Where do you get this information from?

Would love to know more about how ps+ works.

How in the hell would a Vita be able to handle PS4 games? I can see Sony setting themselves up for failure here...
They're just streaming the games, not running them.

The PS4 has specific hardware in it just for Remote Play-style streaming of the game's video to the Vita.
I would strongly disagree to your statement that not creating demos leaves money on the table for developers. The bandwidth cost alone is not insignificant, nevermind the cost of creating a demo. I think a lot of people don't value demos that much these days because renting games from Gamefly or Redbox is pretty cheap; with demos, you'd have to download them, make the space for them on your hard drive, delete them, and if you do get the full game, you have to replay those levels over. In your anecdote, you said a demo might make you 20% interested in a game - that's not enough for PSN games. Even on XBL where every game has a demo and developers don't pay for bandwidth, the conversion rate from demo to full game purchase is probably just around there.
Agreed, and there is some market data that suggests that releasing a demo can actually hurt sales either because the game is not great or not susceptible to demoing, or because players (e.g., kids) get their fill of the game from just the demo.

When I was a kid without much money, I definitely played demos over and over and was perfectly fine with that.

It's a streaming mechanism, most of the computations are still performed inside your PS4. Your vita will act as a "remote monitor + controller".

I figured the games would have to stream but with the amount of data presumably required for PS4 games wouldnt they be extremely laggy? Or wouldnt you need really high powered internet? Obviously I have no clue what I am talking about so feel free to laugh in my face for asking such simple questions.

No one is laughing at you friend.
I haven't looked into the specs yet, will do when more details emerge. But I imagine:
1) it is only viable in local LAN
2) the amount of data streamed to your vita is compressed since your screen size is small.

No worries, just being sarcastic. I would laugh at me if I knew more technical stuff. :)

I don't see what is so cool about Vita streaming. Why would I want to play on a smaller screen if I live by myself?

It should be the other way around. I should be able to play Vita games on my big screen TV - now that would be exciting!

A lot of stuff that Sony and MS is pushing won't make sense if you live by yourself.

I guess they're trying to get it to where you can take it anywhere. I play my PS3 on my Vita 100+ miles from where I have it. It does get laggy sometimes.

True story. My gf is always watchong tv, ill be able to play ps4 games while she watches project runway marathons.

It's nice to be able to keep playing console games when I want to watch sports or Netflix or whatever on the TV.

I think Vita streaming might also be just another way to undermine the Wii U. It's basically the same thing, but with a significant graphical upgrade, not to mention being universally supported. I don't expect I would get much use from it, but I still find it a pretty cool idea;)

There's a great article at Gamasutra where Mark Cerny talks a lot about the decisions they made about the PS4 hardware and philosophy behind their decisions if you want to learn a bit more about it.

I like Nintendo but I don't think they need any help undermining themselves right now. I think Sony is looking at what Microsoft is doing, what Valve is doing, and what Apple is doing, and even what Nintendo is doing with the 3DS, but I doubt they're paying much attention to the Wii U.

Edit: Although perhaps things are different in Japan. That I don't know too much about.

I don't see what is so cool about birth control pills. Why would I want to take them if I can't get pregnant?
I second everything above, MrNinjaSquirrel is right on here in my opinion. My wife really likes Critter Crunch as well.
late to the party, but imo the best wife game on PSN is PixelJunk Monsters. I don't know why or how they made a tower defense game my wife loves, but they did. and i've heard the same from others. it's a solid coop experience, challenging enough for me and cute enough for her... and a great game in general. we had an absolute blast rainbowing all the levels.

my wife also liked stacking.
fuck. That sucks. Pinball Arcade needs to go the Zen Pinball route where the base is free and all titles are DLC. I'd hate to spend $30 for tables 1-10 then lose the ability to play them when my PS+ ends.
isn't the main game only like $5? so it's not the end of the world if your ps+ runs out and you want to unlock everything.
Fruck, I can't believe it! I was going to buy the sleeping dogs dlc today and... it's gone. :bomb: I want to blow up.
Awww, man, you only had two weeks to do so too!
Awww, man, you only had two weeks to do so too!
Started to play the game two days ago, has had me hooked since. I decided today that I wanted to get the dlc. Damn.

Getting pregnant is overrated imo. :baby:

the 'amount of data' for streaming is pretty easy to determine.

you have: a vita quality video stream going from ps4 to vita
and inputs (button presses, etc) going from vita to ps4.

all actual work is being done by the ps4, so it's just a pure video feed -- but optimized for the vita screen (so significantly less data than streaming a HD movie to your tv, for example).

over a home wireless network, i see no reason why they shouldn't be able to pull it off. the only major issue is keeping input lag to a bare minimum. there's always input lag (even the dual shock communicating with a ps3 is 'input lag', just unnoticeable) .

This discussion is slightly off-topic, but I'll bring it around by saying that Guacamelee did a great job with the remote play. It wasn't technically a full stream of the gameplay, but using the Vita as a controller I explored the maps at the end to find the rest of the treasure chests and did the final boss fight that way too. Controller input was responsive, and having the map on the screen made a huge difference (just like the Castlevania games on DS).

If a PSN downloadable title can do that on a smaller budget, I'm sure large development teams working with hardware like the PS4 that's more optimized for remote play support will be able to do it well.

In my opinion, the DLC isn't really worth it, so you're not missing much. I loved the main game, but I just played through Nightmare in North Point and it was very repetitive and not much fun.. plus it was only an hour or two long, not really worth $3.49. Just started Year of the Snake and it seems a little better, though.

5000.
i guess they're trying to get it to where you can take it anywhere. I play my ps3 on my vita 100+ miles from where i have it. It does get laggy sometimes.
You can do that? I figured you had to be relatively close to your PS3 to do remote play.
just finished sleeping dogs. :d so awesome. Had to make sure i beat one or two of tylerh's records in the process too. :p
Haha I did the same thing to someone else on my friends list. I don't remember who it was, but I made sure to drive without hitting anything longer then they did.
isn't the main game only like $5? So it's not the end of the world if your ps+ runs out and you want to unlock everything.
It's $10.

Also, good counter argument about demos. I've never heard about that bandwidth thing, which would be a huge deal. I'm still a huge proponent of demos and developers/publishers lose money from me when they don't have a demo for me to check out. But I'm sure there are plenty of others out there who are a little bit more impuslive than me and more willing to take a risk on an unknown game without trying it first.

Tyler made a point in his second-to-last post that he got post 5000 in this thread. Either a mod is in the process of deleting posts because we've somehow gone way too off-topic or somebody here is deleting posts to ruin the joke.

^^

He deleted one of his posts so he now has 5000. If tyler follows suit though...this could get messy:boxing:

EDIT: ah, should have figured it wasn't Frisky. Sorry about that:cry:
Anyways back on topic, I hope rayman origins is free on ps+ month

Well I already have disc version so pulling for ico and sotc collection since Europe got that and well most likely be getting Sony developed games to coincide with e3 and ps4 push

5007.
Anyways back on topic, I hope rayman origins is free on ps+ month

I don't. I just bought the digital version a couple months ago. I do hope Morgan guests on the Blogcast again tomorrow and we get the heads up on next month a little early. :)

EDIT: I think Morgan is in Italy. Either someone else would have to guest on the Blogcast, or more than likely we won't be getting the info til Monday.

Morgan's definitely not going to be on the Blogcast tomorrow, as he's on vacation in Europe where he proposed to his girlfriend. That's why he hasn't been posting on the blog for the past week or so.

Woot go Morgan! Always good to hear that the lady said yes haha. Things go south fast if there is a no or not right now.

@MrNinja One can only hope lol.
