Exactly. Sony has nothing to do with it except for the games they publish.
I don't understand why people think it is only the publisher who sets prices. The retailer ( Sony in this case ) can sell at any price they want ( after the initial , usually 30 to 90 day price embargo ). prices are a collaboration between the two parties. a couple of months ago we had a sale that made Frisky's op several pages. Do you think the publisher pursued the sale of of literally 100's of games. If Sony is willing to lower their mark up then most publishers will lower their price. it is a partnership. Sony has consistently not agreed to lower markups on DLC. Publishers have a big say in the price of their product but Sony can sell any item for any price they want. Saying Sony is handcuffed is not accurate. I love my playstation but a blind defense of Sony is misguided.

So debating between WOnderboy: The Dragon's Trap and Iconoclasts. Iconoclasts is $14.99 and I am sure it will go on sale cheaper in thefuture, but its still only $5 more than Wonderboy.

For those who have played one or both, any recommendations on which is the better purchase?

Haven't played Icon, but I've loved Wonderboy 3 since I first played it way back in the day on TurboDuo and couldn't wait for the remaster. Admittedly, it's a short game by today's standards, but it's fun and does everything right for the type of game it is.

Yes, the Publishers had their hand in that sale. Sony pursues them for big, organized sales like golden week... you are incorrect about Sony being able to do whatever they want. In some cases they may have latitude to Discount game without the Publishers permission or say so, but they would still need 2 pay the publisher as if it was sold at full price. In general, is it safe to say that publishers control the sale prices, not Sony. Once again, I'm not sure how this is defending Sony, it's just how the market place works.

Does anyone know a game that released relatively recently, that a reviewer may have compared to Pikmin? I think it was a fairly well-known release, but likely Indy and PSN only. I thought it might be swords of ditto, but I'm pretty sure it started with an L, I might be wrong.

Masters of Anima? That’s not PSN only (also on XBL) but did get comparisons to Pikmin for the way you control your group of warriors.

Thank you! That's it. For some reason I was thinking iconoclasts, but Masters of anima is definitely the Game i was actually trying to remember. Anyone have opinions on it? Or iconoclasts or swords of ditto for that matter.

Why does it seem like whoever structures these flash sales hasn't left their office in months, if not years? Most of what's on sale has already been on sale countless times before in previous flash sales or been part of PS+ lineups. :wall:
Everything "Purchased" in my library and for less than what I paid for it. Check.

Ugh... why won't they stay out my wallet! All these sales.... did anybody catch when the Flash Sale ends? Not trying to buy anything until May 20.
It says 5/21 8am PST.

Sorry to keep posting.... I'm mulling over Firewatch. It is really all that? Because once I was gonna get 'Edith Finch' but after research found that I might not have enjoyed it. Is Firewatch the hype?

Other games I'm considering too:

PS4

Firewatch Dynamic Theme Bundle

The Crew: Ultimate Edition

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Life Is Strange

EA Family Bundle: Unravel, GW2, Need For Speed

PS3

Need for Speed Most Wanted
I really liked Edith Finch and found it great. I bought Firewatch bundle the week or two after I got Edith and... it's nowhere near as good. It's interesting in the beginning, but found it boring/bland aside from that. There's also bad stuttering issues which made the experience even worse.

I would say the dynamic theme justified the money I spent on the bundle, because that theme is fantastic and I'm still using it to this day.
Different strokes for different fucks. Life is Strange, Firewatch and Edith Finch are among my favorite games, but they're not for everyone. You have to enjoy narrative adventures and interactive storytelling.

Also, crying a lot.

I loved Masters of Anima.

Iconoclasts was fun, but too talky for me. Whole lot of dialog. Also kind of easy so crank up the difficulty.

Swords of Ditto is ok. I had issues with its structure.

I enjoyed Firewatch, but I haven't played Edith Finch to compare them. I really enjoyed the location and music. If you do go for it, go for the dynamic theme bundle. The theme has day night cycles and uses one of the best pieces of music from the game, easily my go to theme.

So wait, there is a flash sale? Just got the email.

Edit: Nevermind. My reading comprehension of this thread went down today. I’ll blame it on lack of sleep and GCU dying.

Edit 2: Meh. I was better off thinking there wasn’t a flash sale.

Do any of the Need for Speed games in the sale play like Burnout?

