There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

The title sounded awesome and made me think of all sorts of crazy shit with Hulk fighting people in space. Then I read the description and see it is just some strategy game.
Figures that normal price for Grow Home is the cheapest of the three games we voted on.
Well the PC version has been out for awhile and its $5 so it shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Funny that the discount price for Armello/Zombie Vikings is higher than Grow Home's full price. This is part of why I didn't vote once I lost some interest in Armello, had no idea what the prices would be.

What kind of sucks too is that, unless you have a PS3 and are getting Twisted Metal, everything else thus month is some variation of a platformer. I like platformers but we get so many of them so this month kinda blows in that regard.

I would say the willingness of the player to indulge the story was precisely what Kojima played with in MGS2, shattering his universe and the player's expectations, and yanking the player around like the player was a puppy on a leash worked by an asshole, all to make some really asinine and elementary statements about media control.

Anyone who survived MGS2 has every right to not want to indulge Kojima's storytelling.

That said, you're on the money. In my experience, all of the important information and emotional weight tends to be kept within each game. You really do not need prior experience to make sense of everything.

I mean, hell, having played Peace Walker before playing GZ would only highlight that GZ must have been written after Kojima went off his meds as he immediately went for rape and torture of the two loveable comic relief sweethearts from PW. War has changed indeed, because Kojima suddenly decided war wasn't the schlocky comedy it was in PW.
MGS2 was actually my first Metal Gear Solid game. I thought it was brilliant, but I'm also the type that enjoys fiction that challenges expectations or the audience's assumptions on what a thing has to be.

Now to be clear, I'm not making a value judgement on whether or not a person enjoys or understands, or even cares about, the story. Some people are going to be more receptive towards different things, and it's up to the individual to decide what they should be getting out of any given experience.

I was only pointing out that we are often our own worst enemies when it comes to accepting anything, and MGS asks quite a lot of you to get the most out of it. It isn't that surprising when someone decides gameplay is enough. By knowing it is a choice, we can reaffirm or change it.

As for the change in tone between Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes, I can sort of respect what he is trying to do. Video game stories tend to play things pretty safe, and seldom deal in things that make people feel uncomfortable, which I feel like they need to be able to do if anyone ever actually wants to consider them art.

I was thinking these things, and then actually played Ground Zeroes and realized I didn't actually like it (the darker aspects of the story). I found this to be amusing, because of course I wouldn't. According to my own argument, the game has to make me feel uncomfortable on some level, and I was just too far up my own ass to remember that being depressed sucks. :D

The darker aspect isn't completely unprecedented though. A lot of people bemoaned the nanomachine tour bus constantly being interrupted by tortured Beast unit tragedy monologues in MGS4, for example.

Bring back the PSP fighting games!

People are dumb, go figure.
Oh I don't know. You guys are very good at saving money on video games, which already puts you in a different state of mind than people who just want to play them.

From that perspective, it doesn't matter how much you are theoretically saving if you are never going to want to play the game. In this case it makes more sense to save $8 on something you will play than to save $15 on something you will not.

Edit: I do sympathize though. I also play games on my PC, and could get Grow Home even cheaper from there, while Armello isn't even available yet (as far as I can tell).

I'm waiting for that PLAY 2015 10% off code to come Tuesday so I can get MGSV and maybe MAD MAX. But I have serious FOMO about not being able to pre-load.

Armello's been out on Steam for a while as an Early Access title. With the launch coming in a few days, they've pulled it so they can have a proper launch for the 1.0 release.

Just some strategy game that has a cult following since 1989, has had multiple board game editions, several PC games, a playstation game and exists in an incredible science fiction universe that has spawned a multitude of other games, books, magazines, comics, video games, etc.... I swear I'm not a fan boy and I know nothing about the new game.

It is kind of a rip off of Aliens though. Or a re-imagining of Aliens with better equipped marines.

Ah that makes sense, thanks. I could have sworn it was purchasable when I first looked it up a week or two ago, and wasn't sure if I was just misremembering.

Halfway through getting the platinum for Grim Fandango.

I can honestly say if it wasn't for the games humor and an online walkthrough I probably would of gotten frustrated to the point of quitting.

