I bought sorcery to whip out the move controller for a spin. I like the Play program incentives, but I checked the trophy lists and dlc laden games are not my cup of tea. The balance between been cheap and a completionist...is hard. That said, I hope they put some decent discounts later today. Still sad the vita support is just psp games. Wish they enabled other/all psp to work on vita already...

I started playing 999 months ago, lol, and can't get past the first puzzle. Have been tempted so many times just to move onto VLR since I hear the story and its "multiple endings" are nonsensical anyway. I'll give it another go, though.
*Breaks your back* Weakling!! 999 is the kiddy pool to VLR. You'd be skipping Pre-Algebra and going straight to Calculus.

And whoever you heard from...*breaks their fingers* :nottalking:

Reviews are starting to trickle in for Stealth, Inc for you on-the-fencers. I've seen an 8/10 so far. Also no plat, which was expected.

It's just the same as the pc or android version isn't it? Tons of reviews out already for those. Or did they add anything for the vita? Frankly I wasn't really paying attention I just wanted it on my vita haha.

Whoever you heard that from doesn't know what they're talking about. Finish 999 first. VLR is great but I preferred 999 over it. If you're having problems with the first puzzle in 999.. well, you'll find puzzles just as hard, if not harder in VLR.. there's no good reason whatsoever to skip 999.

VLR is a direct sequel to 999, skipping 999 is like skipping multiple chapters in a book to see the ending.

A counterpoint to all this 999 talk. If you have it, great but you do not need to play it first to enjoy vlr. I don't even know what 999 is but vlr is being enjoyed simply for the story and setting. Reminds me of the movie Cube, which I would say both rip off.

Question about vlr, goes the difficulty increase as you play on or is it stable? I'm finding it pretty simple as is with a nice mesh of seek and find and riddles.
You'll still enjoy it, yeah, but you'd be spoiling parts of 999 if you play VLR first.. so you may end up enjoying 999 less if you play it after finishing VLR.

Can't really say if the difficulty is stable, really depends on the person playing it.

I have Pinball Arcade from PS+. If it ever goes on sale for purchase - 50% off or whatever - is it possible for me to purchase it or can I only purchase it outright when my PS+ expires? The point would be to take advantage of a sale, and have the game in my actually purchased library for if I end up dropping PS+. Or for any other PS+ freebie "purchase" I might want to buy outright while on sale.

Last minute decision on a few Atlus games. I am contemplating picking up the following games:

Crimson Gem Saga

Hexyz Force

Knights in the Nightmare

Riviera

Yggdra Union

All opinion/recommendations are welcome. As is often the case with CAGs my backlog is massive.

They are all good games of course but my opinion for you is resist it man lol. My backlog is huge as well and I didn't get anything in the Atlus sale because of it. For example, I bought Crimson Gem Saga last sale they had and still haven't played it.

So unless you feel the need to play one of them like right now or very soon I would pass. Or it will just get lost in your backlog like mine probably.

Grabbed Stealth Inc.  I am I spineless excuse of a man with no will power.

I've never pre-ordered a game before.  Once the store updates, will it just automatically show up in my Download list?

Not exactly. You'll have to "purchase" the game when it releases, sort of like PS+ freebies; the price should display as "Free" instead of $7.99/$9.99 after the update tonight.

You're right, I probably should wait until the next sale. So many games to play but so little time.

Welcome to the dark side. We got fun & games.

See ya on the leaderboards!

Don't feel bad lol. It's a great game that I've been dying to play with physical controls and the one of the few games that's going right to the "play now" category in front of my backlog.

Couldn't you buy it on another account on the same PS3?

I was tempted to get Stealth Inc. until I saw last night it will have day one DLC, Teleporter Chambers (which I believe is $3.99), coming out today.  I will probably just get DuckTales when it comes out.  All others probably just wait until a later sale and the usual 50%+ off since backlog is too big anyway.

Yeah I never love Day 1 DLC. Hopefully it will be on sale at some point in the future.

EU customers get the Day 1 DLC for free if they buy the game during the first couple weeks of release. But I don't believe they are getting a 20% PS+ discount nor the PSN Play rebate opportunity.

I would not get the PS+ sale price if I did that, unless I paid for a second PS+, which would be dumb. LOL.

Or would I? I guess I've never checked, but I would doubt it.

You're right, if it were a PS+ only sale or an extra discount for PS+, you wouldn't get that on the secondary account. You could try to snag a one month trial from somewhere though.

