Personally, i'm really hoping this remote coming out makes Harmony remotes work better with PS4 (via some firmware update). Technically, Harmony remotes can work on a very limited functionality, but it's not worth trying in my opinion. One of the dumbest things is that you can't even turn on the PS4.
You didn't fix it at all. My samsung remote does pretty much everything i need it to. IIrc the only thing i can't do is exit netflix or something stupid like that.

It's certainly 'good enough' for my needs, and I actually have my remote at all times, whereas i could never find the ps3 remote i bought.

If you signed up for the Battleborn Technical Test previously, they're sending out emails for it now with a heavy NDA outlawing pretty much everything you could do to talk about it or share video/screenshots.

Got to play a few rounds of Star Wars and I have to say it is pretty good. It is a battlefield reskin, but hides it really well with Star Wars. Vehicles seem really over powered though.

Can you play Battlefront without PS+ since it's a beta? Membership expired last month and don't care for the games this month so was going to wait for a hopeful Black Friday deal but if the beta requires it, might have to go ahead and grab a PS+ card.

Yes, you can.

Hey guys I just got a ps4... Haven't owned a Sony console in over a decade...

I've got PlayStation now (compliments me well since I missed all of the PS3 titles. Real happy I didn't get TLoU Remastered lol)
Destiny the taken King (came with the bundle)
And the two free games offered from ps+

Can you guys recommend anything to me? I'm going to get MKX but I'm just waiting on a good price for it... Any essentials on the market place or games I should just outright buy digitally? I'm open to all opinions. Will the PSTV play Vita and PSP games? I'm interested in one...

Likewise, anyone here deal in PSN credit?

Binding of Issac is a fantastic game and really gets you sucked in with the "just one more try" mentality. When starting out will take you some time to feel like you are progressing but gets more and more fun with the more items you unlock and the great combos you can get with said items. Unlocking other characters can make it easier as well.

Its a great mix of classic zelda dungeon style and rogue like games.

One of the best indie games out there.
I tried getting into this game a few times but the total lack of direction or instructions bugged me. Trying to figure out what the dozens and dozens of power ups and items do is lame and turned me off. Couple that with the fact that it doesn't even tell you how to use them at first and i just never really played it long enough to get into it. Its too bad because the gameplay was kinda fun and the story was weird/interesting.

It's a more player-friendly version of Earthbound and it's a good game.
+1 Been playing this recently and im enjoying it quite a bit

Well my first recommendation is to make sure you're claiming all the free titles each month from the web store. There's often ones with cross buy so you get more than two on each platform and you never know down the road if you'll get other systems or something will catch your interest. Lots of people don't do that and wind up regretting not grabbing something at some point.

I only have one month to go on but the first thing I did was accept all the free stuff I had offered.

2 weeks of plus for free from the dash then then the 30 day free trial from destiny
The taken King expansion code
The games on ps+ even though I can only play the ps4 games
The free week of PlayStation now plus the free 2 weeks I'm getting out of the controller bundle I bought from Best Buy. It should be delivered tomorrow.

Also I'm not new to gaming at all... I've just been a shameful Microsoft fanboy since the 360 dropped. The no split screen in halo 5 kinda was the last straw to me.

Sure, I've had a PS4 since launch. You've got a lot of catching up to do.

First -- pstv plays most vita games, a ton of psp/ps1 games. Some games don't work due to control and/or licensing issues. It gets a lot of hate, but honestly, I dig mine and think it's a good addition.. remote play is nice too. I do prefer my vita overall though.

For ps4

You should grab the Uncharted Collection at some point; the games are just pure Indiana Jones style fun. It's a good venture into Sony territory.

Bloodborne. Bloodborne! fantastic game.

Resogun is a fantastic arcade shooter worth picking up... and if you like that, might as well pick up Super Stardust too.

i'll add some more recommendations later....

I'm into fighters and anything that has a big online community. I'm loving destiny and I'll be picking up SWBF and FO4 so I dunno if I need another shooter or not.

Will the PSTV play Tactics Ogre? Lol I'm a huge RPG nut... Really the only kind of games I'm not into are racing titles.

Yes, TO will play on pstv.

probably others i'm not thinking of. basically, the standards.

I'm glad that you are happy with your experience. I just think it's ridiculous that a remote option does not exist (at least until the near future) that can handle all normal functions in a reliable way. If you need to get your dualshock controller out to exit Netflix, that doesn't seem reasonable to me (within the context of this issue). The PS3 works quite well with Harmony remotes, so there is no reason that a newer console from the same manufacturer shouldn't do the same or better.

GTAV seems pretty popular.

That would be nice, but unless I'm mistaken, Sony usually waits until the 3rd or 4th weekend of the month before doing their usual flash sale.
Yeah, that seems to be the established pattern. And with October possibly a two week sale at the end of the month for horror and related games.

...

To the dude that just got a PS4. I know it was mentioned but claim all the free games from PS+. You will need it anyway to play online so don't wait for it to lapse, just buy PS+ and add it to your account. TO claim the non PS4 games just use a webbrowser on a computer and visit http://store.playstation.com and "buy" them that way. By "buy" I mean add the free games to the cart and then check out for a cost of $0. That's how you lock in the licenses on all this stuff. Even if you never buy a Vita, PSTV or go back for a cheap PS3 for all the great games every month... some games on the other systems do get crossbuy upgraded so if you own the game on Vita and it comes to PS4 and is crossbuy then you can get the PS4 version for free. IT doesn't happen all the time but it has happened quite a few times already.

