Supermassive Games (Until Dawn) has a new horror game series in the works called The Dark Pictures Anthology, which has its first game launching in 2019 called Man of Medan:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJP1H0En_tk

https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/08/21/dig-into-battle-chef-brigade-deluxe-on-ps4-august-28/

Battle Chef Brigade Deluxe is coming to the PS4 next week on 8/28 with a bunch of new features:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ey43fxpgx8

New in Deluxe: Ziggy, the Undead Necromancer
Ziggy is the most mysterious and possibly unsanitary chef in Battle Chef Brigade. He has a lazy streak and relies heavily on his summoned minions. His sous skeletons lead the way, with rolling pins and pans, his imps carry ingredients to the pantry, and his turret-like demons take care of any stragglers. Of course, a good Battle Chef can’t always rely on magical help and, when necessary, Ziggy knows how to take care of business. A few breakdance-style kicks and a spin or two are enough to prep any monster for the kitchen. We had an incredible time designing him and can’t wait for you to slide into battle as Ziggy.

Local Multiplayer Added
In a game centered on intense hunting and cooking duels, multiplayer kicks it up a notch. We drew inspiration from fighting games, brawlers, and our couch-based childhoods to make dueling your friends and enemies perfect. Wait for your opponent to kill the Dragon and then swipe its spicy steak for yourself! There’s a buffet of options and items to choose from, including quite a few new ones for Deluxe, such as Ziggy’s Grill, Bony Tongs, and Carnivorous Expertise.

Side dishes

We’ve added a lot more replayability and polish for Battle Chef Brigade Deluxe. Here are some of the additions:

  • New Survival Mode: A speedy arcade mode where a death in the arena ends your run. Each win lets you pick from an assortment of items as you conquer the leaderboards.
  • New Free Play Mode: Practice hunting in any biome and crafting the 120+ dishes. This is the place to perfect your combos and analyze each ecosystem.
  • New Gallery: As you level up your Brigade Rank with Survival runs and bouts in the updated Daily Cook-Offs, you unlock gorgeous concept art.
  • New maps: Enter the Darkrealm in Daily Cook-Off, Free Play, Survival, and Multiplayer!
  • New Challenges: Ziggy gets his own pair of Break the Dishes stages.
  • Accessibility Improvements: We’ve added color-blind options, updated fragile state art, and let you fast-forward through duel introductions.
  • Thrash Buffs: Everyone’s favorite father of two has a much-improved Counter, better Berserk timer, and speed tweaks.
Devil May Cry 5 will be out 3/8/19:

One Piece World Seeker is an open world action game that's out later this year:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AskARzPaCLc

Trials Rising is out 2/12/19 and the closed beta begins 9/13:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNU81jc_wxs

THQ Nordic is releasing Desperados III in 2019 (strategy game from Shadow Tactics team):

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will be out 12/4:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSz9R4WBOuQ

It's multiplatform. I guess Supermassive wanted to expand their audience / control their own IP, kind of like what Insomniac tried to do with Fuse.
Their partner is Bandai Namco, so I'm guessing its the same financial arrangement as From Software agreed to with Dark Souls, i.e. Bandai Namco will own the Dark Pictures Anthology trademark and Supermassive Games will own the Dark Pictures Anthology IP - meaning neither can be involved without the other's participation.

But in comparison to an Until Dawn 2 deal with Sony, this Bandai Namco relationship will allow for considerably more profit potential for Supermassive Games if this possible trilogy attracts the consumer interest they hope.

Swery's new game is The Missing: J.J. MacField and the Island of Memories and it'll be out sometime soon.

Has anyone heard how long the Spidey game is supposed to be outside of chasing around for collectibles?
I'm hoping the Platinum doesn't take more than 20-30 hours. Probably be spending more than 100 hours on Dragon Quest XI so I don't really want two super long games at the same time especially with everything else that's coming out.

Still can't believe we have a console Dragon Quest coming out in a couple weeks.

Thinking about that it was probably a bad time to get back into WOW. I barely have 4 hours to play in the week. I'm gonna need all that time for dragon quest

Dragon Quest 8 came out with a demo on the disc of FF12. That’s how long it’s been since a console DQ in the West
Ah yes DQVIII I remember playing it on ps2 and making it to the end boss only to get destroyed because I was soo under leveled.I went out and kept fighting the metal slimes since they gave you the most exp and grinded for hours till I beat the game.Overall I enjoyed yangus and the crew and getting the girls va va voom costume.

I'm excited for DQ, but I'm also excited for Spider-Man, red dead, days gone, and plenty more. I've seen people on other forums chomping at the bit for a new generation, but man I could use a few years of no games just to catch up.

I mean, just this morning I went through my physical collection looking for a game to play. Here I am trying to decide between Wolfenstein 2, Fallout 4, Monster Hunter, The Last Guardian, Nioh, Shadow tactics, prey, Mass Effect Andromeda, Wasteland 2, Mafia 3, infinite Warfare, and half a dozen others. Then I've got like 20 games in my priority folder on my PS4, and double that in another to play folder. And another 20 or so Triple A games that I bought digitally on sale, like Assassin's Creed The Evil Within hell-blade, until dawn alien isolation, The Surge, XCOM 2... And another 50 I want to buy. Not to mention games I want to replay, like the remastered red faction Guerrilla and burnout, Uncharted trilogy, and and sleeping dogs. Let's not even talk about PS Plus backlog... People complain when there's bad games one month, and I'm just thankful my backlog didn't get bigger.

Like seriously, I don't need another generation, I just need time. There are plenty of PS4 games I want to play.

I'm on the same boat. Need more time.

