Well, that worked out nicely. One should still consider waiting until the weekend so you can apply the code to the weekly and flash sales. The code can only be used once on each account.

I think i picked this up on steam during a sale, but hot damn do I want to double dip at that price.

In theory, digital should be cheaper. No manufacturing, no materials, less art design, no distribution costs, fewer middlemen.

In practice, if digital continuously undercut physical all the time [especially new], it would seriously piss off the big box retailers that make a lot of space for, and sell, consoles.

I guess I want a happy medium so it isn't a huge gap betweent the two. Like previously mentioned, Diablo is $34.79 on PSN where you can get it for $20 or lower at most retailers this week. Why not offer it at the same price or at like $25? That way if you are a digital person, you have that option to get it a rather fair price but you aren't undercutting the big box retailers and their holiday sales.

I know Sony doesn't control this but if I was Activision/Blizzard, wouldn't I want to guarantee I appease both sides instead of just one side?

You assume that Activision gives a fuck when they have yet to really do that with their retail stuff on any digital service. They even pull that on Steam where the old Call of Duty games are only $10 each despite any other sane publisher would make them much cheaper with a bundle for a big amount to get all of the lazy, stupid with money to bite on it.

When the PS4 launched, Battlefield 4 was one of those early games where they made both the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game on PSN Cross Buy to give PS3 people a reason to upgrade later on with a free PS4 version.

My guess is that Diablo still sells well enough at $35 that they just don't care.

Also, physical prices need to compete (to some degree) with used physical prices -- that is, if a game is easily bought for $5 used, it can't sustain a $60 price tag (but might be fine at, say, $20 new). Digital has some competition with physical, sure, but if someone wants it digital the only real competition is future potential sales.

 
Not terribly impressed except I'm thinking of buying "Kane and Lynch 2:  Dog Days" and a few other of the games that are dirt cheap.  Btw, is Ultra Street Fighter 4 for PS4 new and online only?  I have never seen that listed.

 
Is there going to be a black Friday flash sale, or will this be the first month in a long time that we don't get one?  Think I'll save my code just in case, or is the code multi use?

Nope. The PS3 disc has to be in the console for it to work.

You're mixing up the prices a bit. May Payne 3 for $6 is the normal PSN price and it's $5 for PS+. The big CE bundle is $6.60 for PSN and $5.10 for PS+.

If you don't have any part of those two games and want them, the bundle seems like the easy purchase there.

Physical costs money to produce. Every copy not sold is a complete loss. So there is some level of urgency to selling off the physical copies. As demand drops, used prices drop, as they drop the new physical copies have to drop in price some to keep from being ignored. It is a cycle... because the publisher needs as many copies that were produced to be sold before demand disappears. On top of that you have people to complicate things. Some are happy to buy at launch... others wait for the first sale... then others that wait for a certain price point like $20 and then the bottom feeders (which I am sometime) that will only buy a game when it's just dirt cheap. Every one of those levels is a market which most game publishers try to hit if they can't sell all the games produced. Certainly they want more people buying the games at as high a price as possible but then once that demand is gone it's time to move the price, even if the used game price hasn't dropped.

The digital market has no such overhead to worry about. IF a game is selling, then it's selling. If it gets too low then most publishers will do a sale to drum up interest. But the digital market and the physical are two different things. The main thing is to just take advantage of whichever one has the better deal. I know some folks are physical or digital only... but at the end of the day both tend to lose out on the best deals where as those that play the middle get the best deals at the time.

There's been one the last two years on Black Friday... not sure why this year would be any different. Just keep in mind the BF flash sale last year was terrible.

Can anyone tell me if it's worth getting Rocket League at this price + using the extra 10% code? I just got a PS4 and missed the free offering of Rocket League way back in July. If anyone can give some insight that'd be great. :)

It's easily one of the best games of the year. It plays really well and still has a lot of people playing it with consistent big updates and DLC to add some cool stuff to the mix.

 
Was hoping Diablo 3 would be cheaper, It'll probably be $20 this weekend on Amazon.

Hoping we get Tales from borderlands on sale this weekend, it's gone on sale multiple times for X1 but never for PS4. it's $10 on X1 right now.

 
Going to end up getting Rocket League now that I have PS+ again due to Battlefront. Just going to see what else gets added from the guaranteed flash sale this weekend.

 
Diablo 3 being $34.79 is a fail. i was hoping for $20 or lower. i feel like its been lower on PSN before. Really didnt want to repurchase a physical copy but I may do that

Dumb question but do digital games heat up the ps4? Might buy Borderlands digitally instead of physically at BB.
The ps3 version of Borderlands (digital) hardly heats up the console, but the disc does after hours of playing.
Going to do a lot of couch Co op, probably for hours so is there a difference on ps4 or is it the same as the ps3?

Playing any game is going to heat up the PS4, because the processor has to do work to render it. A digital game may produce less heat than physical because the console won't have to use any power to spin the optical drive, but I'd be very surprised if the difference was significant.

 
Was really hoping Sniper Elite 3 would be on sale since my brother wants it for co-op.

We could play through Army of Two again. Nice pickup at $2.

Considering you have to install games on the PS4... I would say it's the same digital or physical. Where as on PS3 with the disc you are actually playing it off the disc.
