:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Not sure if you guys are into buying movies digitally but I noticed Gone Girl and the recent Apes movies were $10 each. Not bad for HD.

That is my only purchase I have planned for my PS4. Now to find $40 more to spend on to get $15 back...

*edit*

Hmm, I wish Uncharted 4 had a release date at least. I know I will be getting that so I could always just preorder that but I don't like doing so SOOO far out.

Otherwise I genuinely cannot find anything else to buy..
What about a year of Plus?

When the critics choice sale started, and I had $12ish in my account, I was thinking maybe Child of Light (probably PS4 version, maybe Vita instead). When the Spend $100 get $15 was announced, I started looking for things to add, like the price on Dragon Age Inquisition is really good, and I wouldn't mind trying Hohokum, and if I hadn't just re-bought Shadow of Mordor physical last week, that'd be a decent price, and I'd buy a year of PS+ to push me over $100. Today the eBay 20% off PSN funds sale happened, and I bought $100 worth for $70 (thanks to a surprise $10 off coupon that was about to expire).

Now that I actually have the PSN funds, I don't think I can bring myself to buy Inquisition digitally for over $30. I know if I am patient, it'll be much cheaper to get it physically in the not-too-distant future. I might still buy Child of Light (I definitely would if it were Cross-buy, but since it isn't, I have to actually make the decision which platform I'd play it on), but I really think my best bet is 2 years of PS+.

Eh, I just hate spending full price on PS+ or Gold. In fact, I never do. And so spending $50 on it seems lame just to get $15 back essentially making it $35 when really here on CAG we can regularly find a Year of PS+ for around $35/$40 anyway.

I'd agree if it was Gold, but other than that one BF with the $30 Plus deal (pretty much everywhere), I don't see a lot of significant PS Plus discounts. Maybe I just haven't been looking. Pretty sure I've seen it for $40, maybe it has hit $35. I got the $100 for $70 (surprise $10 coupon), and I'll get $15 back, making PS+ effectively $27.50 per year. Even without the coupon, 80-15/2 = $32.50 per year is hard to beat. I have PS3/4/Vita, so PS+ is definitely worth it to me, but to each their own, just a suggestion.

Buy the gift card off ebay for $40, purchase PS+ with the $50 in credit to push you over the top, half of the $15 credit for buying $100 is $7.50. So it works out to basically $50 - $10 (savings from the gift card) -$7.50 (half of the $15 credit) = $32.50 for the year of PS+.

Oh dear god, I have 76 titles on my ps4 to complete and that's not including possible purchases from today's sale and the games I still have brand new still in it's wrappings.

Damn you PS+

and TLoU MP

and the CAG Forum

and myself cause I apparently have problems

Yes cause I'm really tired of these dev's making movie games and think they can charge people $60 for it. If you're making a game like this then you need to be charging the price of a blu ray movie, $20. The statement of "normal game length between eight and ten hours" from the studio executive is terrible. Why should any of us pay $60-$80 for a 10 hour game which probably has little replay quality to it? What has happened to games these past years? Full of micro-transactions and DLC crap, and all games that seem to come out are not even finished they are all buggy. The only way Developers Like EA, Ubisoft will learn from there mistakes is by us talking with our wallets and not buying games!!!
This is a terrible analogy.

First off, films have multiple sources of revenue -- theater, then bluray, then netflix/etc, then cable. Games, on the other hand, generally make the vast majority of money they'll ever make release week, though some classics have very long tails. And soon after release week, sales are gutted by the used market, which hits gaming hard and fast (it exists in film too, but not in the same way).

Secondly, the development required for an interactive game is in no way like a film. Like, not even close.

Most importantly, trying to compare a 'cinematic' game that tells an established story with an open ended game is just silly. The reason games like Assassin's Creed and GTA (don't get me wrong, I love GTA and Infamous) feel so long is that they pad the game with relatively simple minigames (be it races/time trials, or collectables, or whatever other 'icons' show up on the minimap).

Stories should be as long as they need to be. I don't even understand what people want anymore -- a game like Uncharted comes out, and people complain there are too many 'shooting galleries' ... well, what do you think that is? It's gameplay. Would The Order suddenly be a better game if they stretched the story out another 2 hours and put in 4 hours more worth of shooting galleries? How does that even make sense?

Is a film better if they fire the editor and let the film run at 4 hours rather than a tidy 90 minutes? Of course not -- each film has a story to tell, and some take longer (or shorter) than others. No different from games.

We should have convinced the devs to throw in 50 fetch quests to pad out The Order so it would deserve a 10/10.

fucking ridiculous. If you don't think a game is worth it, sure, don't buy it. But by your own metric (time), a 6 hour game is 4x as long as a $20 bluray, so it should cost $80, not $60, using stupid math and stupid metrics.