Same....been getting too many games and not enough time.

I actually put a ban on me for playing rouge-lite/like games to get through my backlog.

Also helped I've been getting a bit tired of Dead Cells. A bit too much grind for unlocking things, and somewhat samey after a while. I really wish there was some random bosses here and there too for areas....like choosing 1 out 3 bosses randomly. I don't know...it's not a bad game, but maybe not a great one either. Playing on PC, but talking more in general.

I'm sure this has been said and discussed million times in many forums in CAG, but I am at a point where I will never be able to complete all the games I own before the day I die.  And I made peace with that fact myself, and also in a weird way I feel very happy and satisfied - because I feel like I 'made it' as I'm able to buy all these games even when I don't have enough time to play.  I remember when I was young, having my parents buy one game was difficult enough.  It was a luxury, it was a privilege.  Many of the games sucked, they never got patched, we had no internet reviews, forums, and the consoles and high-end PCs were for 'rich' kids.  Now I am all grown up, I have a job myself, and I am able to stockpile my backlog.  We all made it guys.  We all made it.  We now have shiny high-tech consoles and fast PCs, along with countless physical discs, digital downloads, and limited edition goodies that remind us how we could not afford them back in the day.  And the graphics - oh man, the graphics - keep getting better and we cannot wait how games will look on the day we die.  That should be the way we should look at our backlog problem...  lol

I remember hearing stories of crazy people being buried in their Corvettes. That's us with our backlogs...

Man gotta say Dead Cells is one of the most polished games I’ve ever played. Super user friendly despite the difficulty, and it’s just so easy to pick up for just one run or play for hours. Good stuff

This is exactly why I feel depressed all the time. And I'm fuckin' racing through my backlog, man. To the point where some days it feels like I'm not even enjoying the games I play. And I wonder what's the point of anything I'm doing. And then it dawns on me that I'm just trying to outrun the grim reaper because I feel death breathing down the back of my neck. And it's fucking stressful. I'm not even just talking about games, it's more a metaphor for everything that feels unfinished in my life. And in addition to all the games you've mentioned (which I haven't played), I've also got at least 200 indie titles in my folder right now. And more games on my wishlist I haven't even bought yet. And future releases on their way. So yeah, it would be great if they took a break from releasing games, movies, TV shows, etc. for a little while as we all desperately struggle to catch up. But of course someone would always complain. It's literally impossible to keep up with everything and that's what I'm trying to come to terms with on a daily basis.

(P.S. Don't even get me started on the money issue...)

I hear this a lot.
Obviously, this isn't the forum for this and surely not the first time you've heard it or it's dawned on you, but if you're looking to media and entertainment for fulfillment in life, you're never going to find happiness or satisfaction and it will always feel empty. It's sounds like you're trying to fill a hole that needs something more substantial like hard liquor and narcotics.

So there was an update to the 6.0 firmware beta yesterday. Anyone know if they added any actual visible effects, or is it still just a "stability update"?

You sound like you just need to get laid. You’ll be fine, relax man.

Is it stubbornness or hope that's made me hold off on making purchases in hopes of there being a miracle 20% off code soon? I'm gonna say stubborn. But to be fair, I'm still a bit on the fence for Uncharted Lost Legacy and Rise of the Tomb Raider. I feel like they're both bound to go lower than that, and Uncharted Lost Legacy's length kinda turns me off from it even knowing it will be good just because it's Uncharted.

I guess being so indecisive is what has kept me from building a gigantic backlog like some of you have, but it still sucks not being able to make up my mind.

I almost regret buying Dragon Age Inquisition GOTY when it was in a flash sale recently just because I am not in the mood to play it no matter how I try to force myself to be. I like the game, I just forgot how much filler there is. So that DLC will definitely be in the backlog for later.  :-({|=

Did people not play Rogue Legacy or something? Dead Cells is almost identical.
The combat in dead cells feels so much faster and smoother. I like them both and in fact I find myself drawn to lots of rogue likes but dead cells is something special...

I don't know, I feel like it's not much faster. It is a lot more varied due to the different kinds of weapons and secondary weapons, but I feel like it's only a short step up from Rogue Legacy.

Depends on if you're doing shield parries the whole time or not. I think the major difference for me is that the combat has much more punch and is satisfyingly fluid. Rogue Legacy was cool but lacked variety. Which I will say is greatly diminished at end game in Dead Cells.

The combat and movement combine to make Dead Cells just a sublime experience to me. It does feel like it's limited in viable builds though as I haven't been unlocked many weapons to keep the Ice Bow and Crossbow Turrets showing up frequently. The final boss is also a HUGE jump in difficulty from the rest of the game no matter your build in my opinion but I would say that Dead Cells is my GOTY up to this point.

First of all, you're supposed to have quit gaming for a year to try to get some stability back to your life. Second, don't think of backlog as work, think of it as opportunity. Don't turn Leisure Time into work.

Don't get me wrong, I think we're all a little bit overwhelmed by back log. There are so many shows I I want to watch , then the movies, Vita, PS4, PS3, PS 1, 3 DS, steam, gog.

But that just means there's always something to chill out with. Come to terms with the fact you will never finish it all. Come to terms with the fact that you'll never read all the books you want to read. It helps if those things are secondary in your life not primary.

This.

Gaming (or any entertainment) is just a past time, don't let it consume you.

Now excuse me, it's 7pm and I have a full bottle of Four Roses that needs to be empty..

j/k. (it's half empty already)

that's good to know and reaffirm that it was a good decision to buy the game. just literally picked up the ns version at gamestop now and will be playing it on a 20 flight abroad....
