Got a pop up in the PS App on iOS stating that they're going to be sending promos in notifications now. Not quite sure the extent of it since the wording was quite vague.

I never get any notifications from the app. I forgot I even had it installed. Lol

I have been a Sony fanboy all my life and I always will be, but I must agree with a lot of us here that Sony is not looking very nice these days. Value-wise Microsoft is killing Sony from every angle, as Xbox supports Game Pass, Backwards Compatibility, better hardware with more frequent deals, better rewards system, cross-play with Nintendo and PC, Play Anywhere initiative giving Xbox+PC copies of digital purchases, controllers for handicapped players, and so on. PlayStation has been less 'consumer-friendly' than Xbox in many respects, and cannot compete with Xbox in terms of 'value' proposition at the moment. Some Sony fanboys might deny this, but imagine we get God of War and Spider Man games day one for free if you are a Playstation Now subscriber. Can you imagine that happening? Of course not. And that is what Microsoft is providing (although you can argue that they don't have God of War quality exclusives). So this 2-game-only PS Plus is in fact a pain to us CAGs, because it adds insult to injury.

I am very excited to see how this competition will play out in the next generation war between PS5 and new Xbox's. I hope and predict that, once PS5 is out, we will probably get 2 PS5 games and 2 PS4 games for PS Plus, then we will be happier. But until then I will be sad holding my Vita.
i have both consoles, i still think PS4 is superior in every way and Microsoft and those features only exist because they are in desperate catch up mode

game pass - a bunch of games i already played or have no interest in playing even for free, other than Forza Horizon those games aren't worth playing if you ask me, i did the free trial and saw no reason to renew

no way should top notch games like Spider Man and God of War be given away for free, game pass has exclusives like Super Lucky's Tail and Crackdown 3, the best things in life are NOT free

backwards compatibility - my opinion is the same as game pass a bunch of games i already played or don't want to play, it's a nice feature to have and hope PS5 has it, but why do you want to play last gen games at this point? i'd rather have quality exclusives which xbox lacks

the sales prices are normally better on PSN for multi platform games, and don't forget games with gold only exists because of PS Plus

don't really care about cross play with PC or Nintendo, again those are moves just made out of desperation, Sony will do similar things if they lose next gen and then Microsoft will be the cocky ones

all i care about is the quality of games, Xbox has done nothing but disappoint me this gen

This is nonsense. Game Pass has Master Chief Collection.

I just got an Xbox One X and I'm absolutely LOVING Game Pass. Just beat Quantum Break on Sunday (loved it up until the final "boss fight"), playing Gears 4 right now, and trying to decide if I want to play Sunset Overdrive or Below next. It's a bit overwhelming having access to so many games. I'm feeling a bit spoiled with all that I have access to. Plus it was only $2 for two months!

Also has Forza Horizon 4, Hellblade, Shadow of the Tomb Raider (only 4 months after release) and Ori and the Blind Forest. Really crappy games there.

never liked Halo and again those are all old games

Quantum Break is one of the most disappointing games i've ever played, I loved Alan Wake

Gears 4 was more of the same of what we got in 2008, Sunset Overdrive was also disappointing, no interest in Below

i mentioned Forza

played Hellblade more than a year before it was on game pass

Shadow of the Tomb Raider was disappointing to most people

Ori is what 2 years old? 3 years old?

thanks for proving my point

For people that don’t buy everything under existence, it’s an incredible value. Plenty of games to love on the service.

Same with backwards compatibility. Tons of people love to play games that they never got to play on 360. Or play their favorites again.

Both of these programs are extremely popular and would be if Sony had them as well. But whatever, your point may be valid for you but not for most other people.

I love my PS4 for exclusives but love the way MS has done so much else that is pro-consumer. Even crossplay is a bigger priority and should be for Sony as well but it’s not. Sony has gotten arrogant. Just because you have the lead doesn’t mean gamers stop caring about certain features.

that's true but i'm pretty sure you buy more games than me, so is it really good value for you?

Yes, it is. Plenty of games I don’t own on it. And since I paid less than the cost of Forza Horizon 4 for an entire year of games, absolutely is a very good value for me.

not a good value if it prevents you from finishing the backlog of games you already bought

you should practice what you preach in your own sig
How am I not? I am fine with you thinking game pass isn't a good deal for you. You are the one stating no one else should have the opinion that it is a good deal for them. I am down with different strokes for different folks, man.

i just stated my opinion, you seemed upset over it thinking i'm some guy that is public enemy number 1 in the xbox thread

I'm just mad that I used to get more stuff and now I get less.

