Shovel Knight: King of Cards and the Showdown multiplayer mode are out 4/9/19 for PS4 and Vita just gets King of Cards:

https://twitter.com/YachtClubGames/status/1035246823936425985

So, I am gonna picking up a PS4 next week (hoping to grab the Spiderman bundle from Best Buy) and looking for some recommendations.  I am probably gonna be picking up the Uncharted games, Last of Us, God of War 4, and possibly Detroit BH, not all at one time but they are all on my list of ones I want to play. How have the PS4s held up quality wise?  Recommend the extended warranty? Nobody else here except me, so I am gonna pass on extra controllers, but any other things you guys recommend other than PS+?

As someone who does not own destiny 2, but almost bought it for $10 a couple times, I'm perfectly happy with this. I don't really see how it's a cash grab. Sure, they want me to buy DLC. So what? That doesn't magically turn giving the base game away for free into a negative. I mean if they gave us blood-borne they'd be hoping for DLC sales too. I mean, that's the end goal for every PS Plus game that has DLC. When they gave us rocket league on day one the goal was to make money with DLC. Was that a cash grab too?
Most plus games sell their season pass or whatever quick after it goes but this is more a heavy handed cash grab because of the following reasons:

1. They broke normal release of plus games that's existed since games came on plus (right?) to try and get everyone in to try gambit, get hooked, and preorder Forsaken that releases on September 4th when this should've been released.

2. Destiny vanilla games are usually offered up as almost free after the big update comes (Forsaken now and before it was Taken King). There's lots of dlc to unpack here and it's still not cheap especially because both expansion packs were pretty weak.

I don't have a problem with it, I was really into Taken King and preordered Destiny 2 and all expansions before release. I've been happy with my experience but I'm probably holding off on Forsaken because they'll offer some discounts come Black Friday time and I'll probably bite then. Yes I'm already switching into Black Friday mode for some games.

I'd say quality wise, it's great. I'd recommend Spider-Man since that one is releasing soon unless you want to wait it out. Definitely grab the ones you listed. I'd say a big one you're missing is Horizon Zero Dawn. I'd also recommend Infamous: Second Son and Until Dawn but that's also adding a lot to play at once lol.

I really don't see how anyone can consider Destiny 2 being free a "cash grab". It's literally free (to PS+ owners) with no obligation to pay for additional content. Of course, if you enjoy the game, you can pick up the DLC and get even more enjoyment out of it, but theres still an entire game to play before considering that. I disagree that they shove the upgrades "in your face"- in fact, the majority of the QOL features that players have been asking for are included in patches for the base game and don't require purchasing the DLC. It's just more content for a game that already has quite a lot of content, especially for free.

A free weekend for EVERYONE..... OMG such a cash grab!!!!!!!!

The *ONLY* difference between PS4 and Xbox/PC is that you actually need to own it on PC/Xbox....

a simple search revels that the gambit mode was a long time planned free weekend

https://comicbook.com/gaming/2018/08/23/destiny-2-gambit-mode-free-trial/

oh no!

it was free on xbox in june as well... them bastards with their cash grabs..

http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/play-destiny-2-for-free-on-xbox-one/

and OMG those PC bastards got it free last month also...

https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-is-free-to-play-this-weekend/

it's like they are constantly trying to steal our money through cash grabs!

And if you have been living under a rock for the past multiple months, Destiny 2 has been on sale for damn near nothing for a long time. (under $10 multiple times if you care to do any searching)

I guess my CAG days should wind down.  My 2 TB hard drive is full not counting all the games I bought but haven't downloaded yet.

I dare say I have enough games.

I should probably wait on buying Spiderman too, I guess, since I have no place to put the installation or updates.

yes, I know I can delete games, but still, I have a lot of games

yes, I know I can delete games, but still, I have a lot of games
I only have the 500 GB hard drive, but I had to delete some installs to fit Destiny 2 on there.

I guess my CAG days should wind down. My 2 TB hard drive is full not counting all the games I bought but haven't downloaded yet.

This is like the guy sitting at the bar telling the fellow drunks he wonders if he should stop drinking. We're all stuck in this together. You know where you belong. You can't quit. Don't fight it.

