I can't wait for my copy of Muramasa to come in. Been wanting to try that game for a long time. Got a great pre order discount on that from Newegg.

If the sale is really good on Fat Princess I may have to get that too. I've been meaning to try that forever. I assume there's a demo for it but I've been too lazy and busy with other games to look it up haha.

I have a question that doesn't seem to be answered in FriskyTanuki's excellent FAQ.  Many of the questions cover scenarios where someone stops and then restarts a PS+ membership, but mine is about games that are free and then stop being free.  Consider the following scenario:

1) I join PS+ and download a game (say LBP2) for free.

2) LBP2 ceases to be free

3) I delete LBP2 from my hard drive to make space for other stuff

Assuming I'm still a PS+ member, will I be able to download LBP2 again at a later time for free?

Thanks in advance!

As long as it is in your download list and you are an active plus subscriber all plus content (including content that was free in the past but no longer isn't) is available for you to download again, for free.

Yes, it's tied to your account once you "buy" it and will be available in your download list even if it disappears from the store entirely. Which is why you "buy" all the free PS+ games even if you don't plan to play them/download them/even want them just so you have the option once they leave the IGC.

So this is kinda random, but for those playing or that have played recently, did you run into any technical problems with Sleeping Dogs? I had the game hard freeze earlier, and I'm trying to determin if it's the game or console to blame. Does anyone know if the PS3 starts glitching out if you are low on HDD space? I think I have 8-10GB only right now, and the fact that disc games are giving me no problems, but that I also got a hard freeze with Pinball Arcade has me concerned :whistle2:(

I had at least one hard freeze with the digital version of sleeping dogs while having quite a bit of hdd space left. I believe I also had at least one hard freeze with the disc version of the game but that while quite some time ago while the digital version hard freeze was fairly recent.

well glad it's not just me (glad because it sounds like my console isn't breaking, not that others are having problems). Thanks for the reply, hopefully it doesn't happen again

You'll never lose games from your PS+ library unless you stop subscribing.

I was under the impression you never lost them period once they are "purchased" , but that you simply couldn't play them if you stopped subbing.

That's what I was saying. If you stop subscribing, you lose access to them all until you resubscribe. You never lose anything as an active subscriber.

I guess I just found your wording a little confusing (or maybe I have slidecage syndrome). I remember someone saying before that you lost all redeemed games if you ever let your sub lapse, so I didn't want others to get the wrong idea.

To answer your questions. Yes! It's not a good idea to have below 10 GB left on your PS3 HDD.

I also had 1-3 hard freezes with the digital copy of Sleeping Dogs with 29 GB of hard drive left at the time.

If you buy a game through Plus, at a regular price or discounted price, the game is yours to play regardless of whether your subscription is active or not. But if you downloaded a "free" game, eventhough there is a purchase icon next to it within the PSN Store, you will not be able to continue to play that "free" game without a Plus subscription.

Someone posted "cross buy, cross save"

Does cross save not mean some kinda discount? Or is it just marketing jibber jabber?

I'm glad it's cross buy but if there's no discount ill wait.

Cross save just means that your game saves on vita version can be continued on ps3 version and Vice versa. Also, when you buy one you get both versions for free obviously (thats called cross buy)

Anyone got an opinion on Disgaea 3 for Vita? It's sitting in my cart used like new from Amazon for $22 and just can't decide whether to pull the trigger.

Update on the updated system update. Looks like updated update is updating next Thursday, 6/27. #Update

http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Support/System-Software-Update-PS3-v-4-45-SCEA-Update/m-p/40752377#M285039
And we'll all hold off on updating until we know it's safe.
If you ever played a Disgaea game before then 100% yes. If not, this is a pretty niche type of strategy game in a genre all of it's own. I love the humor and the ridiculously deep gameplay of it. You could literally spend hundreds of hours on it if you wanted it.

Also, in my opinion and many others, it's a much better game to have on a portable handheld than a system. It's a great game to just grind out while watching something on tv or just siting around for short periods of time.

