Sorry, but if you think its a shooter you were playing it incorrectly. I'm guessing your score was pretty terrible if you stood around and shot everybody.
It is a shooter.

Vanquish is a third-person SHOOTER video game developed by Platinum Games and published by Sega for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles. Having been in development since 2007, the game was released in October 2010.

Vanquish is a sci-fi third-person action SHOOTER with a fast, fluid and frenetic combat system, and an engaging and immersive storyline.

Genre: Third-Person SHOOTER

You're not even trying anymore.

Lol, you haven't even played it. You're just butthurt about the Walking Dead thread. Get a life, dude.

Anyone who plays it as a shooter is probably a scrub who couldn't play it properly anyway.

I'm not butthurt about anything. You're trying to disapprove facts and I'm proving you wrong. It was designed to be a shooter and meant to be played as one. It's a Gears of War/cover shooter clone. Keyword in that is shooter. You have guns, you take cover, and you shoot. Occasionally there's some melee mixed in, but it's not much deeper than that.

Wow dude, I literally thought you hadn't played it. Turns out you're just really ignorant and kinda fucking stupid.

I understand what it was marketed as, but if you think it was meant to be played as a "Gears of War/cover shooter clone", you're a fucking moron.

I just want to make it clear that I fired very few shots in the game, lol. I understand you're completely free to go soldier style and waste hours hiding behind cover, but I really pity anyone who wasted their time on the game for that kind of gameplay.

I mean, how did you even manage to get interested in the game in that context?

Then explain to me what genre it is and how it's meant to be played? Why is it marketed as something that it's not meant to be played as? Why would SEGA label it as third-person shooter and expect anyone to not play it as a shooter?

I get kind of bored with the shoot/cover/shoot gameplay, but the game had a charm about it and had some visual flair, so I chugged through it. The over the top action made it fun. I understand that there are different ways to play the game, but in the end, I still say it's a shooter. Agree to disagree, I guess. We should probably stop arguing anyway. We've already gone way off topic.

People can play however they like it, "fired few shots" in a shooter doesn't sound fun to me at all

Back on topic relatively, anyone know when PS Store will be back up (it said down for maintenance about an hour ago) and I'm hoping to take advantage of some sale prices before the update tomorrow.

In case you were being serious, its an action game. It was marketed that way in the US because nobody buys anything but casual bullshit here, and cover based shooters are pretty much the definition of casual popcorn gaming.

Like I said, I barely fired a shot in my playthrough. I imagine if you went to youtube looking for high level play, you'd see very few shots fired. Like DMC or Bayonetta, its more about looking like a total badass while stringing together kill chains. Its hard to look like a badass when you're hiding behind a waist high wall waiting for an enemies animation to finish so you can take a shot and go back to hiding.

Honestly, i'm surprised anyone managed to finish the game playing that way. Wasn't it fucking boring?

How much will Under Defeat cost on PSN? I forgot I had it ordered from Newegg(not Amazon), so need to pick it up still. If it's $30 I'll just get the physical copy.

Digital copies are almost always the same price or even more than the physical copy. Very rarely do you see one cheaper.

Can we stop the fighting? Vanquish is a shooter... end of the discussion. Sure there are other elements, but the game is a shooter first and foremost. Now can we stop trolling and move onto something better?

Just because it's an action game, it can't be a shooter as well? And it did get a bit boring, but I don't think it would've been anymore exciting had I played it another way.

Thanks. I'll have time then tonight to get TerRover. I don't really want it but my son wanted to play more of the demo, so there goes my money.

Also, this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanquish
And this http://www.gamerankings.com/ps3/987822-vanquish/index.html

both say shooter in the description. Now can we get back to solving world hunger.

I never played the game, don't care about the game, I just want to find the relevant deal posts and these childish arguments fill up the whole board. Don't bother replying to my message that it isn't a shooter. I don't know if it is and I don't care.

next generation should come with 1 TB HDD as minimum
I agree. I just put a 500gb in a year ago and I only have 150gb left. 300gb in a year is a lot to take up.
And I bet Bayo is a hack and slash, right?

Bioshock 2 is an Undersea babysitting Sim.

Just cause there are added elements to a game doesn't take away the fact that you have a gun and have to shoot at times. I got frustrated with the boss sections where it loses all it's flair and becomes a boring cover based shooter.

