:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Anyone play Beach Buggy Racing? Reviews say lagging control, but that could have been fixed. Seems like something the kids would enjoy.
Anyone recommend Beach Buggy Racing? I remember being interested before it came out but then lost interest for some reason.

Edit: Sorry, the post above me wasn't there when I started typing this.
I have on :xb1: and greatly enjoy it. It is fun without being overly challenging. It is somewhat Mario Kart like; and, I dont know about lagging controls, it felt fine for me.

For sure grabbing:

Kung Fu Rabbit

Strider 2

Prinny

Prinny 2

Considering:

Phantom Brave - Have it on Wii but it's $2

Cladun - Seems decent...

Cladun x2 - But do I but just one or both?

Element4l - Looks neat

OMG HD Zombies - No idea what this is but it has decent reviews and is $1?

Gravity Crash Ultra - Again, no idea about this game but looks neat at a glance

Grimgrimoire - Supposed to be good but will I ever actually play it?

Legasista - Probably too much

getting flying hamster for my pstv because it's under a buck. And the plus games.

Thinking about Prinny. Does anyone recommend 1 or 2 and why?

If i can pick up a discounted psn card or two I'll probably get the disgaea series, dragonropas, and the hyperdementias that i don't have yet. Then I'll cry as I'll never beat them all.

I have Dawn of Operation Panties Dood! for my PSP. This game will BREAK you. Doesn't matter if you set it to baby mode; there are still parts that require perfect memorization of the stage. There's a reason you're given a thousand lives... you will need them.

And yes, Prinny 2 replaces your hit points with diapers if you play it in the easy mode. Yeah, screw you too, game.

Bummer. Seems a bit misleading to leave the price there, in that case. Anyone who sees it today (or later) and didn't preorder it will be annoyed when they see the real price.

Guess I'll be waiting for a sale.
It's a fun game so far. Glad I pre-ordered it. Its been up for several weeks. For sure pick it up when it goes on sale, most likely during black friday.

Also everyone picking up danganronpa 1/2 you will NOT be disappointed in the slightest. Both games play excellent on PSTV as well.

I can't think of a reason to get Demon Gaze at $20 when EO4 and EOU1 are regularly $15.

Upset no God Eater sale.

People sleep on Pac Man Museum but it's a solid collection. If you don't enjoy Pac Man you are a loser. Ms. Pac Man is DLC though and most of the rest of the games are period pieces you just play so you can recognize THE BEST LEVEL FROM SMASH WIIU. It's still worth the asking price just for original Pac Man and Pac Man CE. People keep saying Pac Man CE DX is "better" but it really does something far, far different from Pac Man CE. They can't be easily compared.

I played Prinny 1 and 2 once. Solid games but they gave me my first vidya induced wrist injury and I put them down ever since.

Who? Me? It was clearly listed under pre-orders for the past few weeks and I removed it while updating the OP, so I'd hope nobody would have been under the assumption that it would keep going after launch with the red X also signifying that it was ending today.

Sounds frustrating. Maybe I'll skip it.

Prinny 1 is pretty manageable if you just play the stages from hardest to easiest. Since every stage gets harder as the game goes on, playing stages in descending difficulty order keeps things attainable.

I don't think it's as brutal as a cheeseball indie game. if Prinny truly were that irritating I would not have beaten as much of them as I did. I don't think I completed either game all the way, just about 90%, except for the Asagi route in Prinny 2 which has you playing as a different character with guns and unique story+bosses.

Cladun 1 & 2 are solid action RPGs. If u like those, u will like legasista as they are very similar both in gameplay and in concept... Just on PS3. Definitely recommend cladun games. Legasista is more of the same. $8 is not too bad considering it has never gone on sale before.

Thoughts on ironclad tactics anyone? Looking to get this one and crimson land.

I love the Disgaea series and have spent unreasonable numbers of hours with them. Afternoon of Darkness is a classic. The later games have more mechanics, some of which are pretty great, but the first is a lot of fun and still my favorite story. Go for it.