I would watch some videos of it first, but to many it's the quintessential strategy game. Hope that helps!

Cross Save means that it supports uploading your save to the cloud between the two versions so you can keep playing from where you left off regardless of what platform you're playing it on.

I played the remake of the first one on the DS and bought the 4th one for PS3, though haven't touched it, and I really enjoy the turn based tactics genre. I also have this problem with games like this where I'm like "YES! I can put 100 hours into this and stop buying games!" then can't ever commit to getting over that initial learning curve and not even putting five hours in. I suppose I could always throw 4 in and see how I feel.

Ha! Duh. Thanks. Sorry for the brain fart.

The best thing they could do to trophy notifications for me is when they pop, let me press a button to see explanation of what it is. I always have to pause the game to go see what I actually did.
That's probably the main reason why I prefer achievements over trophies. The same thing can be said for the Xbox's message system.
Yep same reason I prefer achievements.

Edit: If I disliked both Journey and Flow. Is it a safe assumption I will hate Flower as well?
It's a safe assumption that you're a horrible person.

Kidding ;)

GameStop has the digital download version of the "Last of Us Survival Guide" for $2.99 compared to $4.99 on the PS Store for those interested.

*Requires The Last of Us to access this item via Digital Manual.*

That looks pretty underwhelming based on the description.

Just heard on Podcast Beyong that Dead Nation is coming to the Vita. I'm stoked, it's one of my all time favorite games and the Vita seems like a perfect platform for it. Hopefully there'll be a discount for folks who have the PS3 version.

One of the first things they announced at the E3 presser.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Disgaea games are notorious for that steep initial learning curve. There are lots of mechanics you have to learn. But you don't have to be a master at them to just enjoy and beat the game.

If you played and enjoyed the original Disgaea, then it's a safe bet you'll like the third. They introduce a ton of new mechanics and cool stuff into this game. Having said that, since you have the 4th, I would definitely recommend playing around with that a bit before you make a purchase. Just remember that the portable version, just like the original port you played, is a much better way to play and enjoy Disgaea.

Well they haven't sold any of the like new copies yet so that takes some of the pressure off. Will fire up 4 in a bit and see if it still clicks enough to order another game.

Too bad you missed it when it was free on PS+ (D3, that is). If I was going to play a Disaea game, it'd have to be on a portable system.

Temporary solution to the brick-firmware below for those who can't wait until Thursday.  You'll need your old (stock) HDD and a USB drive.  I tested this and it worked for me.  :)  Downside is that you'll be using your old, small HDD until Thursday, but it's better than having no PS3 at all.

1. Install your old (stock) hard drive
2. Download the 4.45 update and put it on your USB drive in a X:/PS3/UPDATE/ folderhttps://sites.google...e445update/home
3. Boot the ps3 into safe mode, and use Option 6 (install update) to install 4.45 onto the hard drive.

The downside, of course, is having to use your old/small hard drive. Better than no PS3 at all, though. Other than that, everything is working fine, PSN included.

I wouldn't do that unless you are sure the PS3 won't prompt you to reformat the hard drive with the bricked firmware when you put it back in.

Yeah I think my 80 GB Fatty (with 640 GB HDD upgrade) is soft bricked because of this firmware bug. I booted it up tonight and all was well until I started a game and the whole system crashed moments later. Restarted, got to the XMB and moments later, crashed again with a blinking red light. Very frustrating.

I have my original HDD but I don't think I'm gonna bother taking apart my PS3 to pop it back in. I'll just wait for this new firmware on Tuesday and see if I can't boot into Safe Mode and install it. What a pain in the a$$, Sony. It's really hard to overlook this since they are entirely at fault for releasing buggy firmware and my system auto-installed it overnight.

Aw man, I was thinking of getting flow, then saw that the bundle was not on sale and the dlc has its own trophies... bleh. Guess I'll just wait for a sale on the bundle instead.

Monday afternoon/night is when the next Plus information will be given out.  But pretty much all the big names have already been out, so there's not much left.  Either way, it has been quite a fantastic month for Plus members.
