I disagree. The quantity of content is way less, but quality has gone way up. Previous GTs were chock full of cars and tracks, but they were mostly cosmetic and physical modeling was lackluster. Contrast that with GT Sport which has a tighter focus and every car is modeled beautifully. Online at S-rank is also the cleanest I’ve ever played outside of iRacing. Well worth the $20.
Places pretty much last in racing games.... GT has fallen.
You may love it, but you are in the minority.

I've got a wheel and pedal setup, paid for multiple years of iRacing, play on PC mostly, I mean, I'm definitely not mainstream. GT Sport has value for what it is. At $20, it's not even bad.

To be clear... I’m not saying GT Sport is garbage...
It used to be GT series, and then the also rans.
Now it’s Forza, then everyone else. F7 has an 11 point lead over GT Sport on metacritic, which I don’t agree with them all that much, but that’s a large margin.

GT Sport just isn’t what it used to be, disappointed when it came out.. was hoping for it to be the king again.
I got the steel book version for $30ish a while back (BB?) or I’d have jumped on the $20 deal.

Good, but not the best anymore (sadly)

It's actually Burnout Paradise. Sorry, but nobody else comes close to Burnout for great racing games.

Construe that position however you want, but your second paragraph exemplifies your defense of these practices as you put forth the hyperbole that we don't own any games we buy and you can either unethically steal from companies or support them by accepting the practices without even acknowledging the ones that don't pad their wallets with the "standard practice" of charging fees to play online. Scolding me for stating that these dumb apologist stances lead to further limitations and more fees is a bit hypocritical given what you followed that with, but I wouldn't expect anything less from fanboys in their designated thread who seem content to pay for something that was previous free. You're given a few free games a month, with the incentive to buy every console to fully benefit from it, and you're given the opportunity to pay them discounted prices to buy more games. But I don't think that allows for the compliance the business model is escalating towards. Net neutrality passed and will inevitably happen, and I see people adopting the same "we don't own the internet anyway, every ISP does it" attitude in defense of what essentially results in more corporate exaction.

My gaming heyday was back when games were finished on release and online gaming was free (though it still is on 2/4 platforms). I'm against all of the micro-transaction and premium content policies, and anything else implemented that I see as taking advantage of the consumer. Microsoft started charging people to play online, Sony followed suit. The XB1 limits game sharing to the owner of the game, and I wonder how long it'll take Sony to do the same. People should realize they're encouraging these bad practices instead of denying it and defending the companies for starting them.
There's so much wrong with this post it hurts my head.

First off, fact is not hyperbole. We lease our PS4 games.

second, bringing up your age to make you sound like some sort of authority is silly. Guess what, I grew up with coinops and intellivision. Whoopty do.

Third, and your greatest flaw, is continuing to make assumptions about people. Guess what, I've been railing against all the same things you have for ages. I despise pay-to-win, loot boxes, almost all DLC, paywalls, anti-consumer copy protection/drm, and the Not So Slow erosion of consumer rights in the gaming industry. Again, whoopty do.

Because you know where we differ? I believe that if someone is misinformed, or relying on an illogical argument, Etc you correct them.

It's not my fault that you can't get past the difference between explanations of something and defending something. Point Blank, Explaining a position is not defending it. Conflating those two concepts is a relatively recently widespread plague on our society.

So yeah, when someone suggests, for example, that PS plus fees should be pre-loaded into the initial launch price, I will do my best to help them understand why that is a ludicrously bad decision for Sony to implement. That doesn't mean I'm defending anything, it means I'm explaining something. Your inability to differentiate that is something you really need to work on.

That you think explanation of something condones or encourages it is detrimental to everything important about human communication, education, and understanding. You don't hide the opponent's point of view, and you don't let people misrepresent it. You put forth the best argument for both sides, even if people like you decide you're the enemy for doing so.

Nah, Forza Horizon 3 for me. Then Burnout Revenge (or even BO3) trumps Paradise.
Mario kart above paradise...
beyond wrecking, imo the burnout series has little to do with “racing”
Fun, sure. But “wrecking simulation game” fits burnout more than a “racing game”

Following the other comments above... raced all my life, on a real track with real vehicles. Family has a very long history in racing. (Racing, not “drifting”)

May have to finally spring for Salt and Sanctuary for the Vita at $10.79, since waiting for a Limited Run Games physical release is proving to be pointless and endless.

