I started playing this yesterday on my vita... and it's actually... way better than I'd heard. It's got ratchet and clank style levels, but it's more of a RTS sort of game. You have a 'fort' at the beginning of the level, and need to build fort defenses while taking out the enemy base at the far end of the level, etc. Other than being attacked, it feels much like other R&C games. I'm only on the first level, but I'm having a blast.

The big secret to D*Souls is that they're nowhere near as hard as people make them out to be. Heck, Im playing SMT Nocturne right now, and if you're 2 hours into a dungeon and die, you lose -everything-. Reload your last save, start over. D*Souls is nowhere near that unforgiving. Not even close.
Demon Souls is my game of the gen for last gen. You do need to learn how to play it though, it is pretty easy if you learn to play it, but it will kill you for impatience/carelessness.
Ugh.

I don't know how to put this other than it's clear you didn't spend much time with the game. I don't even know how to say anything other than you're wrong -- if you're constantly playing the same level over and over again, you're doing it wrong. If it's 'slow and plodding', you're doing it wrong. If you got overly worried about world tendency (only in Demon's), you're doing it wrong. Heck, you can run through D*Souls if you want avoiding almost all combat if you so desire.

It sounds like the game is just not for you, which is fine, but the criticisms you're leveling at the game are symptomatic of someone who just didn't 'get it'.

For example, I dislike fighting games and am terrible at them. But I don't go around calling them 'button mashers' (because that's how i end up playing) since I know others are experts and it's anything but button mashing for them. You're really doing D*Souls a disservice along those lines - your criticisms are no more true than me calling a revered fighting game a 'button masher'.
Double ugh.

Yes, I didnt get it. Yes, it isnt for me. Yes, the game is slow and plodding. My opinion.

I didn't see it and was just trying to help out. I still actually dont see it as under PlayStation Plus it just list these games as 33% Off and not what they are currently since I posted. Unless I missed something, sorry for trying to help.
I'm not trying to attack you or anything, but you kind of make it hard to write it any other way since you're saying that it's not there. I'll just post exactly how it's written in the OP:

Did you buy Full Frontal PS3? If so, that is why. You also should get Ratchet Deadlocked for free if you did.
I guess you didnt bother reading the answer right below yours? Since you already have the game on your card, I assume the answer is yes to my initial question.

If you download the Vita version, it should also start a download for Ratchet Deadlocked.

I understand, what I don't understand is that Sony's Website states that they are a higher percentage off but it seems that they are not really. Unless they are factoring in the fact of retail price ? When they shouldn't be? Sorry again, my mistake i should have investigated further into the matter. I will next time, again sorry.

Frisky actually done a little bit of extra work there as well, since they really aren't 75% off like Sony claims they are. He had to come up with those figures by using math and such. Good job Frisky.

That's why I don't go by what the PS Blog or the PS website says, just what it says on PSN.

Damn you are right, my pile of shame is bad.

Reason I couldn't get into Demon Souls was it's too RPG'y for my liking. Too many stats and customizations and classes and stuff.
This is more for backlog than you- ignore classes. They only barely affect starting stats, and nothing else. Any class can be anything. If you want a warrior, focus on endurance so you can swing more often and block more without tiring. If you want a mage, focus on related stats. Magic will make the game much easier, though I prefer melee only.

Dark Souls is fun... but it is at the point that I may not play it again. If I work for an hour on a level, and then die at the end, I will never pick it up again. I just don't have enough time to redo the same level over and over. So far I have been ok - the world unlocks a "fast" path to the boss if you do it right... but I think this current level does not... uh oh...
Which level? Also, if you've already played a level a few times... you can actually run through almost every single level in every game w/o any combat other than bosses. It's not recommended to do this at first (you'll miss important stuff, fall off edges, or get trapped somehow), but if you're just trying to collect your souls or get back to where you were last time, it's pretty easy to do for any area you've already explored once.

Ugh.

Double ugh.

But the point is the game isn't slow and plodding. At all. It's an action game. I don't know how you're playing it, but you're doing something mighty wrong. Combat is fast, movement is fast, bosses are big and fierce... there aren't big sections you need to run through (except one world in Dark Souls) without fighting.... melee combat is tense and brutal. it does require more patience than, say, God of War, but patience is difference than 'plodding'.

Again, it's like if I called some Street Fighter game a button masher. It's my opinion, sure, but it would still be wrong. I know that I'm wrong and that my criticism is directly related to my lack of understanding of the game, so I don't go around deriding the franchise (or genre) because I know I don't know a thing about the genre.

Thanks for the tips.

I don't think Wrencrest is meaning to "deride" the franchise though; at least that's not what I took from it. Pretty much just saying it didn't click with him.

Yeah was thinking it might make sense to sell it off and pick up Anniversary when it goes cheap since I have 2 waiting as well. Actually I have 3 too...forgot I got it free with GWG.
So you haven't played the original Fable at all? It's really good even if the combat is a tad simplistic. It's also kinda easy to get overpowered. But I still throughly enjoyed it when I played it for the first time in Fable Anniversary. It's not the smoothest game in the world though, could have used a few more months in the oven.

