I hated when the wallet size was $150. I had a langers juice promo stack of maybe $500 in codes and by the time I could redeem some of them they were stolen.

Also, not surprised that TLOU2 got great scores. It seems like the kind of game that is almost review proof. No one would dare give it a bad score or risk being called a troll or something.

I wouldn't say the norm but there was a deal for $45 in April (from Sony themselves, not a glitch or anything).
This may very well be the cheapest it'll get, but I doubt that they won't discount it again given the palpable desperation for higher sub numbers to catch up to Game Pass.
I imagine they'll end up treating it like Plus and discount it similarly at similar times.
I'd say it's worth it at this point if you think you'll play the games already on the service with a bonus if you're like me and never owned a PS3. I grabbed it back in April myself.

the /10 rating system is so subjective and archaic. I really like the youtuber ACG for his reviews. He gets in depth and details specific issues regarding all aspects from gameplay, glitches, framerate, sounds, fun factor, and all that. He speaks quickly from a script after playing the game through on several platforms.

Definitely see if he has any reviews for a game you are thinking about buying.

He tried to get a code from Naughty Dog, and they blacklisted him for a previous review he did on one of their games. I believe it was one of the Uncharted titles. He and Skill Up (as I mentioned before) are the only two guys I really trust for reviews. Easy to tell who is a paid shill nowadays lol.

They are one of the most prominent review sites that gave it a more negative review. They also gave the original a relatively lower score.

I can't remember the last time I checked Polygon out, they devolved into click bait sensationalism trash some time ago.

ACG is the only reviewer I trust. He always buys his own games so he isn't beholden to the publishers for free review copies or access. I'll wait for his review.

Not everyone has infinite disposable income...

This is why people like to find a reviewer with who they have some commonalities with so they can help filter out the chaff in order to only spend money on stuff that they're more apt to like.

That is true, but this is CAG many wait until a sale anyway. For a lot of us who Collect CE games you can't wait for reviews or you will miss out or it's a series you love and you don't care about reviews.

 
Honestly reviews are fairly useless, it's way too much of a personal preference to gauge how 'good' a game is for you just by reading someone else's impression with all of their experiences and bias carried in. I'm sure most people on here have experienced games that got less than stellar reviews that ended up being incredibly fun. Just as an example Spec Ops: The Line is brought up in several reviews for TLOU2 as a better execution of similar themes but take a look at the reviews for Spec Ops they're not good.

I think we'd all be better off if gaming coverage pivoted more into Jason Schreier type journalism and news/interviews rather than a race to review games. Not sure what reviews actually help other than sales, more extensive coverage of games would absolutely be better at informing people that are on the fence about buying a game.

 
I just couldn't get into TLoU back when it came out.  Tried several times.  TLoU 2 seems like more of the same, so if I ever do get it, it will either be from PS + as a free title or deeply discounted.  I def gotta try the first game again and see if I can even enjoy it lol

 
The problem with The Last of Us 2 reviews is that some are very short and yet they give it really high marks without saying much. A couple examples is Playstationtrophies and Push Square. I know the embargo limits what they can say but it just seems odd. Not saying this is a Shadow of Mordor situation as that one was way too obvious.

I still have the game preordered.  Druckmann bullshit and all. Though I'll reserve opinions until beating it as I didn't read the leaks.

$699 and $599 for digital edition is what I expected. The cost to produce was moving above $500 per, and that was before Covid.
 
It's probably more like $499 for digital and $549 for the disc one. They can't guess too low and have to cancel all the orders they took to raise the price.

 
FF7 (the original) got a patch today.
Fixes issues with two trophies.

Where the hell is the FF7R patch though?

Despite "Papa Trump's" stimulus check, I think that I'm going to hold out for the revisions of the PS5 and Xbox Series X that we will get in a few years. We all know that they are coming. They've been happening since the original PlayStation days and the Xbox 360 days. And, since I only got my Pro a year or two ago, and I got my X in November, and my Switch Lite last month, and my 2DS XL a few days ago. I feel like I have more than enough of a backlog of games to keep me busy for the next few years, without rushing out and buying a bunch of things at full price. Because, we all know that some of these launch titles will go way down in price. And, as long as I can keep my GamePass Ultimate subscription going for free with Bing searches, and I find cheap deals on PS+. The game companies will practically be giving me free games, anyway.
 
Not to even mention the fact that these consoles need new TVs, and portable hard drives that are compatible with them to get the most out of them, which will cost even more money.

That's why I bought a Vizio P Series back in 2016. Should hold me over until QLED or 8k get cheaper.

I don't even have 4KTV money right now, let alone 8KTV money. But, I do think that in three or four years when 8K is the standard, that prices will go way down, like it was for 4K.

They will, I paid 2k for my 4k TV then in less than 2 years I could've bought at least 2 for the price I paid. I adopted early, but learned my lesson.

 
That's how I feel about consoles. I don't really feel like being a BETA tester anymore. And, there are thousands of great games that I can already play. On the consoles that I currently own.
