:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Original game soundtrack has not been released on vinyl or any other format that I'm aware of. I bought the HM2 vinyl that came with a download code for the game and off Steam. I'm not a PC guy so I gave the code out on Twitter but I would have waited a month if it meant I could get the game for PS4/Vita instead. The soundtrack is just as good as the first game though and I'm a sucker for limited edition, high quality vinyl.
Ok, that's what I thought. I've listened to the soundtrack on SoundCloud a couple times, I'm surprised the soundtrack never got a full release. The vinyl is definitely tempting, especially for the artwork included.

Saw this on reddit:

New, daily update policy for PSN! Are, "Tuesday Updates," a thing of the past?

This will lead to the same behavior we have in PC land

Purely digital titles (generally indie) can release whenever (but generally not Friday or weekends so that quick fixes can be made if an exploit is found). Titles with a strong physical presence will still have a Tuesday release for the purpose of the brick and mortar stores.

And a lot of games will still do Tuesday for the sake of having the best possible first week sales figures.

Citizens of Earth should have a new update out right now that addresses the crashing issues, adds a retro/chiptunes soundtrack option, Cross Save support and better Remote Play support, and the Vita version now has PSTV compatibility.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/04/16/second-person-shooter-screencheat-coming-to-ps4/

Screencheat is coming to the PS4. It's a split-screen multiplayer FPS where everybody is invisible, so you have to look at the other screens to figure out where they're at. It supports up to four players locally and up to eight online along with a mix of both based on whatever your set-up can handle.

Super Time Force Ultra is getting Journey and The Order characters to go along with Shuhei Yoshida:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av2SGoGAk_w

It's supposed to be out soon for PS4/Vita with Cross Buy support and a Platinum trophy.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/04/16/trans-galactic-tournament-free-to-play-moba-action-on-ps4/

Trans-Galactic Tournament is a free-to-play MOBA that is coming soon to PS4:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ce26jmayO7E

PS+ members get free, exclusive content. They're charging for early access to champions, but they have one free champion that rotates out every week along with the ability to earn the in-game currency to permanently unlock them.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/04/16/hollowpoint-high-intensity-co-op-on-ps4/

Hollowpoint is a new PS4 game from Ruffian Games (Crackdown 2) that is coming later this year. It sounds like a more tactical version of Crash Commando as a four-player co-op shooter. This looks to be another game from the partnership with Paradox, with Magicka 2 being the first.

An update on Shadow of the Beast for PS4. Seems like we'll get more of a look at it at E3.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/04/16/everybodys-gone-to-the-rapture-new-trailer-song-debut/

A new trailer for Everybody's Gone to the Rapture:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIWdbibONxg

They've finished the soundtrack and include a song at the end of the post to listen to. They're announcing a release date soon, so it seems like it'll be out this summer since the Youtube video has that in the title.

Hard to tell what Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is going to be, but it looks far different than the original teaser.  Either way can't wait to check it out.

I guess I'll go with gentlyporking here. With a name like gentlyporking, it has to be good.

Actually, I had no idea either of those games were games.
Escapists is straight-up busted. It's meant to be a prison escape sim but the AI constantly glitches out, and other than roll calls the guards don't care if you just go around the prisons and do whatever. It usually amounts to just grinding out intelligence/strength/speed points all day, attending roll calls when they happen, and hoping that the AI doesn't decide it hates you -- because once it does, they will just constantly attack you every time they see you, and you can't do shit about it. If you attack back, the guards will subdue you, so you have to just take the lumps and hope either your weird auto-retaliate damage (idk what that's about) or the guards will take them out before they knock you out.

As an example of the bizarre AI, if another inmate knocks out a guard, and you take his key, even if nobody could possibly see it, within seconds they will know it was you and you're sent to solitary. You're not even frisked, you can't stash it in your cell or anything. Just instant solitary. That is fucked. You need to have a mold on your person when you grab the key in order to duplicate it and then quickly put it back.

The crafting system is also borderline psychotic (so I can use a razor and a comb to make a shiv, but not a razor and a toothbrush? Or a spoon?), and while it has some cool ideas (like putting sheets on your cell bars to hide your escape tunnel you're making) the terrible UI and general brokenness ruin it.

Prison Architect is pretty cool, and if this was a more direct inverse to that, it would be better.

I have to disagree. I enjoyed The Escapists because it was pretty cool to have this sort of weird survival/crafting game that was more structured in terms of what you could do to make it out of each prison. The major issue I had is that the game didn't take a page out of Minecraft's book and give you all of the crafting recipes upfront, so you're expected to either guess or do whatever is required to "learn" them or just use the wiki that makes it easy to figure that stuff out.

