You guys talking about the REmaster? I picked that up day 1. No regrets spending $20 on that. Only ever played the original (no Gamecube), so it was pretty amazing to me.
Yup, I just realized I don't have you on my TT friends list. Sent you a request just now.

Here's an example, but there's likely more. I've had more than one barkeep not talk to me after decisions I've made in their bar.

I suppose you finished the tutorial, since he gives you a unique card, too.
I guess I did? I definitely didn't skip it. I noticed, though, that there isn't a Gwent option for the innkeeper at the Inn At the Crossroads in Velen despite my not doing anything that might have upset him (on the contrary, he thanked me for not starting any fights).

Tutorial gives you Zoltan Chivay.

And yeah, just noticed the Crossroads guy is cool with me again, even though I cut the heads off those dudes. No cards. At least keep an eye out for those others!

I didn't think there were official rules because we aren't filthy communists, but the idea was that it would only be thread regulars in the psnot leaderboard.
Yeah, I can't remember if I've ever deleted anyone from the list or not; I just figured throwing that rule in there would encourage people to stick around and stay active.

Not meant to be directed at you pete, but if there are people on the leaderboard that everyone thinks should be taken off then just let me know. I don't suppose anyone's feelings would be hurt if I deleted eldritch...

I need to send a letter:

Dear Sony,

I'm still waiting on my Vita credit and my PSN downtime games.

I definitely got that one (it helped me get the Geralt and Friends trophy), and I read that apparently you need to be tracking a quest related to challenging innkeepers before you can challenge that one.

The greatest thing I love about not caring for trophies is not being forced to comb guides and threads about every little painful detail and missable secret. I have more fun playing the game than having the game play me.

But what if I want the game to play me?

To be fair, they started it.

post again showing the second one!
No! plus I don't have a ps3 at work.

I'm just glad I'll have more time to dedicate to omega quintet now. talk about needing a motherfucking guide! there is almost zero direction for most of the side quests so far (a number of which are missable / have arbitrary time limits) and completing ALL of them is the only way to get the true ending. here's an example of one of the sidequests (spoilered for long ass):

"Show Me A Skill #1"

Prerequisites:

- complete the last story mission in chapter 3, but don't complete chapter 3 (what?)

- support value of 6000 or greater

Task: Perform 'Dry Sonata'
So here's a few of the problems:

1. it is so incredibly accidentally missable if you're just running through the story. remember, miss one and you'll screw the ending

2. what the hell is 'Dry Sonata'? It doesn't tell you if it's a regular skill (the upgrade tree is like 400 tiny dots for each character, I went trolling through a lot of them) or something else. It's apparently a chain skill which they teach you about in a tutorial in chapter 3. Great!

3. wait, I can't tell how to do 'Dry Sonata' even if I've guessed that it's a chain skill, it's not in any lists that I can find. I hadn't paid attention to the tutorials so I thought maybe I'd get it by leveling up - I didn't. If I had paid attention I maybe could've taken a leap and surmised that it's on some sort of collectible. maybe something called an 'expansion disc'.

4. I have no direction as to where the expansion disc is! I'll go back and read the quest info. I think he said something about how I should train some more (this is why I thought it was related to leveling up). Turns out that it isn't in any of the explorable areas but rather in the 'Training Room' that's inside your main headquarters. Wonderful!

5. Where the fuck is it in this training room? There's 10 rooms blocked by blare force fields, some of them say that you need some random monster item drops to pass. Ok? So I would need to try and find the right items to open all of the force fields to find the right room? Even assuming I could've guessed that I need to go to the far western room, I need to get two 'spike' items of some sort. Alright, I'll get em!

6. wait - what drops a spike item????? GAHHHH

7. Oh, there's a scorpion looking thing in this mob! Maybe he does!

8. (kill like 10 scorpions, no drops)

9. GAAHHHHHHHH

10. (the 11th one drops one spike)

11. phew! one more to go!

12. (more fights, get one more spike)

13. ok, now I can go in to the room with the expansion disc to unlock the skill to be able to do 'Dry Sonata'! Almost done!

14. ...

15. you mean I have to get different weapons and unlock new skills for the characters before I can actually do 'Dry Sonata'???

