Maybe."

Obviously that is not their reaction. I would get a refund, another copy, or if it is widespread, there would be a recall or a disc replacement program.

Why do game-makers get away with such nonsense?

I know no game is bug free -- but having one that literally prevents me from progressing in the game is inexcusable.
I guess you'll be happy to know that everybody there lost their jobs as a result of that issue.

They lost their jobs because they released a buggy game? Is that your argument? And I resent the idea that my complaint about a game I LIKED that I can't finish because of an "A" level bug is nullified by the fact the company went under, or that I'd be happy about such a thing. No, I'd be happy if they caught the bug prior to release, or patched it before the money went away.

I've read of their demise -- it's because Mr. Curt Shilling knew nothing but how to spend money unwisely, his own and that of the taxpayers of Rhode Island.

Is this some kind of apologia for progression-stopping bugs?

Whelp. Finally downloaded Hotline Miami from PS+. Only a few stages into it but man, it's pretty rad. Dig the music and the overall vibe of the game. Why the heck did I wait so long to play this one?

Show me one game in the history of games that has ever been released with a single bug.

Brb, I'm going to go get mad at Capcom because this one time in Mega Man 2, I fell through the floor and they should not be allowed to get away with that shit.

I was making a sarcastic joke.

Good luck on your never-ending quest to let everybody on the internet know about your issue.

I'll ignore the typo in your first sentence that says the opposite of what you mean.

As I said, and I have worked in video game QA, I don't expect a game to be bug-free. The bug you cite is "clipping" -- the floor should have texture and it doesn't. It's probably a B bug -- should be fixed.

But what if when you fell through the floor, it ended your game? You could play no further. Now in Mega Man, it's not that big of a deal -- the stages are such that restarting isn't a big problem (although I'd bet you'd have a different tune if that bug happened after you'd been playing that level for hours, and just when you were making progress, you fell through the floor).

But in a large, sprawling game like Amalur, my many hours of gaming are down the drain, and I can't complete the game.

Again, it's like a movie ending prematurely. It should not be acceptable. I can't fathom a consumer (although you are giving me examples of some) who say to a company -- I am OK with paying money for your product that doesn't work as advertised. Utterly bizarre.

A joke that didn't address the issue. I'll assume you are OK with game-breaking bugs. Hope one happens to you and then you can report to the internet you are fine with it.

Also, it's called raising awareness. Isn't that what these kinds of forums are for? Excuse me for being a conscious consumer.

Why not just be a cautious gamer. Tip #1 for RPGs that allow free saves. SAVE OFTEN. So you can revert back before a bug happens and not lose much if anything.

If nobody cares about your complaints, why keep posting about it and attacking others for not having anything to say besides jokes? Do you just intend to troll people about this until they put you on their ignore list before moving onto another forum to do the same thing?

You've come to the wrong thread to take things this seriously.

Well, it's not an either or (I can be cautious and conscious), but yes, I should have saved more frequently (although I was suckered by the auto save). What sucks is as soon as I thought "Oh well. It auto saved when I entered the cave," I saw the game auto save again, trapping me with the bug.

But none of that excuses the seemingly pervasive and ever-growing mentality of "we'll patch it later." I know these are big games with miles of code. But consumers have the right to expect a game that will work as advertised.

To my knowledge, I've not posted about it here. So I apologize if it is a repeat complaint. But I do bring it up in other forums for reasons I've already stated. It is in a gamer's interest to care about such things, even if it doesn't happen to them.

As for the seriousness of the forum, I'm not sure you're the arbiter of tone -- surely there's room for both jocular and more substantive posts.

And that Bubble Man stage was too difficult for me as a kid. Capcom ought to give me a free game of my choosing for this reason alone.

That "patch it later" mind-set is one of the worst things about the gaming industry today. Case in point, I'm playing Arkham Origins now -- one hell of a fun game -- but the multiplayer is nearly unplayable due to it only being half-finished. Clearly, the matchmaking server must be running on all the power of an old Apple II, because it takes anywhere from 10-30 minutes just to set up a single round. Pathetic.

I think you're the only person to come to this thread to talk about the PC version of the game. Not many people here had played the game before a few weeks ago, let alone the PC version to experience the bug you got to have anything meaningful to add to your point.

I'm not talking about the forum, just this thread. This is more of a laid back thread and your complaints are killing the good vibes that we had going on in here. Relax, man.

I'm pissed that Nintendo let MINUS world exist in Super Mario Bros. I just could never beat that level going over and over again Haha. Also got mad when I once jumped on the spring board and Mario got stuck between the spring and the board. Mario was stuck and had to start all over from the beginning. This is a terrible game just terrible.

ok i might have missed this, but do we know if we can get the ps4 ps+ games online like you can do with ps3/vita on the website? cuz ya know i don't have a ps4 but id still love to have a bunch of games ready to play when i get one eventually. thanks alot
While I don't know that it's 100%, you can buy PS4 games with the site already so I can't imagine the PS+ offerings would be any different.