The instant hate thing kind of sucked, but if you build up your speed, you can just run towards a guard, let them hit you, and they'll beat him down. Or you can just keep running and they'll give up after a bit. You can definitely earn favor with them to get back to a neutral state with those people with a daily bump and by giving them nice stuff (noted in the wiki) whenever they become a merchant. It isn't much of a problem later on in a session.

The guard thing was also an annoyance the first time I tried to figure out what to do in that instance, but you're supposed to make putty and melted plastic, then knockout the guard, make a copy, and put it back and get out with no real issues there. That's what was a big focus for a bit of my time in the second prison. There are also other means of getting out like tunneling out of your cell or digging through the walls, though I'm sure people have made FAQs for getting out in a day or two.

I thought the UI was pretty good on Xbox One, though the PC version is oddly very different and looked much, much worse. It definitely takes some time to figure out certain parts of it because they obviously don't explain anything.

If anybody here wants to see the game in action, I made a video of the Xbox One version a few months ago that should be a good beginner's guide to what's going on with that game.

Yeah if you have to use a wiki to figure out how to craft stuff since more logical combinations won't work, there's something very wrong. Sure, make nunchucks out of two timbers (which are used to make underground support structures, so I would think they're huge?) and a wire. Why not.

And yes, I will admit the UI is better on Xone, the PC one is a total disaster, but it still has issues with combining several actions into one button, which can cause some really bad stuff to go down when you don't want to. It's really weird how they just ignore most of the buttons on the controller for no apparent reason.

Also I would try letting the guards take them down, but the guards are also really slow, and seem to have trouble hitting moving inmates, so most of the time i had to just stand still until they could take care of it. I know you're supposed to be able to make them like you again, but I can't trade with them once they're hostile, so I wasn't sure what the proper COA (course of action) was there. Even so, I would give guys some really dope shit and it barely raised their influence bar or whatever.

I'll admit the later prisons are much more interesting, when you can do stuff like make a raft to escape, but it's such a slog to get to that point that I can't recommend it. The earlier ones still have options like tunnelling out, but it's usually just a waste of time since the crafting system is so obtuse and your digging tools have durability, so you end up constantly running around looking in everyones desks for materials. And, of course, the materials that are seeded are random so sometimes you just have no real options other than getting swole as hell and punching out all the guards. Which is the most effective method anyway so whatever.

As I said, I really like the concept, but the execution is botched so hard that I can't possibly recommend it. The art is also the epitome of Lazy Pixel Art, it just looks like stuff ripped out of an old version of RPG Maker.

Riddick is a far better prison escape game.

I am really hoping the flash sale includes the Dynasty Warrior Gundam games. I think only reborn was on psn store though and the rest are phsyical, but I would really want to play it. They are the only ones from the series I really want to play since I think Gundam is pretty cool.

I am hoping for a good sale on Ninja Gaiden. I always wanted to get into the series, so if they are $1 - $2.50 I will buy them. I am just hoping they don't just put them all up for $5.

If it's not on the PSN store it won't be on past of the sale no matter how much you want it. ;)

Was already confirmed on Twitter that the series was part of it, wouldn't expect DLC though since DLC rarely goes on sale these days. If the whole sale is over priced DW and NG games that will be a disappointment.
Could you define overpriced for NG? I just recently got a PS3, and haven't looked into historical/habitual lows for most games yet.

More expensive then 90% off, something like that. 99 cents or GTFO.

$5 would probably be a good sale on them though. We'll probably end up with them and the old DW games being $10 or something dumb.

Who tweeted about this, btw? Start time?

If there's no Gaiden DLC (what better time to have a rare sale than during a flash sale?)  then maybe just Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z if it's under $10.

I'll buy sigma 2 plus if it goes on sale for the vita. As it stands, NGS and NGS2 are $8.

They're worth that, I guess, if you don't have an xbox to play ninja Gaiden black and ninja Gaiden 2 on

I am really hoping the flash sale includes the Dynasty Warrior Gundam games. I think only reborn was on psn store though and the rest are phsyical, but I would really want to play it. They are the only ones from the series I really want to play since I think Gundam is pretty cool.
Reborn is fun, but when I play it I get nostalgia and start to regret selling the first two DW:G games. Reborn also seems to have added a bit of a grind for various unlocks, so if you are looking for a more straightforward experience I'd say go for either the first or second game and pick up Reborn later just to try it out.