I've got a bit over $94 in my cart (Shadow of Mordor, Never Alone, Danganronpa 2, South Park, and the rest Rock Band DLC) and can't decide whether to get Child of Light or some more Rock Band DLC. Played some of the CoL demo and wasn't that wowed...

Can anyone comment on "Hohokum"? Is it worth it at that price?
I really enjoyed Hohokum... the music and art style is great. It has goals to finish a level but it's fun just to get lost in. I'd recommend it if you like games like Tearaway.

Sorry, if this is slightly OT but generally what is the best place to trade-in games?  Never actually done it and for some reason I can't find a way to search for how much the store is offering (for example, Gamestop).  Was looking to trade-in: DA: I, Destiny, Mordor, Far Cry 4.  Any tips would be appreciated.

It's almost always best to wait for a trade in promotion(preferably from Target or Bestbuy)

Damn this promo is tempting. Id like to grab the Muramasa DLC, DA:I and year of PS+. Wish I could have gotten in on that PSN eBay deal.

Opinions on Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands for a person who hasn't even finished season 1 of the show, and played maybe 2 hours of borderlands 2?

I do plan on playing The Handsome Collection and finishing the show at some point, but at $44 for every game (I do already own TWD2 on ps4 & TWAU on ps3) its the same price as just buying TFTB & GOT and I can finish TWAU on ps4

Has anyone purchased a non-accidental protection plan and can speak to the service levels it offers? Debating on getting one for my ps4 as part of the $15 off $100 promo

Never watched GoT and bought the season pass back with the 10% coupon. Anyways the game is worth it imo, I love what I played in Episode 1 and 2. The game pushed me to want to watch the series. I have HBO Go, so I WILL be going through the show soon.

I bought TotB back when the SP was like $17 or something like that. I really like the Borderlands games and I will be getting the Handsome Collection on launch. I thought this game was Meh though, it had some good funny parts in it. Hopefully it will pick up though and get better.

Waiting for Trade in promos anymore is basically pointless, the retailers have finally wised up and begun to drop the base trade values of games when they run a special promo so unless it is a brand spanking new game like with dying light when target was doing its double trade in credit promo usually waiting for a promo is only going to net you maybe an extra dollar or two more trade in then what you can currently get at best buy not to mention, by the time you wait around for a promo the value could have already dropped anyways so seeing as how DA:I and SoM are going for 25 and 19 now @ best buy id do it if you wanna go digital

If you don't really care, then just hit up one of the obvious ones and take whatever they offer you.

If you want 'relatively easy' and don't mind shipping things, sell on Amazon used. You'll need to ship things out, but I think, overall, it provides the best 'time to dollar' ratio (excepting crazy flips people manage to pull off doing trade ins, but that requires paying attention).

You can list an item on amazon in under a minute, and will get a fair value if you price to match condition (just match the lowest price for the given condition, don't beat it). Amazon takes a hefty amount, but I still end up using it over following trade in values.

If you're a fan of the Borderlands style of humor, you'll love Tales. Personally, I really enjoyed Episode 1 and would put it up there with my favorite parts from Walking Dead. It is a game that made me actually laugh out loud.

Not to rain on you guys parade, but I think you're not saving as much money as you could when you're buying these games on release only to trade them in for 'not as much as you paid' then buying it on digital again.

How is this even possible?

You have HBO but didn't watch GoT? I don't even.

I only have HBO Go because HBO is part of my cable package. I honestly was never interested in the show to begin with anyways. Yea I saw the praise and stuff it was getting but still nada. Played the game on 360(Atlas) though, it was bad haha. Telltale game convinced me. I'll give the show a shot though, I promise.

Since we talking about HBO, S2 True Detective hurry the fuck up.

In for a digital copy of Digital Devil Saga, such an amazing game.  I just wish I could play it on my Vita somehow.  That and Nocturne would be incredible on the go.

Anyone have any recommendations as far as the lesser-known PSP RPGs go?  Thinking about picking one of the $5 ones up.  Yggdra Union, Ragnarok Tactics, Riviera: The Promised Land.. these all look pretty interesting at a glance.

Yggdra Union is a must if you like SRPGs. It has an interesting card-based mechanic and team-up ("unions") and a nice story. Riviera is just an OK RPG with a simplistic battle system and a story that's as run-of-the-mill as you can get, but I found it enjoyable other than the annoying preponderance of QTEs.

So I just bought a bunch of ps4 titles. Only got about 40gb left on my hard drive. How big of a hard drive can the ps4 support? Any recommendations?