Lol the thing that gets me is that he seems to think there's only one way to play that game and if you're not playing it that way, you're doing it wrong. Apparently when people say "shooter" it automatically means FPS. It's even worse when he acts like a child and tries to win the argument with "Turns out you're just really ignorant and kinda fucking stupid."

Did you play through DMC using only the pistol? This isn't as crazy as you dumbfucks who haven't played it think it is. Its a highly technical game. Anyone is welcome to play it as a shooter, i'm just pointing out that its not only boring as shit, its not the intention of the game.

This gen is hilarious. Every casual scrub on the planet has an opinion.

Wow I just noticed that Smart As...is $27. That seems like a lot of money for an IQ puzzle game thing.

And I noticed Vita Uncharted Golden Abyss is $36 and Vita Wipeout is $18. Two very popular games that I wanted costing $54 total. A year of PS+ cost me $50. Hooray! I officially made out in the deal in getting PS+.
This gen is hilarious. Every casual scrub on the planet has an opinion.
Crazy thought that. The problem with this gen isn't everyone having an opinion it's egotistical bullies who feel the need to piss on other's opinions. Why? Because you were raised by a TV/Computer screen and not held enough? Maybe it's because instead of your parents saying your ideas were stupid, like they were, they had to being encouraging of mediocrity. Whatever the problem... you've spent the whole day picking fights with people in one thread or another and it gets old.
Ignore list ftw
Thank you... I've actually never had to use it here before.

high score gameplay. Slowdance, have you played Vanquish?
Errr, that's not a great score and its on normal. I said "high level" gameplay (as in combo vids, difficult maneuvers etc) anyway.

Nice try though. Is that honestly the best you could find? I mean its kinda terrible.
Because publishers have different branches in each region who work out deals with the different regions of Sony
This is true, but to avoid a lot of backlash from frustrated fans (mostly in the US at the moment) I'd think that it would be possible for SCEA and SCEE to team up and make sure they could acquire the same game for each region before finalizing talks with publishers.
They've stated before that they're intentionally giving different games in different regions as they are developing their new PS+ strategy.

That being said, those that are complaining here should keep in mind that, thanks to our weak dollar, we are paying much less for games than those in Europe. They got a sale recently for 42% off of Battlefield 3, which brought the price down to €39.99, or $52.25 in American dollars.
Really confused why everyone here is so high on Vanquish. It's an average shooter with a sliding mechanic. Not to mention it's really cheap and has been for awhile.
It's not nearly as cheap as Bioshock 2. Seriously, I don't know if there's a cheaper retail game they could have possibly given us. It's been floating around the $5 mark for a while now. Vanquish is at $12 at the moment on Amazon, and any of the deals floating around CAG for it have been extremely YMMV.

Also, I think Vanquish was a very good game. It did enough unique things to stand out as a quality TPS in my eyes.
I'd like to use this chance to say bye to Slowdance. Say hi to us when you have a new user name
Isn't this like the 3rd time you've said something similar to that? Get a life, weirdo.

Not sure why you guys are reporting and ignoring Slowdance, all I have seen is a guy who has a strong opinion about a game that differs from others. He's not being belligerent or rude about it, just wants people to understand it can be played in different ways. That said it is completely off topic and should be taken to a different thread.

You're overlook the issue, which is never good. People aren't mad that EU is getting X and we're getting Y, people are mad at the difference in quality.

Lets look at last month (so we're fair to the US), now I don't recall 100% what we got, but I think it was...

Biohazard 5 with DLC
Dungeon Defenders
Quantum Conundrum

EU

Crysis 2
All 4 One (they always lacked it)
Cubixx HD

EU already had Biohazard 5 (and the DLC) and several other retail titles we never got, where as we just get a series of PSN titles. This is the problem people have with the US, since our overall quality seems lower. US plus needs to offer better titles (or at least newer ones) or offer more retail titles to end the complaints.
Isn't this like the 3rd time you've said something similar to that? Get a life, weirdo.
C'mon, man. Give it a rest. I agree that Vanquish isn't an "average" game, but that doesn't mean it's not a tps. There's action sequences here and there, as well as opportunities to melee. Overwhelmingly, though, you're shooting, lol. Just because you can manipulate time while doing it doesn't mean it isn't shooting. If your beef is with someone calling it average, address that.