I might be mistaken, but Ratchet: Deadlocked is the remake with a full trophy list since it is listed as a "PSN Game" rather than a "PS2 Classic", right? If it is the remake, then I'll certainly be buying it

What will it take to get a sale on the first Shank?  Shake 2 is all lonely on my Xbox; I don't want my PS3 to suffer the same fate.

Thanks for the info. Not much on the Vita front, though. (Can you imagine how much more appealing the system would be if it could run PS2 games as well?)

Anyone know if buying Thieves in Time will get you access to the Vita version as well? I know that's how that worked with the physical version of the game.

Anyone remember which Contra is the good one?  I remember one being meh, and not hard, and one that was really good but really really hard (I think the former is Neo and the latter is Shattered Soldier, but I'm not sure), I'm going to get at least one Contra, Touch my Katamari, and maybe the episodes of Sonic the Hedgehog 4

I'm tempted by Galaxy Switch Ultra, but I'm trying to realistically decide how much I'd play it. Even at $4.20 I'd rather not buy a game that I won't actually play.

Shattered Soldier is the tough one, that's sorta like an old-school Contra game with newer grittier graphics. Neo is an easier game, and I think parts of it were more of an isometric shooter?

And then there's Contra Uprising which isn't on sale, but back to the side-scroller style.

You're correct on both counts, although I would argue that Neo is still a good game, even if it's not up there with the best the Contra series has to offer, and certainly not as difficult either. I haven't played it in years, but I remember it being pretty entertaining, with some ridiculous (in a good way) characters, bosses, and stages, and the soundtrack is fantastic!

I'd be in for both Contra games myself if I didn't already have PS2 copies. Even then, it's still tempting. We'll see if I cave before this sale is over.

Any thoughts on the following games? I'm interested in buying:

Alien Rage

Blood of the Werewolf

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armaggedon

Enemy Front

The Warriors

And here are some thoughts on the rest of some of the Flash sale list:

Hotline Miami and Retro City Rampage bored me. Retro City was especially disappointing with its "blink and you miss it" game references. Too bad gameplay was too repetitive for me to enjoy them.

I love Stealth Inc. A Clone In The Dark. It's like Super Meat Boy (minus the blood) where you try to reach the exit in each room- whether it's jumping over obstacles, releasing switches, hacking computers, or using the shadows of objects wisely to pass obstacles in each room.  If and when I get a PS4, I'm buying it once again with no hesitations.

Don't let Thomas Was Alone's graphics fool you into thinking it's cheap. It's actually a nice platformer that can get really hard at times.

Unlike Lone Survivor. That game is just weird and is more frustrating than Stealth Inc.  It probably looks better on Vita.

Hmmmm pay $6.00 on PS3 for Army of Two or pay $0.00 on Xbox 360?  I still need to check it out but I get the feeling this game will be like Call of Juarez (if so, that's a good thing).

Batman is Batman. Moving on ...

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the only Battlefield game I like.    It was free on Xbox 360 months ago, but I eventually bought it on disc since the file size was over 6 GB.  The comedy on the first game didn't work for me but it did here (maybe because it's sparse).  In a way, the finale is like a setup for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.    If you have enough space on your hard drive, check it out.

I don't like Devil May Cry, yet I liked Bayonetta. I wonder what she has that Dante doesn't?  :ahem:

Beyond Good And Evil and Bloodrayne didn't work for me.  Another example of good looking games with controls I didn't like.

Harmony of Despair looks like SotN, but it doesn't move as fast. As anyone ever beaten a level in this game? I've reached the first boss but I always run out of time. Plus, I can never find someone online who wants to play.

Closure is the perfect game to play in the dark.   Great style of graphics, music, and a great sense of accomplishment when you solve a puzzle that you've been stuck on for long periods of time. There are many times where I actually got scared while playing this game (especially during water levels).  Like Limbo meets Tales From The Dark Side. No blood required.

If you like God of War, then check out Dante's Inferno.   Does anyone prefer Dante's Inferno over the GoW games?

I put in over 40 hours on the first Dead Island. Riptide looks like more of the same.   Yum.

I wish I didn't get Double Dragon Neon for free. If my Plus subscription expires, I can't play it and have a good laugh at this cheesiness. Screw Co-Op, this game has Bro-Op. High Five!

And let's not forget the music:

Yikes! I typed more than I thought I was going to.  I'll add more game comments on another post.
