Anyone have any thoughts on the Wipeout Omega Collection? The reviews look pretty good, but some people complain about difficulty spikes later on the game. 

 
I know a few pages back someone asked what pinball tables (for zen pinball 3) were good for beginners, but what i'm wondering is which out of the bunch would you recommend above all else? What is your favorite set of tables?

Pretty much this. I love me arcade racers, and Wipeout is a -tremendous- arcade racer, but it is HARD.

You've got speed strips to hit if you want the best time.

You've got air bracks and side shifting.

You've got barrel rolls to pull off during jumps to get a speed boost when you land.

You've got weapons.

You've got hard to pull off shortcuts.

All this at hyperspeeds.

It's... amazing, really. But -really- hard to master. This should not deter you from giving it a try - Wipeout really is top of the line... but it's hard as nails to master.

 
Plus, if you wish to platinum it, you also have to beat Zico's lap time on certain tracks, and he's like the best WipEout player ever.

Nah but I thoroughly enjoy the game, I'll be passing about the $120 Mark with this purchase but I easily have 1000 hours in the game. Great value. The new meta is fantastic too

 
So.   I have a copy of Lego LOTR for PS3.   I've always wanted to play it, but we've been really hit and miss with lego games.  Specifically, both my wife and I absolutely loved Indiana Jones, and nothing else has really lived up to that [tried batman, marvel on ps4, and the star wars collection on ps3].    Anyone have any feedback on LOTR?  I'm not sure why Indiana had that magic for us the others didn't.   

If we get rid of it, it'll be donated to a family in need, so it's for a good cause.  But we're already donating other stuff [in addition to buying stuff new] so it's not like I -need- to give it away or anything [if it was on ps4 i'd just give it away and rebuy].

Booted up the Destiny 2 trial and I'm really confused ... I thought this was a multiplayer game? They just dropped me into a bunch of cinematics and terrible boring linear hallway shooting segments.

Tried to quit out and find how to play the multiplayer but no luck. I get the impression this "trial" is actually just a demo, not a trial.

I'm sure the game doesn't suck as badly as this demo, I've seen clips of it online and streaming and stuff and it looks fun and I know people like it. But my god, this demo is garbage and definitely made me more hesitant to buy the game than I was before I opened the demo.

edit: never mind, Destiny 2 just for some reason opens up with a really bad linear design first person shooter segment that functions as a very long, unskippable cinematic.

God damn these different dates thing. I wanted Don't Knock Twice for $9.99, but I waited in the off-chance that I received a 20% off code or some good Samaritan had one to spare. For some reason, I thought it expired 12/19. I fucking hate myself.

I don't remember there ever being one on Christmas.. but the weekend of New Years seems primed for a flash sale with the way the days line up.. so that would be my bet. Then again we didn't even get one last month, so who knows?

Did you go in completely blind? Destiny is a sort-of MMO, most of the multiplayer is co-op exploration/story missions as well as instanced Strikes and Raids, with a lot able to be done solo. The PvP is a smaller part of the whole game.
 
Has anyone here played Yomawari: Midnight Shadows at all? It was on IGN’s best horror games of 2017 list. I was just curious on people’s opinions. I’d never heard of it before now.

Also, is it cross buy?

Well, I did it. I purchased 10 games for about $20. I would have splurged on more expensive titles IF I HAD A 20% COUPON but oh well. Hard to feel bad at that price. And I managed to do it before a few sales expired this morning (RIP, Don't Knock Twice).

I still have another 20 titles on my "want list" for this PSN sale, but they're a bit pricier so I might wuss out. I also want to hold out for whatever treasures may lie in wait.

I seriously have 1000 games to play and not enough time in the world.  :-({|=

I never was fanatical about trophies/achievements. There was a time in another dead thread where we had a friendly competition to see who could get the most plats or whatever each month or finish the most games or whatever. We would look at each others stats month to month. It was fun. I really didn't buy games I thought were crap just for easy plats. I agree with another poster who said it is interesting looking at other peoples trophies and achievements to see what they played and what they fully completed.

I had a 2DS for a while didn't play it much. I missed the trophy or achievement pop. If I like a game and feel the achievements aren't out of my reach I will give it a go. Just another pointless milestone.

I never said I have anything against trophies in general. The three main reasons to play a game are fun, story, and challenge, and trophies tie into the latter. The only thing that trips me up is the admitted buying games just for easy/cheap trophies.

It's a solid game that I played through on the PS2, but I STILL have nightmares about one of the "mapping" mechanics in the game. Basically, you can walk all around an area to get 100% discovered and some bonuses, BUT you have to push your character around the edge of every damned bit of geometry in the level to get it... and some are bugged. Drove me fucking nuts.

I found it to drag on a bit, it's a huge game with a huge story.

However I hated how later on in the game that the enemies were just damage sponges who could only be defeated in specific ways.

Also.. the plot twist still bugs me to this day and it's a twist that taints the ENTIRE Star Ocean series retroactively.

 
I never did beat star Ocean back on the ps2 and I believe I was towards the very end in some never ending dungeon with no escape.Yes that plot twist that Jiryn mentioned was one of those WTF moments.

Wonder if there’s any hope of having Ys VIII in a potential flash sale this weekend. It’s still not on sale today and, of course, was only on sale on Vita on Black Friday.
