Anoyone saying there isn’t blatant pandering going on isn’t paying attention.

Tech industries like game companies tend to be heavily progressive and they like to push the social agenda.

I don’t care myself but it’s often so heavy handed and over the top that I get sick of it.
Heavy handed on over the top? By literally just existing?

I do wish one day I could have someone tell us all "the right way" to disrupt the status quo. I think the mere act of changing things is going to met with backlash from people who simply dont want to think about different things. They dont want to be actively hostile, they just wish to be passively indifferent. When their hand is forced, when it it thrust upon them, they lash out *hard*.

Seriously though, if you add up all the media that is so-called "pandering" and compare it against the sum total of all the media being created, it is still only a tiny part. But they cant let that shit go. However, those glossed over by the status quo are supposed to be content that 'that's just the way it's always been."  Well, I think they are going to have to deal with a rocky period as we are shifting to a new normal.

I wonder if this is what it was like after Loving v. Virginia. No one would bat (much) of an eye at an interracial couple today. But I bet it was seen as "pandering" on The Jeffersons back then.

I'm only against badly written pandering like The Last Jedi, but I'd watch The Jeffersons any day.

I see Danganronpa  V.3 is on sale for $23.99 on Vita. Is this the cheapest it has been on sale for Vita?

I bought the previous two Danganronpa games physically for Vita, but physical copes of V.3 are hard to come by, without paying for inflated prices. I want to get the third game on Vita too, but considering digital. Just wondering if this might go cheaper in the future or maybe not since PS is phasing out Vita. Hmm decisions.

Just one man's opinion, but I loved and platinumed DGR1, I really liked DGR2 and even enjoyed the Future and Despair arc of the anime. That being said, I've had the hardest time going through DGR3. It's been some time since playing DGR2, so I dont think it's a case of burnout, but I play DGR3 in fits and starts. It's almost like, I just dont care. A sad thing to say about a game that I bought physical release week and havent taken out of my Vita since...just find myself going to some digital games whenever I pull out the Vita (currently replaying P3P).

That's unfortunate. I have it in my cart for PS4 but now I'm having second thoughts...

I didn't pay attention to the gender politics discussion, so I might have missed someone posting the news about the new "Download" feature for PlayStation Now, which currently doesn't seem to do anything. Does anyone here subscribe to that service? I'd want to tinker around and see what else was added. That would be exciting for PlayStation to have their own Game Pass-like service, only with 600+ games instead of 100+. It could theoretically also mean PS Now will be introduced to new countries sans a streaming option. Exciting.
If that happens I’m subscribing immediately and for forever.

A sad thing to say about a game that I bought physical release week and havent taken out of my Vita since...just find myself going to some digital games whenever I pull out the Vita (currently replaying P3P).
Yeah, I was a big fan of both DGR1 and DGR2. I even liked Ultra Despair Girls , although not nearly as much as the other two titles. But your comments seem to make me question purchasing this game currently, although I do still want it. Would you say $23.99 is a good price for the game or would you wait to see if it drops lower? I am one of those indecisive shoppers.

So, there is not any mechanical defect with the game. It *is* "another one of those". By all expectations, I should like the game. But for some reason I cant explain, I'm just indifferent. It's not broken, it's not a departure from the series. I guess I just havent found any of the characters endearing. The MC (whose name I cant even remember) is just as plain Jane as they come (I think she plays the piano...it's been months since I booted it up). There is one earnest/sarcastic dude who I cant stand,  an annoying borderline cultist, and there's an amnesiac (of course there is). None of them are Makoto or Hina or Nekomaru or Peko, characters that I loved. And none (or course) match up to Togami (my absolute favorite). I need characters to invest in in a story driven game. I've not found that yet.

So while I'm not upset that I paid Release Week prices, I cannot give a whole-hearted recommendation either. I love the series. Perhaps I'm just in a different head-space these days. There is a demo. You can try it.

Disruption of the status quo inevitably starts with the Grass Roots. By the time mainstream media and corporations get on the bandwagon they aren't trying to disrupt anything so much as make money.

Your position seems quite unfair. You dismiss accusations of pandering suggesting it's all just social disruption, while accusing anyone of pointing it out as being resistant to change. That ignores the fact that the word actually does have meaning.