...

Frisky and others, thanks for the feedback on Citizens of Earth.

Though you would think if there's a two week sale of the dead that they may do it the weekend before that.
Looking at last years two week sale deal, it started on the 14th and lasted through the 27th (though technically the am hours on 28th I think). So I think if they do one again this year it should start this tuesday (13th) and run through the 26th. So whatever the last two game weeks (Tue->Mon) that fit within the month. The flash sale last year fell on friday the 17th through the 20th. So I'd expect if we follow pattern it'll be next friday on the 16th. And to think there was a buy $100 get $15 promo going on that month like there is this year.

It's funny though that that one dude thought the buy $100 deal was something tied to rock band. I mean, Sony isn't 100% predictable like a clock but they definitely follow some patters year to year with the sales which make predictions often right on the money. If anything the Rock Band folks probably took advantage of this predictability by launching when they did.

Right, but we have no idea who has control over in-app oddities like that. It might be Netflix's fault, not Sonys.

But i know I can use the menus, buy from the store, watch dvds/blurays, and control most apps with it. I'm just not seeing the major issue... is it perfect? No, but I rarely, if ever, run into actual issues.

The point is, it's there. And it's quite useful in most circumstances. Certainly means I never need to buy a remote. The fact that I use it all the time and couldn't even tell you what it can't do (even though i do remember there was one or two things) says it's good enough 99% of the time, and my ds4 is nearby anyway for that 1%.

Would have been nice of Sony to celebrate the PS4 price drop with a Flash sale, but no....

I suppose we'll probably get a horror themed sale closer to Halloween.

If you have a Smart tv there's a fair to good chance your remote already works with your ps4
My non-smart TV supports HDMI-CEC, but the remote is terrible and I found a Bluetooth remote like PS3's remote to be a much, much better means of navigating the UI without the need for a controller.

Gotta give those people time to set it up and realize there's a store so they can spend money on it!

My fav PS3 exclusives that I believe are available through Now are Catherine, Ni no Kuni and MGSIV.

The online community on PS4 is quite strong. Helldivers is a fantastic online game as is Rocket League.

Sound Shapes and both Hotline Miami games have superb soundtracks and are incredibly fun.

Bloodborne is so far my personal GotY and yes, I've played MGSV.

The other suggestions you've gotten on here are all valid as well.

Enjoy!

PS+ members can help From stress test the servers for Dark Souls III. It's only 3 GB.

I don't know when servers are going to go live for this stuff, but you can at least prepare for further news.
Seems to have been taken down. They're announcing who they picked for the stress test this Tuesday with the testing being next weekend. My guess is somebody goofed and put the download up early.

We thinking next weekend is when Sony announces their annual Halloween sale? Been wanting something spooky to play but I'm waiting to see if Evil Within goes on sale for under $20.

Nice, I got little big planet. I Always prefer digiral copies of local multiplayer games so they're easier to switch between at parties.

I keep waiting for the PS4 copy to go under $10. It's been $20 multiple times at various places over the last year.

These will be good purchases for the "spend $100, get $15 back" promotion. So far, I've only bought Bomberman Ultra and SkyDrift with its DLC on PS3 at full price. I will definitely preorder Yakuza 5 on PS3 and then I'll have to see what else strikes my fancy for the other $40 and such. Might pick up LittleBigPlanet 3 on PS4.

I totally agree with this. It takes just a minute or so to do it on the store. Even then if your too lazy its like 1 button press on the PS4 (though you wont get the ps3/vita stuf usually) I have a friend with a PS4 and + and he never bothers claiming the free games. Cant be bugged to hit that 'add to library' button i guess. I dont get it

Yea when i heard that i couldn't friggin believe it. Halo is like THE quintessential couch co-op split screen/system link game. For me it was the bullshit they tried to pull before the Xbone even launched. THe always on DRM bullshit, no used or borrowed games, ect. fuck them. That rubbed me so wrong i still dont own an Xbone and dont know i i ever will. Its funny because while not a 360 fanboy, i did prefer the 360 over the ps3 by a wide margin when i was buying games last gen. Probably something like 70% 30% or something. This gen its 100% Sony. Screw MS

You mean on the PS3? As far as I know Yakuza 5 is releasing on the PS3. If you want a PS4 Yakuza you'll have to import that colonial era one.

Sorry, I meant PS3. I hate typing on mobile. And you must mean that it's a Japanese colonial era Yakuza. Although I would love to see a Yakuza game starring George Washington set in America during 1776 just for the hostess bars. LOL!

Is this sale known?: Order, Knack, Killzone Infamous all all sale for $20 each

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/the-order-1886/cid=UP9000-CUSA00785_00-TO1886GAME000000

plus the spend $100 get $15 deal
I'm still trying to figure out if this is a mistake because it seems like a pretty large, random and unheralded drop on on some of these. Granted it doesn't do a lot for me since I already beat The Order, Knack and Second Son and have LBP3 on disc.
