$70 still doesn't seem too crazy, when you think that people were already willingly paying $120+ for ultimate editions of games, and $200+ for collectors editions of games.

They passed on publishing it outside of Japan due to its high difficulty. Sony president Shuhei Yoshida played it for two hours, didn't get past the starting area, and called it a bad game. Then it was praised on Penny Arcade, became a cult hit, and you know the rest.

Seeing the Ubisoft gold edition game prices on Best Buy just makes me laugh honestly. People will still buy, but I'm almost waiting for all those to go down over times. Expensive especially with tax.

My question is, how is it any different than the gold or platinum headsets that people already own? And, will it fit comfortably with the PSVR headset that currently exists, or will we have to wait for them to develop a PSVR 2 that specifically works with this headset. It also sounds like the camera isn't being built specifically for games this time around. They only list it as being for streaming yourself to an audience while you play games, and that the PS4 camera will be required for PSVR to work.

On BF those gold edition games are really cheap on Ubi site. As long as its not a new release, you can redeem 20% off coupon to make it even cheaper.

Welp, that killed all my interest in getting a PS5 at launch.
Miles Morales is cross-gen (but not cross-buy of course), $70 is the new asking price, Demon's Souls and FF16 are headed to PC and Sony remains incredibly opaque about BC support.
Launch day Demon's Souls is the best news that came out of the presentation. And DMC V Special Edition.

Shu played it originally when it was pitched to them to publish in the US and is famously quoted as saying 'this is the worst game I've ever played' in so many words, then declined. That's why it was picked up by Atlas in the US and From distanced themselves from Sony as a publisher to create the Dark Souls games after it blew up as a sleeper hit. It's why they're on PC and Xbox, so it slipped away from them as a major 'oops'.

 
so apparently the "also available" text at the end of the demons trailer may have been an error

they took down the trailer on the playstation channel. this is a big goof for sony if thats the case, theres already dozens of articles about it

You guys/gals may want to call or head to Gamestop. My Gamestop in Batavia NY, just called me and I switched my Far Cry 6 pre-order to the Disc PS5 just now. The manager said I will get an email shortly. He said he only had a few pre-orders left.

Called all my local stores and they're sticking to the corporate script of waiting for the green light. Very YMMV on which stores are doing it yet, so call first.

If I recall correctly, at least Microsoft said that it was up to third party developers to patch their games so that older peripherals would work on the Xbox Series X, so I imagine that it's the same with the PS5. They specifically mentioned Guitar Hero controllers, saying that making them work on the new console would be up to Activision.

Considering Sony is helping with the development, it makes sense. Although, I can see a PC port in a year or two maybe. Saying that shit now would take away sales from PS5 which is what they do NOT want.

That's not the issue. At first blush it occurs to me that it LOOKS like differently colored consoles, not different editions. If that was my kneejerk reaction, that's exactly how confusing it will be to the general public.

No you’re just looking for reason to complain because out of all the things that are uncertain, no other color option at the time is not one of them.

Boxes don't look confusing to me...I mean there is a big ass picture of the console on the front of it along with text stating what edition it is.

 
I hope a black version of the console comes out before God of War 2.  I'm actually skipping buying at launch, don't really like the white, can't justify the cost.

It's funny. I preordered the disc version and yet I apparently only own 4 PS4 games on disc.

Ah well. I guess now I can buy up all the cheap pre-owned PS4 games on disc now that they're "last gen" ...
 
Son of a bitch.  I got to the next page and it said no stores within 200 miles have it in stock and sent me back to the beginning.