Well I picked up both danganronpa games. What are disagea games like? I haven't played a single one.
As mentioned Disgaea is great, but a warning for those of you with OCD, this game will kill you! Just lvling characters alone is time consuming because it has a system where you can reset your characters over and over again after gaining lvls to improve their base stats and make them better and better. But the real thing that screws with you is the item world. In this game every item can basically become a dungeon. You can 'dive' into them to improve their stats. If i remember every item has 100 floors you can clear. That would be fine in itself but they also have things on them called specialists. When your diving in an item if you find one of these guys and beat them, the stat or ability they boost becomes an orb that you can them move OFF that item to other items at will. You can also combine them and mix and match them. Now take into account that this applies to ALL items. Not just weapons and armor. Friggin basic healing items like bubble gum have these specialists you can capture. So for me i would keep like every garbage item and do at least a few floors to get a specialist i wanted... boost HP, or XP gain or something. take it off, sell the item, combine them into huge piles, rinse repeat. I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on the original Disgaea

VERY very bad game for the OCD crowd unless you love that kind of thing. And i only really played the earlier few games. i stopped enjoying at after 3. I hear the item world and junk got even more intricate later on. I should play the later ones at some point though i hear it kinda turned around after 4

Oh, and Prinny is a good game. I didn't get to play it much because my psp started having that problem where it asks 'do you want to eject the disk' and on an action game like that it made it unplayable. I never figured out how to fix that

Congrats Kenshindono I think you officially scared me off from Disgaea for a good century,

Who has enough time for all that? :O

Backlog is already ridiculous as it is.

Any reviews of the Castle Game? Can't find anything online at all, even Metacritic.
You mean Castlestorm? It's pretty fun, especially these "premium" editions (the game has had F2P versions on both mobile and consoles). It's basically castle defense but with a lot more to it than typical games in the genre. All kinds of spells, control over a hero, etc.

If you're downloading it with PS+, no reason to not check it out.

Recommendations from what I've played from this sale:

Awesomenauts Assemble! - Side-scrolling MOBA that is one of the best for newbies to get into with a simple control scheme and more manageable level design. It includes a bunch of new characters and such over the PS3 version. I'm not sure how active the online community is at this point.

Costume Quest 2 - Solid sequel to the original. The main differences is that the battle system has just one type of minigame for all party members rather than unique minigames for each costume and everybody has the roller shoes so you can more easily get around quickly without limiting your costume variety.

Crimsonland - Excellent dual-stick shooter that plays better than it looks with a ton of single-player levels to unlock weapon power-ups, several challenge levels for leaderboard domination, and it even offers co-op if you want that. It also has separate trophy lists for all three versions.

Enslaved: Journey to the West - Great B-tier action game that follows in the footsteps of Ninja Theory's other games in terms of likeable characters, great cutscene animations, and solid combat. The story is a post-post-apocalypse version of Journey to the West (Dragon Ball's inspiration).

Flying Hamster HD - Solid side-scrolling shooter featuring extremely cute visuals and some neat power-ups. It's kind of hard, but seemed like the sort of thing that gets easier with more repetition.

Gravity Crush Ultra - Only played the original on PS3, but this is a great homage to classic arcade games like Gravitar with a similar vector art style that looks great in action.

Kung Fu Rabbit - Solid platformer with a ton of levels and a separate trophy list for both versions. Save your carrots for the 100 carrot item that lets you kill enemies from any direction to let you move through levels with a little more reckless abandon than is necessary.

Men's Room Mayhem - It's Flight Control, but with men that need to pee in a British bathroom or whatever dumb word they have for it.

OMG HD Zombies! - Fantastic puzzle game that originated on the PSP as a Minis title and it's gotten an HD remaster for Vita. You play as a sniper perched above a crowd of zombies below and you have to figure out the best shots to make to take out as many zombies as you can in each level. You earn money to upgrade your shots against the various types of zombies, which makes earlier levels easier to get gold or platinums on.

Road Not Taken - Really good roguelike puzzle game where you move things around to create new items or get rid of obstacles as you search for lost kids in the woods. There's an interesting minimalist story you get as you progress through seasons in regards to relationships with the townsfolk and how well you do in rescuing the kids. It's made for repeat playthroughs as you experiment with the crafting to get more unlockables to change up your future attempts. This was a PS+ title when it launched on PS4.

Spelunker HD - Good, old school platformer based on the original Spelunker that is unapologetically hard so you die on fairly short drops and in the many traps its levels contain.

Tennis in the Face - Mobile port of a physics puzzler like Angry Birds, but with a better sense of humor as you take out hipsters, cops, and plenty of other stereotypes as your tennis player goes on a rampage.

Castle game? Never even heard of it. Guess it's a new release?

