Well, I had a funny feeling this year would be lacking and my gut is never wrong. Last of Us is nothing without Joel; if this is truly focusing on Ellie then I just can't see myself playing it. Ghost of Tsushima looks great but my open world sandbox fill is already coming from RDR2, Fallout 76, Just Cause 4, and the next Elder Scrolls. Death Stranding: would play for Norman Reedus alone but I already know it's going to be a mindfuck of no idea wtf is going on in the game. Resident Evil 2 remake is awesome, but a remaster nobody asked for. 10/10 would rather see Demon's Souls remaster over that VR game as well.

For me at least, Bethesda knocked it out of the park in their last half and was the only hype this year.
Everybody has been asking for a Resident Evil 2 Remake. Everyone except you apparently :p

I'm a PSVR fan so was bitter that Sony has different plans (or no plans) to announce more AAA games or at least release dates for ones we know about (Golem). Other than that the pacing was a bit pretentious but Sony still celebrates single player games with top tier technology which is fine with me. They also appear to be have more announcements throughout E3 so there's hope that PSVR gets more love.

Eight new PSVR games announced and ten others that were already known have been shown in some form. It's gotten a lot of attention so far.

this is why i never come here for opinions on games i'm considering to purchase

only here will you find people that think the Last of Us sucks or a game like Sleeping Dogs is better than GTA or something ridiculous like that
How is listening to an echo chamber of endless praise the smart way to make a decision? You could redbox a game like The Last of Us and finish it in a night or two and save yourself the $60, too. Or just watch it on YouTube. You get all of the story without having to play through the mundane crap.

Any input would be appreciated:

Project Cars 2 for $24 or Gran Turismo Sport for $20? I have zero interest in online multiplayer, won’t play it a lot, am not great at racing games, and just want a good racer with an in the car view to play on my projector.

You probably watch POV videos of rollercoaster rides on YouTube so you don't have to pay for admission or wait in lines.

But only 4 were really announced if you don't include the earlier presentation a couple of weeks back. I suppose I'd be happier with just a clearer release schedule because other than The Persistence in June(?) the next two months for VR are a mystery and there hasn't been a sizable game of quality since Moss in February.

I saw something the other day about a potential repeat of the Spend $100, Get $15 promo. Anybody know if that's happening? Have a few things in my cart now and itching to pull the trigger but I can wait if that's coming.

The argument is that actually playing The Last of Us is a fucking chore. It's just a waiting game to get to the next cutscene.
Couldn’t possibly disagree with you more. The whole thing is fricken masterpiece from beginning to end (still the best ending to a video game ever). My opinion of course

my 3 personal favorite single player experiences (outside of far cry 3 for mindless fun) are little nemo dream master, kingdom hearts, and last of us

I disagree with that argument I had an incredible time when I played it

Mind boggling how anyone can have the opinion that The Last of Us is a "chore to play" and still enjoy playing video games.
Because it's a boring game to play. Especially those awful stealth segments where you can't run because the mushroom zombies can eat you, but your AI partner can run around completely unnoticed and literally run into enemies with zero consequence. There are so many portions of the game that deliberately slow the pace of the game just so you can gawk at it. Those fungal spore segments are just there so you remember that Ellie is immune to the zombie rabies and the thrilling box pushing prerequisites for any area taller than three feet was always a blast.

If you like the game, that's fine, but saying you don't like video games because you don't enjoy it is just ridiculous. It's just a jumbled collection of setpieces with minimal user input required.

So the difficulty setting was too high for you, got it.

I love that we all get to argue about TLOU every few months. Shockingly, some people like it and some people don't. Like all games.

