Thanks, I still have time then! :)

ok, just checked... my ps+ is currently set to expire towards the end of 2015. i thought it was 2016, but oh well. still over 2.5 years. Anyone think it's still worth taking advantage of this deal? $40 for +15 months is a pretty good price (not target nice, though). but on the other hand, i've got 2.5 years to match/beat this price. thoughts?

I would be surprised if they didn't do this offer again in the next 2.5 years, although probably not along with a get $10 back promo. So you're basically looking at losing $10 over that 2.5 year period but at least you can wait to see what the future for Plus holds to see if you would like to subscribe beyond 2015. I'd wait on it.

Now that Sony actually confirmed a couple of days ago that Plus will be on PS4, I feel much better about my extending Plus through the end of 2014. Having said that, I think it's kinda crazy to go too far in the future on it, even at great rates. They could completely revamp it into something not as good, or even something as good but just different than what you are looking for.

I'm going to guess that you misunderstand how the promotion works, so I'll post what it says in the OP:
For every $50 ($49.99 works) that you spend in any part of the PS Store that uses the PSN wallet for purchases from February 26 at 12:01 AM PST to March 31 at 11:59 PM PST, you'll get $10 back for every $50 spent around April 12, 2013.

Yeah, feeling might oblivious over here guys, what did I do wrong...

Ahh, I see. Well, at least I get a great game in the end and the subscription. Thanks!

Here's The Drop for this week:
PS3

MLB 13 The Show
(Blu-ray/GameCard) – Swing for the fences with MLB 13 The Show, the 2013 installment of the number-one selling Major League Baseball video game franchise. The game includes new features such as a completely new beginner mode, and instructional enhancements that make The Show the best pick-up and play baseball experience available. In addition, the improved Play Now mode streamlines gameplay, for faster and simpler games.

As with last year, you can sync your Season, Franchise and Road to the Show saves between portable and console platforms to continue the action anywhere. MLB The Show also offers the opportunity to play with friends around the world at no extra cost on PlayStation Network.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk – Follows the story of Ayesha Altugle, a girl who has been living alone in a secluded workshop ever since her grandfather died and her younger sister went missing a few years ago. She supports herself by making and selling medicine. As the story begins, she finds out that her younger sister IS alive somewhere in the world. Now, she must devote herself to finding her younger sister. Her journey to keep her promise begins…

PSN

MLB 13 The Show
(PS Vita) – Swing for the fences with MLB 13 The Show, the 2013 installment of the number-one selling Major League Baseball video game franchise. The PS Vita version of The Show features the same list of upgrades and new features as the PS3 version — exciting new developments such as a completely new beginner mode, and instructional enhancements that make The Show the best pick-up and play baseball experience available. In addition, the improved Play Now mode streamlines gameplay, for faster and simpler games.

Bit.Trip Presents Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien – Runner2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed and IGF award winning BIT.TRIP RUNNER. In the style of the BIT.TRIP series, Runner2 is a rhythm-music platforming game. Players will run through fantastic environments, using brand new moves, to brand new soundtracks as they run, jump, slide, kick, and soar toward the goal of tracking.

Fist of North Star 2 Ken’s Rage – Follow the storyline of the entire action manga epic in Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2. The destructive power of the techniques of Hokuto Shinken and Nanto Seiken meet the intense action of the Warriors series to produce a thrilling experience for fans of both series. In addition to the signature moves of the first title, new actions such as ‘sprint’ and ‘dodge’ have been added to the move sets.

Fuel Overdose – I-Friqiya started the development of Fuel Overdose with the ambition of offering a new kind of solo and multiplayer action racing experience, by bringing more variety to the combat gameplay as well as a tactical approach to the genre. They like to think of Fuel Overdose as a “Tactical-Action-Racing” game.

Germinator (Also on PS Vita) – Three of a kind won’t help you in Germinator, but you will need to crash your germ bubbles into those of the same color. Upon collision, they’ll combine and grow until they POP! Be sure to pop them quickly before they get too big and overrun the house. Timing and accuracy is the key to preventing the various germs from rising too high. Toss in PlayStation Move motion controller support and full 1080p visuals and you’ve got a messy good time!

Port Royale 3: Pirates & Merchants – In Port Royale 3, players will embark upon an epic adventure through the Caribbean during the turbulent 17th century where the naval powers of Spain, England, France and the Netherlands all fight for supremacy in the colonies. Players take on the role of a young captain trying to build his fortune and reputation in the new world colonies. The campaign consists of two different paths for the young protagonist to follow: adventurer and trader.