Need for Speed Rivals. Fun game. It has a cops chasing racers thing going for it like NFS Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit. These games are what Criterion moved onto after Burnout Paradise. Rivals isn’t the best one, but it’s the only one on PS4 and it’s pretty dang good.

I believe I stated it is a partnership. If you want to be exact then publishers do not have any say on the price of a product. They only have a say in the funds they receive from a sale of their product. Sony does not send all of the sale proceeds to the publisher. There is markup on every sale. If it is not contractually stated, the price is Sony's preference. Bottom line, Sony has the largest install base in the history of gaming. The marketplace is owned by Sony. The two entities need each other but the major dependency is from the publisher. Sony could obtain sales on any item they want . The can partner with the publisher or just lower their mark up. It is not accurate to state publishers control the price of their product. I am not incorrect about Sony being able to do what they want. Sony can charge as much or as little as they want ( again after the initial release embargo has past ) . That would not be good business decision but it is fact.

The main point is when your number one ( install base ) every company suffer from the disease of contentment. Look at all the friendly things Microsoft has started doing when they became number two. Think about their policies with the xbone release when they thought they would still be the industry leader. Stating Sony is handcuffed by publishers is not accurate

This is absolutely shocking. Not the policy that you describe, but that you actually wrote this thinking someone here didn't know Sony profits off the store.

As for the rest of your post, sure, I mean yeah, you're bending over backwards to say Sony controls sales. And sure, Sony could give every single game away for free as long as it paid the Publishers their desired amount. But that's missing the point. The fact is, in practice, Publishers control the sales. When you see a sale price during a sale, the publisher set it. Just because in theory, Sony could have a sale by reducing there cut doesn't mean they suddenly have control over the price , nor does it mean it's how things are done.

I'm not sure why you keep trying to twist this into a Sony versus Microsoft thing, because that has nothing to do with it.

yes sir -- you keep being you

The true travesty is that Best Buy charges extra for alternative packaging such as Steelbooks when they are clearly purposefully made in limited supply just to grant an aura of rarity.  And you know that none of that money goes to the alchemists who divined the formula to make the steel.

I randomly stopped getting the wednesday and friday emails from psn  a few weeks ago after years of getting them

such a weird system

Thanks! Probably grab it.

I love Burnout, couldn't get interested in Rivals.

Bought Catlateral Damage for when I eventually get psvr. Three bucks from the wallet, I've bought worse.

Is the new Need For Speed any good? I played Rivals on PC and it was pretty good but don't know if I want to double dip and get it for PS4. I really miss the NFS Underground games

Everything "Purchased" in my library and for less than what I paid for it. Check.

It says 5/21 8am PST.

Different strokes for different fucks. Life is Strange, Firewatch and Edith Finch are among my favorite games, but they're not for everyone. You have to enjoy narrative adventures and interactive storytelling.

Also, crying a lot.

I was about to buy the EA Family Pack that contains this game, but after I researched it, I discovered that the game won't even run without being online. I don't have PS Plus, and if I can't get online someday, that will also make that Need for Speed game useless. So I think that I might pass on it.

Right now, I'm looking at purchasing Party Golf for PS4 although I don't know much about it and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit for PS3. But both are cheap. Any thoughts on Party Golf?

So I found a loop with GameStop and Don’t Starve Together Mega Pack. The discs are faulty and don’t contain all the advertised content. So when you buy the hardcopy in store they print you a code out on your receipt that is SUPPOSED to give you everything they missed (pretty much everything but DST I believe); however it actually gives you the entire digital version of the Mega Pack.

You can literally purchase the game, enter the code on your phone app, then return the hard copy.

Don’t Starve Mega Pack: Free of Charge

So, how is this not stealing?

I'm pretty sure you're wrong. You can still play the story mode without PS Plus. In fact, maybe people prefer turning off other players joining in while playing the story mode anyway, since other Racers can mess up your race

So you’re required to open the game and keep it so as to appease the moral gods?

You’re somethin’ else.
No, I just won't buy the game to keep the DLC that was meant for the game because of an error on the publishers part.

You keep pissing off the moral gods, though...

Anyone know if Need for Speed Rivals has separate trophy lists on PS3 and PS4? I planted it on PS4 but I'm debating Double dipping. Need for Speed is probably my favorite franchise and I can never get enough. I am buying hot Pursuit even though I already plotted it.

That's probably my biggest problem with trophies... I find it hard to go back to games that I've already Plated like Hot Pursuit or demon souls. I wish that wasn't so.