I was the guy. And it's not that I'm trying to do too much. I've just become more of a "patient gamer" over time. Hype means very little to me now. Watching videos of a bunch of new or upcoming games doesn't excite me as much as it once did nor does it make me want to run out and do a pre-order. There was a time when I would have gotten that excited - probably during the GameCube, PS2 and original Xbox era. I also worked retail selling games back then and was more immersed in the gaming culture than I am now. But I do think that my interest in gaming might be leveling off now. Never expected that to happen, but methinks it's just the way of things. I have way more games than I will ever have time to play, so now I think I'm just going to play those barring anything $10 or below that pops up on CAG that strikes my fancy. I really don't buy that many games anymore unless they are really cheap. Truthfully, I just watched Sunday's Xbox live stream to get my Mixpot. But am I wrong? Anyone else feel the way that I do about not getting hyped over upcoming releases?
I'm with you. This is the first generation of consoles where I willingly only bought one console. Part of that is because the two main competing platforms are so similar, and the other reason is because I really hate having to install or update games. I used to complain a lot when some PS3 games required installation before they could be played - I didn't know how good I had it compared to today where every game needs to be installed and the average game weighs in at 50GB! If I get a new game, I'd probably have to delete something off my hard drive, so I just end up playing less games than ever before. The good news is that I exercise more now with the extra free time, so at least it's been great for my health!

Coming off E3, the biggest game I'm looking forward to is Resident Evil 2, and that's just a remake of a 20-year-old games. The other games I want are Soulcalibur and Dead or Alive, which look to be more of the same as before, though that's not a terrible thing. And Battletoads, which little is known about.

The argument is that actually playing The Last of Us is a fucking chore. It's just a waiting game to get to the next cutscene.
It's one thing to not like it, but tlou gameplay is far from a chore. It does so many things right, from nailing in-game crafting through coming up with a believable upgrade system. I realize some people dislike the comnat but personally I love how at the very beginning every pistol shot counts and accuracy is so difficult.

Your later comments regarding the AI are old and stale. Any game in which the AI could actually be seen by enemies and break stealth would piss players off to no end. You never want AI to ruin a players stealth run, so having your companion occasionally running out of cover as enemies search is by far the Lesser sin.

There's nothing too difficult about the game, though. Yeah, the accuracy is a little wonky, but it's still an Uncharted game at its core so you just have to aim center mass and the human baddies die right away. Again, the only time this is ever needed is when you're in those setpiece gunfights, because the only smart way through a clustered area is takedowns and arrow shots.

The AI complaints are completely valid. It's a "serious" game, so breaking the immersion like that is a dumb move. It's especially stupid because they could've fixed it easily by just having your partner stay behind or off in a separate area not ruining the atmosphere you're supposed to be taking in. They have no business being anywhere near these segments because they don't help you in a fight in the first place.

Maybe these games are difficult by Naughty Dog standards, but it's just another third person shooter with a fat budget and even fatter script.

Dont you understand that you are not allowed to have any disagreement on certain things here?
Games, some people, some concepts... you must agree or you will be berated for daring to call yourself a gamer. Or have any opinion.

For the record, i own the game... ps4 freebie. Have never played it beyond the first main segment.

I agree that TLOU is a chore to play, mainly cause i think zombies/infections are stupid. I bought the game years ago and i quit the game twice early on. Only about a month ago I forced myself to play through it. The story only really gets interesting once you get to the university, and it was an enjoyable game after that.

the TLOU 2 video didnt have any zombies in it so hopefully they toned down on them

Just like in an Uncharted game, the cutscenes and setpieces force gameplay linearity. Classic example being the suburb sniper you can't take out with guns or grenades.

Personally I really enjoyed TLOU. There are a billion-and-one crazy open-ended sandbox games out there. This game is more about characters, story, and tone, and I think they nailed it.

I have not played The Last of Us yet, but I have high hopes.
I played it way late. Played it on the ps4 for the first time with the dlc

It was great for me with touching scenes and a really enjoyable atmosphere , hope you like it when you get a chance

this is why i never come here for opinions on games i'm considering to purchase

only here will you find people that think the Last of Us sucks or a game like Sleeping Dogs is better than GTA or something ridiculous like that
Not everyone likes super scripted games. I couldn't find redeeming qualities with Telltale's Walking Dead, for example.

Anyone having issuing with the Playstation Store on a browser?  I can access the store if I am not signed in, but if I sign in, I get the "Unable to Find This Page" screen?

I had the same issue. The zombie shit and all the sneaking around got really tiresome.

I'm hoping part 2 is more like the Tomb Raider games where you can play them different ways.

I have not played The Last of Us yet, but I have high hopes.
I got a little ways into it (maybe 4 or 5 hours) and put it down. I don’t remember what I ended up playing instead but I need to go back to it. The beginning pulls on the heart strings.
