When I transitioned at the beginning of this console generation, PS3 and 360 were pretty decent compared to PCs, and my PC at the time could barely keep up. Threading has gotten much more mature since then, and now I'm heading back to PCs. So I can see Cheapy's POV. I just hope there's not a video game crash coming up, because of the perceived lull.
Maybe if they used that dev time & resources on fleshing out single player it could have been a better game, with Metacritic score of 93-95 instead.
Multiplayer was made by a completely different studio, which was Digital Extremes, makers of Dark Sector and The Darkness II.

When is the next PSN sale around what time frame? Also has SNK Classics ever gone on sale before? Debating whether to just go ahead n get it for $20 or wait for next sale.

same for me, I was primarily a console gamer (PS3 & 360) around 2006-2009, then the gap between PC games and consoles just get bigger and bigger. Why would you play Far Cry 3 (for example) on consoles if you have a gaming PC? the difference is huge.

That comment goes with every iteration of systems. Towards the end of the cycle PC games are the better looking games. With GPU's updating every 12-18 months this is inevitable. Maybe Valve will change that, but there is only so much you can squeeze out of a 6 year old GPU. Of course the computer graphics will look better. Happened with all of the Playstation cycles.

The consoles have the advantage for a while about 12-18 months after they are out and it is usually that way for another 12-36 months. Depends on how much power is there and how much they can optimize. Way easier to optimize on a set platform (CPU & GPU) than to have to worry about the whole gambit. That's why PC gamers will always get the shaft. You always have some group of "me too" people who want to run Crysis 2 with their GT8800 at 1920x1200 with 16x AA. Don't have to worry about that on the consoles.

/my 2 cents...maybe more like a dime.

Unlikely.

I did say resources and money is resources. I doubt Digital Extremes did it all for free. That money could have been invested differently than a tack-on multiplayer.

Go on. How should that money have been invested that would've improved the Metacritic score? They already had a few studios working on the single-player, so there's not much that you could add there.

Slightly off topic:
I purchased Persona 3 PSP from the previous sale. From the main menu, there is an option to do a data download thing on the memory card (I'm using a Vita). Since the full game is already downloaded, does this do anything besides waste memory?

I'd say install it & see if you notice any difference. If you don't, go ahead & remove it. I assume since you already downloaded the game, it'll already have faster load times since it's not reading it off an UMD.

The install will likely do nothing using digital versions; the option is just there because the games are pretty much direct copies of the UMD version.

That's just a remnant of the UMD version, which used it to offer near-instantaneous load times. Since you have the digital version, that's not really necessary anymore, but you can still try it if you want and delete it if it doesn't improve anything.
People like me will never play games on PC. I do not like it, I do not care about graphics and nor do I care if the games are cheaper. A better question is why PC gamers are so adamant about changing our minds over what we simply prefer.
i'm no pc gamer, but why do you not care about graphics or cheaper prices?

Please tell me Sony is firing everyone involved in the latest PS store overhaul. It is absolutely THE worst pos I've EVER seen. I mean holy hell it doesn't work at all.
Please tell me Sony is firing everyone involved in the latest PS store overhaul. It is absolutely THE worst pos I've EVER seen. I mean holy hell it doesn't work at all.
It is absolutely horrible and a shining example of trying to fix something that isn't broken.

Come on Sega, put the Model 2 fighting games on sale. I'll buy all three of them at $3 or less.

Nice to see I am not alone at my feelings they totally messed up the Store with there so called "improvements"

It was so easy to see what was actually new or on sale
I like the new store except that it's too damn slow.
agreed, especially when you try to redeem those PSN cards
Well, those games are the ones I have personal experience with, and some work, and others don't. it depends on how the game devs decided to do it

I should have been clearer I suppose.
No problem.
Ratchet & Clank All 4 One and Burnout Paradise aren't able to use disc saves because their digital versions are basically a unique version that saves to a new folder instead of being the same as what was released on disc.

Infamous does work with disc saves, as I wouldn't have finished the game if that weren't the case. Infamous 2, Just Cause 2, LBP, LBP2, Warhawk, and AC Brotherhood are others that I've gotten that worked with my disc saves.

The "easy" way to check if you don't see any information about it in a Google search is to grab the Full Game Trial, which will tell you instantly if your disc save works when you start it up.
Ok thanks Frisky.

Trying to find old DLC on the store is quite possibly the most rage inducing thing ever. Unless you know the exact name, or the actual game is being sold, your shit outta luck.