Midnight Club: Street Racing from Angel Studios features accurately modeled cities based on New York and London, over 75 races and 17 customizable cars, a persistent world that’s alive with traffic, pedestrians, and law enforcement, and the ability to increase your reputation among other racers.

Midnight Club II – The world’s most notorious drivers meet each night on the streets of LA, Paris, and Tokyo. Choose from the latest performance enhanced cars and bikes and compete head-to-head to make a name for yourself. Depending on the race, players can either follow an obvious course or find their own routes, using quick instincts and knowledge of the city’s side streets, alleyways, shortcuts and ramps.

This is my feeling exactly. We're getting a really good deal now, but I don't see a ton of logic to subscribing way too far ahead. I'm set through May 2014 and I'm not going to extend right now. There will be more deals popping up somewhere within the next 14 months, and I'll re-up when it's closer to my expiration date and I'm more confident with what PS+ is going to become.

He also has the wrong header at top, that says "PlayStation Network" instead of "PS3". Not a major deal, except that it could be comprehended that Tomb Raider is going to be available on PSN day 1, which I'm pretty sure it won't be.

I felt that way but then I remembered I still had a couple of cards from that Target deal. So it was sort of a no-brainer to apply one of those with the current +3 month promo. I'll save the other to do later, though. I don't even think that with a pre-card sitting here in a drawer that I want to pile on much past 2015 (and who knows, I may have some reason to apply that to one my son's account in the next couple years instead).

I finally, for the first time since getting PS+ at the launch of the thing, beat a full game that was provided for free (Uncharted Golden Abyss). I've played through a few PSN games, but that was the first full retail release. Still, though, it has been worth every penny.

Decided last minute to use that free $10 towards another year of PS+. Not going to beat $40 for 15 months (unless Target has another "sale").

I think the 3 free months ends either today or tomorrow so best get on it if you still haven't.

I'm proud of you bro.

I think PS+ is the best "service" created for gaming. Steam coming in second
what is the target sale i keep hearing about?
In 2011 a Target ad Misprinted PS+ cards for $15(was it $15?)

People came and took every single card off the rack. Target instead of bailing out, chose to honor the ad.

Although target might not have killer deals that single act of unselfishness made alot of gamers respect the retailer

What do you guys think will happen with PSN/PS+ for the PS3 when the PS4 comes out and they start focusing more on it? Do you think we'll lose the games when they eventually pull online for the PS3 (like MS did with the original XBOX so now you can't download old DLC, for example) or will they also be available on the PS4?

Sony is pretty good at supporting previous systems and they famously called the PS3 a "10 year" system. This means we could have another 3 years of support (maybe even more), which is something to think about.

With that being said, I think PS3 plus will last a while and will start getting better games as companies release next gen sequels. This would motivate people to not only buy their game, but adopt the next generation. It's also possible we will see PSN content working on the PS4 at one point, though hard to say.

They will continue to support the ps3 for years. They will still be selling them.
^ All $17 worth.
Well, to be fair, I actually paid the full retail amount for my first year and maybe even my second (which I think I renewed using my PSN funds when they offered the Jurassic Park game as a bonus - another game I have yet to play). That Target thing was relatively recent compared to PS+ itself.

So my total cost is more than $17 per year if you average it out ;). Still worth it though.

I'm counting on PS+ jumping over to the PS4. I mean, they support it on the Vita, and that looks like it is supposed to be a "companion" system to the PS4, so I don't see why they wouldn't continue it there. However, I will hold off on using my last Target card (I think I got 3 total) until after the PS4 launch and PS4 PS+ details are hammered out. I don't have to rewew for more than 2 years.

yea, i got 2 or 3 target cards, but i finally added the final 2 only a couple weeks before the 3 month bonus promotion started. funny how even a ridiculously good deal (years at $15) manages to burn a bit when you lose out on 6 free months due to a couple weeks. cag to the bone, i guess.

So, I just got my PS3 today. Will it be worth it to get PS+ even when I'm not looking to upgrade to the PS4 or get a Vita in the upcoming year? They'll still give out free games when PS4 comes out, right?

If you up now before Tuesday update (best to do it tonight as the PSN store will be down for maintenance part of tomorrow) by buying a year from your wallet for $49.99 you'll get an extra 3 months (putting the end date in early June 2014) and a credit for $10 to your wallet in April, a better deal on it doesn't come along often. Even if the free game options start to suck at the launch of the PS4, they'll still probably do periodic sales on stuff and PS+ will give you a higher discount.

was thinking of Motorstorm RC Complete and maybe Life of Pixel
Decided last minute to use that free $10 towards another year of PS+. Not going to beat $40 for 15 months (unless Target has another "sale").

