I forgot about Retro City Rampage.  I only played it a bit then never got back to it.  It was kind of bland as I remember but had some good 80s parodies which I always enjoy.  I too am a child of the 80s and love all things making fun of the decade.  Which is why Vice City was so awesome to me.

Anyways considering one guy basically made the entire game I will give it another try sooner or later.

Picked up Alice: MR and Force Unleashed 2. I restrained myself from a nostalgia impulse buy with POP Trilogy. But I'm still kicking myself for falling asleep at the wheel and missing out on SOTC and Ratchet & Clank Collection... Wait, what's this over here? -PLAY lineup emerges, observes Ducktales - dark foreboding music begins, trance-like stare ensues (sees only radiant glow of PS logo), reaches for wallet, empties contents all over the floor followed by a brief pause, shakes head vigorously... everything returns to normal (sounds of Silent Hill sirens fade). What just happened, was I dreaming?
Yeah... I stayed up like an extra 3 hours last night trying to decide between the last four items I wanted from the sales (Trine 2, PoP trilogy, Growlanser and Alice) and not wanting to use the rest of my PSN credit. Ended up just getting them all and going to bed.

This OP should list PS+ prices. And get rid of all the silly icons.

Just do what the XBL thread does.
How dare you talk to Frisky like that, he is a GOD and you are a nothing. ;)

How long is the Atlus sale? I'm thinking of getting Yggdra if the sale ends today.
I don't think we know. I was looking for an answer while trying to decide whether to buy Growlanser or wait and triple checked all the recent blog posts and nothing.

Speaking of Steam. Doesn't everyone love the little Football Manager Summer Camp picture on the front page or is it just me? If you're a Manager of a Football team you must always have a big open-mouthed grin and nobody can see your eyes.

The Runner2 DLC is out today for anyone that cares. It's one of my favorite games of the year, but $3 seems too much for a 5-character pack for now. Guessing a discount will appear in the future as it's already been discounted in Steam during the summer sale.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/07/15/runner2-who-says-you-cant-buy-friends/
I want those characters so bad but considering how little I've paid for their other games it's going to need to drop a lot lower.

Well, Sony isn't letting me buy from them. Got a couple of errors in the transaction history listed as "missed charges" and trying to buy from the PS3 just says "An error occurred." Fine Sony, don't take my money!

I should note, that the problems occurred last night while using the web store, and continued into today on both that and the PS3 store. So it probably isn't a case of the store being updated.

This happens every week as the store updates. When will folks learn to make their purchases earlier.

That happened to me last night. I had to add funds to my account using paypal.. was really annoying. I've used the same card for many purchases on the PSN store before so it was definitely a random error..

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/07/16/bid-for-greatness-opens-own-a-piece-of-playstation-history/

Sony's set up an auction site for various items from the Greatness Awaits video that lets you bid with your Gold trophy count, though not your actual trophies.
Came here to post this.

Some of you guys with really high gold trophy counts (Velo, gettinmoney, RPG come to mind) may want to check this out, you may be able to get something cool. My measly 163 golds aren't going to get me anything...

That's an incredibly bad ass promo. People have only been talking about gamer score/trophies/achievements converting into some sort of tangible reward since the idea was first introduced. Too bad that I'm only a few hundred gold trophies behind others.

I'm gonna have to run through MegaMind now, haha, but I still doubt I'd win anything.

The first item that's up for bidding has a top bid of 462 Gold trophies, so you may have better luck later on when interest drops and some of those people have spent their trophies.

Eh, there's only 15 items for bid. I'm interested in the Dragonborn stuff or maybe the concept art but I imagine many others are too.

You know, this is a really clever ploy too.  Bet they were like "How can we rope people even further into buying bad games for trophies?"

I guess it depends who they were attempting to engage with this promo, if they want to engage the top 1% and that's it, then it's a rousing success, for the other 99% it's a mildly depressing "welp, I have no chance at getting anything."