Honestly, I would "purchase" the PS3 and Vita games every month but only rarely would ever play a game I got on the Vita and never on the PS3.

I want to say that the value of the PS+ is less and now that I think about it, it is less. Sure, I got 2 games Vita games that I didn't play but one of them was cross-buy and so I really got 3 (or more) PS4 games and I would sometimes play them on the PS4.

Sony easily could have not removed the extra games or could have given us something else in addition to the 2 PS4 games we already would have gotten.
I'm starting to think that this move was an alternative to raising the price for PS+. Just by giving us less instead. I'm not sure when was the last time they raised the price for annual subs, but I can't imagine any of us would have been happy with that either (except those who stocked up when it was cheaper). They definitely should have replaced the loss with something, though; I never really played the PS3 or Vita games, but I always jumped on the crossbuys (and even played one occasionally). Some discount codes would have cushioned the blow, or like others have pointed out, pushing PSVR games would have been great support for the medium. But I guess we're making too much sense from a financial point of view.

Why Barry, are you desperately seeking a fight?, even when there isn't one?

Bored? Play one of those awesome videogames you mentioned previously.
Hobby? More power to you, chug along.

The more i think about it, if Xbox 2 has superior hardware over the PS5 and if the Xbox gets the same Japanese games that PC gets like Yakuza, Tales, etc. then I could very well see myself shifting back over to Microsoft.

Sony is pissing me off with the censorship nonsense which hasn't effected a game I play yet, but it is only a matter of time I'm sure.  The stubbornness to allow cross play also doesn't directly effect me, but I don't like anti consumer practices no matter if they do or don't effect me.  Killing the trophy rewards has really pissed me off.  I know no one else offers this, but their purchase rewards are way lower than the competition so having these offset the difference.  Killing the value of PS+ also pisses me off, acting like bumping our save storage to a level it should have been somehow makes up for taking away 66% of the free offerings a month is just ludicrous.  Then there was denying EA the ability to put EA Access on their ecosystem.  PS Now taking forever to adapt to Gamepass and still hasn't matched it.  And when is the last time we saw a 20% off coupon or a free $10 psn credit?  Those use to come about every quarter.  Kaz and House leaving has really hurt the company.

I dont give a fuck about who wins, neither company pays for my bills; instead, they actually add to it.

From what I can see, no one got upset, except you - and you seem to he upset that no one got upset.

Anyways, if it helps you, we call say "XBox Sucks" together.

Everybody, repeat after me:
XBox Sucks - and not really well at that either. fuck XBox and fuck MS. Playstation for life!!!

When a dedicated PlayStation thread is siding with Microsoft it is quite telling how people feel about Sony at the moment which does not bode well for the upcoming launch of new hardware. When the PS4 launched Sony was riding high sentiment in services like PS+ and not charging for online plus had just released 3 to 4 years of insanely good exclusives at an insane clip including an end of gen release in the Last of Us

It now feels like the mind share has shifted to where Microsoft is riding the high sentiment and getting praise for services like gamepass, backward compatibility, etc plus making major investment in first party development to bolster their exclusive output. All I can say is Sony better watch out or they might find themselves in a real battle next gen.

Yep complacency definitely seems to bring out their stupid sides.  Sony was doing so well with the ps4 too.  Judging by all the positive feelings people have for nintendo and ms right now things are not looking good.

PS4 always charged for online

i'll believe it when i see it next gen regarding xbox overtaking playstation

PS4 has been dominating sales since the beginning that's the only "mind share" that matters not forum talk

what major first party developers did they acquire that already produced big selling games?

I never said PS4 didn't charge for online, I said going into the launch.

I also never said Microsoft would overtake Sony, just that it might be a much closer fight like last gen than the blowout this gen is.

Mind share is what put the PlayStation in the drivers seat early, it is now just riding that momentum and it most certainly starts with the hardcore who buy it at launch.

Buying numerous studios is tangible evidence that Microsoft are committed to exclusive content unlike having Spencer making empty promises over and over again. Obviously we don't know what it will look like when it happens but it is still a good sign for them. Meanwhile Sony has closed numerous studios throughout this gen. Point is, Sony is not riding the wave they were when they launched the PS4 and you can be damn sure Microsoft will have their messaging down pat this time so no gift for Sony this time.

