There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

This might be old news to some but the PS mobile store is supposed to be shutting down this year. This article gives dates and some details about registering devices to allow for game play after shutdown.

Sony plans to shut down playstation mobile

I stopped caring about the source of my games once I purchased my Vita but I guess it's time to make my list of PS Mobile vs PSN games and get them downloaded.
there are a couple great games on there (tokyo jungle mobile, rymdkapsel, etc) but many of the best got vita native versions. there are some other gems like cytus lambda. 95% of the games are terrible, though.

but in general? if you never played a single psm game you won't be missing out for life or anything. I would grab tokyo jungle to have it on the go if you like TJ on ps3. they're different (psm is turn based) but still great.

Wow. The bombshell there is that you won't even be able to download from your list after September 10th. A decade from now it could be PSP or PS2 titles.
far less likely with a major player like PSN.

very few people actively bought things on PSM -- it was a dead service from start to finish. there's no money in keeping it alive, and i'm surprised they kept it up this long.

PSN is a thriving venture. even if sony went under, there is money to be made by whoever bought the pieces to keep it up. i wouldn't worry about it any more than worrying about something disasterous happening to your physical collection.

Finally got around to building a railway bridge in Minecraft on PS4 to get the On A Rail trophy and now I'm rebuilding that bridge to replace the dirt and glass to make it more of a covered tunnel to another base that I'm planning to make where it ends.

Well, from what I read, it seems like if you activate "PS Mobile" in your Vita settings, you are able to download past that date. But I may be wrong, it's not explained very clearly.

Well, from what I read, it seems like if you activate "PS Mobile" in your Vita settings, you are able to download past that date. But I may be wrong, it's not explained very clearly.
  • For PS Vita users: You will need to complete the device activation process by performing the steps below between March 10, 2015, and September 10, 2015:
Go to [Settings] > [PSN℠] > [System Activation] > [PlayStation Mobile] > [Activate] > [OK].
  • For PlayStation®Certified device users: You will need to open up the PSM app and launch any purchased PSM content between April 10, 2015 and September 10, 2015*3 to complete the content authentication process.
  • Please ensure that you have downloaded all of the games that you want to keep. After September 10, 2015, you will not be able to re-download your purchased content.
  • Devices that are not authenticated prior to September 10, 2015 will be unable to access previously purchased PSM content after that date.

You have to activate by September 10th because after that they're taking the servers down for it entirely. So no more authentication (presumably they're changing it from a monthly authentication like it was to permanent) and no more downloads. The worst part is that if you have to replace your device for any reason you're going to lose it.

Now this is where I'm having an issue. I'm guessing after the September date, I will no longer be able to download any of these games from Sony, but lets say I buy a new Vita next year, shouldn't I be able to "deactivate" the PS mobile on my current device, and reactivate it on my new device and just transfer any games over like always?

As long as I have these games backed up, shouldn't I always have access to them, even on a new device? This is where I'm confused.

This should work but I'm not sure if there has been official confirmation. As they are patching out the need to 'phone home', in theory using CMA to move/backup you vita files to your pc/ps3 and allow you to keep them forever and/or move them to another device.

Yeah, it would suck if I can't move them at a later date, as I can't say for sure how long I may have my current model. I may have it until the Vita's life cycle is over, or I may opt for a newer unit later this year.

Nope. The way PSM works is that it requires a connection to the server periodically to validate the DRM and is attached that device specifically. So they're probably changing that validation from one month to lifetime but it's still attached to that single device. So you'll still have the games all backed up but the new device will never have been authenticated and it will be impossible to do so.

Yeah, this is how they pushed out updates to the PSM SDK that you could grab by just starting up a PSM game.

Ah, now I'm seeing the issue. Those bastards! LOL Well, at the pace the Vita is going currently, I don't know if I need to worry about a 3000 model ever making it to market, so hopefully I'll be OK with my current unit for the duration. If not, there's only a few good games I stand to loose, but this is why "digital" sucks A$$!

http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/community/articles/1338/cross-save-in-borderlands-the-handsome-collection

Gearbox posted details of the Cross Save stuff between the current games and the new remastered collection that will go live with a new update, which is similar to most Cross Save games.
I am not even bothering importing my old saves. I want to start from scratch anyway so I would pretty much just carrying over customization stuff. Also to note, I no longer own BL2 and my 360 isnt even hooked up and I left my flashdrive with the save and my account at a friend's house months ago and never bothered to get it back... so there are a lot of variables telling me to not bother with the save transfer as well : P

Oh that and Bloodbourne anyway haha

Tokyo jungle is the game I am most concerned about. I actually have 18 PSM games (had no idea) but I think everything except TJ was a freebie. I will play them all before the deadline and see what is worth keeping besides TJ and possibly rymdkapsel.

Yeah I'm just going to focus on playing those games over the next couple months ago there's no regrets at least. Only paid for TJM (only one I played and is great) but want to play the other ones I got for free through Sony (especially rymdkapsel).

Your out of luck then why digi scares me who knows what the future holds

To be fair PSM uses a terrible DRM authentication set up which is part of why this is a problem in the first place. PSN/XBL stuff doesn't have anything like what they did with PSM and hopefully will be a less awful transition down the road whenever this comes about.

As someone new to the series, I'd love to see the first Hotline Miami on sale today. I'm sure that probably would have happened last week if it were in the cards though.

I need Sony to have some decent sales this week.

Microsoft let us down. They have one deal. GTAV+free bull shark card (which happens to be more than GTAV, lol)

Been watching someone stream FF Type-0 and FFXV demo...so happy I didnt buy it.

I refuse to support a company that lies about a game for years, then only gives the demo to those that buy a $60 REMAKE.  -.-

Also the voices in Type-0 are hilariously bad.

The voice overs are horrible...like annoyingly. The camera is 2 gens ago bad. Other than that, I would wait for a price drop since it will drop fast. The only reason it is $60 is because of the demo inclusion. (I'm more or less upset that they decided to charge $60 for a remake which is asinine and then only include a demo of the much awaited XV. It should be given out for free due to them lying for so long)

I'm dying to play Type-0. Probably won't get a PS4 till next year. Aside from the English voices and the camera, is it otherwise solid?

That doesn't bother me too much then. I play mine with music in the background occasionally anyways. Plus, I need more PS4 games now for remote play. Wife's job is on the same schedule as mine now so I won't play on the TV as much.

My BF Hardline ended up being free fro reward points so why not. If nothing else there's always the FFXV demo

Could always sell the FFXV Demo code for $25-40 on ebay -.-

I keep passing on Master Reboot. I really want to check it out, but I have a strong suspicion that it will be PS+ one day
