What are peoples thoughts on Yakuza 4? The more I read into it the more and more I'm interested. I'm a huge fan of story-heavy games but that 21GB download is less than ideal and I've never been the biggest fan of pure beat-em-up games, although I did have one that I absolutely adored when I first got my PS2 called "The Bouncer" so if Y4 anything like that I may just have to scoop it up.

 
Anyone else suddenly out of nowhere unable to buy anything off PSN? It used to work without a problem but now I'm getting error e-82000171 every time I try with credit card or paypal.

Most likely old news but PS+ Japan got :ps4: Guilty Gear xrd Sign, lucky mofos. I really want that game, doubt we get that too but it would be awesome if we did.

Trying think should I get Tales of Hearts R or wait til it's cheaper. Currently playing Tales of the Abyss so I'm on back on my Tales high. Is Tales of Hearts R any good? I see it has mixed reviews.

I personally liked Abyss better even though the protagonist grates at the beginning of the game. Tales games seem to go on sale fairly regularly, so if you can stand to wait, I'd guess it will be cheaper.

Thanks a lot. I'll wait though. I already have a gang of RPGs in the backlog and Tales games always drop below $10. I can wait a little longer. Looks like I'll get Mind Zero and VC II.

 
I grabbed How To Survive & Hand Of Fate from the flash sale; I was going to buy the GoT season pass as well, but it turns out I must have already bought it at some point. 

It did prompt me to download the other episodes I hadn't noticed yet.

The Yakuza games are great but I wouldn't sacrifice 20 gb for a PS3 download. The disc versions aren't that expensive.

The fighting is only a part of the experience. I remember beating the first two games on PS2 and getting about halfway through the third on PS3, but there were a lot of side missions. I own Yakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls on disc but I refuse to play them until I beat the third game. I suppose I should get back to it someday soon.

It should be noted that today is the 5th anniversary of Playstation Plus. Here's to hoping we get a PS+ birthday sale tomorrow.

 
Driveclub is -awesome-.   It took me maybe an hour or so to get used to the game, since I'm used to pure arcade racers and this is a hybrid... but holy damn once it 'clicked' it was clear it was worth the wait, and I wish I had just bought it earlier because i'm sure I'm buying it now.

Why isn't is clicking for me? What is making it work for you? I want to like Driveclub, but I keep feeling like I'm missing something with this game. It's like there's a missing menu or context or something.

Think that was one of the original criticisms of the game was the lack of cohesiveness to the entire game. It's just like race after race via the menu.

I tried the PS+ version and really wanted to like it but going back to something like Forza Horizon 2 and it just seems so blah. Great graphics but difficult to get into or feel any sense of connection to the game. Just my 2 cents.

Let me jump in to help out. I had problems at first when I bought it. I'm not sure exactly what you're problem is, but I had to change the steering from analog stick to dpad. That helped me get a feel on how much I was steering. Oversteering is/was a huge problem for me. Another thing is to watch the flags before turns. On red flags, I slam on breaks earlier than the ai, get my car turned and then speed through. This works really well with an Audi, but I still can't drive the Ferrari worth a crap.

It seems like the Driveclub events are easier than the rookie/tutorial ones for some reason. You just have to get the feel for the car you're driving, use your brakes and learn the tracks. It also helps to give a little peek on the minimap. Don't go into every race trying to win, there's other things to do besides win and if you do the other things, winning will come. I went from my best finish being 10th to having won 5 or 6 races in a row. One last point, screw drifting.

Ok, not sure if this is a glitch or what's going on but here it goes... I was looking through the Sonic & Friends sale page deciding on some things when I noticed it showed Yakuza 4 as purchased. I never purchased the game though. I double checked my transaction history and my confirmation emails just to be sure. I clicked on the game page and it showed a sale price of $5.99 but then I saw a link directly below it to download to PS3. I pushed it to the front of the queue, turned on my PS3, and... Bam, there it is.

I'm wondering if this is happening with anyone else? CAGs, check the webstore!

Wasn't Yakuza 4 a PS Plus freebie? Maybe that's why it shows up as purchased for you.
 
Yakuza 4 indeed was a PS+ freebie.  I wonder if folks just forgot because they didn't know what Yakuza was?

It's weird to think people don't know what Yakuza is... but so good that they are finding out before Yakuza 5 comes out.

I'm here for the sales news.  Hopefully it'll be a good week but if not I have so much to play it's crazy.

I just finished rain and am working on I Am Alone when not giving Race The Sun and Daytona USA some quick playtime.  Rain was really good, heck lovely even.  Just what I needed with environmental puzzles.  Maybe a bit on the medium to easy side but I don't want every game to be punishing.   I Am Alone so far is pretty fantastic.  I like the world and all the climbing/parkour and the decision making for when you face other people.  I'm not deep into it yet but I am so glad I researched it as it's definitely my kind of game.

Yep, for me it was paying attention to the flags.

Green = no need to break, full throttle turn.

Yellow = slight break

Red = hairpin alert

Once I started really paying attention to that, it knocked all my arcade drifting sensibilities out of my head and I started taking turns the way the game wanted me to. And then I fell in love with the game.

I don't have any issue with the way races are presented. It's a racing game, not all of them need to be open world/etc.

Well that explains it, I completely forgot it was a PS+ title. I've known about the Yakuza series for a while but I never got around to actually playing any of them. My gaming time is extremely limited these days but I look forward to finally trying out Yakuza 4... just waiting for this massive 22 gb file to finish downloading.
