Dang, I thought only Shipwreck was so spreadsheet-crazy! I never once considered keeping track of games/DLC purchases/etc that way.
GLAD i waited! Man, Vita is turning into a serious platform for indies. Going to have start busting this thing out in starbucks.
I'd somehow never heard of this game, but at the PS+ price I'll probably pick it up based on how acclaimed it apparently is.

I really hope more indie devs start releasing on the Vita - stuff like Walking Dead would be awesome and when there's already an iOS/Android version available, they've already got it running on somewhat comparable hardware and have touch controls worked in.

There's no PS+ discount for it at the moment.

There are quite a few indie games coming to Vita in the future:

Bit.Trip Presents... Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien
Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrims HD
Frozen Synapse Tactics
The HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character
Hotline Miami
Lone Survivor
Machinarium
Superfrog HD
Thomas Was Alone
Velocity Ultra
Zombie Tycoon 2

And I know there are more coming that I couldn't find with a quick search.

I agree about indies on vita, but Telltale Games isn't an indie developer and Walking Dead isn't an indie game lol.
Binding of Isaac was confirmed recently as well! Looking forward to that as the KB+M controls for the original were a chore to adjust to.
I love BoI mechanically. I think the breadth of items is amazing, I love how choices matter and the combination of NES Zelda w/ Roguelike is brilliant. The grotesque subject matter isn't for everyone (even the cartoonish presentation can't curb my personal distaste for it), but it's worth putting up with because the game is so well-crafted.

Yeah the BoI remake is coming to Vita, I cant wait.

Will be grabbing Machinarium, have the game on Steam but I had an issue with my save being lost. Trippy but fun game.

That one's especially big because the developers refuse to add controller support to the PC version, so it has to be done by hand with a separate program for those that want to go that far.
Frisky can we have a peek of your spreadshot, or at least what details you got per game?
i used to have all my ps2 games documented. I did the same with my psn games last year but got busy/lost track.
iv been digging backloggery.com but havnt kept up to date too much.
I like to have my digital stuff written down so I at least remember what I own/ps+ rent/etc.
I wish Shipwreck shared more spreadshots of his like the games all 3 play all year.

im not MVP and im ok at trophies and community, psn spending, etc. im not butt hurt tho. Im playstation underground ;).
Here's a screencap with details on what I did below it:
GCexample.jpg

This is a fairly basic spreadsheet design and I've only gotten five of the 19 pages that it'll have once I'm done transferring it over. I have the game, game type, price, date purchased, whether it's been completed and/or beaten, size, time played, and notes for how I got it beyond just buying it. I'm a fairly big stat keeper, so I keep track of as many stats as I find relevant to what I'm interested in know about the games I own. Though there's one game listed as a sale there, I stopped that early on once I saw how much work I had to do just to compile the list the first time. Time is only based on what each game, the Wii/Wii U, and 3DS' Activity Logs, or Ratpr tracks since I'm not going to go that far for that. The same is said for pricing and purchase date, so that stuff will be more accurate for more recent platforms/games than my old stuff.

To the right is a set of stats compiled about the list like a breakdown of the total number of games, how much space they take up, how much money's spent on them, and how much time was spent on them along with averages for appropriate games. Size isn't on the 3DS page since the games are in blocks, though I may finally go through and tally that stuff anyway even though the 3DS is crazy in regards to that stuff. I use fairly basic COUNT, SUM, and division formulas for this stuff, so there's nothing fancy going on there.

The problem with the whole transferring process is that the formulas don't transfer over, so I have to do the copy transfer first and follow it up by copying each formula from the local spreadsheet to the GD spreadsheet. That's why it's not done just yet.

If you see the "Front Page" page on the bottom, that is an overview page of the entire collection to keep track of total games across all platforms that references the total/physical/digital games count, beaten/completed count, and cost from each page. Then I have formulas doing totals for everything together along with averages to see how they stack up. I didn't even figure out how to just pull from each platform's page until I started transferring the spreadsheets to Google Drive, so that helps out a lot.

Feel free to ask questions if you have any.
True, but you are talking about different consoles. There are different standards when it's the same platform line. Maybe I need to buy a new PvZ for PC after I've bought on the iPhone. But, I don't have to buy a new PvZ when I go from iPhone 4S to iPhone 5.
i don't agree. plenty of consoles haven't been BC over the decades. it's unreasonable to expect them to be, especially when media formats change. it adds cost all around for a feature everybody thinks they want but few actually take advantage of. I know PC operating systems have had BC issues, though I don't know much about the mac/apple world other than, as someone else stated, my first gen ipad is already turning into a brick as i can't even patch many games i own anymore.
That one's especially big because the developers refuse to add controller support to the PC version, so it has to be done by hand with a separate program for those that want to go that far.
It's definitely worth going that far because the keyboard controls are terrible imo.
It's definitely worth going that far because the keyboard controls are terrible imo.
I do, but the reason I don't play it as much as I'd like is because there's more to it than just starting up the game. I have to start up this separate program to make it work on a controller. Instead, I'll end up waiting for the remake to get the best experience of all.

