I'm not a guitar solo expert, but does Megadeth's "Hangar 18" count? About 70-80% of it is rock guitar with no vocals. :joystick:

So, speaking of guitar solos and then Megadeth made me remember this:

I had to go to my computer to watch that because stupid YouTube rights or some shit, but it was worth it.

Question for you guys:

I managed to score a mint Vita 2000 for ~$85 recently, but I'm not sure what I want to do with it. As it stands, I'm fine with my Crystal White Vita 1000 in terms of its battery life, as I'm usually home anyway when I need to charge it, plus I enjoy the OLED screen. Also, I have a Vault case that I've used with that Vita for quite some time now.

I'm aware of the Vita 2000's "enhancements" to its buttons, Vita card slot, and battery life, but I'm concerned that the LCD will be drastically inferior to the OLED, plus I don't see any good carrying cases for the Vita 2000 at the moment.

Any thoughts as to what I should do with the Vita 2000? Thanks in advance.

The LCD is not really inferior to the OLED. I've got both and the LCD has been perfectly fine on all games the games I've played so far. Upcoming games will be color-calibrated for the LCD, not the OLED, and so the OLED will end up looking worse on those games. Additionally if you do Remote Play (or will in the future) or plan to use Playstation Now, the 2000 will be the superior screen there as well since those games are aimed at LCDs. If you look there are comments online about Second Son for example not looking right on the 1000 and much better on the 2000.

Personally I leave my 1000 at home and I keep my 2000 at work for lunch gaming. The next exploit that comes out I'll put on the 2000 so I can play those games not on PSN while still retaining access to PSN with the 1000. So it'll let me play Type-0, La Pucelle: Ragnarok, Star Ocean 1 + 2, FFT: WotL (patched for the speed issue), etc..

Is there a game on the Vita like Advance Wars or Military Madness?
There are quite a few turn-based strategy games for PSP that are playable on Vita. Jeanne D'Arc, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, and Disgaea being probably the biggest ones. None that have quite the same approach as AW/MM, though.

Field Commander is a straight up Advance Wars clone but in 3D.

Tom Clancy's EndWar is also another Advance Wars clone which uses hex grids instead of the square grids of AW.

Yeah, I was looking more of an army based game.

Thanks, this should hold me off. Any word if another game will be coming out on Vita down the road?

Its never too early to start drinking as long as you dont have any responsibilities at that time.
This. I had to replace the flush valve on a toilet this morning and I'm pretty sure that drinking beer is a requirement any time you're taking a toilet apart.

Somebody asked on the blog how they were going to handle the TLOU price drop with respect to people that already paid $60 for the pre-order. The rep said they'd look into it.

If you're curious. I know none of you CAGs would pre-order it so it's just academic, right?
Only the crazy people in the PS Blog comments would pre-order a game on PSN that has no release date attached to it.

some more thoughts on sorcery saga --

still having fun, though still early in.

it reminds me of the psmobile game adventure bar labryinth a bit, as in both you've got a food/restaurant theme and start every dungeon at level 1 (but keep equipment).   ZHP Unlosing Ranger does this too - while it sounds like a strange mechanic it actually works well since it (theoretically) allows them to better balance dungeons.

There's a simplistic but engaging 'hunger' mechanic that removes all of the pain of hunger mechanics while adding in fun.  Basically, you've got a companion pet that gets hungry every step -- you need to feed it unwanted items and as you do it'll level up and get new abilities (often powerful, one use per dungeon level powers).    So basically, it eats your trash, becomes a powerful ally, and forces you to keep moving all in one single game mechanic.   It's a pretty brilliant roguelike idea, actually.

Crafting is pretty fun and easy to grasp.  Joining like type weapons will add any benefits (ie, +2 plus +3 = +5) and combines any magical benefits as well, limited to the number of benefit slots your current weapon can hold.  Using a weapon for awhile can level it up as well, adding slots.

I'm still trying to sort a lot out -- I'm not always sure yet what is 'trash' and what is useful.   It hasn't gotten hard yet but I'm also still really early in the game.

Overall, I'm glad I bought it.  There's nothing I dislike about it so far, but I do hope it becomes a bit more challenging.

Frisky already suggested the 2 I was going to (Field Commander, Endwar).

The psp mini 'mecho wars' is also worth checking out. i think i played it on ios, but i have the mini too i think.

There are also a couple other games that might scratch that itch but I'm not sure --

--military history commander: europe at war

--history: legends of war: Patton

But you should read reviews / watch gameplay of those first before committing $. I'm waiting for both to go on sale, personally, but that might be a long wait.