Another flash sale incoming.

Is this what Trump meant when he said we’d get tired of winning? Please Sony, no more flash sales, it’s getting to be too much.

When my internal 2tb drive was filling up, I solved the problem with this. :)
That's a good option, but "Uninstall" is a much cheaper one. You can't be actively playing 2TB worth of games regularly. I know it is hard to do that at times, I've definitely gone through it myself. I have a small list of ones that I play regularly that stay, plus a few recently played titles and anything that has been delisted (just in case). Break the hoarder instinct! :)

The majority of the flash sale is a bunch of PS3 games that have been marked down countless times before. Out of my full wishlist, the only game on sale from the current flash sale is Danganronpa 3 to $30.

I’d rather they go with one good flash sale a month, than this weekly bottom of the barrel stuff going on lately.

At my point in life, I value time over money. Sure, I'll pay as little as I can for things, but I don't have the patience to wait around a few hours for large files to download. What I do is keep all my downloaded games on my internal drive, along with any disc games I happen to be playing at that point in time. But I will move all the disc games that I may not have 100%ed over to the external for quick access so I don't have to redownload the patches again the next time I want to play them.

Anyone know what happens if I uninstall the data from the disc games (like Horizon Zero Dawn, GTA, FF 15).

Would I have to reinstall that 50 GB to just play again?  I'd think yes but that's where a lot of the data is being taken up,...like all my kids Lego/Skylanders/etc games

Whoops, looks like Kain pre-answered my question while I was typing.

Yeah, I'm just happy when there's nothing on sale that I want. At least I can delay adding to the list.

A weird thing I should do since I've never tried it....maybe I should, you know, finish a game so I can delete it in good conscious before starting a new one. Or at a minimum, have just a few games that I'm actively finishing?

It's a crazy thought but it's maybe worth trying since I know I'm gonna buy more.

Remember those furniture stores that were always having a going out business sale and, of course, attracted a lot of attention?  They never really went out of business and people eventually figured out the fire sale tactic was just a gimmick for their normal pricing.

Hey Sony, we're figuring out your game, here...

Murdered Soul Suspects standard price should be $3.99 if it's "on sale" for this more often than the normal price...same thing for many other titles.  Don't fool us with recycled pricing and call it a flash sale.

Wow that’s a lot of whining in your post. I’d normally ignore that it exists but you posted some errors. It’s a free day not weekend. I didn’t read your whole post but you never addressed breaking plus monthly release schedule which is a pretty big move by Sony and them to stoke it up for forsaken.

Anywho I summarized why people were calling it that so well there wasn’t really a need for a response or this. But keep on keeping on.

Dude, giving us something early does not somehow boister your argument its a cash grab. Cash grab is a term with meaning. It does not apply here. Its being used here to paint something logical and good as somehow negative. Yes, they are trying to sell dlc. Yes, they are giving us the base game timed well with dlc releases. Big whoopity doo. That isnt a cash grab, its a solid logical marketing strategy.

That is not an unusual philosophy around here, it is also what leads us all to have ridiculous backlogs. We have a ton of games we fully intend to get around to playing, often we never do. I just looked at my XB1 and PS4 recently at all the games I refused to uninstall because I kept telling myself I was going to play them anytime now. But who am I kidding, I've got games like God of War in my backlog barely played and Spider-man coming next week - I'm not going to go back to 90% of that other stuff any time soon if at all with quality games like those at the front of the line. So I am going through a bit of a purge right now.

If you have the time and/or desire to play that many different games at a time, then more power to you. But most people aren't like that.

A lot of people on this thread have OCD and various other issues that cause them to go nuts about finishing and buying games to their detriment.

Yep. I discovered (like many others) that the best way to be a cheap ass gamer is just to not buy anything before I'm finished with what I am currently playing.

I just had to buy Detroit :Become Human on release day. I've played about 3 hours of it. And Shadow of War remains unfinished because I put it aside to play Detroit, which was then put aside to play Octopath Traveler. Now I'm looking at Fire Pro Wrestling World with a 20% off coupon, even though I know it will just sit there unplayed most of the time in all likelihood. And Spiderman is coming...