But yeah, the situation your describing has been discussed many times before and is one of the small drawbacks to PS+.

so yea

Everyone should have a DS laying around! Not only was it an awesome handheld with great titles, but while not in use it's a fashionable, trendy paperweight! (Not the DS phat though. That's just plain ugly.)

I spent about 3 hours in the first room. I thought if this was real, Junpei would be dead. After figuring out the puzzles it takes two minutes to get out.

I followed the recommendations and tried 999 out first. I borrowed a DS from a co-worker and got the game via gamefly. Thanks for all the 999 before VLR recommendations.

If you can get it, try it out. It's text heavy, but it's really good.

This is kind of the reason I want, at the very least, the iPhone version of 999 to be ported to the PSP. So that people who got VLR can have an option of playing 999 without a DS.

Jumping in on this 999 discussion, did anyone play it more than once to get all the endings?

I played it once and got a "bad" ending and then started a 2nd playthrough. I realized that I didn't want to solve all those puzzles again so I "abandoned ship. " (ha ha) Is it worth multiple playthroughs?

Oh God Yes. The only way to make any sense of the story is to get the good ending. The bad endings wont tie directly over to VLR. You need to play at least 2 times more. I got all three bad endings first... :whistle2:(

It's also like watching the Empire Strikes Back and not watching the Return of the Jedi or just watching the first Lord of the Rings movie. Another example is buying a psn game and never downloading it... :)

Crimson Gem Saga is pretty slow moving and dull. The numerous random battles all takes 3+ rounds to complete. I gave up on it early.

Yggdara Union is great. Strategy RPG with a wonderful story.

Playing Hexyz Force now. Standard JRPG, nothing excitng, and fairly easy.

Riveria is okay but requires multipule playthroughs in order to experience everything. Get ready to make choices between differents paths, dialogues you want to see, items to collect, etc and then having to leave the other behind.

Haven't played Knights in the Knightmare.

I totally understand that, I would try borrowing a DS though. I don't think it's worth it to skip 999 to play VLR, even if you got it for free via PS+.

If you only got a bad ending, then you didn't finish the game and didn't get the true ending, so you're missing out on a huge chunk of the story.

Yes, it's worth multiple playthroughs, since that's the only way to finish the game.. if you're having a lot of trouble figuring out how to get the true ending, you might wanna use a guide.

Looks like I might have found my will power to pass on games. I passed on the 2 week Summer Sale since I owned mostly everything physical. Some of the games that interested me I knew I wouldn't get around to play them anytime soon. So I passed on them this time.

Now with this new promotion I have a feeling we will see 2 out 4 games free for PS+ eventually. I'm just going to focus on my physical and digital backlog and just be patient enough for lower drops or to be a PS+ free game.

Duck Tales looks amazing and a total flashback to my childhood days. I can also see them remaking Rescue Rangers. Capcom ruled the NES days on platforming.

More power to ya brother. You're a better man than most of us haha. I'm getting there but still have a bit to go.

There's an iPhone version? I don't have a DS but I do have an iPhone. I can't find it. Is it called something else? Is it severely butchered?

I'm not better than anybody here just finally came to the point realizing that I have more than enough to play. As more games come out the longer the backlog will sit untouched. I need to stop neglecting my backlog and just work through it. I got a large backlog but it only includes, PS3, PSP, Vita, DS & 3DS systems. I'm glad I never started buying STEAM games cause it would never end. I always look at STEAM as a drug you don't want to try cause it'll hook you instantly.

You only have 1 of the DLC's for Soul Sacrifice PS Vita, but they are all free.  There are like 5 of them, I got them all for 0 duckets.

Bottom right corner of your post there should be a link that says "Hide". Hide is the new delete.

And Steam is exactly what screwed me haha. I'm currently in Steam rehab. But I'm doing good though cause I only spent like $30 on the Steam summer sale. One day at a time... :oldman:

That's good to hear since I heard about too many crazy deals from Steam. I know a lot of people that have a 100+ Steam backlog plus all other consoles. I already told myself never to look into STEAM cause I know I will lose the war of a backlog. Finally finished Soul Sacrifice this weekend and got the platinum. Glad I got control of my backlog at the moment. As we all know that can change at any minute. Haha

Like tyler, I have to make my decision on Stealth Inc soon. The reviews that are trickling out seem good, but it really bites that you have to commit to the purchase before getting a demo (or a more sizable selection of reviews). I have a feeling I will end up getting most of the PSN play games to "save" more, but will get probably end up buying a clunker this way...
