gettinmoney - hit me up. i need to beat co op missions in RO. that's Ragnorok Odyssey. Im on ch4.

also are all those free soul sacrifice dlcs still available or do they charge for them now?
I've been playing RO w/ gettinmoney. I'm still in ch. 3 but have only played online for the most part. Hit me up with a time that works for you. I have experienced a little lag for online but it seems to work ok. Who knows how it will be with more players.

@ SgtWiggles

If you want to more people for co-op add me for RO.

Holy Jesus...the Speed Thrills trophy in Wipeout is a PITA. Finally got it after a million tries.

Just wanted to complain.
I've tried it a couple times and so far it's been impossible for me. Maybe I'll get lucky one day, haha.

Just let me know when you guys are thinkin of playin and I'll join you. I just beat Chapter 5, yay. After 5-9, I was expecting 5-10 to be way tough but it wasn't too bad. Also, was able to get one of the more annoying trophies (Brunhild) so happy about that.

They probably mean by today's standards. I haven't tried it myself, but I did see some of @frisky's stream and know exactly what they're getting at. For instance, during a section where he was trying to move Scrooge between a set of ropes, he couldn't simply jump in an arc to do it. The degree of motion seems restricted to an old NES d-pad, lol. Perhaps they shouldn't have characterized it as "unresponsive", but it seems fair to point out.

That said, man...soo many feels while watching that. That music! I had completely forgotten about some of those characters. Mother fuck-ing Lanchpad!!![/quote]
They could have tweaked the controls but didn't and since they kept the gameplay mainly in tact many reviewers complained about that and the difficulty. A valid complaint. I took hits a number of times because of that. Like when going from vine to vine you have to climb to the top because whenever you move to the next he drops diagonally down so if you don't do it you'll fall. Or if you don't land on a piece of terrain correctly while on the pogo stick it'll put you on your feet which sucks when it's a thorn or enemy below so you take damage. It's really about recognizing how it works and adjusting to it.

I just spent the evening beating the game on easy (usually I play on normal but those reviews scared me) and I had a blast just enjoying the experience. Now that I'm familiar with it I'll bump it up to normal, but I'm thinking I might not be able to beat it on higher difficulties without being perfect. My friend ended up switching the difficulty down to easy too.

For anyone curious, I managed to get every Trophy except beating it on Hard and Extreme and unlocking all the artwork which there's a lot. That's 17/20 and most were for simple progression and being thorough in exploring.

The only one that was frustrating was making it from one underground entrance to the other with the pogo stick on the Amazon level. You do have to be perfect since taking any damage puts you on the ground so you have to go back to an entrance, go back above ground again, then back down underground to start another run otherwise it doesn't count. Those thorns can suck it too. There are parts where you have to release square/circle to get under them then tap it again and repeat to avoid the thorns. What a pain. I was cursing up a storm lol.

So I was raised on 8-bit platformers & the DuckTales cartoon. Capcom made some of my fav games (I beat all the NES Mega Mans & DuckTales) back in the day.

But holy hot goddamn am I sucking it up on the new DuckTales. I'm playing medium difficulty & I can't beat one stage yet after about 10 tries spread between all off them.

Game controls tight. Art is amazing. My skills in serious retrograde. Please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this.....pretty please...

It's all these easy games making us soft.

I only played for about 40 minutes tonight (had to finish God of War Ascension so I can trade it in tomorrow) but I didn't have too much of a problem with the Amazon level, the only one I played.  I did have more trouble with the actual boss of the level, but part of that was caused by my own fuck ups.

Yeah, Amazon level was ok, minus a few bonehead jumps on my part. The boss can suck an egg though.

hmm. i don't really understand the question, then. if you already have the PSP versions, why buy the PS2 versions if, by your own statement, you prefer playing them on handhelds (which i agree with)?
Unless you're just smitten with the $5 sale? If i were you I'd save that $5 and wait for the psp versions to go on sale.

Imo the absolute best way to play the entire Disgaea series is buying them digital for Vita. SRPGS + handhelds = perfection.

i have to do asphalt and wipeout online... and yes, both add up.

only reason im considering the ps2 digital verison is the $5 price. Might be nice to play if anything ever happens to my disc or anything. Plus i think the ps3 upscales ps2 games doesn't it? Thats why im asking what the regular price is. Im curious how much of a sale its on. Maybe it would be bettr to just save the money but im curious just how much your saving with the $5 price

So does anyone know what Disgaea normally costs on psn?

Saiyuki and Front Mission 3 are two of my all-time favorite games. Brilliant games!
Holy crap i thought i was like the only one who ever played Saiyuki =P GOd its an unappreciated game. Great gameplay, graphics and characters. I never did beat it back in the day. I did get another copy years back but never replayed it. I really should give it a go. Would be nice to be able to do it in spurts on my psp/vita

Hmm, i guess the more niche ps1 classics like those just never go on sale then?

Runner 2 really has my number. Got the one more level syndrome going and that started 25 levels ago.

I had that same problem with the original. Bought the sequel as soon as it came out, and then continued to have that problem there, too. One of my favorite games/series out there. Very happy more people get to experience the wonder that is Whetfahrt Cheeseborger.

All this Ducktales talk is killing me.  Cant wait for some old school/new graphics platforming.  Hopefully the new Castle of Illusion will also have a plus discount day 1.  That was probably one of the first Genesis games I played.

Speaking of hard games, I find Wipeout too hard. I'm not very good at steering with the tiny analog stick. I bounce of the walls over and over. The game was fun for the first 6 or 7 races because they were easy enough to beat, but then there was a big difficulty spike and I couldn't get any further and just gave up.