Burnout, whether it be Burnout 3 or Paradise, is still best racer in my eyes.  For me, a racing game lets you essentially hold down the gas button from start to finish.  These other games like Gran Turismo, where you have to practically come to a complete stop to make a turn, drive me up a freakin' wall.  That's not racing, that's like a driving simulator.  I have a driver's license in real life, I don't need a driving simulator.  What I don't have in real life is the ability to put the pedal to the metal, fly off jumps, drive on the wrong side of the road, and every other thing that Burnout affords.  Kart racing is fun, but I see it as less of a racer and more of the type of game I'd play if I want to blast other players.  And don't get my started on these racing games where you just drive endless laps in a perfect oval...

I could understand how sim racing is attractive to car enthusiasts but it's so boring and complicated for me. Give me arcade racing anytime.

Something to remember about GT Sport is that it's a spin-off made in collaboration with the FIA. When I found out that it wasn't going to be a "true" GT series release, I decided to pass. My wild guess is that GT7 won't be released until the next PlayStation console is hits the market. I'll likely pick up GT Sport when it permanently drops to $20 or less.

Burnout Paradise would be the best driving game of all time if it had a 'Crash Mode.' It does not, so the title remains with Burnout Revenge. In any case, I really love Burnout (Takedown, Revenge, and Paradise).

Also, I have a very soft side for "Blur," though I'd characterize that as a kart game not a driving game.

Blur was actually pretty fun, completely forgot about that game.

Anyone who was interested in checking out the non-VR Battlezone Gold Edition but, like me, scoffed at the $35 price, Best Buy has the original VR version for $15.99 with GCU. And the VR version gets a free upgrade to the Gold Edition so it’s the same as the new release for more than half off.

Used to love the old Battlezone games so going to check it out. Read a few reviews that say it’s still pretty fun without VR.

Blur was probably one of the worst kart games I've ever played, as it never felt good or played well for me. It was an awful way for Bizarre to go out without being able to make their style of sim-ish racing game after having to move on from the PGR series.

I finished my first playthrough of Beyond: Two Souls yesterday.  It's not a masterpiece like Heavy Rain is, but it's still quite good and worth playing.  Kudos to PS+ for providing such a good game.  I plan to play it a few more times to see more endings and get the platinum.

Just chiming in long enough to say that Burnout Paradise didn't do it for me.  I preferred Revenge (or 3).  Also, my personal favorite arcade racer was the San Francisco Rush series.  Really wish someone would bring that back with modern tech.

I'm thinking of getting a PSVR.

1. Should I test it first to see if it makes me too nauseous to play? Where can I do that?

2. What's the lowest price I should wait for on a bundle with the camera and move controllers?

Ok I’ll throw my .02 cents and say racing games are boring and suck.
I used to be a big Gran Turismo player, starting with the first one when I was just 13. But I've been feeling similar to you every time I reinstall GT Sport and try to give it another go.

I think you can make an appointment to test VR at participating Fry's and Best Buy locations. I know most people have reported initial nausea when they start (some games are worse than others), but you get better at it as you go.

All bundles come with a camera but only the Skyrim bundle currently comes with Move controllers (which are a must at this point). That retails for $349.99 right now, so shoot for about $300 on sale (you can try eBay intermittently). Keep in mind if you buy the Move controllers separately, they seem to go for about $80+ for some reason.

You might get further responses in the PSVR thread.

Just curious, since I haven't played any of the racing games mentioned -- how does WipEout Omega Collection stack up to all the others? I remember everybody was creaming their pants about the VR update just a few short weeks ago.

I am eyeing the Star Wars PSP bundle on sale for 20 dollars?

Is the bundle worth it at that price and how different are the PSP games in terms of story compared to their regular counterparts?

I wasn’t actually being totally serious. Personally I wouldn’t spend that much money on a bunch of old PSP games that I used to own physically when they came out and didn’t even really enjoy them then. Perhaps if they were vita ports with trophies maybe but that’s just my opinion. I should have used yellow font though lol

I wish they gave a list of the tables. This is rather terrible for pinball simulation.

Twilight Zone and Theatre of Magic!? I already own both, but very sad to see that other people won't be able to experience them (and the many other great tables).

EDIT: Oh no, just realized that all my Pinball Arcade purchases for PS3/Vita don't work for the PS4 version. I guess I won't be able to play them since my 64GB Vita card is broken and my PS3 is stuck in storage.

EDIT2: I may just double dip. Haven't decided yet.

Aren't some of these pinball tables on the physical copies of the various Pinball Arcade related titles? I could have sworn that I've seen some of them on the Wii, PS2, and PSP pinball video games. I could be misremembering, but if that's the case, they won't be lost forever.

I've been wanting to get into Xcom2 and the DLC. I see the base game disc is still around $32 w/ GCU on BB which to me is really high. Does the game + expansion go on sale frequently? If so what would be a good price to hold out for? I just recently beat Ni no Kuni 2 and God of war and find myself really bored. GOW has made me not want to play other games because the bar is now to high.
