It's what you don't see that's important - cracks in walls that you slowly crawl through or doors you slowly open while the next area loads. GOW 2018 looked incredible but I won't miss loading screens at all.

Excited for Horizon 2 and Miles, I hope Mikes will release on PS4 too. But nothing so far makes me wanna get a PS5 at launch. I still have a few more PS4 exclusives I want to buy that’s on sale now like Concrete Genie, Everybody’s Golf & Death Stranding. I just hope these PS4 games will be playable on PS5. PlayStation will remain exclusively for exclusives and Xbox for everything else main console.

I'm getting the vibe that that will be the $499 PS5 so they can come in under the wire in some form or another. Only reason I can think of they would do this out of the gate is that they need some kind of more reasonable model to avoid sticker shock. That's practically admitting you know your console is going to be costly. Digital consoles have typically been trying to pick up some late adopters because they tend to piss off retailers that cannot make add on sales to justify low hardware margins (as easily). I know digital is more of a thing now, but still ...

 
1. Ugly console (if it was in black it would be way less ugly)

2. Spiderman launch title not enough to get me to be a day one purchaser.

3. Lots of cool game trailers, most of them likely won't be out till late 2021 or even later.

No price announcement? This is getting pretty stupid with MS and Sony waiting till the last second to get a $$ on this new gen.

I'm personally excited; I probably won't be able to swing first month purchase (I've bought a year or two after release, which definitely paid off CAG-style), but with Horizon West, Miles, R&C and an actual media remote again, I'm in.

On another note, is buying Death Stranding Deluxe for $31 on the PStore a good deal?

Sony will push PS Now on the disc-less console. Some on here mentioned that the price of PS+ is dropping and there is a chance that they might introduce Ultimate PS subscription service to compete with MS.

yeah the only way I could make sense of that is if they either a allow for use of any memory cards and externals or B make it 50-100$ because it's not worth any more than that when you are gonna have to spend money on proprietary crap. Which sony is well known for being terrible and over priced with.

You'll be able to put in an additional SSD for extra storage or use an external HDD for storage of games when you're not playing them.

 
I'm actually considering the digital version. I've gotten by with a 240gb SSD in my PS4 for a couple years. Since getting a gaming PC an Xbox really doesn't appeal to me this time around since Gamepass is a thing. If they somehow get it priced around $400 I'll possibly preorder.

This looks like a Lost Legacy/First Light type expansion versus a full blown sequel. I'm wondering if they'll add some sort of gimmick to take advantage of the fast SSD.

Which is sad, there really isn't anything that warrants a day one purchase, and even though I knew that would be the case, I was hoping sony would prove me wrong.

Given the overwhelming response to the color I'm convinced that they will release a black version at some point. Reminds me of the xbox 360 which released in white and then when they released the Elite in black I bought it day one.

EDIT: I just realized that the xbox one s is also in white while the One X is in black. Xbox premium consoles tend to come in black

I own both consoles so I speak from experience. The battery capacity in a ps4 controller is pathetic. And what do you do when the battery degrades even further? Much easier and cheaper to replace a pair of batteries than buy a whole new controller. Probably not a coincidence that they've increased the battery capacity of the ps5 controller.

Who still uses disposable batteries these days? Get yourself some high capacity eneloops and call it a day. You can thank me later.
 
TLoU2 reviews are out.
Leaked spoilers are unsurprisingly confirmed and the game is exactly what you'd expect based on them and everything else we already know.

Rechargeable batteries pay for themselves over the long run and are better for the environment. Don't be that guy. Get yourself some high quality eneloops from Costco.

I do have rechargeable batteries, but sometimes I just need to replace a battery quickly and disposable batteries do the trick.

Yeah apparently Spider-Man will be a remaster with a Miles Morales DLC. I’m disappointed that the new content won’t be coming to PS4...

I own both as well (multiples of each in fact), and I ran rechargeable battery packs in my XB controllers so I can validate what you were saying. I think that my original joke got taken out of context and the entire thing spun out of control. My apologies for any insults directed your way. I was having an extremely shitty day yesterday lol so that is probably why I was a dick. Also sorry to everyone, including Frisky especially, for derailing the thread.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but giant faceless corporations don't give a shit about the environment. They'll keep making disposable batteries and selling them in packs of 100 in Home Depot and Costco and other places, even if people don't buy them as much. I see them everywhere, in every store. Which means that people buy them. And, people keep buying them, because they make the rechargable ones so much more expensive. And eventually, when the rechargable ones die for good, and they will, because the company needs to get you to buy new batteries. They end up in the same exact landfill as the disposable ones. In a perfect world the Kinect really would have been better than it was, and it would have made controller free gaming the wave of the future. But, it didn't. So, here we are.