Took me like 5 minutes to find some Street Fighter 4 DLC I could have found in 10 seconds on the old store.

Did you guys notice this yet?

In the Xmb whats new section, under the ps plus for vita pic, it says you get these 4 games, and one of them is Unit 13, maybe its the new vita game later this month? the other 3 games are already available

That's actually for the IGC Vita bundle (seen here). Includes a download voucher for Unit 13 as well as a one year PS+ membership.

Aw damn, I wouldve liked Unit 13, disregard that than

We'll prob get Mortal Kombat instead :(

Don't bother. He's just talking out of his ass at this point.

It is different for sure but I've found that the DLC is all now in the game section itself. Just find the game, go down on the little left-hand side to the DLC section and scroll alphabetically through the choices.
Wasn't the Gundemonium Collection supposed to be on sale this week?!
It was listed for a few minutes under last week's deals with a bunch of other games, but it seems it was a mistake & might've been put up too early. Hopefully, it'll be on sale soon enough with the prices mentioned, as I've been waiting for quite some time for that collection to be on sale.
Excited to hear Sony bringing a Wii U experience on PS3/Vita next week with LBP2! Now I don't feel so bad returning the Wii U for the Vita if Sony keeps adding more games with this Cross Controller feature.

booo on them though for charging $5 for it instead of using it as a free marketing tool for the Vita second screen experience. I'm sure they're sick to death of giving stuff away, but if everyone thinks the next gen fight will be partially based on the second screen better to start now than too late.

I'm interested to see if any other games actually try to utilize this. It does seem like a good, fun idea if it can be well implemented into the game. However, I don't think we'll see a whole lot of this.

All that being said, I think you definitely made the right call exchanging the Wii U for the Vita. I've only had mine for about a month but I've really enjoyed it. And those who say the Vita has no games are crazy.

$5 isn't much to gain access to all the free user created vita LBP levels(which are bound to happen) in addition to the media molecule levels.

PS+ and Amazon's BF deal pushed me over to buy it. The Cross Controller feature could benefit Nintendo also by giving more incentive to third party developers to make 2 screen featured games more available.

Vita's had this feature for a few months now...

Which games? The PS Blog says LBP2 is the first game to utilize this feature.

Cross Play = Play against PS3 gamers on the Vita or vice versa.
Cross Buy = Get a digital copy of the Vita version with PS3 version purchase.
Cross Controller = 2 screen gameplay similar to Wii U gamepad.

I think your getting it mixed up with Cross Play. Cross Controller was just recently announced.

Edit: I also forgot Cross Save which allows you use the same save file on both systems stored in the cloud.
Which games? The PS Blog says LBP2 is the first game to utilize this feature.
He's wrong, there isn't a single PS3/Vita game currently out that makes use of both screens for gameplay at the same time.

Up until today, there were only two games that I knew of that were going to support cross-controller and they were Guacamelee and the new Sly Cooper. So this LBP2 news is a pleasant surprise.

This is actually the first time I've ever heard of cross-controller support, so knowing that there are a few games ready to support it is pretty cool!

I think he's referring to remote play and games like God of War where you can play the PS3 game via the Vita. Now that I see these options, Sony really does have quite a few irons in the fire with Vita and PS3 cross-compatibility. Let's hope they can convince 3rd parties to utilize it and not make it an afterthought.

If it's like all of the other big DLC for LBP games, you don't need to pay for the DLC to play the community levels using the new stuff. You do get the Media Molecule-made levels and the tools to make levels with the new features yourself, but it doesn't cost anything to check them out with what the users have made with it. That's how it's worked with all of the other DLC that has added big new things to the way levels are made (paint gun, water, Move controls, and probably Vita support).

That's sort of what this is saying, but it's not worded very well at all.

Kinda off topic but didn't Dreamcast have something similar to a 2 screen gameplay? I remember playing some mini game on the memory card. I think it was sky of arcadia.

It had the VMU.

I'm currently building a Wiki Thread for the PS3 forum where we can document retail save compatability with PSN versions of those games, which is a lot more involving than I thought at first since there could be more SKUs than just the normal release that could all be different versions as far as saves are concerned. I'll post a link when it's ready, but this will be an interesting list to see how it evolves over time.

Hasnt sony been talking about cross controller since the psp? Lol about time. I remember the mgs4 rumor with psp being a controller.
