I would add Bastion as excellent since you didn't.   It's a gem, maybe not hidden but I only learned of it after playing Transistor

I'll also chime in for Letter Quest Remastered.  It's like a Boggle RPG where you have to spell words to defeat the monsters in your path.

Not for everyone but it's cute, the monsters have different requirements and rules to beat them and there's not a lot of word games available on PS4/Vita.

I really enjoyed Letter Quest Remastered got all the achievements on XBox.

Do the King Of Fighters Collections currently on sale (Orochi Saga and KOF 98 Ultimate Match) have any input lag issues we should be aware of? I do recall that the Metal Slug PS2 -> PS4 conversions had horrible input lag that made the budget MS collections unplayable...
There is. It's similar to the Capcom vs SNK 2 digital release on the PS3. You can really feel the delay with heavy attacks.

Though I only checked King of Fighters 98 in the collection. I have the XBLA release of that game, so I was able to check for differences. I would think all the games in the collection suffer the same delay. I don't know. After seeing the delay in 98 I haven't bothered going back to the game.

I wonder if the Ultimate Match release on PS4 is okay? Maybe it's the emulation of an old console release that is causing the problem. Capcom vs SNK 2 on PS3 was an emulated PS2 release. But then I'm not even sure if Ultimate Match isn't a "PS2 on PS4" game.

Somebody asked me about Battlezone VR without VR.  Not surprisingly, it's less immersive.

The cockpit window and structure takes up more of the screen real estate and when I tilt the turret to point up, part of my HUD scrolls off the screen (preventing me from seeing the bottom of my list of weapons).

It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination and maybe there's a setting to play in non-VR mode but I only had a few minutes to check it out.

The game is still good and if that was the way it was designed, it's not a deal breaker.  It's just better in VR.  In VR, I feel like I'm in a tank.  Non-VR is more like third person (but I see that I'm still inside the tank)

Is God of War Ascension worth taking a chance on for $1.49? I'm interested in picking it up, just want to know what others think.

Definitely going to get Shadow of the Colossus, Pool Nation (PS3), and some Just Cause 3 DLC.

If you liked Letter Quest Remastered, I'd recommend Spellspire from 10tons (Crimsonland, Tesla vs Lovecraft, etc) that is similar, but the letters don't change out when used. You're trying to get up the spire to the top by beating each level with the money earned letting you buy new equipment, upgrading them, and getting more powerful over time as you get better.

I liked it a lot, as it has better combat and some cool sequences in it that are worth checking out. I'd at least put it above Chains of Olympus in the series.

How would any AAA game not be worth $1.49? If you have even a little bit of interest in it, just buy it. It'll take you more time to look up reviews or read comments about it. And if you know anyone else who will get it, you can play online together - a series first.

Wth it says week one but it also says it ends Jan 15. So more would be added right, I'm thinking about waiting some more just in case we get a 20% code.

Any possibility Spider-Man gets a GOTY edition? I’m tempted at the current GCU price and really want to play it but the backlog right now is strong. Trying to get through Smash and RDR2 currently and have Assassins Creed Odyssey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Dragon Quest XI waiting in the wings.
Not sure about a GOTY edition, but I think it'll probably get some kind of complete version next year.

I played it slowly on and off since release, exclusively using free redbox game nights and just recently plat'd it. Definitely had a blast with it, but since you mentioned already having those other games lined up, I'd say you might as well wait a bit longer.

If you decide not to wait, have you checked FB marketplace, CL, or any other local sale sites? Because it was bundled, there's got to be someone willing to let it go for cheaper than $40/32 gcu +tax.

Some good ones I found:

Lovely Planet $0.49 *glitched trophy makes the plat unobtainable

The Final Station $1.49

Dark Rose Valkyrie $5.99

Deiland $5.99

Along Together $7.49

Mary Skelter: Nightmares $7.99

What is the consensus on Forgotton Anne? And what is with the misspelling of the word forgotten.

Thanks for the recommendation Frisky. I would've never seen it in the list of 1250 games. And it's on Vita too!

The only thing I associate 10tons with is Balls to the Face.

The entire sale is five weeks long, ending on January 15th, but each item is different. They can individually end any time between now and January 15th.  You have to click into the item to see when that specific one ends.  For example, most I've looked at do say January 15th. But the Street Fighter 5 Season Pass 3, for example, ends on Christmas.

Wth it says week one but it also says it ends Jan 15. So more would be added right, I'm thinking about waiting some more just in case we get a 20% code.
The sale itself ends on 1/15/19 after five weeks along with the vast majority of the games, but the first week ends on 12/18. More stuff will be added every week, but probably not anywhere close to 1200 items.

All the games I'm interested in will be on sale until January 15. I could hold off purchasing them just in case there is a discount code, but I was really hoping for a code today so I could buy the Soul Calibur VI season pass in time for 2B's release next week. Now I have to consider waiting possibly four weeks to play as her so I can maybe save $6.00.

Thanks Frisky, whitereflection, and Omni99 for sharing your thoughts on GoW: Ascension. Definitely going to grab it, I really would be a fool to pass on it for $1.49.

