There's always some random, bizarre nonsense that gets more time than it should at e3. Entwined was last year. They spent 4.5 minutes on it. That was too long.

Funny thing is that it was slotted right between The Order: 1886 and Infamous: First Light. Then they showed LBP3. Entwined did not fit in at all and I've no idea why they showed it, let alone spent that much time on it and had it mixed in where they did.
Someone must have lost a bet.

You have to admit though, now that more people have PS+ subs for online MP on PS4 they don't have nearly the incentive to give out retail games like they had been on PS3. I still think Plus is a great value for the PS4 library alone at this point but you cannot honestly say that the PS3 plus quality is anywhere near what it was 1-2 years ago.
it's all perspective. 1-2 years ago everyone was bitching about the parade of fighting games we were getting. the list whoever posted earlier was a pretty solid list of AAA titles even if some of them are not entirely likeable. Batman AA, Dragon's Crown, Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3 were also within the past year (albeit in July/August). Maybe they'll slow down. Maybe they'll stop the program. But to me the ps3 titles don't necessarily look any better or worse than they have.

edit - oops, I guess Batman was October. so nyeah!

  • PS4 - Rocket League
  • PS4 - Styx: Master of Shadows
  • PS4, PS3, PSV - Mousecraft
  • PS3 - Rain
  • PSV - Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved
  • PS4, PS3, PSV - Entwined.
No slap for me! Not a bad month.
Rocket League FTW! HYPEEEEEEE! That and GW3 make this a good month. I already own Rain so slight slap but the rest look okay.

Of course this is subjective, but I think if you surveyed all the PS+ members in the US, the majority would agree with you.

That being said, that was the entire point of the Instant Game Collection. When it was announced it was a ridiculously good value that got people used to paying a subscription fee to Sony. Introduce the PS4, lock online behind Plus, and slowly cut down on the amount of money you're spending on acquiring games for the Plus library. It's a smart business move.

Things aren't going to go back to the way they were, no matter how much people bitch, whine, and moan. I am actually shocked that we're still getting 72 free games per year, I thought they would have cut back much more than they actually have.

I will definitely check out GW3. I almost bought a few months ago when was on sale but figured it wasn't my type game. But for free I will give it a try.

So you are saying a service that had a huge boost in subscribers due to the release of a new console should be more worried about the games they are giving away for the old console from when the subscriber base was smaller?

Also, it seems like you are moving the goal posts. They are giving out a ton of retail PS3 games as people posted. You are talking quality which is in the eye of the beholder. We both may not care for the games, but we aren't everyone. You realize there is a group that would prefer Yakuza over Arkham Asylum right? Since so many had likely already played AA before it was added to plus, is it really even a better option for Plus just because it is a "better" game?

I'm not saying everyone should be singing the praises of Plus. Like I said, there is not a lot from it I want to play. However, the expectations for under $5 a month (if you actually paid full price) seem a bit out of whack. The sale prices and cloud storage is worth that to me at least. The Plus games are just gravy.

Sony had to have locked up Rocket League for PS+ a LONG time ago. That game has built some huge hype over the past few months, and I don't see any way that being part of PS+ is a smarter business move than releasing the game for $20 and just making money on every unit sold.

I'm really happy to get it, but I bet Psyonix comes out on the short end of the stick on this one, but they were probably under contract and had no choice. Good job of Sony to bet on them.

Well now that they confirmed Black Flag is not one of them, I guess I'll go pick up my order of the $15 AC: Black Flag + Rogue bundle from walmart.

Where was this rocket league HHHHHYYYYYPPPPPEEEE? I only know of it because of the 'SNOT.

We definitely should. Of course I'm going to be out of town for the first 4 days the game is available.

Man I was looking forward to crushing you nubs at the game, too.
We should make it like a 2v2 (3v3 would be hard to match up times for everyone) bracket tourney. Then set up some time schedules to play when all four players are online. I'll throw down some PSN cash for the winners.

Yeah I would trade Styx for AC:BF. Not mad or anything but I think this month MS offering for XBone is more interesting to me then Styx.

BF and Rogue are both a lot of fun. I hadn't played any AC games since 2.

Not necessarily, as a byproduct of all the extra hype and exposure from it being a PS+ title, that may help drive sales of the PC version for people who do not have a PS4 or prefer PC. Especially since it is crossplay, friends who own PS4s can play with/against friends who don't own PS4s.

You don't go anywhere else on the internet.

There's an entire subreddit for the game:

https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/

Here's a 1700 post thread on Neogaf:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1035475&page=35

Not to mention many big time Twitch streamers showing off a preview build recently and I'm pretty sure Kinda Funny has even been talking about it a ton.

Even at my Playstation E3 Experience event, Rocket League got some special hooting and hollering from people.

Gonna throw out the option of having someone stream it as well. Somehow getting all the matches streamed would be pretty cool.