That's an extremely common reason that I see for people being excited in the Vita version, even from those that go through the hassle of getting controller support for the PC version to work.

Quick question. I got a one month ps+ trial. However I have ps+ paid off until december. Will the one month tack on to make it good til the end of January? Or does it just add into what I have already making it better to give away to a friend?
I've got an excel spreadsheet of every physical and digital game I own that I'm slowly transferring over from a local copy to Google Drive and doing fancy things I didn't think of before to make it work a lot more automatically than it did before.
And I thought I was the only maniac with an excel spreadsheet of every physical PS3 game I've bought: cost, retailer, trades, resell profit/loss margins, etc (most of my digital games and PS+ memberships were bought with gift cards), glad to see I'm not alone :D
im not MVP and im ok at trophies and community, psn spending, etc. im not butt hurt tho. Im playstation underground ;).
Then if you are not a PS3 MVP I don't get which are the damn requierments to qualify.

The only thing I'm seeing about Terraria on Vita is that they're looking into it, which is far from is coming out this month. I don't see a single thing about Giana Sisters on Vita at all from a google search.

sorry I meant they are both coming to PSN not Vita, my reading comprehension is a bit low at the moment (its been a long day). Terraria originally had a Feb/Mar release date announced but the chance of it coming out by the end of the month are slim since the developers haven't released a solid release date. Giana Sisters on the other hand is coming out 3/20 on XBLA and "a few days later" on PSN according to the devs and you are right this one has no plans for a vita version that I know of
Quick question. I got a one month ps+ trial. However I have ps+ paid off until december. Will the one month tack on to make it good til the end of January? Or does it just add into what I have already making it better to give away to a friend?

It will add an extra 30 days to your subscription.
Well crap. I thought for some reason you could not add a trial to an existing PS+ account. I gave my code away on the drop thread. Oh well. I guess I was rewarded though since I logged on today and found a $10 code waiting. Not sure what to buy though. Thinking I Am Alive but I would not mind getting 2 free games out of the credit.

If you're talking about the most recent 30-day trials from PlayStation.fr, I don't think those stack since anyone could have grabbed a dozen of them and had a year's worth of PS+ pro bono.

I'll be doing a stream of God of War: Ascension single-player and maybe multiplayer if my bandwidth allows, if anybody here wants to see it in action. If MP doesn't work out, I'll switch over to Bit.Trip Presents... Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien for the second half.

I had one from the GoW: Origins Collection. It is not a huge deal but I would have added it if I thought it would have worked.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing Frisky. Yours are quite a bit more in-depth than mine. I should have kept track of prices from the beginning, but I didn't. I just keep track of game and date purchased, and whether I've beat it or not.

There has even been rumblings of Minecraft on PS3 (and hopefully Vita). Honestly, Mojang would be stupid not to do it after their 360-exclusivity deal is over. Minecraft sells like crazy and I'd LOVE to have it on my Vita.

I have my prices but never thought of putting whether I beat them or not and the play time. I guess I might be revising my spreadsheets. Another task to keep the illusion of being busy. :D

I'd imagine that they locked up console exclusivity for a while, so PS4/Vita would probably be more likely. Terraria should be a nice alternative for the time being on PS3.

I just tried out the Asphalt Vita demo, and it's not bad. It's not Forza, but it's not bad at all. I think I'll pick that one up. I need a good driving game for the Vita. Wipeout is a little too twitchy, and Motorstorm RC... isn't driving.

Was just coming to say I like Asphalt! Worth every penny!:)
For anyone who has bought Scott Pilgrim versus the world online dlc how is it? I heard it lags badly is that the case?
I played an online game 2 nights ago and had no lag at all.

I would be pretty floored if they bought more than 1 year of exclusivity, personally. That's not to say a PS3 version is likely, but I don't think that would be the issue at all.

I'm not sure what most peoples experience has been, but mine has involved constantly being kicked to the title screen after joining 3 other players. Its hard locked my brand new PS3 4 times. Once, it turned all characters to pink and blue blocks when a member disconnected mid game.

Occasionally I connect to somebody and we can play several levels together with no issue, but it doesn't happen often. I've had several people that saw me in lobbies before we were all kicked send PSN messages just asking if I have been able to join any games, so i'm inclined to believe its a fairly widespread problem

I switched to wired connection, no change really. I've even gotten errors that said "All servers full" or something to that effect when there are literally like 6 games showing. Unless i'm just doing something terribly wrong, it's fairly broken. I've probably played 6 levels online after about 3 hours of constantly trying to connect.