You might really like Frozen Synapse when it comes out for vita later this year. It's not the same style as advance wars at all, but it is a different sort of modern, turnbased, tactical/military game.

You essentially have a squad of soldiers, and plan out their exact moves every turn -- their exact path, the angle they're aiming, etc... very fluid. You then can 'play' the turn and all units move at once... you can rewind if necessary. Anyway, it's all about tactics. Approaching defended territory, breaching doors, etc. The graphics are minimal but gameplay is where it's at. you can watch pc gameplay on youtube, though the graphics have gotten a big makeover for the vita.

It doesn't matter what I'm doing, if the guitar solo from "Comfortably Numb" comes on, I have to stop, turn the volume up (usually in time with the solo intro) and air jam the shit out of it.
I've been lucky enough to see Roger Waters 5 times. I saw him do The Wall & Dark Side of the Moon (2 times). I went to The Hollywood Bowl and when the played the full album of Dark Side of the Moon Roger brought out Nick Mason for drums. Just an amazing show. I'd still love to go see David Gilmore or a Floyd reunion but I figure that'll never happen.

Yeah, I'd knew you like it! I don't see how anyone can not like this game if they like roguelikes. All of the mechanics are sound and there are a few conveniences not found in other roguelikes. The game might be too cutesy sometimes, but that's about it. It might get repetetive sometimes but that comes with the territory with these types of games.

One thing that might not be intuitive and will help to know is that you can only learn spells in a dungeon. So once you find a magic book, make sure to read it before you leave the dungeon because you can't use it in town. The spells are permanent, so don't be afraid to use them - they'll carry over into future dungeons. And always have an escape route. I don't want to spoil anything but you might be in for some rude surprises ahead.

Jenne needs the PS3 to transfer it to the VITA though. Cant not just download it to the vita .

Valkyria Chronicles™ 2 i thought was a good game as well. again need the ps3 to transfer it though

Holy shit, that streak by Thermal Pile was excellent. That's exactly what I was referring to when I said quality posts. Not the shit SJD puts up.

"Going for record"
"Six more"
"So glad no one is on at 3AM"
"Haha I'm awesome!"
"Unfunny comment"
"OMG no one break this I need it so bad!"
"Record"

That was basically it, if I remember right. Thermal had more words in one sentence than all of SJD's posts combined.

At E3 this year, we had a brief look at End of Serenity, a turn-based JRPG by Kemco that will be localised in North America by Natsume. While potentially traditional to a fault, it might just be the excuse you need to pull out your PSP again. Well, at least until Brandish arrives.

End of Serenity will be available on June 24th digitally. Natsume hope to later bring the title to Vita, but have said it is currently "up to Sony" as to whether it happens.

makes goes its PSP ONLY but sony says vita  WTF

So basically no-trophy games, then. :booty:

And seriously, guys, only Thermopyle comes up with a serious, thoughtful answer to my question? :nottalking:

Nice. I've been able to see Waters once, but it was just a generic tour. It was still pretty awesome though. His Wall and Dark Side tours have come through my city a couple times each but are so fucking expensive. Though I do regret not finding a way to see the Wall since that's my fav album of theirs. And yes Gilmore does need to tour. I'd be there in a heartbeat.

CAG is actually a pretty shitty site when it comes to quoting. What I'd really like to see is the thread contents be in some form of frame or whatever so that you can change pages without having to lose your reply. It'd also be nice if it floated so you could hit quote and not be dropped to the bottom of the page and then have to go back up to find where the hell you were. Generally I'm the type of person that would go through 4-5 pages, quoting post after post, and have a massive multi-quote response if CAG was set up in the way I've described. Since it's not, it's easy to end up with several posts in a row if you're trying to catch up and are responding to posts as you do so.
But you can already do this, just hit multiqoute.

Arg, they changed the trophies from Batman:AA->AC, I am busting my hump through hard for no purpose as apparently the only trophy for difficulty is NG+ and there is no way to change it mid-game down to normal. I'm only like an hour in so I think I'll just start over as I would hate to get stuck 75% of the way in and have no way to make it easier.

If you're not playing AC on Hard the first time through, you're not really Batman. :shame:

Oh, wow. I just tried that. It does let you carry quotes among multiple pages. That's neat, thanks.
Careful with this; it's not very stable. I used to use the multiquote button until I got tired of it losing my quotes. Then I'd have to make the decision to go back through the last several pages to find them again or just say fuck it.

Now I just open the quote up in a new tab and if I multi it's by copy/paste. And I always copy my post before hitting the post button because that fucks up every now and then too. You've seen some of my posts; I am not typing that shit up again.

For all the improvements, 3.0 sure is a step back.
