They changed their name at Sony’s request. Their lawyers pursued it further even after being compliant. The presentation of their site did not scream garbage knockoff but if they were cheap, then reviews would have buried the company regardless.

What Sony did was anti-competitive, plain and simple.

 
Looking at the crap on their site really makes me want to trust the plates they were selling.... but go off on Sony some more.

I mean who wouldn't want to spend $30 on some vinyl skins when I doubt they even have a PS5 to get the size correct. Seeing that the "high quality plates" were just $10 more makes me question everything they sell.

You'd have a point if we were sitting here in 2022 and no one had faceplates on the market. The creators of a platform have the right to monetize it in all viable directions, and there certainly aren't enough resources to have EVERYTHING ready on launch day. It doesn't even matter if they "wanted to be first to market". If it takes them a few months to get something superficial like faceplates out the door, so be it.

Again, they created this entire thing. I know you're not ignorant of the incredible investment that requires. They have every right to a reasonable amount of control over what's produced and sold in relation - that potential payback is the only reason to create the system in the first place.

I’m not disputing their right as a creator, I’m calling their tact to be low and garbage more suiting of EA. They want to be first, that’s all and they won’t be able to stop every unofficial 3rd party accessory in the end so why pick a fight now?

By this logic, you should be cool with Honda threatening legal action against anyone who makes aftermarket accessories for their cars. I am not a lawyer so I have no idea if Sony actually has any legal standing here, but at a minimum it's a dick move that provides less choice to the fans who are so excited about the system that they want to customize it.

Not sure if that was meant as sarcasm but it certainly seemed they were trying to be a company focused on quality customs. Like how Otterbox is synonymous with phone cases now. I will be the first to admit I was skeptical but if they proved to be quality, I’d have bought a plate in a heartbeat. PS5 is a butt-ugly design IMHO.

Having trouble with purchased dlc for an owned title as a result of the recent (terrible) ps store changes.

I have a game installed.   Ingame I have no record of my purchased dlc being owned or installed.  These items show "installed" when I access the item through the store on console. No download option.

In the past I would just re-download the dlc items through web browser.  However now I am given the "download from library" link on the dlc page, but the itemized dlc does not show up under "purchased."

Anyone know a workaround?  TIA.

While it's true the plat will be unobtainable after the servers go offline, only one trophy will be affected (Complete a Vendetta Mission, where you have to kill an enemy that killed someone on your friends list) and can be earned within 1-2 hours of starting the game unlike Mad Max's online trophy.

Redeeming the PS+ games on the app and realizing there’s not even a cart anymore?? You have to buy each item individually? Why would they do this?

Edit: Nevermind. There’s a cart, you just have to hit the X button to exit the cart instead of just hitting “add to cart” and adding more things. Stupid design. Sorry.

On iPhone there was an “add to cart” button right away for Hollow Knight. I added to cart and went to Shadow of War but now it was an “add to library” button. I clicked it and it added just Shadow if War to my account, and then my cart was empty. I get what you guys are saying about the store being lousy now
 
i cant even do anything with those plus games on firefox, hollow knight just shows the information about the game, shadow of war shows the different version of the game but nothing to click to add to anything.

Y’all are legit asking why a company that had players using 3-4 apps on the ps4 didn’t make a new app better.

Yeah, I was surprised to see close to 10 things on my wishlist discounted. I'm finally getting Celeste ($7.99) after 2 years.

 
DAMMIT - the PS app just auto-updated itself this morning (like within the past hour). I was able to still use the "old" version earlier today, and even added a game to my wishlist. Totally asinine decision to get rid of that feature. Now I'll buy even less than I did before, unless I start using psprices religiously. Streamlined, my ass.

Yeah it’s crazy...you can’t even redeem a code. Achievements and the main activity feed were also removed from what I can tell.
 
Matterfall is finally on sale for the first time in over a year, lowest price now ($6.99).  I like Housemarque games so I'm grabbing it.  You're welcome if it goes PS+ soon.

Anyone play Spiritfarer on PS4? I would prefer that over PC but I hesitate to play text-heavy games on it because it tends to be waay too small even on a large TV

No issues on Xbox (free on GPU FYI) with text. Game is fun and a feelstrip, but I got bored of the repetition TBH. Made it about three “ferries” in before just moving on. Very grindy IMO.