So, just a follow up on Scott Pilgrim. I hosted games myself for the last few hours and it has actually been completely smooth, for me at least. I did have 2 people disconnect, but that was after several levels. Anyway, not sure what to think about that, but i'm happy it's at least working for me now.

I don't usually host just because I don't want to disband a game if I want to leave (no migration in this game), but its no biggie really.

When does the PSN blog usually announce the upcoming week's new deals? Waiting to see if there's anything else good next week I should spend money on instead of buying Rayman Origins now.

I'm having trouble finding it, but does anyone remember the US freebies for the R&C:FFA Vita delay? Are there any? All I can find is EU info. Was thinking about grabbing that to round out my $50 for the month.

Psssst, there's a free public beta for Gundam Breaker up on the Japanese PSN Store now. A little over 1 GB. I haven't finished downloading it yet, but it looks similar to Gundam: Battle Operation, as far as I can tell from what I've found online: multiplayer third-person battles and mobile suit customization. It's on the front page of the PSN store when you log in.

I'm a few hours into Ozu no Mahoutsukai now. Pretty cool concept for a game. It's described as an RPG, but it plays more like Harvest Moon or a point-and-click adventure or something. There are no battles; instead, the gameplay involves walking around outside, looking for ingredients to use in recipes which are used in quests. In that regard, it's a little like the Alchemist games. The level of Japanese you need to play is somewhere in the beginner- to intermediate- range. The only walkthroughs I've been able to find are from antique Japanese websites (ohh the HTML tables, lol), so I might end up writing a walkthrough / translation guide at some point.
Has there been any mention of what we have to do to qualify for Deadlocked? Do we have to have the game in our play history or anything?
Thanks for the update. Just out of curiosity, is there a deadline for when you have to buy FFA on the PS3 to take advantage of the free Deadlocked?

Nope, there is no deadline. If at any point you purchase FFA for PS3 in NA, you will get both FFA for the Vita and Deadlocked when they are released.

Thanks...guess I should have read the comments before asking.

I'm still debating how to spend $50 on psn, but I'm going to pick up some psn credit with doa5+ on Tuesday, so I think it's gonna be GGXXAC (15), Darkstalkers (15), Nikoli's Sudoku (5), Sound Shapes (2), and then I have to plan after that.

No MVP here, but whatever.

(been downed with the flu, plus just came back from a vacation, so I haven't touched any of my games recently, and my backlog is blowing up...)

Here's The Drop for this week:
PS3

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (Also on PSN) - The Walking Dead video game takes the undead and brings them out of the AMC Emmy award-winning TV show and into console gaming systems in a new, terrifying way. Terminal Reality’s first-person action game will allow players to assume the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon on an unforgiving quest to the supposed safety of Atlanta. The iconic walkers will relentlessly hunt down players like their television counterparts using a combination of sight, sound, and smell. As Daryl, players will need to tread carefully throughout each new area they explore. Once discovered, it doesn’t take much to attract an unstoppable horde of undead walkers, so every threat needs to be assessed, and every situation analyzed. No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside, alongside his overbearing brother Merle, in this new, post-apocalyptic world.

Dead or Alive 5 Plus (PS3/PS Vita Cross Play) – With a sensual yet realistic style, characters are rendered in incredibly lifelike detail. New touch controls bring a completely new experience to fighting games. Simple taps, swipes, and pinches on your opponent trigger a variety of devastating moves. Using the Vita’s motion sensor, you can even play vertically for a first-person, full-screen view of your opponent. Both novice and expert players will also find even more ways to up their game with new training-focused modes and a new display of advanced frame data that reveals twice the amount of information for each move compared to previous versions. Tournament players will spend hours analyzing the best moves for their fights.

Carnage Heart EXA (PSP/PS Vita) – The centerpiece of Carnage Heart EXA is the design and implementation of giant robots called Overkill Engines (OKE). By themselves, these robots are unimpressive; only by hardware and software modifications do they become truly terrifying machines. Players will have a multitude of hardware and software options to add to their OKEs including weapons, fuel tanks, armor thickness, and more.

Dollar Dash (PS3) – Dollar Dash will have you shouting for joy and screaming in despair, as you make a dash with the cash. You must attack, defend or outrun your fellow thieves using unique comedic tactics and crazy weapons while making sure you deposit your hard-earned cash in the getaway vehicle before it disappears, hold onto the safe or simply blast your opponent on your way to victory.

Hogs of War – Six nations fight for control of Saustralasia in Hogs of War. You side with one of the nations and fight through 25 levels of turn-based action. However, your army is rather unique: it is comprised of pigs. Yes, the smartest of all barnyard animals have decided to wage a war for resources. On each turn, you control one pig for a set amount of time. You can move the animal and attack the enemy, and when time is up you switch to another soldier in the three- to five-member team. After all of your swine have moved, the enemies take their turn in a similar manner.