The Castle Game

Spelunker goes back to whatever ancient crap came before the NES and Spelunker HD is an unapologetic remake keeping all the characteristic fruity quirky platforming. It's stiff, robotic, and hard to get through. It doesn't even have to do a lot to cheese you. One bat enemy and a small pit and a few bouncy trip pads are all you need when you die instantly for falling any height higher than your knee.

Definitely worth a try if you like the idea of it as a museum piece updated to be slightly less frustrating than the original without losing the unique character of the original but I doubt you'll beat it or get too far in it. I don't regret what I spent on it.

Yeah, I had to go and search it because I've never even heard of it.

General rule of thumb with anything like that: if it doesn't have reviews don't buy it.  Deserving small games that no one's ever heard of still manage to get enough coverage for you to know it's good these days.  If you've never heard of it and there's no coverage there's usually a good reason.

As the ONLY person on Steam who has posted a review of An Assassin In Orlandes, positive OR negative, I actually disagree with you on that observation*. The rule of thumb is strong, but deserving small games can very easily avoid good coverage unless you're feverishly following me every time I wrench the sales topic to talk about one of my pet games, and even I don't have enough time and energy to follow that.

That said, I still agree with the general suggestion because, hell, there is a lot more trash out there than gold. A LOT.

*Actually that example is self defeating as numerous reviews of the iphone versions abound.

Agreed with your observations on Disgaea. Are you running custom firmware on your PSP? You might be able to "fix" it by installing one. PM me if you want details :)

With Submerged, Galak-Z, and Rare Replay being the biggest releases of this week along with coverage of The International dominating news, I can easily see that many sites just overlook a game like The Castle Game that has zero hype because of the generic name and the fact that the developers haven't really pushed that game hard/well enough to get it at least some attention. The fact that you haven't heard of it is exactly why nobody's reviewed it yet.

Flying hamster HD does not work on VITA TV
I appreciate you posting that. I hadn't looked it up yet myself but I took the time to download the iOS version (which I must have got free at some point) to give it a try and looking it up was the next step as it seemed decent fun.

Its silly this game isn't compatible though. On ios it just uses basic movement of a virtual stick and two virtual buttons. It must be one of those things where the dev doesn't care much anymore to mark it compatible and update it. Though it is odd there is also a $2.99 non-HD mini version that says it's compatible with PS3/PSP/PSVita ... which makes me wonder if it could be side loaded from a PS3.

Anyone looking for another list besides frisky's for checking PSTV compatibility for NA releases, this has become the main one I look at as it's the most up to date list out there and quick to load.

http://vitareviews.net/playstation-tv-compatible-games-north-america/

Frisky's does a better job of saying how it's compatible (like if you need to download to PS3 and then transfer)... but this one shows more compatible current games like La-Mulana EX and the formatting doesn't go all wonky further down the page. So both are very useful for looking this stuff up.

Still on Flying Hamster HD and the mini Flying Hamster non-hd game, both are on the EU VitaPlayer.co.uk's compatibility list as being compatible.

http://www.vitaplayer.co.uk/list-of-playstation-tv-compatible-games/

Granted that's a different region, but still, it makes me wonder if this really isn't at all in any way compatible. I read a thread by a guy that tested the mini version in the US and verified it did work though it's on no ones lists. I'm not going to buy the mini version though just because a big part of my interest was the $0.80 price tag... so while typing this and researching I figured what the heck I'll just buy the HD version. It'll be a fun little diversion when I get my Vita. I'll still try to side load it to my PSTV... though I'm sure it'll come back as not compatible.

I can confirm that that is indeed a rumor that you heard.

or i just suck at english grammar?

Stealth Inc. 2 is awesome. The first game was good, but the second is just a total blast. Love the Metroidvania approach and the dark sense of humor is even funnier in the sequel. Glad this was in this month's PS+ lineup.

Still have yet to try Temple of Orsis....been spending too much time with Rare Replay.

its the later model one i belive, not the 1000 that does the custom firmware easily. That cool black and red god of war one. I think the 'do you want to eject the umd' is something physical with the system. I found a lot of threads of people complaining about it but no real solutions. I think it has something to do with the crappy mechanism they have to close the latch or somethinng. Honestly mine did it kinda from the start but i didn't use it for the first few months when i bought it so by the time i got around to using it i couldn't exchange it
