Not sure why anyone is upset about the Ghost of Tsushima Legends. It's not PvP multiplayer, it's co op story missions, hoard mode, and raids against large bosses. Sounds like a good FREE addition to an already great lengthy single player mode. People just have to complain about everything these days.

Also where are you getting the info that the money used to make this took anything away from the primary development of the game? Yep. They rolled out the change about a week ago now but it's only on the console store itself so far. It also applies to PS Now games which had the same problem iirc.

For example this is what the Bloodborne page looks like for me now. Good example because it's something I got from PS+ that is also on PS Now. I have the option to buy it now.

This probably will not be the case, but I'd prefer it to be a Left 4 Dead style co-op survival experience.

30-45 minute, drop in/out co-op scenarios (with bots as need be and the option to solo) that play out differently every time and culminate into a full storyline.

Hoard mode or basic/boring "open world" missions don't really appeal to me all that much.

Also I believe in 3 or 4 there are callbacks to previous games in the other series, so you might miss that a bit. Hopefully someone else will have some insight, but just read peoples introspective on the trails series period including these and you will likely be suprised. Don't see spoiler ones, but it's interesting.

I'm in the same boat as you. Heard really good things about this series, imported the vita Japanese versions of trails in the sky 1-3, hope they live up to expectations. I think you can play trails of cold steel with no prior knowledge, but of course the references to the earlier games will be lost. Be interesting to see if anyone else has insights.

Ok so, with an attempt at brevity.. The kiseki (trails) games are my favorite games being made, up there with my favorites from the Squaresoft era. The ps4 version of CS1 would be a fine place to start. I'm sure some people find it too slow, but there's an attention to detail and long-reaching character development & world building that I just don't get from other games. You do need patience, the ability to avoid spoilers, and to be okay with a game keeping secrets from you for indefinite amounts of time. Just ask if anyone has specific questions.

If looking at all of the games in the current (for NA) Trails story arcs, I'd recommend two directions of playing [customspoiler='the series']
The order of release (JP), which is: Sky FC, Sky SC, Sky the 3rd, Zero*, Azure*, Cold Steel 1, 2, 3, 4.

Alternately, the order of english releases also works. This is what I did, and it worked pretty well:
Sky FC, Sky SC, Cold Steel 1&2, Sky the 3rd, Zero*, Azure*, Cold Steel 3.

Correct. Cold Steel 3 & 4 were originally one game project that was split later in development, much like Sky FC & SC.

Anyway if someone tells me they really just want to start with CS1, I say great, enjoy. Same thing with owners and CSIII. Bottom line is that they need to be played, enjoyed, and supported. You can also try out a demo, just be warned about spoilers in the written backstory section of the menu.

My router is ancient, 7 years old (netgear n600) and finally showing signs of going out. My plan only gives me 175 mbps download (usually get 150) and 5 mbps upload. I thought it would be easy to get something new and cheap, but everything is expensive and divided into routers and wifi mesh systems.

My PS4 has always had to be wireless, but I recently started streaming stuff and the 4-5 mbps is said it was getting just isn't looking good. My Ghost of Tsushima streams are blocky messes.

Coverage has never been an issue as my home is small. Only wifi speed. Do I just get one of the newer routers like a TP-Link Archer or is worth it to get one of those wifi mesh? Can I plug one of the wifi mesh straight into my PS4 and get really good wifi, or is that overkill with my setup?

I have an ASUS ac1900 router and it works well enough for my PS4 multiplayer and all. If you really want to be streaming on PS4 you should be plugged in directly from an ethernet chord, which would likely be connected to your router. Also newer routers have the better wifi with the wireless n so that will likely help. I don't stream games though, mainly cause I have a hard data cap, but direct connections will always be better. Regardless I don't know about mesh since I don't use it, but PS4 wireless speeds kind of blow regardless. It's usually OK enough.

If you're going to game online, mesh is more latency than normal Wi-Fi. Hardwired is the way to go, but you're limited by your plan anyways.

Man hours and money are finite resources. If they couldn’t find anything more interesting to do with those resources for a non-multiplayer game that wasn’t designed with multiplayer in mind than tacking multiplayer on, they could have invested it into a new game—even a dedicated multiplayer one where it would have gone to better use.
Or failing that, they could have given their time and money to charity, instead. Seems like a better use for those resources.

Look into powerline adapters. This is what I use to hardwire. You plug one into an outlet near the router and the other into the outlet near the ps4. The connection is passed through the outlets so you don't have long ethernet cables all over the house.

I used to have AT&T Uverse internet which was complete dog shit.

I now have Spectrum, and their 400gb package.  I am also running an Orbi Mesh Wi-Fi system through my home, and my speeds are amazing.  I highly recommend swapping to a Mesh Wi-Fi system if you can.  I also hardwired all my consoles to the network and use Wi-Fi for work and devices that obviously can't be hardwired.

Forgot to mention, my modem is separate from the router.  Def don't get a Mesh Wi-Fi system with the modem built in.  Things are pieces of shit lol

I use this with Google Fiber and if you buy adapter that can handle the speeds, speed tests are almost identical to when I was running a 100ft of network cable. Home wiring quality plays a role though, so if you can spare the cable, I would suggest running a similar test before committing.

If you have a home wired for coax you can give an ethernet over coaxial adapter a try.  It's supposed to be almost as good as hard wiring ethernet.

I second this, we have spectrum 400gb and my phone was only getting 20mbps upstairs in my house. I bought a Orbi during prime day for like $150 and now I get over 400mbps anywhere in the house. My PS4 Pro gets over 200mbps wired right to the main Orbi router and my sons PS4 upstairs gets 150-200mbps and is wired right to the extra pod. Our house (1300 sq ft) was built in 1900 and has old plaster and lath walls which I think blocked the old wi-fi signal. I got the older Orbi with a router and two extra pods and can even get wi-fi in the back yard now.

I use that exact MoCa and it is pretty amazing -- I've tried powerline,mesh, several wifi extenders (with different modems) and the MoCa out performs all of them -- it's pretty close to being hardwired right to router
