Guess I wont play FF7R until June 10th. I only played like 2 hours, but was going to pick it up again shortly. Not bothering now knowing there is a nicer version coming. Not the most amazing State of Play. Deathloop looks right up my alley and I love martial arts games, so I'll likely buy Sifu. Oddworld is cool too, but I need to play the most recent PS4 one before that comes out. Everything else is a maybe.

 
Finally got a chance to watch the State of Play and am looking forward to a lot of what was shown. Kena still looks great and Returnal's gameplay gave me some Alienation vibes. Nice to see the new games from the Absolver and Hyperlight Drifter devs, which look good. Looking forward to the upgrades for Crash Bandicoot 4 and FFVII Remake since I've played a good bit of them, but still have a lot to go and will have to get back on that when those are out. Deathloop looks rad and Knockout City makes a lot more sense after the weird video in the Direct, which could be good.

 
Apparently there's going to be two mobile Final Fantasy VII games, FFVII First Soldier and FFVII Ever Crisis. Ever Crisis is going to have all the FFVII compilation games.

THe FF7 Ever Crisis looks like a pocket remake, ala FF15 Pocket edition, chibi characters on the overscreen and the fights look turn based ish with Remake lvl graphics, Im just excited all the compilations going to be in here: Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerb, Advent children(?), and Before Crisis. I dont think Dirge was bad just they were just to early, FPS on a console was way in early stages and a control scheme was terrible

Honestly The First Soldier is a neat idea, I think It would be better on PC/COnsole than on phone, really depends on how it plays. Using a materia system in a Battle Royal could lead to some interesting gameplay ideas, since you could find materia and have a different game each time. But honestly I dont trust SE not to turn it into a Gatcha/Micro cash grab. Who remembers that stupid FF mobile game where you had to buy champions and it basically played itself

It seems like the rumors are true about FF7R being PS+ for March. The one drawback is that it will not get the free PS5 upgrade. Still a huge W!

Most of us on this forum are paying ~$2.50 for a month of PS+. While I do agree that having the upgrade would be nice, I won’t complain at all. I’m not familiar with Farpoint, but Remnant is solid and Maquette is a PS5 title that hasn’t even released yet. It’s pretty generous of Sony to give out a PS5 title every month when GwG has become a cesspool of mostly unrecognizable junk.
 
I have The Nightfall, The Last Dead End, Stay, Nine Witches, Home Sweet Home, Mask of Mists, Dawn of Fear and Case Animatronics in my cart. I'm also looking at Nerved, Superliminal, Those Who Remain and Through The Darkest of Times are those 4 worth grabbing?

I'm into psychological horror/walking simulator games mostly but will play just about anything

We already know they don't typically give the PS5 upgrades for the PS4 PS+ games, or vice-versa give the PS4 versions of PS5 PS+ games. The only exceptions have been bundle fodder like Control and Worms Rumble.

So based on what you've said, we have similar taste in horror games and I will tell you now that Nerved is freaking terrible. I bought it on Switch so some of the performance issues might be related to that but its just so bad, no atmosphere, no clear direction and its supposedly really short. I turned it off forever after about 20 minutes. I messed with Superliminal a little bit back and it seemed quite cool, that I would give a rec based on my own experience.

I will never really understand why people get so excited for a game that was a huge seller for the platform that lots of people have already bought and played coming to PS Plus. I would like to know how many fans of Final Fantasy didn't buy it and play it already if they owned a PS4. I'm way more excited for Oddworld Soul Storm next month.

I played the demo and liked it way better than the PS1 version which IMO was overrated. I stopped playing the FF franchise after FF 12 so I never got into 13,15. Also my backlog is huge now

There are a shit ton of Final Fantasy games to play on PS4 and this is CAG, so not everybody jumps on games at full price or at the first deal.

I'm guessing it's partly due to that Amazon glitch. I actually opened and played through mine though. Glad I did, my steelbook was dented to shit and I replaced it immediately.
Would be another amazing month if not for the dumb caveat (the PS5 version looks barely different, but I guess they're desperate for more money to fund the FF7 Remake train).

I'm hoping there's a loophole in that my physical version will get to "purchase" the digital upgrade/DLC, but the Plus version will serve as sufficient in regards to a check for ownership (making the disc not required). We'll see.

Superliminal is a fun little perspective based puzzler/walking sim. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and getting all the collectibles was fun, as it does require some creative thinking.
However, if you're a plat hunter, be warned that this one has a speedrun trophy, and that will take several playthroughs to get familiar enough with it, and then several more to get the actual target time.

I would like to know how many fans of Final Fantasy didn't buy it and play it already if they owned a PS4. I'm way more excited for Oddworld Soul Storm next month.

