I own King Oddball on PS4 and it showed up free for me. It seems to be buggy though as I own Undead Horde too but it isn't showing free despite the fact that it should. Maneater showed free for me as well.

Picked up my PS5 from Best Buy.

Got home and was going through my credit card account and saw that Wal-Mart had a pending charge.  Checked the Wal-Mart site and I see that the order I cancelled a couple weeks ago ended up shipping and is out for delivery today.

EDIT: And the Wal-Mart order was just delivered.

So question for anyone that is really into the dark souls, sekiro, bloodborne type games... As someone who has never delved into those type of games before, what would be the best one to play first or the best deal? I have some credit I want to use on PSN and see that Bloodborne complete edition and dark souls 3 are currently $15. Sekiro is also on sale for $38.99. Any opinions what is the better deal for a first time into these type of games. I think I've always passed on them because I've heard they are pretty difficult.

 
First I would recommend one of the trio of Demon's Souls (Remake mainly), Dark Souls Remaster or Bloodborne. I started with Dark Souls, and that one usually is relatively cheap and probably what I'd recommend other than the new Demon's Souls. Bloodborne would be next. Sekiro I consider highly different and not for the beginner. I had a hard time with it and still haven't beat it though I quit after getting beat down by one boss too many times. The sweet spot for prices for these games is around $10-15 per game. Be sure to get the DLC for them, as they're usually high quality.

Dark Souls 3 is the most accessible of the bunch, Bloodborne the most atmospheric (also the most aggressive in terms of playstyle, due to how health works), and Sekiro is all about the parries/deflects.

All three of them play differently to a large degree, yet are unmistakably FromSoft games.
None of them are as hard people like to claim, they are relatively fair, and are all about pattern recognition.

I'd say Bloodborne is the "hardest" of those three, mainly because Sekiro becomes a lot easier once it 'clicks'.

(Honorable mention: the original Dark Souls is still the best of the Souls games in terms of interconnectivity and slower paced combat, impo... I might be biased though because it was my first FromSoft game =P )

Yup, Bloodborne is part of the PS+ Collection. Just added all the games to my account (well, the ones I didn't already own).

It desperately needs a 60 FPS patch, but Sony is probably going to milk it with some sort of remaster later.

So I’m the opposite of most people’s From software experience. I tried the souls games and wasn’t a fan, tried bloodborne and liked it, but just didn’t stick with it, and then I gave Sekiro a shot and loved it so much that I got the platinum trophy. Sekiro was very tough at first but once it clicks it’s a blast. I’d say the biggest difference between it and the souls games are you have to stand your ground and block and parry. Dodging only works occasionally and with larger enemies. Maybe watch some combat videos on YouTube and see what you think.

Sekiro is the most digestible and current of the games. I know people say it's harder than the others, and that may be true, but I think it's the easiest of them all to acquire skill in. The windows for dodging and parrying are much more strict in the other games whereas Sekiro you can feel the progression of your abilities as a player very palpably. This is balanced by the fact that you can't really grind to make yourself stronger as readily. So while the final boss of Sekiro took me a few hours to beat, it felt better and less random than when I beat hard bosses in other From Software games.

From the Dark Souls Trilogy, I would either recommend 2 or 3, but definitely not 1. Even the remastered original is still ugly and archaic. 2 isn't popular among fans of the series, but it has some amazing music and areas that really made an impression on me. 3 feels way too similar to Bloodborne for me and borrows a lot from the first game, so (while I know I'll get flak for this) I think it's kind of generic.

Bloodborne is good, but has horrible frame-pacing issues, The controls feel really sluggish. I think it's better than the Dark Souls games, but not as good as Sekiro IMO.

My advice? If you have a PS5, Sub to PS+ and play Bloodborne for free. If not, you'll be able to get a cheap copy soon. Only pick up DLC for a From Software game after you beat it the first time if you still have a desire to keep going or if you can get it really cheaply. I typically don't play the DLCs even though I've bought them, just because I have no desire to after finishing the game. Playing a From Software title is like running a gauntlet. It feels good to achieve a win, but I haven't wanted more after that.

I thought the PS+ collection was PS5 only? If that is the case, I'm holding off on next gen until next Spring most likely.

This is correct. They already gave it away on PS+ sometime last year too, so it probably won't happen again. Might be on PS now though?

Yea, I'm curious if that is how it works too. One would assume that Sony would make the licenses for those games tied to the PS5 owners account. Otherwise I can already see people listing online trying to profit off of it "Get X amount of free games to your PS4". Just need your account information, yada yada yada...

Seems like they increased the size of the game icons on the webstore. I was trying to figure out why I couldn't see four rows per screen before realizing that they were much bigger.

 
Just dropped over $120 on VR games. Got SuperHot, Pixel Ripped 89 and 95, Fruit Ninja, Crisis VRgade 1 and 2, Pistol Whip, I Expect You To Die, Moss, and paid full price for Ultrawings.
 
My PS5 is supposedly arriving tomorrow.  In the interim I received a surprise.  It looks like I received the PSVR adapter for the PS5 in the mail.  So for anyone else who put in a request for the adapter I guess they are sending them out.  Just a heads up.

 
Having the weirdest issue ever regarding a Game License on my PS5, curious if anyone has ever had anything similar happen in the past.

I purchased Grand Kingdom at some point in the past (I'm assuming it was through PS Plus?) It works on my PS4, but on my PS5 it just shows as locked content that ineligible to be played. Despite all of my other games working, and that checking on the web store shows I own Grand Kingdom. Restoring licenses and logging in and out did nothing.

 
The PS+ instant collection is pretty awesome. A lot of really good games in there. I've beaten several of them but nice to revisit some of the games like days gone that have gotten a lot of updates since launch. So far I'm very impressed with the PS5.
 
Borderlands 3's adaptive triggers suck.

And I can confirm that you only need a PS5 to unlock the PS+ Collection. Once they're unlocked, you can download and play the games on PS4.

I just spoke to a Sony rep about a refund and mentioned I didn’t get a console. He had said they should have more before Christmas but who knows if he knows what he is talking about.

Just throwing it out there.
 
I've seen enough anecdotal evidence about PS5 disk corruption / system bricking that may be related to using external drives that I'm going to avoid using an external for now.

 
How to I get chat sound on a headset and game audio on the TV? Both are either coming out of the headset or from the TV when I switch the “audio output” option
 
I know it’s kind of nitpicking ... but for $70 it feels like Sony could have put a little more effort into the design of the cases for PS5 games. They literally look and feel like PS4 cases. They could at least try to fool my subconscious into believing there’s an extra $10 of value in there when I touch the new cases.

I’m curious did you use the stand under your console in the horizontal position? I’m trying to find out if Sony recommends the stand for horizontal use or if it’s only a suggestion.

the quick start guide says to use the stand in both positions. Different placements though depending on the position
