If anyone still wants a PS+ free month promotion for US PSN, give me a PM. (You will need a US credit card, no current subscription, and it must be claimed today)

What is everyone hoping we get for July?

I would love to see us get Okami HD, since Europe has had it for a while. Wouldn't mind getting BF3 or Unit 13 as well.
Okami would be nice, I am hoping for Catherine.

One of the parts I had to play over and over on FUBAR was the "freebird...MOVE IN!" helicopter sequence, you have to find exactly the correct timing of how fast to run, when to run, and what path to take around the obstacles in order to prevent dying while running to the end of the hallway.

Kingdoms of Amalur and Hitman Absolution would be nice, both of these games were in the eu ps+ instant game collection so there is a slight chance we will get them too.

I would love to get Hitman. I have talked myself out of buying that one for the sake of the backlog so far. I figured I would either get it free on plus or get it next time I sign up for Gamefly for a couple months. I would prefer it on plus so I could make my rentals go a bit further. No real interest in KoA, but I know a lot of people would be happy with that one. I am just not an RPG guy.

i'm probably one of the few not hoping for hitman or kingdoms(own them both). though i wouldn't mind if kingdoms shows up, and they keep up the trend of putting the dlc on sale. since i need both of those. dmc and ico/sotc would be high on my list right now. vita side there's not much i'm interested in atm, owning most of the must have games for it already. wouldn't mind a free/discounted little king's story or atelier(sp?). though i'm thinking we might see that orc attack, if the delay wasn't worse than a month.

Hitman Absolution is $11.99 @ Best Buy today (http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/detail.jsp?skuId=2824194&pid=1218355300996&ev=prodView), which made me think it'd be joining the IGC soon. Just a weird hunch.

It's been super discounted a lot of places the last few months but it's another Squenix game so that shouldn't be surprising. We'll see it sooner or later for sure since it seems like Sony and Squenix are developing a nice little partnership of putting their releases on IGC. Hopefully that means we'll also see Tomb Raider in the next couple months.

Did anyone ever answer my question of whether anyone still plays Fat Princess?

2 questions: does Saints row come with the genkai pack? i have the CE that i got for 22 bucks at best buy, but would rather not open it just for the code...hell, anyone knoe if its even still valid?

same question for xcom. i have the firsat rin with the elite soldier pack. Does this have it?

Yes to your SR3 question. The copy from PS+ includes the funtime / genki dlc, but I don't know if the code you mentioned is valid or not. Not sure about Xcom.

thanks. Was your yes about thr SR3 code still being valid monkeydrummer?

hmm.. anyone know if the elitepack is worth opening my copy of xcom for? seems silly if i have a free digital copy.

I'm pretty sure it's no on both counts, though I don't even see the ESP listed as an add-on for XCOM like it's available on Steam.

Sorry, edited for clarification. I meant yes SR3 comes with that pack. I never previously owned it on PS3 before getting it from Plus and the first thing I did after the tutorial was put on Professor Genki's suit and equip the squid weapon. The cannon vehicle is in my garage too. Unless I got lucky and got it for free for some reason?

hmm.. monkey says yes the ps+ has genki, friskytanuki says no. Which is it?

The SR3 that comes as a part of PS+ does come with the Genki stuff. I completed the game previously on disc without it but downloaded it as a part of PS+ a couple of days ago and when I loaded it up I was able to access the clothes, squid cannon thing, and the vehicle

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/06/30/the-drop-week-of-july-1st-2013-new-releases/

Here's The Drop for this week:

PlayStation Network

Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War – Utilizing a next-generation game engine, the game’s armies collide on the battlefield at an unprecedented scale. Countless numbers of men consumed with ferocious intensity converge on screen, where tactics and cunning combine with valor and might to determine who is left standing at the end of the day. The game puts players in the role of a rogue commander and gives them direct control of mercenary units in fierce clashes with English and French forces. You must adjust strategies as skirmishes evolve, and then deploy the unit best-suited to handle the challenge. Game progression is wholly dependent on a player’s decisions and accomplishments on the battlefield.

Farming Simulator (PS Vita) – Become a farmer and experience the thrill of driving heavy modern farm equipment as you try and feed the world! Grow and harvest crops while utilizing a variety of vehicles and implements over the 900+ acre island in your quest for farming greatness.

Pinball Heroes: Complete (PS Vita) – Classic arcade pinball action in the palm of your hands. With multiple Pinball Heroes pinball tables to download – each one based off of a different hit Playstation franchise – you’ll always have a new challenge to conquer. So whether you’re a casual gamer or a true pinball wizard, Pinball Heroes for the PS Vita gives you authentic arcade pinball experience – anytime and anywhere.

Velocity Ultra (PS Vita) – In 2212 the distant star Vilio exploded into a red giant, sending an electromagnetic pulse surging into our deep space mining ships, colony cruisers and Special Forces fighters. Now the star is beginning to collapse into a black hole, pulling our stranded fleets to their doom. To make things worse, our warring neighbors have deployed scavengers to prey upon our people. Only one craft is capable of a rescue mission, the Quarp Jet — a spacecraft capable of teleportation.

Tour De France 2013: 100th Edition – Gain the lead with full control over your speed, effort and racing trajectory around every bend. Plan your race strategy and use realistic team tactics to conquer each stage of the race. Team up with a friend in co-op mode or battle it out for the yellow jersey in versus mode.