You are completely missing the middle ground. You're conflating the message with how the message is presented. They're two different things. I have no problem separating the two and complaining about 1, even if people such as yourself try to paint anyone who takes issue as the enemy.

Personally I'm fine with the lack of decent sales lately. I've bought a ton of games in the six months I've had a PS4, and I don't need any temptation to get any more any time soon.

It would probably be considered more filling a quota for diversity back then if that. Granted since most people didn't even own a tv back then as it was a luxury item it likely didn't have a huge impact regardless. Interacial couples wise it also greatly depends on the gender of race and location. White man with a black woman was significantly less frowned upon than a black man with a white woman. Some of the atrocities committed are horrifying to say the least. And obviously anywhere but the south in the usa would be significantly easier.

California was actually quite progressive on that front thankfully. and I recall something about them having the first african american police officer back in the 1800s which was absolutely amazing to me.

While I agree with this sentiment, it's pissing me off that a bunch of older, more obscure titles I want to buy never go on sale. I've looked them up on psprices and they've been on sale before, but we keep getting the same garbage over and over again. I just want to cross them off my list and move on.

I agree. I still have Brothers, Shovel Knight, and Heavy Rain on my wish list. Not sure Heavy Rain has even been on sale and the same could be said for Sonic Mania.

Man, how has Sonic Mania never had a decent sale? I guess at this point I just wait for Sonic Mania Plus.

What's with the scarcity of Ys VIII? The physical version is out of stock on Amazon, and it seems like it's been that way because the lowest on the resale market is $89.99. It hasn't even been on sale digitally.

Keep playing. I didn't expect DGR3's story to turn out like it did, and eventually couldn't put my Vita down until the end.

That said, it's the only Danganronpa game I haven't gotten the platinum trophy for because the bonus content is far too RNG-based and not as fun as the other games' bonus modes.

I have this same question. At this point I'm just gonna wait for my switch copy.

I dont dismiss the "pandering". I'm not sure where you read *that* into my posts. However, I'll state very clearly for the record where I stand on the "pandering": I WELCOME it. Yeah, I *want* them to ham-handedly force the issue. For far too long these other voices have been unheard. I want them to keep pushing and keep square-peg round-holing until people dont even care anymore. Eventually, it will even out and you wont even even notice it. It's not a big deal for R&B songs to have a guest star rapper today, but I remember late 80's early 90's think "Oh gosh, another 'rent-a-rapper'. I'm not saying that in particular is a *good* thing (debatable). But it shows how something that once felt forced now is barely noticed. Could say the same thing about hip-hop/rap in advertisements, sport-stadium timeouts, etc.

And that companies do it purely for profit: GOOD! *That's* how a capitalist system is supposed to work. When it come pariah for your company to be known as the one who "would never" give voice to such groups, then we'd be finally getting to the point where it doesnt matter.

Yes, I would like it if we just magically got to a place where you dont think twice about a show about a 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' type child struggling with Little League...but he happens to have two moms. You make that show today, you'll be accused of pandering. Really, that's the life of my co-worker's son(s) who play baseball with my son. That's why I ask the question of "how is it supposed to happen?"

Again, I dont think most people, even the majority of those who react negatively, are acting maliciously (there are, of course some extremists, but fuck them). They really just dont see it as an issue so why is a big deal being made of it. They dont want to feel like it's being shoved in their face. I understand that. But honestly, I dont care how they feel. If they've never felt under-represented, never had to hide, or code-switch, I am not interested in making them feel any more comfortable. Women, LGBTQ, minorities, etc., have long dealt with this discomfort. It's hard to empathize with those who have not tried to sympathize with you.

So if one feels discomfort, feels that something is being taken away from them, feel that they have to deal with a mess not of their own making: Welcome to my world. If you're (royal you, not personal you) looking for advice on how to navigate this new world, I'd say, just focus on the similarities. In Ellie's case, according to the trailer, she is simply a person stuck in this shitty world, trying to survive, dealing with those would kill her for resources. And despite all this filth and evil, she still has conflict able companionship. She still has the very human emotions of a young person in a possibly budding romance. That's a story that could be told about anyone.