I could save more than most sale prices if I just finished one thing at a time. And I have things like Bloodborne, Life is Strange, and other quality games in my backlog. I really have to watch which games I purchase (like RPG's) that end up being time sinks that I keep passing on playing because I don't have the time. Hell, I bought Elite Dangerous months ago and have never even played it! And I may never. It just sounded like a good deal at the time on a genre I like (space sim). But I know it's a time sink.

Which brings me to my current philosophy. If a game doesn't grab me within the first few hours, I just accept my loss of $, trade it back, and move on.
Your last paragraph is my philosophy as well. It's taken a while for me to get comfortable with it but honestly time is worth more than money. Spend time playing a shitty game just because I paid $50-$60 for it or spend time with my kids? It's become an easy choice.

So...shitty game was the choice?

So, I am gonna picking up a PS4 next week (hoping to grab the Spiderman bundle from Best Buy) and looking for some recommendations. I am probably gonna be picking up the Uncharted games, Last of Us, God of War 4, and possibly Detroit BH, not all at one time but they are all on my list of ones I want to play. How have the PS4s held up quality wise? Recommend the extended warranty? Nobody else here except me, so I am gonna pass on extra controllers, but any other things you guys recommend other than PS+?
I bought the extended warranty for my launch PS4 so of course it's still going strong.

This, he just doesnt get it and would rather complain and blame sony.

Free day or weekend for the dlc, i don’t care. I dont play... so dont care.
Although now that i have it on ps4 i may play it a bit.

They gave a FREE WEEKEND for the base game......... free weekend and a few extra days. Omg such a cash grab.
Was just pointing out that its been done for bith pc and xbox, you probably bitched then also.

It's not necessarily a bad sale, it's just that I bought all this shit already. As usual, nothing is showing up from my wishlist. At least throw us a fucking 20% off code and let us make our own deals.

EDIT: I just checked live.playstation.com and the page has changed for the first time since E3. I'm predicting a 20% off code going up soon for September, possibly centered around a Shadow of the Tomb Raider theme. (I also noticed all the old PS1 classic Tomb Raiders are on sale to boot.)

I thought they were going to do something for Spider-Man. I guess not?

That would make sense, but maybe they figured they were better off selling their Spidey-themed PS4 Pro consoles rather than promoting digital sales. Honestly, there are so many September releases, it could be a toss up. Looking back at some of my past rewards for the year, there was MLB '18, Far Cry 5 and Detroit: Become Human codes and those were all introduced well in advance of their street dates. Might be cutting it too close for the webslinger.

I've enjoyed Donut County a lot and got the platinum last night, which is pretty easy. The writing for the items your hole collects throughout the game is really good, so I made a video showing them off:

I love Tim Roger's reviews. He keeps them fun even if they are long.
My DQ XI is actually scheduled to be delivered today if it that happens I would be happy to start playing a few days early. I am very excited for this game.

Thanks for the recommend. I was considering it back when it was on preorder discount since it was made by the dude who did Unfinished Swan and Edith Finch, but then the word physics in the description threw me off. The last physics-based game I played was I Am Bread and I still consider it the worst game I've played all year. I'll pick it up next time it gets discounted.

Bought digital but man do I wish I was you. Can't wait to pour hours into that game.

I was really excited for this game, and it was an enjoyable ~3 hour platinum, but I wish there was more to it. I'd like access to the entire town/world at some point. The writing is sharp though and it's well worth the current asking price.

My neighbor delivered it to me just now.

And my package was delivered UPS tracking shows but not at my address....what a day to deliver my package to the wrong address checked with my neighbors and no sign...called UPS said the driver is new and may have dropped it off at the wrong house waiting to hear back as they are trying to get a hold of the driver what a day lol.
It showed up thanks to my neighbor!

There's no brief window of time where you can use a 20% off code and still get the preorder bonuses for games is there? Like between 12:01 AM EST and 3:00 AM EST the night it comes out or something? Really want those Spiderman suits. Unless you can earn them in game eventually. Anyone know if it's just early access or truly exclusive?

There are only physics so far as things fall into your hole. That's it.

It’s early access. You will be able to earn them in game.
