Persona 5 is great and requires no previous knowledge of past games. I just picked it up within the last month or so and have clocked in over 100 hours. It’s long. I probably have 10 more hours left if I understand the way the calendar works in the game. I have throughly enjoyed but I’m ready to be done with it.
The main problem with P5 to me was that it is just too long. At the 50 hour mark I was still enjoying it but that enjoyment started to fade the longer the game went. I ended up putting over 100 hours into it but still need to finish off the final boss someday.

Exactly. I tuned out 30hrs in. I'm realizing that games over 20hrs just aren't my thing anymore. Would rather spend time with my kids and wife at this point of my life.

Not me. I’d rather spend time with Joker and the Phantom Thieves. Kids are so high maintenance and I know baby girl will be there when my time at Shujin Academy is over. Coitus-shmoytus.

must have young kids, your gaming time will tick up when they hit their teens and want nothing to do with you.

I was able to beat P5 without affecting my family (2 kids below 5 years old and a wife) by playing 4-5 hours a week. Took me about 6 months, but I did it and enjoyed it immensely.

I don't think new game + is in the cards for me; but it inspired me to play P4, and I'll probably play P3 after. I am having a hard time deciding it mobility (Vita) or better game play (PS3) is best for P3. P4 being on Vita has helped get through it more quickly.

P3P makes several quality of life adjustments that are worth the missing animations, particularly for someone with limited gaming time.

Dont know where you are getting your info from but there will be no Kiwami 3 the creator of Yakuza said 3, 4, and 5 will be Remasters.

potato, potahto. I haven't followed the news surrounding the games for a while so my knowledge of what's going on there is dated. either way, they're releasing and updating the game for current gen regardless

I loved P5, but after getting the platinum I want nothing more to do with it.
I can only imagine. I’m not sure if I have a second play through in me. Did you have to use a guide to max out your confidants? I’m going through my first run without a guide but it is November and I just got the arcade kid confidant and so I highly doubt I can max out all of them at this point.

If you want to max all of them on your first play through you pretty much have to use a guide tbh. On NG+ though you can just do whatever since your stats carry over. Not using a guide I actually maxed every social link and still had like a month and change of time left because of how much easier it is on the second go.

I got the Nioh 2 alpha too. I have Nioh in my backlog, but just recently got the platinum for Sekiro. So maybe they think I “got gud”. Jokes on them though, I’m not good at those games, just persistent.
Just an FYI to anyone that got into the Nioh 2 Alpha, remember it ends on June 2nd, so just a few more days left so don't backlog it if you have interest. It is good (if you liked the first one), although at least at this point the amount of new stuff is fairly limited. It's only two missions (and a Twilight of one of them), with two bosses total (some mini bosses though) so you can go through it pretty quickly if you are decent at it. And even if you aren't, there is a healthy number of people playing to summon to help you get through tough spots and see the highlights and get some gear upgrades. I got up to mid level 40s and did a lot of joining others to help out, and many others are as well. If you want challenge, don't summon though because people at that level will pretty much just mulch the level for you. You will have to go through most of the first level before you can get some cups to summon people.

There are some bugs, like the Twilight mission boss going basically inactive when you have summons frequently making him a punching bag that seems to de-sync (people were still hitting him after I saw him dead). The levels are very reminiscent of the first game and only the snake boss is somewhat "different", but it has hitbox issues. There is one new weapon type (hatchets) and a few of the old ones have been removed (tonfa, dual sword, axes). The Yokai Shift (the new Living Weapon) also varies depending on your Guardian Spirit and the cores you get can customize your Guardian Spirit and give you a few new moves. There are also NPC summons in addition to revenants to fight now, but they are mostly just enemy distractions and don't play really smart or do much damage. The skill tree is mostly the same but is a better interface, the gear has some new affixes and most of the old ones (some with new names, but same functionality) and a new corrupted/purified weapon tag that is pretty mediocre at this point. You also get character customization including gender, but you can only select some presets for now.

I'm hoping they are just holding back on the really interesting new stuff at this point, because the current impression is that this is just Nioh 1.5.

I was looking to buy Stardew Valley and checked historical sale prices. One time it’s been on sale?? $15 full price isn’t bad, but I was surprised it really never goes on sale.

Stardew is an amazing game, does not have to go on sale to sale copies.  One of few games i have bought at full price and have never regretted it.

Finally not a bad lineup, although the Presequel is the weakest of all of them. At least Sony didn't split it and give only BL2 or BL:TPS. Sonic Mania is a good choice too. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Perfect! If Playstation Hits games will be on sale this will be my chance to dip my toes into the worlds of both Persona 5 and Yakuza!

Thank you to everyone who gave me any input on those two series' yesterday. I very much appreciate it. Sounds like Persona is right up my alley, and if I'm understanding right I want to start with Yakuza Kiwami if for no other reason than the change in controls/flow of gameplay and to learn the charm of characters and such?

Finally my cheapness pays off; I’ve held off on buying both of these. It’s a good business strategy for boosting sales on Borderlands 1, 2 VR and 3. Sonic Mania is a title I’ll actually try out. Maybe they’re finally paying attention to our complaints...?

Death Stranding seems like a no-brainer. I hope we see some 20% off deals at Walmart or elsewhere closer to the release date.

Death Stranding gameplay looks like shit. How is that already coming out in November? Looks like it needs a lot more dev time. Cutscenes and character design all look incredible, but the parts where you're actually in control seem awful.

I can’t tell what’s happening in the trailer. Hopefully it comes together as a cohesive package.

Yeah, some things are better off left to the imagination. Based on the original teaser from 2016, I always thought the whole game took place on a beach.

Metal Gear is my favorite game series. It's the only series that I buy collectors editions of really. Even with my fandom, I'm just not sold on Death Stranding yet. I'm still like...it LOOKS nice, but what are you going to DO? Hopefully we'll see more gameplay before Nov 8th.
Exactly. Everyone saying it's awesome but can't articulate why. lol

I currently have ZERO interest in playing this game. I don’t get the hype. This trailer is a mess.

Didn’t you see that sweet ladder building? Then you get to climb it! And when you’re at the top you can rappel from the cliff INSTEAD of using the ladder!? AAA gameplay if you ask me.

I heard that MLB 19 The Show will be $20 next week. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?
Pretty sure there's no way that's happening. It's part of the Days of Play sale and they mention some games (GoW, Spider-Man, The Show, Days Gone, etc.) with the wording "starting at $19.99". I would guess it will be $40.

There's a whole thread on here making fun of all the speculation since the thread title is incredibly misleading.