It might have been better if they split it into two categories, half the items are by auction (high gold count ensures victory), and half the items are by raffle with your total gold count split over the two. Then make a raffle ticket cost something like 5 or 10 gold trophies. That way everyone had an opportunity to win at least one item.

Yeah, I read someone mention a raffle system and that at least gives a chance for someone with a low gold trophy count to win, but I think this promo is designed to reward those who have a ton of gold trophies (and therefore play a ton of games) than say someone who doesn't even care about trophies but got a couple golds by accident.

Yeah, that would make it more widely accessible but I think they really just wanted that huge excitement around it. Also I've never seen anything like this given away in this sort of manner and those are definitely 1% prizes. I guess it doesn't bother me quite as much since I've never won a thing in my life.

Or makes a bunch of fake accounts then goes back earning all the easy golds in their library.

Yeah, as I added in an edit, all of these errors were happening last night and continued into the morning. If they're going to be so inconvenient about this I'll just remove my card info and stick to buying PSN cards (which luckily for me, means less impulse buys). Still half expect to see the charges pop up on my credit card bill in the near future, so prepared for that.

Cool idea for a promotion but come on this is meaningless to 99% of PS users. My 195 Gold's will not even be half enough for any of the items. Maybe this is a test run for a future rewards store where there is a ton of items and small swag stuff so it's meaningful to most users.

True, but no matter how good you are, there is always going to be someone better, you have nearly 400 and that still probably won't get you anything.

Easy fix for that, only accounts created before July 16th would count toward the promotion

Now that I've seen the videos for Cloudberry Kingdom (wow) and ibb & obb I'm sure I'll only be picking up two of the summer games.  I'd be willing to give either of those a spin if they were on the vita (where I can tolerate repeat frustration) but with them being just on the PS3 I'll have to pass.  Hope they get ported someday though and looking forward to Stealth Bastard and Ducktales.

When do we get to gamble our plats? lol

Beat Hazard Ultra is awesome. super fun party game with your own music too. totally tripped out speed insanity.

it gets intense.

Me being a downer again, but the "intensity" is actually the reason I can't play too much of it. Feels like I'm about to have a seizure. Granted, I played the Steam version in front of a computer screen, so it may be different with a console/couch setup.

i was playing it at a party with like 10 people in the room. everyone was pretty zoned out.

i made it the farthest and it was like totally in the moment zone where you aren't even knowing what you are doing it is all just instinct muscle memory twitch action. super crazy but yeah, after like 15 mins of that we needed something chill cuz it is def strobe light seizure inducing. everyone else lasted a few seconds, haha. good fun, but yeah a bit too much at times. i think it was skrillex or some crazy audio so that didn't help either. ;) 5.1 surround sound, big screen, 200% visual intensity. good stuff.

the more you play the crazier it gets too cuz you unlock more lives, special bombs and missiles and lock ons, more powerups, etc.

I like the idea of bidding for stuff using trophies...

Not too interested in props or "outfits"... plus there's only one item to win per day? Good luck with that. That Duck360 guy can probably just go ahead and get everything hahaha.

It would be cool if they did more stuff like this in the future though. However I'd rather if you could just win DLC tokens, or copies of movies, or a limited edition copy of a game or something. I honestly wouldn't want any of the stuff in these auctions even if I knew I could have them. The swords are not real, and the outfits would just be weird. I know some people are into that stuff though... just not for me.

I am going to be all in for the end scene concept art.  I am not sure that even I have enough to be able to win it, but I am sure as hell going to try.

It would be cool if when you bid, those gold trophies would no longer be eligible for bidding but since you get them back and there is only one item per day, there is no way I'll have a chance at anything.

That was not the way I read it. I think once you bid those are gone from your pool. However, it is not very specific, so you may be right.

They made it seem like all bids would equal your total not what you described

It's my understanding that once you bid with them, you can't use that amount anymore for the whole promotion period.

Of course, you’ll want to think strategically. Spend all your Gold Trophies in one shot to try and score your dream item, or split your proceeds and go for several? The choice is yours. And the best part is, if you’re short on Gold Trophies you can earn some on your PS3 and PS Vita then come back to bid again.
