Would be curious to hear your thoughts on the actual game, which I still have unopened from a preorder.
I haven't started playing yet, but I plan on starting it tonight. The reason why I didn't return it was simply because of how much I loved the MM games, so as long as this is mostly similar I'm sure I'll like it. Seems like a lot of the negative responses to the game are primarily "it didn't do anything new from mega man" and "this is what 4 million dollars made". Both are valid criticisms but I don't think either will make me too upset.

Yeah. And the Destructoid review made some points about the actual gameplay being good. More that the level design and graphical assets left much to be desired.

This interview, however, if translated correctly, kind of ticks me off though:

http://www.pcgamer.com/mighty-no-9-creator-says-its-better-than-nothing/

I locked in a $15 trade in with Amazon and technically only paid $10 for it after various promotions. So I will probably at least play it a bit tonight to see how it is. And decide whether to keep or trade it in.

Agreed, Presequel felt like another game wearing a Borderland's mask.

It was made by a separate fan team, and adopted into the series by the creators/etc... but the balancing and pacing felt really off.
ok, guess I'll skip presequel since i don't really need it.

I don't think BL Presequel was as good as 2, but definitely far from "garbage".

Grand Kingdom on the other hand...

Liked the demo, but the full game is a mess (to me).
what's different? i thought the demo was great for GK.

any thoughts on jack the ripper dlc?
It depends if you like AC gameplay. If you don't, you'll find it boring as people who don't like that style of gameplay say. I liked it, I'm a big AC fan.
I thought it was great when you could play as Jack the Ripper, even if it was for just a little while. You do some 'detective' work and missions. You can also work on a fear system and use the same weapons as Jack. Terrorize the city as Jack. If you like Syndicate or have played any AC game and don't find it boring, then I think the DLC was a pretty good addition as DLC.

That's the thing. From what I've seen nobody has really complained about game play. Which is pretty much what I care about. Stylistically it's definitely not what I'd have hoped but if it feels MM I'll get over it. Anyway here's my full thoughts on the SE if you cared.

So I'm insane and bought Lightning Returns with the intention of breaking the game with DLC. Looking online, I see most people suggesting either FFX Yuna or FF7 Cloud. If I only got one, which one would break the game more?

So Stick of Truth is a port or remaster?
Its a port. However, I originally played this on PC, and it looked and ran like butter. The PS4 version is damn close to running just as well. This game didnt really need an HD Remaster as the textures are as plain as plain can be. The resolution just needed to be brought up and the frame rates needed to be higher, and they delivered on that in spades.

I got the game the day it came out..... and I've not been more than a couple days into it.

It's just hard to get into and feels quite different. I really hate the quest and leveling system... but I want to finish it for the story

You must have extremely low standards. Battleborn looked and played like a half completed mess build by amateurs. Its right up there with Alien: Colonial Marines in terms of being embarrassingly bad. Expect it to be < 10$ soon.
Not sure what his standards have to do with facts about gameplay mechanics. You claim it was severely lacking basic mechanics... but the fact is its much deeper than just shooty-shooty pew-pew, or "stand in this circle till its blue". Just look at all the reviews. If anything, that might be part of the problem; its learning curve is a little steep, as it chases away the people who kill everything in sight then complain that they're losing.

Bioshock Infinite: Ultimate Edition includes the Burial at Sea DLC correct?

I bought the base game for the PS3 ages ago during black Friday or something, and I never even opened it. I always planned to get the season pass on sale or something, but always missed out. Now, for this price, I'll just sale my physical game and get this for the DLC.

Normally I would never sale a physical item for anything digital, but I was never a HUGE fan of the game, but I did want to play the Burial at Sea, so this seems the cheapest way to go.

Yes, and the minor upgrades to the main campaign (more weapons/upgrades you start with)

Thank goodness for DLC. Needed another $5 to spend and picked up some Rock Band 4 songs (Cherry Pie, Dope Nose, Love Stinks).

Next time this promotion returns, I buy some Rock Band track packs - probably from Van Halen and Disturbed.

Thanks for the replies. I have a House of the Dead game for Wii which was pretty fun with the wiimote, but I think I'll give one of these a try with a DS3 for the price.
HotD Overkill on the Wii was a classic, but these HotD games are arcade based, so not as good, but a decent shooter romp.

I actually agree with your post.