Fable 2 was alright but blah enough that I never bothered with Fable 3.

Four Souls platinums and I say the combat is slow and plodding. Definitely not a fast paced game. Maybe if you take all your armor off and run around everywhere you might get a sense of speed.

And affa, you've already said I know more about the games than most people since I've played them so much. So I guess my opinion can't be invalidated as being someone who just hasn't played enough.

Nope it was doomed to the good old backlog. I've waited this long, guess I can wait for the right price on the remake.

Wolf among us as well, although I've been playing their stuff on Vita. Hopefully they'll all come over eventually. I think they said Wolf would at some point.
Is it pointless to hope the PS4/XB1 versions don't have the glitches that tend to reside on TT's physical releases?

Also, I'm reading that GAF thread on Project Beast, and there are so many people in there talking about how beautiful the Souls games look. I guess none of them have ever played a game that actually looks good.

Great, another chance for Sony to rain piss on those of us who bought TWD S2 and TWAU during the sale earlier this year.

I'd hope for a cross-buy, but based on past experiences, would not expect it at all.

Only FAQ I've ever done is a story and lore guide for Demon's Souls and that took SOOOOO long I couldn't bear doing another one for Dark Souls 1 or 2.

The reason everyone is telling you are wrong is because there are dozens upon dozens of players who have the exact same experience as you, give up early, and then they went back later and liked it because they stopped sucking at it. It's fine if someone gives it a fair shot and says it's not their cup of tea, but too often is it is the fox saying "I didn't want those nasty grapes anyway."

You might also give Dark Souls 2 a shot as it has an enemy despawning mechanic, after you kill an enemy 12 times it will stop respawning. The Bonfire checkpoints are also quite close together.

Here's just 1 example

I'd think not. They actually play much better on the Vita than PS3. Very minimal lagging and stuttering, trophies pop immediately. I never could understand why they wouldn't put a little more effort into what has to be a huge cash cow for them. And even flawed as they were on PS3, they were too good to pass over.

I always assumed the games were so dark to hide the bad textures.
I hope you're being serious, because I've had that same thought. Then the areas that have a day time setting either have something stupid like wind kicking up sand all around you so you're distracted, or they're just plain castles/houses with nothing impressive about them.

@eld, that sucks on the GoW, I'll have to remember that myself.

I have to finish Second Son (going to try for the plat) by tomorrow, or Monday morning at the latest, to get it mailed to BBY in time for my trade to be valid so it can have been a free rental so put GoW aside for the moment but going to fiddle with it a bit more before I restart. At least it's super fast when you can run past everything and spam magic at the rest, still annoying though. Going to keep two alternating saves if I have to restart.

Haha that's cute. Thinking a Telltale game is actually going to perform well.

I usually don't care for him because he fascinates on all the bad aspects of games, but that review is pretty spot on. I've said it about other games as well, but I consider it a huge drawback to a game when you have to, as he says, have the Cliff's Notes right by your side while you play it (Spelunky is another game that looses points in my book for this). Gamespot did a "Second Take" review of the Dark Souls 2 and also decried it for not being approachable.

He's basically right though. Now that the evergreens are being phased out may as well throw my ps3 in the dumpster. At least the vita is still alive and kicking.
Vita has no games though. I went into the Gamestop closest to me last night and asked where the Vita games were and I was told they keep them all in drawers or in the back. They literally didn't have a Vita display.

Why would they make a display for both of them? That'd be ridiculous. At my closest Gamestop they just put the two games in a bin out on the sidewalk with a 'Free' sign on them because who would want them?

The studio that made Amy should reassemble to port Amy to PS4/Vita with crossbuy. That or make a sequel.

That's not the norm. It's not a big display, but it should be one side of a free-standing rack.

Who would have thought the Vita would have outlived the PS3. ;)

You're back below 20% completion. Way to suck.
Only I could be one trophy away from platting a game and go down in stats. That's the kind of skill it takes to be me.

Oh, please. Spelunky does not require cliff notes. You can certainly read up on it and learn things that way, or get tips from other people, but you don't have to. I played for quite a while never looking anything up, then I read part of a wiki until I got to one thing I had no idea about and then I stopped reading. Then when I got to Olmec I decided to cheat and read up on it. But I wouldn't have had to. Everything you need to know is right there if you look for it.

I played the last two episodes of The Wolf Among Us and there were maybe a couple of small audio bugs and that was about it. It was surprising to see episodes of a Telltale game with no annoying issues.

Dark Souls 2 was the first game of the three to specifically aim for being newbie friendly, which is why that review is so critical of it still not explaining much more than previous games.

I imagine he means more the items in Spelunky as they don't really tell you what they do until you buy them, and even then they don't always tell you in the little book what they do or how they function.