And from a business standpoint, it makes a lot of sense to both a) get you used to buying PS+ even before you get a PS4 and b) build up a PS4 library that makes you more likely to adopt the new system.

Especially when I look at those launch lineups this generation....take away the titles released for the current gen systems and it feels like the N64 launch (but at least those 2 games held up to hours of play.)

Edit: On a whim, I decided to go back and look at the Playstation 2 launch lineup. No wonder that thing spent so much time in that first year or so being used as a DVD player.

Mr. Yoshida from Sony's Worldwide Studios confirmed you can add PS4 PS+ games to your collection via the web store. Even if you don't own a PS4.

P.S. PS Vita 3.0 firmware update is live.

Looks like they didn't address the only issue that matters. Maybe there's a backside fix and they just don't want to mention it and advertise that it wasn't working well in the first place.

Did notice, under trophies, they said "Rarity of the trophy cannot be displayed.". I guess we'll be able to see the rarity of our trophies on PS4?
I read the rarity bit as being when you look up the trophies it will tell you what they are, and if they have been obtained, but won't tell you whether it is plat/gold/silver/bronze for whatever reason on vita. I didn't think they'd actually give us a % rarity but I would definitely like being able to see trophy rarity on ps4.

Lost...Once Upon A Time...I see what you did there. You work for ABC, don't you?
What a Scandal, I don't want to get in The Middle of this discussion, so I'll just wait to see who is the Last Man Standing and go Back in the Game that I was playing.

Lost was a narrative ponzi scheme, they didn't take too much thought to planning out things ahead of time so 1 question was answered with 2 questions and so on and so forth until the whole thing collapsed under its own weight. They had the chance to step up their game in the final season since they knew it was coming and they failed.

Bethesda not going back and fixing the Vampire bug in Oblivion GOTY (the quest to change back from a vampire is broken and cannot be completed) after it was brought to their attention is one of the reason's I've never purchased another Bethesda game on a console. What is far worse that "we'll patch it later" is "we've moved on to buildiing our next project and can't be bothered to fix it."

I got the Hang Ten glitch in GTA V so I gotta wait for patch or start over to get 100% trophy but thats how life is this gen. I remember reading an interview with Volition promising trophies r even patched in trophies in SR2 but never happened, they made shitty money grab dlc instead. its a business/thats life. Show them your anger and dont buy a game from KoA R makers again. LOL

also thnx bout ps4 ps+ info. ill have a damn good backlog by time PS4 pricedrop.

awww yessuh

Platinum's action game Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is now cheaper and its downloadable content is now free.

Konami has cut the price of the game, which launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February 2013, in the US to $29.99, and made the Jetstream and Blade Wolf DLC free.

"The lower price point gives new fans the opportunity to experience the game at a reduced price, with the added bonus free DLC packs that lengthen the overall experience," Konami said.

Well that's annoying. For anyone updating to the Vita firmware 3.0, please be warned that it'll obliterate everything in your mailbox. The only message I have now is some system notice that "You Can Now Use [Messages]." Gee, not like I've been doing that for months now or anything.

Hoping this doesn't cause anyone problems if they update their firmware around the time Sony sends out the PSN wallet redemption codes this week.

Dragon's Crown on Vita worth picking up? Since it'll be on sale tomorrow and all
If you like hack and slash or beat 'em up games it definitely is. I think it's Vanillaware's best game to date, and there's a lot of fun to be had even if you only play through once. The character classes are so varied and interesting that you'll probably start at least a few characters though.

$30 is what I feel the game should have cost at launch. It's not OMG must-buy! at that price, but it's enough of a discount that you'll definitely feel justified in your purchase.

If nobody cares about your complaints, why keep posting about it and attacking others for not having anything to say besides jokes? Do you just intend to troll people about this until they put you on their ignore list before moving onto another forum to do the same thing?

You've come to the wrong thread to take things this seriously.
The PSN thread has made my ignore list fill up faster than any other thread on CAG, except maybe the Xbox One thread when the always-online was still a thing.

Why not just be a cautious gamer. Tip #1 for RPGs that allow free saves. SAVE OFTEN. So you can revert back before a bug happens and not lose much if anything.
Thank you for mentioning this. I had been asleep, so I'm glad someone filled in as voice of reason until I woke up. Since the NES days, when games first started cartridge saving, rule number 1 has always been to save often. When auto saves rolled around, ruble number 2 became never trust the auto save. I guess whining about things on the Internet overrules commons sense these days.