Demos

  • Pinball Heroes: Complete Trail (PS Vita)
  • Velocity Ultra (PS Vita)
PlayStation 2 Classic

Warriors Orochi – Warriors Orochi is a crossover of two historical action epics, Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. In the game, Orochi the king of demons has merged together in time the Sengoku and Sangokushi periods in an attempt at world domination. The heroes of both Dynasty and Samurai Warriors must now fight together to defeat Orochi and his demon followers.

I need to try that farming simulator demo to see if it's pretty much the same as the mobile version. I'm guessing it is. If so, it is probably a decent game but isn't quite as goofy as the PC version. The price is decent, though, and it's an easy platinum for anyone who cares about that stuff.

Just a stupid kind of fun, really. Same as train simulator. Though some people take both of those games very seriously...crazy people.

If you didn't know, there's a demo of Puppeteer on the Japanese PS Store. I recorded it so you don't need to download it for six minutes of gameplay.

Meme? If it's anything like the PC version, it's a fairly hardcore sim.

Okay? Somebody made a stupid video with the game. That doesn't mean it's a joke game like Surgeon Simulator 2013.
I'm just saying that's almost every video I've seen and it's always talked about in those meme like tones of "this games is so Big Rigs Over the Road Racing it's good!" Even the GiantBomb video has plenty of moments where they're clearly trying not to ridicule some of the ridiculousness too hard. Whether it's a serious sim or not I have no idea but it's definitely become something of a meme and that seems to be why it's become this big internet thing this year.

That was a thing last year. Old now. The game isn't meant to be a joke, though it seems to appeal to a broad range of people and a lot seem to think of it as a joke. I'm honestly not sure why I like it. I think part of it is because I think it is funny, in a way, with how goofy the physics can be. Other part being that I have a problem with picking up games like Harvest Moon and playing for several hours before realizing it. I paid more than $9.99 for it on PC and have no regrets and only minor shame.

For one, I don't follow stupid internet shit at all, so I don't know what's "hot" or not. To me, it doesn't really matter if people on the internet can make dumb videos about a game since they can pretty much do that for everything.

Giant Bomb does that for many of their PC games, especially when Vinny's involved. He's all about trying to do dumb things with games when they allow it, but that doesn't mean the games they play are only made to be dumb like a Surgeon Simulator 2013. It's European-made game from a long-running series.

http://www.farming-simulator.com/about-psvita.php

Anyway, the official site says it'll be $9.99, so that's a better price that I would've expected.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging the game or making any commentary on whether it's a quality sim or not because I can't speak to that at all. I was saying that it seems like most people see it and that whether fair or not it's tied to the meme and it's not easy to tell why people are actually interested in it.

Oh, I understand. I was just trying to explain it from a different viewpoint. I had seen that video and use "no scope cornshot" from time to time. I enjoy stupid internet shit™ in moderation.

Edit: Just played the demo and it appears to be exactly the same as the android version, though I could be missing something. Android version is only $1 and supports the PS3 controller (sixaxistool) without having to tweak anything at all.

Yeah I should have probably put a disclaimer that it's best watched with the sound down. At least I skipped it past all the pot images and plain stupid.

To assume anyone with 50 plats has to have hard ones is wrong. I know at least 50 of mine (probably closer to 75) were crazy easy and there are a bunch more easy games that I have not played (HM being one of them, although no plans to ever play that one).

Also, there are a handful of games where the difficulties do not stack. The Prince of Persia collection games are the first that come to mind for me. I remember being so tired of those when I was done.
my point was more that anyone interested enough in plats to get 50 almost certainly has done hard ones as well, and isn't just doing easy ones. but hey, maybe that person exists.

and my post explicitly stated some don't stack... but most do.

Does Monsanto show up and bully you into using their seeds and threaten to shut you down?  If you can run their reps over with a tractor, that would be an instant buy.

Okami would be nice, I am hoping for Catherine.

One of the parts I had to play over and over on FUBAR was the "freebird...MOVE IN!" helicopter sequence, you have to find exactly the correct timing of how fast to run, when to run, and what path to take around the obstacles in order to prevent dying while running to the end of the hallway.
on fubar, i finally figured out the issue for this.

i was dying almost instantly every time, sometimes making it halfway. about about 50 tries, i did some google research.

tons of people were reporting it being nearly impossible (like i was) but every once in awhile i saw reports of people doing it easy. this made me sit back and study my own experience, and i noticed that my 'checkpoint' had actually 'saved' 2 enemies far back in the hallway... and it turns out, these were the guys actually killing me, not the helicopter.

the helicopter sequence doesn't start the second of the checkpoint -- if you actually just stay still and kill the dude(s) far off, you can then do the helicopter run easily as it doesn't seem to actually kill you on it's on (unless you stop).

it's my belief that some people get to that checkpoint and have already killed all hallway enemies, thus never get sniped by them coming down the hallway... which is why some people reported it not being an issue at all. some also might only have 1 enemy, thus finally get by. if you have 2 or more (like i did) it was effectively impossible till i sniped them before starting the run.

hope that helps someone.

bladestorm. interesting. i wanted that years ago, but for some reason back then it was quite expensive (as in, over 60 used... possibly rare before a reprint or something?).

might have to pick it up. i remember the demo being fun, though everything feeling a bit budget.

any thoughts from those who have beat it?

also --

does being released on PSN in 2013 mean it will need to have trophy support implemented for this release, or will it get grandfathered in w/o trophies?