I don't care for Wipeout at all. I'm just not good at it. I barely made it through the main campaign and called it a day.

I think it's just "hard game atrophy," it's been long enough that a game actually put up a challenge that we are not accustomed to it. I am beginning to think this is one of the reasons it was getting such polarizing reviews. It's Demon's Souls-syndrome, grading it down because they're sucking at it, and they're a professional game reviewer so it can't be their fault, it must be the games fault. The game's a WITCH, BURN 'ER!

I think some hard games are frustrating and others are not. Spelunky is not frustrating to me because though I die A LOT, when I start another game it's completely different (within the rules of the worlds). Also it starts immediately so you aren't sitting there waiting at long loading screens over and over. I have to say that Runner 2 might end up being the infuriating type. It's a little like that already, but I am enjoying it so far. As it gets harder and harder I might end up giving up on it. We'll see. Incidentally I have no comment on Duck Tales - I have never played it.

I think this is exactly right. I mean, DuckTales isn't that bad. It's the lack of unlimited lives at the boss or whatever other checkpoint that is preventing me from completing a stage. But I agree that reviewers are docking the game because of it. I recognize I just need to get back in the groove.

I salute your sir, if that is a Monty Python reference.

How far have people gotten in Breakquest?  I'm not sure how I feel about the game, seems like there's too much stuff going on.  But with the R and L buttons used as bumper buttons, I think I got through the first 10 levels only losing 3 balls.  Maybe the game gets much harder, but the game seems close to beatable using only 33 balls.

Demon's Souls had a 89 metacritic rating. Lets talk of game deals before another asinine conversation about game difficulty today breaks out.
You want this thread to be too easy. The slow trend of internet communication towards mediums like twitter where we're reduced to a limited number of characters have caused everyone's ability to debate to atrophy. Let us return to an age where TLDR was a badge of honor, not a death sentence.

Um...I think he just wanted to avoid the same exact debate about Demon Souls and/or game difficulty that this thread has went over so many times its ridiculous.

Way to take it WAY out of proportion and put words in his mouth. Death sentence really? And what does the length of the post have to do with anything? There have been tons of lengthy posts on here that had nothing to do with debating. Mine included.

Just everything about your post was just...blah I've said enough :wall:

Very happy more people get to experience the wonder that is Whetfahrt Cheeseborger.
This game has such zany humor. I unlocked the reverse merman last night. Needless to say I eventually realized those were indeed his GINORMOUS nuts bouncing about.

...that is the most badass turtle picture I've seen haha.
...how many pictures of badass turtles have you seen?

Sir, do take off the tinted glasses (or, monocle in your case) and realize most games were only "harder" as a means to inflate the length. It was an inelegant solution to the technical limitations of the time. Surely you aren't suggesting that uneven difficulty spikes, lack of checkpoints/saves and antiquated controls are the only true forms of "challenge".

Lets talk of game deals before another asinine conversation about game difficulty today breaks out.
Thread sergeant-at-arms, lol?

True, though that hasn't stopped some game reviewers, some game players, and indeed, the president of Sony Worldwide himself to fall to "Fox-and-the-Grapes-itis", indeed, he is one of the main reasons Demon's Souls was not published by Sony in America:

"For my personal experience with Demon's Souls, when it was close to final I spent close to two hours playing it, and after two hours I was still standing at the beginning of the game. I said, 'This is crap. This is an unbelievably bad game.' So I put it aside." -Shuhei Yoshida

I had much the same experience when playing Mega Man 9 for the first time, I hadn't played a game that difficult in so long that I could barely get through a single level, so I began to curse the unfairness of it. Then I got better over time and I was able to finish it.

Relax dude, affa only reads this thread for the avatars. Stop judging his thread-reading preferences.

What are everyone's thoughts on Atelier Totori? I was thinking of purchasing it, but I've seen too many conflicted reviews and gameplay appeared unimpressive. I hate to judge a book by its cover, though. Some say the game is too simple; other's say its only saving grace is the synthesis system. Some say the time limit is a pain and the story can be ignored and vice versa.

I think the problem is how quick people give up nowadays. Oh, I had to try more than twice? Next!

I love JRPGs but I am not into all the crafting. But my wife loves all the Atelier games. It is story driven and would be even better on a vita due to not having to remember complicated button configurations.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was joking.

Does anyone here have Shadow of the Colossus from the PSN store? I installed last night and I'm at the last Colossus...beat it without much trouble, and during the credits my game will freeze at the same exact spot every time. I've done it three times now, and same result. I'm redownloading to see if that fixes it, but wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience. Saw a thread on PS3T, but that's all I found on it.

I bet we're not the only one who had played and loved Saiyuki. It was one of the few games that I just couldn't put down. Played it from start to finish.

I agree with you about its great gameply, graphics and characters. You should definitely give it another go. I may just break out my PS1 again, if my wife can find it in one of our storage boxes, and play the game all over again.

Thank god we are on the next page so I don't have to see Superman pretending to give Batman a blowjob every freaking time I refresh the page -_-

Just everything about your post was just...blah I've said enough :wall:
get yer sarcasm detector fixed, good sir. it's broken.

i mean, c'mon, the post started with: "You want this thread to be too easy." in response to someone complaining about conversations about difficultly.

Ok ok I get it people. I was wrong geez :p

Guess I'm just being a grumpy old man today. :oldman:

I may just break out my PS1 again, if my wife can find it in one of our storage boxes, and play the game all over again.
All PS3's can play PS1 games. No need to break out the old system.

Was that in a signature or something? I hide all of those except for the ones with gamercards in them. Makes browsing CAG so much better.

Yeah right at the top of the page. Atleast with the default post per page limit. I should do that myself! Thanks for the tip.