I'll give it a hearty recommendation. I'm somewhere in the 90s levelwise with my main and I've finished the game with two or three characters and I'm not sick of it yet. The online action is supremely done, really it's just about flawless right now in terms of drop out / drop in (unless the whole 'lose all your xp when the room leader drops' bug is still in there, haven't seen it in a while).

It's nice to look at, plays great, and there is way more variety between characters than you'd ever expect. It sucks having to dig through the intro missions for every new character you start, but I think that's my only complaint. Maybe my favorite hack and slash of all time.

Multiple saves for RPGs should be a no brainer. And even though you are a jerk, I totally agree with you on not trusting auto save. Hell, if I had not been running multiple saves on Persona 4 Golden prior to the big hospital scene, I would have missed out on 20 hours of game play because I didn't navigate the conversation properly. It was only after that I saw something on GameFaq and realized what was up. Fortunately I had a previous save from right before the hospital conversation and was able to go back and play through all that extra content and see the "true ending."

I like how some developers have gone from the standard one auto save slot to the sneaky "everytime it auto saves it creates a new auto save slot"...and then you sit there wondering where your HD space is disappearing to.

Old school Resident Evil limiting the number of saves via typewriter ribbons drove me insane. By the time I played them, I had played a lot of Final Fantasy and had gotten into the habit of constantly saving. I saved so much I started looking for ways to create save points in real-world relationships. That way when something went wrong (the inevitable), I could go to a previous save and the world would be tits again.

I shoulda put the controller down a lil more often.

Long live JJ.

Jerk.

Got my hands on a DualShock 4 last night (ordered from Amazon).  Once you hold that controller it is hard to go back to the DS3.  Seriously.  I think L2 R2 will be the de facto standard for shooting instead of L1 R1.  Lots of PS3 games are compatible already.  Here's a list.  Downsides are that we currently have to play with USB cable connected to controller and PS3.  None of the motion controls work, and it uses a micro USB cable.

Holy shit, complaining about a video game bug that wiped out a couple hours of play.  Talk about first world problems.

My rarest trophies are from PSN games.

Rarest trophy:  DD Neon Max Fidelity

Personal Fave rarest trophy:  Renegade Ops (great game) Lord Master of Great Skill

I also didnt realize the plats for Just Cause 2 and Dead Nation were that rare, but both are under 10% as well.  Both are in my top games of this gen and possibly all time.

Three of my rarest trophies are the Perfectionist ones from Runner 2. Apparently a lot of people quit on that game. Silly bastards.

Divekick & Pinball Arcade round out my all Ultra Rare top five.

umvc3 vita plat is my rarest I think. it'd be fun if sony started tracking rarity for all trophies and displaying it (not just ps4). it'd probably encourage some folks to try games they wouldn't have otherwise tried, for better or worse.

Also found out that Pinball Arcade Vita and PS3 are separate as far as trophies are concerned, even though cross-buy. I know this would make some happy, but I'd rather they were combined. I don't especially want to have to platinum twice. Yeah, weird, I know. :)

My rarest are all Burnout paradise multiplayer/DLC trophies

My rarest non-burnout paradise trophy is getting all the time machine parts in Retro City Rampage at 9%, which is a story progression trophy LOL.

My 2 rarest are the plats from UFC 09 and UFC 10.  They are at .82% and .65% respectively.  Since the servers are down, they can only go lower at this point.

If my shoulder was not screwed up, I would try to go back and finish up Sports Champions.  I am not far from the plat, but I really sucked at Gladiator Duel.  Its plat is at .80%.  One of the golds I have in it is at 1.44%.

1) Lost is the shit.  Entire series on Netflix if you haven't seen it.  Yeah, there's a few holes here and there but it has the best character development EVER.  A damn good ride.

2) Rarest trophy is Smart Move - Marvel Pinball @ 1.00%

3) LMAO at the nerd rage over a losing a couple hours of gameplay.  We've all been there at one time or another, but cmon... a couple of hours?  Many of us have lost much worse at one time or another.  Take a deep breath... it'll be okay.

When we were in high school, a buddy of mine was playing...it was either Shining in the Darkness or Shining Force on the Genesis. I have no clue how long he had been playing without saving but it had to have been a serious marathon session (as he was known to do) because his future brother-in-law walked into the room while my buddy was dropping a deuce...and turned off the game so he could watch TV.

My buddy walks out of the john and realizes what happened...tackles the dude right in the middle of the living room and start clobbering him in a fit of rage. Fortunately the guy wasn't hurt too badly. He outweighed my buddy by a fair amount sooo. It was all kind of surreal cuz it wasn't like my friend had any sort of angry streak.

He just didn't like peeps messing with his games and shit, I reckon.

You will never, ever post something good enough to counter this horrendously wrong and terrible opinion. It's not possible to come back from this.

Edit: BTW, I bet you love Once Upon A Time as well (same people that wrote Lost). God, you're the worst person ever.