I've maxed out my level in Battleborn and a mastered a handful of characters (Max level, Full lore.... I hate the lore which requires specific character combos) and I agree with your assumption.

The game is very much a team game, and about both composition and helping your partners, especially on the Hard difficulty. Even on normal difficulty, running ahead or ignoring the objectives is instant death since mobs spawn based on your progression. So if you run half a map ahead of an escort, then you'll trigger all the map events, before the escort can get there AND ignoring the mobs spawned by the escort itself as it progressed, causing it to die instantly.

Not to mention each character can play widely different and has strengths and weaknesses. To me, the campaign reminds me of Gauntlet Legends and other such arcade games and I love it, I loved it enough to max out my characters in the first two weeks of release.

Sadly, even though the game was announced before over watch, and released before Overwatch, everyone thinks it's a poor man's clone.

As for the Multiplayer aspect, it's semi slow to start but quite well done. Once again it's about the objectives, and how you handle them. Running off to get a kill count will only hurt the team if their minions are able to score or do damage while you're after that K/D ratio.

House of The Dead 2 is still Wii and Dreamcast only

HoTD3, 4 and Overkill Extended Cut are on the PS3.

3 and 4 play amazing, and you get the short 2nd quest for 4 as well... which requires you to learn how to bake grenades to get the real ending.

Overkill Extended Cut is... a mixed bag.

Graphically it looks and plays better, but there is some minor censorship (certain scenes in the Wii version, like the mutants throwing people into meat grinders and eating their remains) were removed, and quick time events were added. However there are more areas to play through and a really, really grotesque boss.

I got the game the day it came out..... and I've not been more than a couple days into it.

It's just hard to get into and feels quite different. I really hate the quest and leveling system... but I want to finish it for the story
.........

Thank you for this abolutely necessary and completely useful reply. It properly addressed my post and certainly didn't ignore it in favor of something that's irrelevant to both me and my question.

Oh god, I didn't even notice the question about the skins!

I only really used the Cloud skin, and a few hours of game play under my belt so I really cannot give you an answer.

I fully apologize about that.

I am actually curious as to how you break the game with the DLC, and if the costumes really are that over powered.

Yea I know, I was just curious why he was happy.

There was a promo last week where if you spent $100, Sony would credit $15 to your account.

https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/356818-psn-get-15-for-spending-100-ends-june-21-1159pm-pt/#entry13367276

ends tonight.

There was nothing good today that would have pushed me over if I spent the $66 from last week deals. Instead I spent only $18 and dodged a bullet.
Gotcha. I was happy because it was easy with my pre-orders. Specifically because they were games I could only buy digital or wanted digitally.

Frisky, did you get the free Tron run/r dynamic theme in freebies?
There are no free themes that I can see. Feel free to post a link if I missed it.
Looks like he might have meant this https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/themes/tron-run-r-dynamic-theme/cid=UP1082-CUSA02346_00-UTH0000000007136

The name says it is a Dynamic theme, but where it lists if it is a dynamic theme or a static theme it says it is a static theme. I'll give it a download and see. Oh yeah that is dynamic for sure.

I traded in a bunch of my PS4 games into GS, picked up credit with them and then bought their digital versions during the promo, so I'll get $15 from the purchases. That, and since the PSN credit was discounted when I bought it, it was a double Millhouse moment.

Yep!
I did the exact same thing!

I never can pull the trigger on full price digital games. I'm always worried they might suck and I'm stuck with nothing to trade in. Like imagine if I got Brink digital at launch.

I almost bought it physical

My Gamestop was pushing it sooo hard the weeks leading up to launch.

What are the chances I'll get the $15 credit from spending the $100 so I complete my missing three FF games to complete my collection?

I'm not too worried cause I can always wait for it to go on sale again.

But wow the sale this week is a bit...underwhelming.

Thanks. The issue is that it came out last week and was only made free for PS+ this week, so it doesn't show up under normal avenues for finding new things.

Spent $100.94 to get my $15 back.   Paid ~$73 for the $100 in credit.

So once I get the $15 credit, I'll have spent $58 for:

GTAV PS4

Rainbow 6 Siege

AC Black Flag

Need for Speed

Omega Quintet

Swap Quest [vita]

Given I almost bought RS Siege and NFS at release for $60 each... I'm psyched.

The only cure for my ps4 backlog at this point is a ps5.  that's how I solved my massive ps3 backlog.
