I'd really like to get Rogue Galaxy, but I'll hold off on an eventual sale. Great game but no need to play it right this moment. How do the PS2 games look upresed in 1080p?

I think you're confusing a remaster with a port.
Remasters are a port, just optimized for the new platform it is on... usually.

Other than that, it is the exact same game in every respect.. for the most part (some fix problems the original release had)

Your friend is a bad person and you should spend your free times devising Rube Goldberg machines who sole purpose are to remind him of that.
Your friend disgusts me. How anyone can look at so many 2D games that look gorgeous, even if many are SD and call them a limitation is telling of his stupidity.

Let me guess, he also doesn't like hand drawn animation as well? I love "The Wind Rises" but "Princess Kaguya" as well made my jaw drop so hard as well. Different art style but still amazing. I saw "Princess and the Frog" in theaters and bought it, loved it as it felt like the first American Disney fairy tale(even has a quick shot of a newspaper referencing Woodrow Wilson getting into office).

Jeez the newer generation(I'm on the tail end of the Millennial Generation and consider myself more a Generation X'er) and some of the older ones have no patience for the process and quality, it's produce, produce, produce and it shows in the product styling. Using digital instead of film even though you can get much higher quality color shooting on 35 mm. if you can afford it(until I hear RED has reached color bit parity with film I don't want to hear a RED Camera is good enough). Yes it takes longer to work with but the end product is better and it's cheaper to store. The head of HBO Films mentioned this when asked why they still shoot on 16 mm. The same goes for hand drawn vs. CGI, I'm sure it's cheaper and quicker.

I see this same crap with some popular music artists where the shit is phoned in, call it autotuned to death or whatever you wish.

Sometimes quality takes time and you need to breathe the fuck out and let those muscles relax despite what society tells you.

I wish you could make your friend watch some "Galaxy Express 999" the series and maybe he'd get the idea that rushing blindly forward sometimes isn't the best idea.

Japan is one of the few companies I cut a bit of slack for with CGI animation because they're trying for full realism and to literally compete with Hollywood. Japan doesn't have the luxury of affordable real estate to make into a giant studio lot and shoot there as well as on location with a big budget.
I just realized I've not spoken to the guy in years, he was the significant other of another friend of mine.

Literally, I've not seen or said so much a word to him since 2013... so I guess I really shouldn't say friend.

Not sure what he feels about traditional animation. However he would go into tirades about how all games should be fully realized 3D worlds, and that 2D is an outdated limitation. He felt 2.5D games were even worse, since they were half assed games....

The guy was in his late 20s, early 30s, so make of that what you will.

(I'm 35 for reference)

They run amazing, with much of the slow down and other problems removed.

I still need to beat Rogue Galaxy.. I stil have it on PS2.. couldn't beat the final boss because of the BS where you had to split up your party and use every character individually to beat the boss.

That sucks. I can almost give a pass for some action and sports games and crud like that not having manuals, but it really friggin irks me when RPG's cant even be bothered. Fumbling with stats and mechinisms without any info is not fun in any frigin way shape or form IMO. I was going to say post in the vita forum since i think all vita games have a manual on he cart, but looks like frisky posted a link.. that still wasn't very helpful =P
I would probably be less irritated if I hadn't gone through this with Transformers Devastation and Tales of the Abyss before that. And all three games could have just given something that indicated what their stats or abbreviations or weird symbols or whatever meant. Then you get like 80% of the way through the game and something just happens to incidentally become clear and you wish you had known it the previous XX hours.

uuuggghhh.

Yea I've played through Devestation multiple times, my Prime is maxed out and I still don't know what the stats really do.

All I did was pay attention to which state raised which actual ability.

I tracked down the manual on the Activision website and it's still dumb. The abbreviations and names are all counter to what you would expect the stats to do and multiple stats affect the same thing.

I'm curious what week 1 of the sale will be. I'm expecting the worst sale ever that has every eye in this thread to roll... but if there are good deals then cool. I ended up skipping the Disney sale all together. Usually I'm interested in the PS1 & PSP classics but I just couldn't muster up enough interest to justify spending anything. I did at least get Bastiion as that's a good deal with crossbuy and all.

Bastion being on sale for so cheap is tempting but it makes me think it will be a ps plus game next month.
Seems like something that could happen, but if I thought this way about every cheap game I actually wanted to play then I'd probably never buy anything for fear it would be on PS+.

I don't know about Transformers, but Tales had in-game tutorials to explain the important features as you ran into them, and for the more detailed stuff there was a library in...Daath, I think, that had books that laid out what some of the terms and stats meant.

Question for you Psn guys...

Drive club season pass...does that include all content? I see on the store separate cars for 2-3 dollars...Will those be in there aS well

The tutorials told a reasonable amount but there was a lot of stuff still with actually playing the game that was never explained and not in the 3DS manual. It wasn't necessarily big picture stuff but square peg round hole level stuff. I don't even remember what it was that about 80-90% through the game I found out just by coincidence that made me literally close the system and walk away from it for like two days because it would have made life so much easier to know 30 hours hours.

And I read like three or four of the books before I got bored because it was all meh world building stuff. I'll go play Trails if I want to read books in a game!

You get everything except for the Driveclub Bikes expansion. The individual cars that you see on PSN are free cars that were added to the game but require you to achieve a specific driver level to unlock. You can bypass that requirement by purchasing the car on PSN.

FYI they recently added a KTM bike that's free to all (even if you don't own the Bikes expansion) although you need to reach a specific KTM accolade level to unlock it.

I have so many games, but why is it so hard to pick up and start a new game.. especially an RPG as of late.

I love gaming and have lots of time on my hands, but when it comes to starting a game it feels like it takes so much effort and motivation.

I know exactly what you mean. I have dozens of top flight games sitting here waiting to be played and instead I keep playing mostly mediocre ones instead. Too many choices is what it is.

This is what happens when you have a backlog and is what made me sell mine off years ago. Now i just buy what the kids will play and if I want to try something i will go get it and play it.

Probably, I've said it before but I probably have a couple thousand games.. maybe even more when you include all the digital.

I notice I do play new, none series game faster than like game 4 in a series of 6.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/12/08/free-online-multiplayer-for-all-ps4-players-this-weekend/

PS+ multiplayer is free this weekend from 12/11 @ 12:01 AM PT to 12/13 @ 11:59 PM PT.
Which reminds me that I need to reup my PS+. Keep putting it off still hoping for a promo which they clearly have no intention of ever doing again.

Well this is going to be a sale of regret for me from the looks of it...

Already have and paid more for Noire, Rebirth2, and ToHR. Just got Operation Abyss physical from BBY too. Would like Dungeon Travelers and P4DAN but it's just too much still.

Tales From the Borderlands season pass is $3.75. I found out when I went to download the episodes I bought last week when it was $7.50 during the TGA Sale. Not cool Sony.

 at Operation Abyss, I was upset I missed at BB when it was on clearance but I can get it for $8 after 20% code now

Yep, not buying another one for more than $6. Now they need to make more since I've apparently bought them all for more than $6 already...
They already have the zombie game coming and at least one other spinoff announced. I don't think you're going to have to worry about that.

Bought for $3.75, glad I missed out on the PSE sale.

Edit: Bought Game of Thrones pass for $5 too!

How is Operation Abyss as far as dungeon crawlers go?
I didn't get far cause the beginning didn't engage me. I plan on going back.

But it's basically Demon Gaze with a more dull story, but better mechanics. Demon Gaze is one of the better DRPGs, so it's not really a bad thing.
