I'm so happy FF8 remaster is actually happening!

FF7R looks incredible and I can't wait to play it.

Also it's really cool to see so many games coming to the west for the first time getting remastered. Square Enix's was a great conference for RPG lovers.

They should just go ahead and give FF7R a Midgar subtitle to end the confusion.  The level of polish and spectacle that's being shown so far for just the early game scenes indicates it's unlikely FF7R will go much beyond Midgar.  Open world can be saved for the 2nd part on next gen systems.

 
So far square Enix has won E3 IMO. Microsoft was good but too many CGI trailers, could have had a slam dunk but just missed

The amount of JRPGs shown was insane

I think Microsoft was very average especially considering they had a real opportunity to capitalize on the Sony absence. I do agree that Square Enix has arguably the best lineup of games releasing, but depending on Nintendo, this has been a pretty forgettable E3. Devolver Digital's direct deserves a mention though, I thought it was hilarious.

I would guess we aren’t getting open world at all. It would not surprise if this ends up being like the last half of Final Fantasy XV, jumping from scene to scene, place to place.

Emphasis on “remake” - they aren't going 1:1. I could see this being an Uncharted or Last of Us cinematic retelling of FFVII

Yeah, i missed out too.

I kind of miss the days when all sales were tuesday to tuesday and flash sales were 90% predictable based on time of month + holiday influence.

Now i sometimes miss buying standard Tuesday to tuesday sales thinking they're part of other sale.

I thought it was. Adds a side story and gives an opportunity to complete all your gadgets/suits/etc. Plus it's pretty much required if you're a trophy hunter or perfectionist.  It has a lot tougher enemies, though.

 
Can anyone explain the difference between the Final Fantasy XV Royal Pack and the season pass?  I bought the disc a few months back and haven't delved into it, so I'm wondering if I shouldn't play the vanilla game and then wait to buy any DLC to see if I'm going to like it.

The season pass has the episodes in it and the royal pack has the new stuff added to the Royal Edition.

Thanks, Frisky. I might wait on both. With the exception of mobile Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy titles, Square-Enix games and DLC tend to go on sale regularly. The funny thing is that the pre-owned copy of FF XV that I got at GameStop was the Royal Edition, not the regular one, but I need to see if the code in the box was claimed. The associate didn't know the difference, and to tell the truth, I didn't bring it to his attention.

This wasn't a mistake, GS has no distinction among its used FFXV copies so you will occasionally find Deluxe and Royal editions in the preowned stock. Also note that the code inside the royal edition also includes the episodes.

Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter is actually quite fun.  Was able to play 3 or 4 matches yesterday after downloading the trial. I didn't notice any lag which I was shocked by. 

I don't think I would buy the game though.  Will wait to see how game is this fall after they add human NPCs and story.

 
Some questions:

1: is watchdogs 2 any good? Do i need to play the first? I started playing the first but got bored with the odd side challenges, like hopping on mushrooms... im willing to give the entire series another chance, if its worth it?

2: spiderman dlc? Worth it?

3: has anyone played stellaris?

4: i loved just cause 3. Should i get 4 standard or 4 complete?

5: im currently replaying ghost recon wildlands because i loved it. There doesnt seem to be any way to buy the mission dlc on sale, does there?

6: is dragon quest heroes 2 a significant improvement? I wanted to love the first and put a significant number of hours into ir, but was ultimately burned out because of material gathering and tower defends missions not being quite strategic enough.

7: is ufc 3 any good?

8: is superhot good without vr?
 
Watch Dogs 2 is great and doesn't require any time with the first game. It's a more playful and fun version of that idea that is really well done.

Don't get Just Cause 4. It's nothing like Just Cause 2 or 3.

Superhot and Superhot VR are two different games and both are amazing in their own ways. It's highly recommended.

Unless it somehow completely changes after the first seven or eight hours, it's all about territory control now with little to none of the sandbox, village-liberating checklist elements of Just Cause 2 and 3.

I enjoyed the Spider Man dlc but I'm a fan. Second dlc is the worst but they're all good. Can be done in about 2-3 hours for each depending on how much of a perfectionist you want to be. $10 is a good price

Need some deal advice. I got ahold of a lot of credit recently. Does Sony still do the whole spend $100, get $15 back promos or are those pretty much dead? Do they apply to preorders? Should I just preorder stuff or wait? I'm getting Death Stranding among other things.

I'm not saying it's rational, but it feels good to have games preordered that I know I'm going to enjoy. I think I'd only hold back if there's a good chance that I'll be missing out on a promo or something that would save me money.

I am 100% going to preorder Death Stranding and FF7 Remake, no matter what.

 
I think those get some money back orders are pretty much dead. Sony hasn't been super generous in special offers for a while now. No 20% off and such.

If you actually want to experience them properly, get them on PS4. Better graphics + 60 FPS option is a no brainer.

Uncharted 2 and 3 remasters don't have multiplayer modes, but that doesn't matter since the PS3 versions are being shut down soon anyway.

I wouldn't play the last guardian since it's basically hey you pikachu. Might as well go get a dog or cat in real life and try to train them to solve puzzles if you are in that much dire need of frustration.

Or if you have a small child put them in a Halloween costume.