Lol Sony giving away PS5 games is funny. I could even see the opposite occurring and them having 1 PS4 game a month. I've always looked at the PS+ games as extras and in rare cases games I actually wanted like Rocket League.
Why wouldn't they? The hype for launch ps4 ps+ games like resogun is part of building the hype for people to buy the console at launch.

Strange how before this gen started, most people felt the complete opposite. Microsoft started the gen trying to force us into an all-digital and not being able to trade discs , DRM etc

Sony has once again grown fat and arrogant, just as they did right after the success of the PS2.

Eh, most people are firmly in one camp or the other. Barring a major f up like Xbox made last-gen, most people are not going to switch brands. Any difference in mind share you're seeing is most likely just based on the sites you're going to.

No. MS is doing everything it cant to just stay relevant atm. I dont have hardware sales pulled up or know them off hand but I wouldnt be surprised if PS4 to Xbone sales is something like 3:1. Almost literally nothing has come out on Xbox that anyone wants to play, they have like no exclusives, and even multi platform have no exclusives deals (COD maps months before etc).

MS wants Xbox to be a platform not a console now. That's how they are pushing now. Trying to get in on the Switch, building Xbone/Xbox support into Windows. As for the gamepass and backwards compatibility? Microsoft doesnt have anything to bring people in so its releasing its 360 library again just so people have semi-exclusive games to play. Gamestop was giving away Xbox360s for free (After refund) and didnt sell out (atleast I didnt see anyone saying they had issues YMMV here). While many people still buy and own PS3s so we can have our libraries there.

Atm its a race between PS4/Switch/PC, Xbox is kind of just there.

IMHO I dont like this. We see what happens when Sony is in the lead. PS1 did ok, PS2 was the great system of its time. Sony with a big head figured it could do no wrong and PS3 came out, it was over priced, under performed and they had to suck it up and fix it. They gave free online play, a plus premium with free games every month, etc. Towards the end it had gotten back on its feet. While the Xbox ruled most of that gen. (Wii not withstanding because casuals/family).

Going forward, if one had to speculate, PS5 is going to dominate, and while the PS fanboys will rejoice in the end no direct hardware competition is going to lead to stagnation and Sony doing a Sony knows best head again (Maybe they've learned IDK). Lots of things are changing too. Bandwidth is getting cheaper most places, so streaming and cloud gaming is almost feasible. AMD Ryzen 2 with mid tier on chip APUs that can do 1080/1440p (rumored)without discrete graphics and affordable prices could be HUGE.

I mean an AMD Ryzen 2400G can do competent 720p gaming (Basically last console gen power) on chip and that's a 150ish dollar chip?

But moving on, XboxOne getting praised for backwards/game passes now is like praising a worker who sat around for the first 6 hours of his shift and finally in the last 2 hours started working. The people praising it are those who owned the console and are finally getting some games to play even if they are last gen. Sony has been kind of doing the same thing but instead of backwards compatibility they have been selling Remasters and HD upgrades and reselling what we've already played bought, which shows you just how far they are ahead.

Honestly I wonder if this will even happen. They don't seem to be making much of an effort to get a lot of those games onto xbox. Granted it could just be that they've given up on this gen and will actually try next time around, but, yeah. In general the thing that makes PS4 so much better for me is that they get all the mid-tier Japanese games which is a large chunk of what I play in general.

Yeah, when I said that I said it with a big "if." I don't see it happening and therefor I don't see me going full Xbox anytime soon. My point was if Microsoft did made the right moves it could happen, but I don't see it at this point. For all we know Sony might blow us away with the new hardware and that would eliminate one of my "if's" right there. Speaking of hardware, I hope they go with vapor chamber cooling and a silent fan, my Pro was screaming when I was playing Spider-man.

The most recent PS4 Pro (the one I received w/ RDR2 included - model number CUH-7200) is very silent (I have two of them). Zero fan noise issues when playing Spider-man (and my household plays a lot of Spider-man). I would recommend trading in/ selling the one you have for the most recent model.

Off topic but Anthem is already down to 51 on Amazon. I got it for 30 after some prime/courtesy credit :)
though not on the PS4 I've seen it not move at the 40 dollar price mark... I would have suggest waiting for a better price.

I suspect you'll see a big drop next week after the Division Public beta is out and played.

Does anyone else read only the first few sentences of the paragraphs people post or none at all?

Just skipping all your nonsense opinions and predictions.
A single paragraph....I read the first line.

A well thought out multiple paragraph reply......I skip that (unless it has a lot of likes because it can be a crazy rant).

A bunch of short lines like this.....I often read that.....

Especially if there is a space between each of the major thoughts.