I already had the money and skill points to be able to get all the stuff, don't worry. I didn't kill my neighbors or anything and with the guide info this really only took like 30 minutes. of course now I can't figure out how to end the fucking chapter so I wasn't really in that much danger of missing it. I'm still having fun with the game though, I swear! I'll just always have the sidequest guide handy.

fortunately gamefaqs nerds seem to have figured out most of this stuff and there's a handy spreadsheet that roughly outlines what needs to be done for all of them.

Why are you playing this?

I need that afrika trophy card in my life
Yep, it matches my afrika theme background which I got for free off the HK store a long ass time ago.

mLqNAq.gif

It's disc only and you have to be careful to get the Natsume version which was the one released in the US, because that is the only version that got the trophy patch.

A lot of those on ebay are the Japanese or Asian versions.

I'll have to get to that from my backlog one of these days/months. Maybe for #NatureNovember?

Anybody pick up Splatoon? Pretty fun, but I seem to be on the worst fucking teams when playing online. Single player is pretty enjoyable from what I checked out. Its got that Nintendo touch.

I have the Afrika Natsume version.  I bought it from Gamestop a long time ago when it was cheap used.  Pretty good copy too.  I wanted to play it for/with my daughter but she lost interest and I couldnt figure out how to progress from the first mission.  Not sure what the fuck I was doing.

Wow this strategy is so stupid that it actually works. I just stand there like Im AFK and take a beating until they get blown up and cant block then I just started swinging and knocked em out. Probably only works on dumbasses that spam those power moves.

I still have my Natsume Afrika sealed. I'll get to it eventually.

Final time I think was 27-28 hours or so according to the in-game clock in Afrika. Still need to go through and read the info and watch most of the video's in the library. There aren't that many mechanics to remember so it's a good game to play for a few days before starting another game. You can follow along with a mission guide if you want, but I didn't really need to other than a couple of times where it asked me to find 3 specific sets of bones that would have taken forever to find on my own. You'll probably also need to look up where to find some animals near the end of the game. Just play, then if the missions stop being emailed to you starting going through and track down animals you've missed and submit them. Some missions won't come in till you've seen or cataloged it.

Just remember to finish the field guide before you do the "Quest for the Nunda" final mission or you could get boned on photographing some animals. Your field guide is 10 pages, if there are any black open spots on it (except page 10 which will have one open spot on the bottom right) then you are missing a sample of an animal. You can tell how many versions of the animal you need (male, female, baby, etc) by clicking on the animal on that field guide and looking at the 3D model viewer. If you don't have a picture of that version that has been submitted, then the 3D model of that version won't be viewable.

We had less participation this month, did we want to take a break or did someone have a theme suggestion for June?

Groan... thanks to grandma's big mouth I gotta drag the kids to this shitty park fair thing down the street.  Jokes on grandma though cuz they're bringing their overnight bags with them.  BOOYAH

Picking up my copy after work. Pretty excited to start it actually.

It tends to fluctuate. I picked up my sealed copy last year for around $50. It was higher before and now again after. I plan on just keeping mine though, I'm a collector and its found its home.

Corpse Party for the Vita FTW
fuck yeah.

here's some insight to the doofiness of the battle system in omega quintet (with harmonics, which has you flush all of your turns at once for damage bonuses and allows for the team-up/chain attack stuff).  as you can see, you can sit there and plan out your attack in menus for a very, very long time.  it's almost disgaea-esque in how the team ups work and the damage stacks.

First mission will be with you the entire game. Every time you photograph a new animal, you click reply on the first email and attach the photo. They give you 3000 credits and add it to your field guide. If they stop sending you missions then just keep seeking out new animals to take pictures of and submit them and eventually more missions will come. New emails only come in the morning after you have gone to sleep in the bed or have camped out in the field.

Missions with red marks next to them are story missions and you have to not only click the email but press OK to make it your active mission. You can only have one active story mission at a time. Then once you take the picture, submit it by replying to the mission email If it is a new animal, also make sure you reply to the 1st email with the animal too.

It's also a good idea to keep at least 1 picture of each animal in your laptop (you can only hold 200 permanently at a time), as oftentimes a mission may later come up that will require an animal you've already photographed.

Just beat normal with Jill. Never saw it happen before but that tyrant swapped my rocket launcher out of his face.