I played the demo and didn't really like it, but from everything I've heard it sounds like it gets so much better. Also my best friend bought it physical so I knew if I ever really wanted to play it I could borrow it from him. We haven't seen each other in person since the pandemic, so I'm pretty happy to kinda have my own copy of the game.

I've already played Remnant on Epic and really enjoyed it, but FF7R, Farpoint and Maquette (even thought I don't have a ps5) are all games I'm really interested in, but would probably never pull the trigger on so this is definitely one of the best plus months I've ever seen.

It's a $30 AAA highly-rated game for free!! Why wouldn't we be excited?

 
Maquette wasn't on my radar and the video on it doesn't inspire me to be excited, but I could be surprised. FF7R is good for the people with PS4s and no PS5. Not sure how big the upgrade will be, but I want the 60FPS and wont play it till then. The other I don't know much about. Looks to be an average month.

 
Do people actually notice a difference between ps4 and ps5 upgrade versions? So far I've preferred playing the ps4 version on ps5 because of the controller. The graphical difference trailer they showed doesn't make me believe this will be any different.

 
Well my question is... if we get the PS+ FF7R but I have the physical copy... how will it know which 1 I have when I want to Upgrade to the PS5 version using my Physical disc

No Man's Sky and Control UE are night and day just because the games run a lot better on PS5 than they do on PS4.

For FF7R they showed that 42 second load times on the PS4 version were reduced to 2 seconds on the PS5 version. Yes, please.

I doubt it. It was just in their video and it just had "PS4" and "PS5" verbiage to differentiate. But in my experience, the PS5 doesn't load PS4 games all that much faster than my Pro with an SSD did if they haven't been optimized for the PS5.

Yea at first I wanted think that must be PS4 version on PS4, but I have noticed very slow load times on all PS4 games I have played on PS5. That is a big difference in load to time where if I do like FFVIIR I may want to buy the better version just to save some time.

Nioh 2 is dynamic 1080p vs dynamic 4k for the 60 FPS modes. The jump from 1080p to 4k is extremely obvious. That is before any sort of graphical changes as well which do exist.

Seemed like pretty obvious differences in the FF7 trailer as well, especially with the lighting and fog effects.

 
Just curious, has anyone else had issues today uploading/accessing anything related to cloud saves on either the PS4 or PS5? As of this morning, I can't seem to do anything cloud-related on either console. Getting error code NP-31805-7 on the PS4 and NP-103023-9 on the PS5. Power cycled both systems, as well as rebooted both my modem/router, but the issue persists. Tried looking the codes up in the context of PlayStation Support but got no hits/answers. Looked wider and found a few Reddit posts here and there with the codes mentioned, but none with answers. Also tried using PlayStation live chat to troubleshoot, but they were mostly useless (both reps almost instantly copied/pasted the same block text, implying that the issue could be hardware-related, and provided a link for next steps). Honestly, it felt like I could have been dealing with a bot instead of a human. Anyway, figured I would check here, just in case others might have experienced the same thing today. 

Given that the consoles provide specific reference codes in the case of errors, it blows my mind that Sony Support doesn't just have a page that lists what those codes generally mean, so that users can understand/troubleshoot in a more targeted, meaningful way.

The visuals between the PS4 and PS5 on FF7 Remake seemed very similar but yeah, loading times and FPS will be greatly improved as one would expect from the improved hardware of the PS5. I just don't think that justifies a repurchase (but really neither does Squeenix, hence the free upgrade).

My guess is that you would need to delete the PS+ version and then reinstall the disc version to upgrade to the PS5 version. Sony, unlike Microsoft, has always been weird about disc vs digital. With something like Game Pass a disc game you own will unlock the purely digital version without any fiddling around. On PlayStation, you always have to uninstall and re-install the digital copy or vice versa.

Yes I have been having issues today as well with cloud save access and getting on the network in general for online play.

Thanks for the link, Frisky, and I’m sure it will be useful for some, but the support site isn’t comprehensive. I checked there first before looking up live chat assistance, and have just checked again to be sure I didn’t overlook anything. If you type in either of the earlier codes I referenced, you won’t find them listed in the results.

That said, given that each code is specific to a problem/issue, it would be great if the support website covered them all, especially since the live chat staff seems more equipped for copy/paste responses than more granular troubleshooting.

You sound like my wife when she asked why we had to get a 4k tv when it looked exactly the same as the RCA tube tv it replaced.

I doubt that is the reason for the free upgrade. More likely that giving people a free upgrade will sell a lot more copies of the DLC and the followup games since it will already be on the new system.

I can't tell the difference in 4k and 1080 on my 50inch. I guess it's a blessing since I don't have to worry about these things. I just wish 1080 raytracing was an option on these games rather than sacrificing framerate, 30fps is actually unplayable to me.

I can't cause an error pop-up to check on PS5, but on PS4, there'd be a search option whenever you got one to do a quick search of the code on the PS Support site to let you see what it meant.