One thing to keep in mind is that we're still in a transition period. Quite a few games are coming out for both PS3 and PS4 that aren't cross-buy, but making the PS3 version of those titles free on PS+ is going to cause a backlash. I don't think anybody was happy to see Thief as a PS3 free title even among the people who didn't want to play that game. We're kind of in an awkward time for AAA games on PS+ because of that.

I think that as we get further into the PS4 lifecycle and less games are multi-generation we'll start seeing the older AAA titles pulled for PS3, or more niche products or newer games that weren't also made for PS4.

No slap for me! Not a bad month.

Well this is my first official slap as I purchased Styx on sale and haven't played it yet. Still, I really like character and my time in Of Orcs and Men and I don't mind supporting the dev so it makes it more like:

Well yeah, most people probably would. But Styx is the runner up PS4 game, not the lead. You'd have to trade Styx for "So Many Me".

If I owned the Golden State Warriors, I'd love to trade Klay Thompson for LeBron James. But to have any realistic shot of making the trade, I'd have to trade Steph Curry.

Before it was mentioned earlier I hadn't made the connection to Of Orcs and Men. Guess I should play that one before I get to Styx for #StealthySeptember.

Interesting local co-op method being used. Two people playing, each using one side of the Vita. I doubt it works well, but I applaud the effort.

I am seriously scared of NeoGaf and Reddit gamers.  So I never venture there.

Also Reddit seems so jumbled to me its very confusing reading their threads.  I sometimes stumble in one or two after looking at all the Gone Wild pics.

Interesting banner ad that most of you dont see:  Astroglide - "sperm friendly personal lubricant"

Someone really is paying attention to some of this dumb shit coming out of my keyboard!

Sweet. Day one Rocket League boosting session. I'll score a goal, then you'll score a goal, then I'll score a goal, then you'll score a goal, then I'll score a goal, then I'll score a goal, then I'll score a goal, then I'll score a goal, then you'll get mad and we'll be done for the day.

Count me in for any Rocket League PSNOT tournament action. I'll have to get some practice in, but I've been itching to try it out after reading Tyler's impressions/videos.

It's M rated and apparently 13 hours so oO&M would probably be a good #JugJul bonus game candidate.

Pretty decent month.  Have Styx on Xbone but haven't played it.  I liked the couple of chapters I've played in Rain so far.  I think I bought it when it was 3.75 in the 14 for '14 sale.  Bought Entwined in a recent flash sale when it was $3 but haven't played it yet.  Yay for Rocket League and Geometry Wars.  Looked at Mousecraft when it was in a Humble Bundle recently and decided against it but for free, I'll give it a shot.

2 1/2 slaps out of 6.

I personally wouldn't have played AC:BF if there was other games out at PS4 launch. But it was a ton of fun and well done. Gears 3 is pretty solid as well just old. As well as Plants vs Zombies. I have whatever one we got for Christmas that one day but haven't tried it. But well Microsoft Sucks I guess.

Great month for Plus. Not sure why all you losers are hating on Mousecraft, it could be a fun puzzler and Curve Studios has a sweet track record. Been waiting for it to hit Plus for a long time.

Rocket League of course is amazing.

Styx looks cool, looks like some simple stealth and has at least tepid reviews.

Geo Wars Vita will be awesome as long as it has a separate trophy list.

Rain is not that bad of a game, but I'm guessing most people own it by now. It is worth a single playthrough though.

Entwined does suck.

4/6 for me makes a really good month. If I didn't own Rain it would be 5/6 good games for me.
You seem overly enthusiastic about this month's Plus lineup. Did that money hat show up?

Some decent stuff but it's not an amazing lineup. I own Rain, SLAP. Styx and Rocket League are cool. Geometry Wars ok. Entwined meh. I don't know what else I'd want free though right now (The Order, Bloodborne, Witcher...lol) and we did just get DriveClub too. Not that I tried it yet.

For the most part you're not missing anything. GAF is great for breaking news before any actual websites do, but most the comments are trash (plus the aforementioned shitposting that runs rampant over there).

Reddit is super not user friendly and if you just started using it now it would be just like facebook. Tons of stupid image macros, pictures of pets, lame videos, and young-person relevant news stories. For reddit to be even remotely useful and entertaining you have to unsubscribe from a lot of crap and subscribe to smaller subreddits that are interesting for you. For example r/Games has some pretty decent and level headed people talking about video games, r/MMA is good for UFC breaking news and discussion as well as live event chat threads, r/nfl is a really good community, and r/reactiongifs still really cracks me up even though it's huge and a default I think.

Indeed. Many people prefer Xbox's lineup this month over Sony's.

Why here's a whole topic about how Sony needs to push for "bigger" (?) titles because Xbox One is giving away a 20 month old game that came packed in with all Xbox Ones purchased last holiday and costs about $5 for a digital copy online.
