Interesting that both MS and Sony have filled their monthly free offerings with some first party titles.  Maybe they are having a rough time getting other companies on board?  

 
Wipeout is perfect for me.

It's a game that I'd like to play again with upgraded graphics but I don't wan't to spend any money to do so.

It is much easier to do guides on Psnprofiles as they have templates to enter the information into and format the text, playstationtrophies has pretty specific formatting requirements that you have to do yourself. Also to consider is the volume of indie games coming out has increased considerably it seems every year. When I did one one for the indie game Infernium, psnprofiles said only like 20 users of the site had played the game in the 7 months since its release. The greater the volume of indie games, the fewer the people playing each game, and the less likely there is going to be a person among the player base who will take the time to write one.

How is chasm? Sounds like a game that combines two of my favorite themes (metroidvania and roguelikes) but the reviews make it sound very mediocre.

I really enjoyed it. There aren't any roguelike elements but the premade rooms are "procedurally assembled" so each player has a somewhat different experience. Had to play it twice for the Platinum and never got sick of it.

My main issues are that the platforming doesn't feel great until you get the wall jump and double jump late into the game and the combat gets better the sooner you get a whip or club to drop because their attack arcs are much better than the early stuff that typically drops.

Yeah, it's not a roguelike in any way. It's more like if Symphony of the Night had randomized seeds that changed the layout of some areas a little bit. Large chunks are kept the same for the sake of tutorials, puzzles, and specific moments they want to set up.

 
Picked up Street Fighter 3rd Strike on PS3 for $9.99 about 3 weeks ago and now it is $7.99...could've saved $2.  

Anyway debating whether to pick up Ultra SF4 on PS3 or PS4...it's only $4.49 on PS3 right now.

Days Gone has actually sold pretty great, especially for how mediocre most of the press reviews were for it- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Days_Gone#Sales

 
I was tempted on Chasm, but I'm ok to hold off for now.  I'd rather save my money/time for when Hollow Knight and/or Celeste go on sale again, or if Hamster ever decides to sack up and put Bubble Bobble on the Switch.

It debuted second behind a series that is decades old and I haven't touched in as long. That's not impressive lol.

Doesn't matter. I do want to play it but only on the cheap, so I can keep waiting with WoW classic just around the corner now. There goes another two years. /RIP

I have made microtransactions in a free-to-play game specifically to support the game before. There was a game I liked on PS Mobile called Adventure Bar Labyrinth; it was a really fun and well done roguelike. I actually got more fun and playtime out of it than some games that I actually paid for, so figured they earned some money from me.

If it was a steeper discount and I was starting Fallout Shelter from scratch, I might have considered that bundle of 5 Mr. Handy's just for convenience sake. That would save you a mountain of clicking as they patrol each floor of your vault and automatically trigger resource collection whenever it is ready instead of you having to click each production room every few minutes. You will get a few eventually when you unlock lunch boxes or as quest reward, but that might take awhile.

 
i got the plat on fallout shelter. it was torture. its an awesome concept that was butchered by its free to play model imo.

I buy foreign currency PSN codes from offgamers.net. They're cheap, they carry every major region, accept paypal, and codes are usually delivered in 5-10 minutes. There's an initial verification delay for new customers but it's always quick delivery after that. Just be sure to look over every listing for the country/amount you're looking for... sometimes there are 'discount promo' options for the same card that are a little cheaper.

I think that Adventure Bar Labyrinth is complete on Android and on the 3DS with no micro-transactions...but I'd have to check.

 
Oh, I bought the 3DS version on day one.

Adventure Bar Labyrinth isn't on Android, but Adventure Bar Story (the first game, an RPG) is on both Android and 3DS.

Has anyone else not been receiving the weekly Playstation update e-mails?  It seems I haven't received one since mid-June.  Wasn't sure if this was just me or if they stopped sending them out.  In the past when they used to give out 10% off codes that's where they usually came from.

Thanks for clarifying. I knew that I owned Adventure Bar Story, but I haven't turned my 3DS on in a few weeks. And everyone on CAG remembers when I lost my Vita in the washing machine.

I did this. Bought the ten games or so i wanted on 3ds [etrians, culdcept, shi megami tensei franchise, etc].....

Still end up playing vita more. I went with a 2dsxl, and i guess im glad i got it, but i get way more use out of my vita. I think it may just be the games ive tried so far... etrian hasn't lived up to the hype for me, and while i loved culdcept on ps2 i'm not enjoying it as much on 3ds.

That may change once i get into SMT.
 
Unfortunately, I missed out on the Vita because I was always waiting for a respectable sale or price drop that just never came. I can't really cry any tears, though, because I have a (couple) PSP systems that rarely get played despite so many games I haven't yet touched.  I don't know, handheld systems don't really do much for me because I'm usually home when I'm gaming, and if I'm going to be home, I'd prefer to play on my 55" 4k w/ Surround Sound instead of a little portable screen.  If I'm not home, I'm either driving to work, working at work, out with my girlfriend or out shopping -- all situations where I wouldn't be gaming "on the go".

I do love my 3DS, though.  Primarily because it gives me something I can't get with even home consoles -- 3D (and glasses-less 3D at that.)  I have a 3D television, but with game devs no longer making games that play in 3D, everything falls on my 3DS if I want to get some third-dimensional action (without putting on the PSVR headset, of course.)  And while Nintendo has been quickly losing me when it comes to home consoles since the N64, I find their handhelds seem to keep the spirit they had during the SNES alive and kicking.

If you don't mind in used condition just do a regular weekly visit to your local thrift stores or check craigslist/offerup app. This past year I found me a Wii U with 1 Tablet controller plus 5 First Party Nintendo Games for $75 and an Xbox One system with 2 controllers for $65 at Goodwill.  A month ago I purchased a pristine condition 3DS XL with 5 complete games (Fire Emblem, Zelda, Paper Mario, MK7, NSMB2) for $140 from craigslist. Please note this gen I only had a PS4 and PC gaming rig.