Even with a guide there were a few times I got confused.

None the less, I am glad I'm finally experiencing the game's story and humor. I've heard so much about this game since it's release back in 98.
Back then, we didn't have internet guides for everything, and most people didn't have massive backlogs on multiple devices, nor trophies/achievements pushing them onto the next game.

Instead, you wanted a game to last you. The riddles/puzzles/etc in many games of the era are the kind you go to bed thinking about, and wake up to a new potential answer. Heck, before point and click we had text adventures where sometimes you not only needed to figure out what to do, but the exact words you needed to use for it to get parsed correctly.

Those were the days. I realize nowadays that's just not how people operate anymore -- a hint of delay and most people run to guides... but there's something to be said for grinding it out old school, even if it is 'frustrating' at points.

Oh, I know. I actually played Grim at launch but I guess 12 year old me got frustrated and I never ended up finishing it. So, I took advantage of this sale and used a guide to experience the story and jokes and to add another platinum to to my PSN. Some of those puzzles, man.... I could imagine taking days to figure out! Seriously. It's most definitely a product of it's time.

I finished it just a few hours ago and the story, jokes, were all top-notch. I REALLY REALLY loved the art style and characters.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/08/31/uncharted-4-launches-march-18th-2016-on-ps4/

Uncharted 4 is out on 3/18/16 with two physical special editions at $79.99 and $119.99 and a digital special edition for $79.99, which includes the series' first single-player add-on.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/08/31/deus-ex-mankind-divided-launches-on-ps4-february-23rd-2016/

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is out on 2/23/16 with a weird tiered pre-order system that is also available for the digital version. There's also a physical special edition for those that want it.

Played both, beat both. If you enjoyed the first one I see no reason why you wouldn't enjoy the sequel.

Gameplay mostly remains the same except for some surprises which are better unsaid. :)

I remember a couple Infocom games that I bought where I seriously was probably stuck in the equivalent of Chapter 1 (if not the prologue) for my entire childhood.

Though I did finish others... good puzzles always feel impossible till you solve them, and then they often seem obvious.

I never got past the first few screens of Tass Times in Tonetown.

The special editions are kind of a letdown. Wanted some cool send off if this really is Nathan's last game. Guess I'll be in for the $80 for the steelbook and art book (which Naughty Dog does a fabulous job on I might add).

I really liked the Uncharted 3 Collector's Edition. It had the ring neckless and a belt buckle. There was also a statue, but I really do not like statue's in collector's editions. It would be so much better if they included Drake's watch for this new one. Just keep adding accessories until you are Nathan Drake.

I liked the game but this is getting a bit funny now. Great if you this gen is your first console but outside of that all these ports, remasters and definitive editions are just white noise to me.

With that said it looks like I will be buying a PS4 this Black Friday unless there is a sweet Uncharted 4 bundle this March.

wait... what? Is this the xbox/ps3 game just in 1080p or a new game?
We probably won't know until it's closer to coming out but considering what most other "remastered" games have been I would expect it to be a straight port and if it's anything more then be happy. If they don't show it off a ton and all the new improvements it will probably just be a port ala Dishonored.

It's the same game. Articles say so and the cover art is the same. Also, I beat it on PS3 and it's not worth $50 or even $20 imo. Incredibly short and stupid easy.

EDIT: On a completely unrelated note my copy of MGS V got delayed for some reason from Amazon. Which works out well since my prime is about to expire, I can now contact Amazon and complain and get an extra month added since it is supposed to have a guaranteed release day delivery.

So I realize it's the end of the month and I haven't gotten any of the free games (mostly because I let my PS+ subscription expire in July). Log in, enter the code from this 12 month card I already had, and now I can't sign in to the web store. So I have to get on the PS4 and the Vita just to mark the games as purchased.

Don't know if I'll bother to hook up the PS3 just for God of War. Hoping the web store works again for me tomorrow morning.

Wish Sony would learn not to fuck up the simple things, like being unable to log in to the web store (seconds after successfully signing in and redeeming a code on it).

Unless you played Deadpool on the hardest difficulty in which the final levels were some of the most brutally unfair and cruel in all of gaming.