But some are still shocked by the kiss.

I know Ys 8 was low stocked from the beginning at a local Best Buy I went to. Usually had only a copy or two at most. Probably best to not sleep on it.

Thanks for the play sale ending time Frisky. I may pick up...one thing maybe?

Either Last Guardian or Shadow of Colossus worth it at those prices? Don’t seem like big discounts but I’m not sure if they go on sale often or not.

Since I just got the Pro, I bought TLOU Remastered, Knack, HZD Complete, and Bloodborne Complete. Anything else good that I should check out that’s on sale?

Nioh is great if you like the souls games, god of war is one of the best games I've played in awhile and looks fantastic on a PS4 pro. Make sure to check the contents of the ps4 box as mine had a 20% off coupon in one if the pamphlets. It wasn't in the bag with the manual it was loose in the box.

Edit: oh and definitely check out the uncharted games if you haven't played them and shadows of the collosus is a great remake if you enjoyed the original.

Thanks, I will check those out. Really looking forward to the new Spider-Man game...hopefully it’s good!

Is the Resident Evil 7 DLC worth the current sale price point of $15? Any thoughts?
Completely worth it... Do it .. Do it

Grab uncharted lost legacy, it's fantastic. Not too Short and not too long, female lead characters that push the story. By the end you'll be :twoguns:

I support affecting societal change through appeal to reason, critical thought, education, introduction of new ideas, Etc.

The techniques you are alluding to, where media ham-fistedly forces ideas, crosses many of my personal lines. You are supporting propaganda, indoctrination, inculcation, and the general idea that people's minds should be shaped by the media.

I grant that this happens, but the world I want to move towards is one of rational, analytical, thought, not blind adoption of ideas. So while I support your end goal of a better world, I cannot support how you want to get there.

I trust that people can reach these better ideas through careful, well done, media. Pandering not required.

Philosopically, I agree with you. I'm a man of science. I *prefer* logic, reasoned thought, empirical evidence, etc. However, I'm also an engineer, which requires repeatable results. And all the emprical evidence shows that what you call "propaganda, indoctrination, inculcation", or more generally 'advertisement' - *works*. It's been used against many of these groups for years. They (we) are not starting from an equal footing. Think about it, there is the (seemingly) undying image of the "lazy negro", but yet it was the very labor of these negros who created wealth for the slavemasters. You've heard the phrase "black-on-black crime", though probably not "white-on-white crime" or "asian-on-asian crime" even though all empirical evidence shows that the highest probability is that the victim and the perpetrator are of the same race. So why one term and not the other? Well, you know...

So yeah, while I would prefer it were another way, I'm not for 'unilateral disarmament'. I'm not taking that arrow out of my quiver while it is still fully stocked in the quiver of my adversary. I know Michelle Obama implores that "when they go low, we go high," but I hate that it is always the one pressing for change, pressing for relief of an unjust system, who is required to be the one of the higher moral fiber. I'm sorry, I havent achieved that level of enlightenment yet. Maybe in the next lifetime. For now, I just want to do what I can to make things a little bit better.

I'll reason with the reasonable, make emotional appeals to the emotional and even fool the foolish. If you cant/wont go down all those paths with me, it's cool. If ultimately, I'm wrong in my methods, I'm willing to face my maker saying "I did what I thought was right." And, IMO, that's all any of us can do. That's a line you wont cross, I will. There are lines *I* wont cross. We each have to find our own way.

So I hope you understand me and my position. I will not post further on this topic in this thread. But anyone who want to respond, retort, commend, condem my post(s), I'm available via PM. Be Best.

What website do you guys use to see if something has ever gone on sale on PSN? Im really wanting Rez Infinite to check it out in VR and if it never goes on sale I may just bite at full price.

What site or forum thread do you all use to find good PSN deals? As much fun as I've had in this "Let's debate The Last of Us for a week" thread, I'm all about them sales.

I know you guys recommended Nioh. Regular is $18 and Complete is $25, which seems a little high. Is it worth the price?
Considering that NiOh's 3 pieces of DLC normally cost $9.99 each and I've heard good things about all of them, I'd go with the Complete Edition.
