eh, potato patato, either way they usually delete threads that deal with glitches is what I was saying.
sorry if I'm dense. But, did sony say the main 3 would be replaced on a yearly basis?
Yes, it's been confirmed at least a few times in comments of various PS+ posts by Morgan, who said they stay in the IGC for a year for promotional purposes in all of their PS+ marketing. I unfortunately don't have a specific link for you.
Okay, cool, I thought that's what I heard. I guess I'll be buying up the DLC then.
FWIW, I played through Fallout 3 and beat 2 of the DLCs and the main story and rarely encountered any glitches on the GOTY disc. The game literally only froze once and the only other glitch I ran into was actually beneficial and allowed me to sell an infinite amount of a very rare and expensive gun which thus equaled tons of money.

Lucky! I tried to do The Dome I think it was and froze at least 30 times before quitting.
So do I need to download Sleeping Dogs patch to get those two/three additional packs that came with my download?
No, you don't. I didn't want to dl the patch so I just installed the main game only. Then I downloaded and installed the 3 free dlc packs. They showed up fine in game after you complete the first main mission. I avoided the request to install the patch by disabling internet access in network settings. Or, you can probably just reject/cancel the patch whenever you are instructed to install it.

I also just noticed that you can still access the game's social hub when you aren't connected. This is good because if you want to replay missions you have to access the social hub from the game's main menu.

Mad Dog Mcree was one of the first computer games I ever played along with Doom and another FMV game , I forget the name of it, something about Viruses and it was set in a CyberPunk sort of world.

My Aunt used to laugh when I played Mad Dog when ya shoot the bottles or whatever, and the guy says "Nice shot, tryyanother one!"

Thought I'd let everyone know how to get the FREE Just Cause 2 wardrobe in Sleeping Dogs:

Just make sure you have a Just Cause 2 save file on your account and load up Sleeping Dogs. The costume should show up in your wardrobe/closet. I already had a Just Cause 2 save file from the free ps+ game before installing Sleeping Dogs. I don't know what would happen if you don't have the Just Cause 2 save file before installing Sleeping Dogs.

Also, I didn't have to install the 1 GiB patch to get any of the free dlc to work. So without the patch the Retro Triad, Vehicle pack, Red envelope, and Just Cause 2 costume works fine with the initial install. So that's 4 free pieces of dlc including the Just Cause 2 costume.

Which one's The Dome? I don't recall doing that one so that may be why I didn't have any problems.

It was "The Pitt" my bad. It has been years since I've played Fallout 3.
Have we already had our EU bitch session for the day? Or did no one notice that Ico/Shadow will be free in June for PS+ and they have a rockin Ni No Kuni digital sale this week?

Hmmm...Ico/SotC doesn't seem all that special to me. (I guess if we did get it, I could sell my retail copy for a few bucks though). And $30 for a digital copy of Ni No Kuni is way too rich for my blood.

Won't hear any bitching from me. I love how the EU blog does a great job of giving heads-up when a game is going to be free in the near future.

Gotta agree with you there. I wouldn't pay $30 dollars to download a 26 gb game that requires 52 gb's to install.
It was "The Pitt" my bad. It has been years since I've played Fallout 3.
Ah, okay. That's what I thought, but figured I'd make sure. I haven't played that one yet, so I'll cross that bridge when it happens.

EU PS+ gets the greatest game of all time in their IGC?

Darn you NA! Of course, there's no way I would actually skip over owning my favorite games in HD, so I have the physical copy.

I think those are actually pretty weak offerings for EU. Ico/Colossus are great games but I have to imagine that anyone interested in them has played them by now. The other freebie is Demon's Souls, which is par for the course. The sale for Ni No Kuni isn't great when you remember that it's pounds, not euros, so it's $31 - and as admiralvic mentioned, you need over 50GB just to install it. The game is already $39.99 MSRP, surely the small price discrepancy is worth not having to download that behemoth?

For anyone that cares, Morgan Haro commented on the GoW error. According to him it is not slated for Plus release at this time and they won't be charging anyone that got it for free. Now I wouldn't say this means it won't be released next month, since they said the same thing about Biohazard 5, so I wouldn't say it rules out anything.

Nothing slated at this time.

No one will delete this thread =) It's a thing that happened, and was an error, but just one of those things. I will retitle this thread title though so it's not misleading.

For those that did get the game, they will be able to keep it, and there will be no retroactive charges.

The especially relevant part about the blog that I like is that not only do they mention that Demon Souls and Ico/Shadow are coming down the pipe as freebies, but they're having a sale for those that don't have PS+ (or for those that have PS+ but want to 'own' them more permanently). Very cool.

That Ni No Kuni download is obscene, I had no idea it was so nutty.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I already sold my GOW retail disc, so nice to know I'll be able to keep the games. I'll only clear about $7.50 after shipping and fees, but I always like to consider that as money that goes towards my next year's subscription. 15% of the renewal cost. :)

They can't, since you agreed to pay nothing for the item in question. Sony can't retroactively make free things paid and then expect people that agreed to buy it pay the price they never agreed to. Also even if they did, you can easily ask for a charge back and get it with most credit cards.

I know that if you perform a service for someone expecting to get paid, even though you don't ask for the permission, and they watch you do it, you are entitled to compensation.

For example, I start mowing your lawn. You see me doing it from your window but you don't stop me. You'll have to pay me a reasonable amount for the work I did.

I don't know how or if this applies to product sales though.