"Developers at Supermassive Games who hail from England have released a brand new game out of nowhere it seems, which they kept quite cloak and dagger about until now. The busy bees who are already putting together Man of Medan have added yet another title to their list. Shattered State is a narrative driven and political thriller in VR form for Google’s Daydream platform, so anyone with a compatible phone or headset can give it a bash today."

I really hope it will eventually find its way to PSVR. Supermassive always delivers.

Frisky, huge appreciation for all the work you put into making this sale digestible.

I'd love any recommendations of couch co-op gems from this list, specifically to play with my pre-teen daughter. Some of our favorites are Puyo Puyo Tetris, LBP3, Overcooked, and the Lego games are ok in small doses too.

What's the difference between the Overcooked Gourmet Edition and the Holiday Bundle? Each includes the base game and different dlc for $4.99? Is one preferred over the other?

Also, anyone have thoughts on Mantis Burn Racing?

Edit: Nevermind. The Holiday Bundle apparently is the Gourmet Edition with an extra dlc pack. Guess I'll be grabbing that one. Correct me if I'm wrong though...

Realm Royale finally came to the PS4 a few days ago.  Played several matches arleady, it is pretty fun as I thought it would be.  It is in closed beta, I have an extra code... if anyone is interested PM me.

I've been eyeing it since the release date. It seems like something I'd enjoy, but I've been waiting for it to drop even lower (or at least supplement it with a 20% off code). The typo has bothered me from the beginning. Here's what the devs had to say:

Push Square: One of the points that always seems to come up whenever we write about the title on Push Square is the spelling. Could you tell us the thought process behind the word 'Forgotton'?

Alfred Nguyen: Haha, yes – we’ve been a bit stubborn in insisting this way of spelling despite PR people advising against it.

Valdemar Schultz Andreasen: I think the PR team foresaw that we would have to answer this question a couple of times! Haha!

Alfred: There is no single reason, but it started with the intuitive desire to have the title stand out and be playful since the game takes place in this fantastical imaginary world. Language in general is very fluid and keeps evolving, so in keeping with the premise of the game, we imagine it as a forgotten way of spelling the word. The ‘O’ being a circle which is emphasized in the logo also has strong connections to both a theme in the game and the aesthetics. You’ll notice Anne is sleeping in a round bed and the magical Arca she is wearing is round and so on.

Sorry I was busy working and running a 5K for charity so I'm late to respond.

This is the exact reason I got Lawbreakers from LRG. Now I can just pop the disc in and play any time I want. LRG truly is the saviour of the gaming industry when it comes to things like this. I'm so glad they're able to preserve classic games that the future generations wouldn't be able to enjoy if they're delisted.
I'm trying to decide if this post is sarcastic or genuine.

I watched some videos and it has a Studio Ghibli vibe to it. I like most of the films from Studio Ghibli so would probably enjoy it or at least the aesthetic. But will wait to see if I receive a 20% coupon from Sony first. Not sure I wanted to spend $13.99 on it.

Holy crap Frisky   End of year is always a big sale, but this is a monster.

Thanks for putting those lists together!   Definitely easier to scroll through them here than on the console.

On the fence about Grand Theft Auto V. I had it on previous gen and not sure I want to get it for current gen. Also, I've heard enough about the online that I might not want to venture there at all. A couple of the bundles seem to be the same price as the base game, however (14.99). Not sure which of them would be better (the one with the shark card or the one with the Premium Online Edition but no shark card). Any advice from the PS4 GTA vets?

If you are not going to bother with GTA Online, just get the Base Game. The Premium Online Edition just gives you items for online and nothing else. Grand Theft Auto V never received Single Player DLC, which sucks because SP DLC was the reason why I got Grand Theft Auto V for the PS4 to begin with. Prepare for a massive patch since RockStar has been updating the game for years of free updates that expands the GTA Online experience.

Anyone have thoughts on the couch co-op of:

Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate
Couch co-op is good in PJ Shooter...but I find I start screaming at the other person such as, WATCH WHERE YOU'RE MAKING THAT LAVA GO!!!!! If you talk a lot during it, you feel like you're really making complex strategy (that you could do in your head by yourself). I like that.

Good times. It's also great if you have younger kids to help them puzzle out the best way to save the people without trapping/killing them with earlier decisions.

Yooka-Laylee worth $10 bones, what say you and by you I mean those who actually played it?
It'd definitely worth it if you have Banjo-Kazooie nostalgia. Maybe not otherwise.

I personally bought it for pc / steam as part of a $6 bundle, so if pc is an option I'd look there.

How would any AAA game not be worth $1.49? If you have even a little bit of interest in it, just buy it. It'll take you more time to look up reviews or read comments about it. And if you know anyone else who will get it, you can play online together - a series first.
I disagree. While $1.49 is a great price, I decided to pass because the digital version of the game is huge. Unless you have the space to install it, I would wait to find the disc version for a reasonable price.

Deaths gambit, prye, battle chef brigade for me. Thinking about burnout cause I wanna play a racing game, its been so long but Im fed up with remasters spent to much time on them. Dirt isn't arcade style with other cars from the looks of it. Anyways did we get a 20% off code last year, I'm still thinking of holding off til the end.