I think the 3 free months ends either today or tomorrow so best get on it if you still haven't.
Actually $30 because you will be getting $10 back in April.
I felt that way but then I remembered I still had a couple of cards from that Target deal. So it was sort of a no-brainer to apply one of those with the current +3 month promo.

yea, i got 2 or 3 target cards, but i finally added the final 2 only a couple weeks before the 3 month bonus promotion started. funny how even a ridiculously good deal (years at $15) manages to burn a bit when you lose out on 6 free months due to a couple weeks. cag to the bone, i guess.
Unless the current promo is totally different than all the preceding ones, the +3 months only kicks in if you spend 49.99 directly out of your PSN wallet. Redeeming prepaid 1-yr cards (like the ones from that glorious Target error) shouldn't entitle you to anything additional, so no need to feel down Affa. ;)

EDIT: Huh, well I'll be. Checked the PS Blog and HTZ was right; pre-paid cards do work for this promo. I believe that's the first time they've opened it up that way. Sorry for extending false peace of mind Affa!
I think they'll support it for a few years on PS3 (not any time soon on PS4 though, the PS4 will not be backwards compatible with any previous gen games) and hopefully get their streaming service or something going by then so that the PS4 and pretty much every other device can support older games.

Well I haven't been paying attention so dont know how it works really, but I spent $23.xx out of my PSN wallet + the remaining amount on my credit card. The total was $49.99 so I assumed I would need to spend another penny, but then I may have read somewhere here that it qualifies regardless? I don't know, either way the deal is good enough for me. Will be awesome though if I get another $10 back for it :)

Redeeming the PS+ pre-paid cards like the ones from Target, do give you the extra 3 months.

I don't know how the PS3 handles credit card payments (whether it puts the money into your wallet first) but I'm pretty sure the $10 back for spending $50 requires the money to be spent from your wallet to qualify. So you might want to put more money into your wallet and spend it to reach $50 from your wallet before the expiration date in April.

Sony said themselves on their blog that $49.99 PS+ subs alone would qualify. I haven't seen Sony say that $49.99 that is not PS+ sub would qualify as well. So maybe maybe not for that.

OMG! I am SOOOOOOO HOOKED on Plants Vs Zombies!!!!!!!!!!!:hot::drool::shock:

Haven't ever run my Vita battery down so much!!!!!!! Gotta keep it plugged in!:whee:

I can't decide about Ridge Racer 7 3D after playing the demo. I know it's old and simple, but the graphics are good, the 3D is nice, and drifting properly does take some skill. Googling it was difficult to find out if there are more race tracks to buy as DLC or they're all included. I didn't see any in the PSN Store. I looked online and only saw 2 players, so I guess the online community is all but dead. I think the sale price of $9.99 ends tomorrow night, but I've been burned almost every time I pay $9.99 or more for something l(like Hydrophobia Prophecy) as those usually drop to $2-$5 soon after I buy. That experience has made me very reluctant to buy anything over $5.

Do people think Ridge Racer 7 3D is likely to have bigger price drops in the near future (next several months) if I wait or is it unlikely to drop massively in price like Hydrophobia Prophecy did?

Doh, you're probably right it says from your wallet so I guess only the $23.xx I spent directly from my wallet will count towards the $50 total. Lame. I should have paid attention to that extra deal before jumping in and buying.

Purchased another year of PS+ and Vagrant Story. With that free $10 PSN code they gave me recently and the 3 months bonus, this turned out awesome.

No, he's not. Unless they changed things with the new store, credit card amounts go to your wallet first and then it all comes out of the wallet.

i hope not crysis. i just got that free for crysis 3 preorder. rather psabr cuz i bought it used with no online pass, doh! my bad. but at least got free vita version cuz 'disk benefits' not claimed.
Is it crysis 1? For #1 it might be
While it could quite literally be any shooter out there (As I've already mentioned, needing to state it wasn't inversion after saying critically acclaimed doesn't inspire confidence.), I doubt it's Crysis. Now it could be Crysis 2, since EU got that and 3 just came out, but I don't recall a lot of acclaim for the series. Mostly just people stunned by how good it looked or complainers pointing out how the game sucked at details.

Even if they changed it (not that I can see why), Sony would get WAY too many complaints if they didn't honor it, that you shouldn't worry.

See its always good to look at the plus side of the situation given.

Watch everybody flip when the free game is BRINK!