It wouldn't work, since it's fairly similar to entrapment and it would be horrible press for Sony. You can easily make a case that you saw the item was free for whatever reason and picked it up. Sony would have to prove that you knew GoW wasn't free and tried to exploit their error. They would also need to justify why they had the error in the first place, which would raise unwanted questions. Finally, if anyone got charged for this stuff, it would ALWAYS cast doubt on whither or not things are actually free on the PSN store. Needless to say, would you willfully pick up a "free" item if there is a chance they might decide it was an accident and charge you for it? Most likely not, so they won't do it.

I can't wait to start my career doing odd jobs nobody asked for. I'm gonna be fucking rich!

I've researched the Fallout 3 GOTY/Fallout New Vegas/Skyrim PS3 issues quite a bit and I really believe they share a common root cause. The Bethesda games are extremely memory intensive because every NPC is scripted (they carry on daily routines even when your character is not present) and every object in the world has to be tracked. What this means is that the longer you play the game and the more territory/people/objects you discover, the more "cramped" the memory becomes on the PS3. The game engine starts dynamically caching more of the memory to the hard drive and eventually you hit a point where the game starts stuttering and locks up. When you add in DLC, the problem becomes much worse because not only is the DLC adding more NPCs and objects into the base game, but a player has usually progressed quite far into the base game by the time they are ready to tackle the DLC.

When it comes to Fallout 3 and its DLC, I really don't think it matters if you have the GOTY on disc or download the DLC individually if you are going to install all five DLC packs. If you were to only install a few of the DLCs, then you probably would have better performance than the GOTY disc. It's up to you.

There are a few things you can do to help the performance with this game if you have the DLCs installed:

1. Turn off Fast Travel. The game engine has to track all of the NPCs while you fast travel (they move around just like you do) and this can cause lock ups.

2. Make sure your hard drive has extra free space before booting up the game for the first time. The game installs the Game Data in the background once you start playing for the first time (about 4 GB for a vanilla version, more for the GOTY). If you do not have a lot of free space (at least 10GB I would think), then the game may have to save portions of this game data at several locations on the hard drive. This fragmented data will make the hard drive access while playing more burdensome. Also, it is a good idea to do very little in the game for the first 30-40 minutes and let the game data fully install in one block.

3. Always make brand new saves every time you save. For some unknown reason, the save game files grow larger when saving over old data than when making new saves. More save data = more memory usage, so the smaller the save files the better.

4. Turn off the PS3 internet connection before starting the game. I don't really know if this helps, but some players swear by it. It only takes a few seconds to do and it can't really hurt.

5. And most important of all...whenever you start seeing a hint of slowdown or dropped frames, immediately save your game, quit, and power cycle the PS3 off and on. This restart will clear out the cache and ease the memory burden on the game engine. You should see an immediate improvement in the frame rate once you start the game back up. When I played the Fallout 3 GOTY, I just reset my PS3 every hour or so. It wasn't a really big deal.

Hope this helps.

The mystery is finally solved!
Yeah, I kept asking and seems nobody tried it. Caused quite amount of anxiety for me until I could finally try it out.

I'm not as hardcore as you guys (playing the same game on different platforms), I don't enjoy beating games again unless the game is designed for it. Thankfully the save carries over just fine, DLC was automatically integrated too. Now I can hear more Edison Chen voice acting.

I was looking at this week's deals on PSN, and noticed there was a banner advertising Catherine being half-off. When I went to look at at the "All Deals" page, Catherine had a "purchased" gift bag icon on it. Hadn't bought the game before--had previously downloaded the full game trial (PS+ user), but had yet to play it.
Downloading the full game now, and I don't think it was a PS+ offering (didn't have the discount icon on it). I haven't ruled out that it's something odd specific to my account--has anyone else seen this?
Who does he play? Isn't the game mostly in English? I didn't even know he spoke English.
Jackie. He speaks English like a native. His oriental accent in the game is fake.

Filesize was never an issue for me, but $30 for Ni No Kuni seems damn impressive. The retail disc has only been that low once if I recall. I'd like to see the new digital price drive down the price of the disc though, it's a game I'd at least consider playing again.
What??? In what country?
Here in the U.S., that's some knowledge I retained from my semester and a half at law school, haha. It only applies if you see someone doing something for you and don't tell them to stop. If you don't see it or you see it and tell them to stop but they do it anyways, then that's on them.

Oh shit, good to know all that, thanks. Maybe I'll just keep the GOTY version then and save the $25.

i don't know enough about the tech side of the PS3 FO GOTY fiasco, i just know i wanted to kick and scream at everyone at Bethesda after the umpteenth crash/freeze. I was never even able to finish the main game once i switched over to the GOTY disc, and don't even get me started on the nightmare of playing dlc. I want to love that damn game but it won't let me.

Really? I remember when that photo scandal hit, he hastily took to posting on his blog in English, and his grammar was atrocious. Worse than a five-year-old native's command of the language. Would you say he speaks better than Jet Li? That guy is nowhere near fluent either. (And he also had a similar underrated game on PS2 called Rise to Honor.)

Sleeping Dogs is really fun. It has a nice mix of GTA and Just Cause sensibility with punching and kicking instead of guns. My one gripe is fighting the camera a bit. I like to move one way and look another without the camera wanting to auto orient itself. I couldnt find an option to turn that off either.

^It's great. Frisky mentioned it earlier, but Gaucamelee also received a HUGE boost from releasing the week that everyone got their "Spend $50 get $10 back" bonuses.
