EDIT: Did the entire gaming community completely forget about .hack? It seems like everyone's crying "oh noez this is Telltale's Final Fantasy gtfo" when each .hack was released at $49.99 on PS2.

as long as there's some sort of discount on each part, and it doesn't take 2-3 years for each part to release, i'm ok with it. i know i'm going to hate buying each one, and then seeing a special edition all in one box that i'm going to have to buy as well.

yes, everyone forgets about dot hack, most underrated series. they executed the multi part thing perfectly, and none of the games felt gimped because it was multiple parts. i hope that series comes back with the rendering/trophy support.

I didn't play the first 4-game series, but I loved the second series .hack//G.U. Getting those with trophies (separate plats for each game yes please) would be pretty ballin'.

You didnt ask me but ill give you my nickels worth of input.

It plays fine, no slow down so far, only beat the wharf and one other area so far. The only issue I have is it looks really tiny on the vita screen, a little hard too see stuff. Graphics look good and color pops otherwise though. Controls are good as well, as its all buttons and no touch.

No issues with it so far.

I actually played Bastion on the PSTV only so far. I'll play more on the vita today (thanks cloud saves). But so far it plays well. Load times don't even seem that long.

You don't think the other person who might get knocked out of the playoffs would notice you benched the kicker for that game?

I am sure it is tempting since I would think you would still win even without the K so that it wouldn't make a difference, but what if Dez does get enough. I would want to as well, but I wouldn't let myself do it.

I'm man enough to admit, I may have been too hard on Assassin's Creed lately. 

I started on the Black Flag DLC (Freedom Cry). I played through the PS4 exclusive Aveline mission first which was gorgeous and a lot of fun. I went right into Freedom Cry from there and after all my complaining it did feel pretty good to play. I may have to pick up Syndicate at some point after all. I think it's just a control scheme that's weird compared to other games but I had no trouble last night. Forgot how awesome Black Flag was though in general. 

 
everyone here has played ff7 or doesn't care about spoilers for an almost 20 year old game?

i loved ff7 but i never really got too into the story details, but was cloud really a clone of sephiroth or was he just messed up with mako/jenova cells, or what was the whole deal? i know zack was the real deal soldier and cloud never made it into the elite program but when they escaped zack died and he made it to midgar. but aeris was into him thinking he was kinda zackish with the outfit/buster sword, but did aeris/tifa know he wasnt really zack/soldier. i never played crisis core either. and where did zack/cloud escape from, the mako facility where vincent was at, like i forget the bad scientist dude was it hojo was doing experiments cuz sephiroth killed himself and they were trying to make another super soldier like sephiroth. idk. i guess i could just go find some page with the answers. and whats with the 'ancients' was aeris really one or did they not really exist. i have no idea.

Cloud isn't a clone. After Sephiroth went crazy in Nibelheim and gets thrown into the Mako pit, Cloud and Zack become Hojo's new test subjects. Hojo tries to turn them in Sephiroth clones. It fails on Zack since he was a SOLDIER and Cloud gets mako poisoning. Hojo puts them into cryogen and then a few years later Zack breaks them out.

so whats with the whole reunion thing? wasn't sephiroth like trying to pull his clones back to himself. wasn't the real sephiroth up in north crater the whole time until the end when he wakes up and summons meteor but there were like clones of him running around. didn't cloud unconsciously feel compelled to find sephiroth to be reunited or was that just hogwash. idk. thanks man

Cloud had Jenova cells in him thanks to Hojo's experiments, which would explain why he was drawn to Sephiroth.

i have more final fantasy / amano / squaresoft crap in my house than any adult should have but the story intricacies still elude me.

i mean ff6 was Tera an esper baby, whats up with celes powers, is shadow relms dad? and thats just ff6. i love the series but so many plot stuffs. and whats with serge and lynx and harlequin dragon moon chic. and is schala still alive? and how did cloud make it to ivalice ;)  and what bout edea and laguna and squall. and why so many Cids :)

i never looked for it but it is just an over abundance. you don't need to 'look' for it, it is just there always. i dont think i ever saw a tifaxaeris but there is a billion sephxzack and zackxcloud etc ;) i would be reading a fanfic (dork) and then bam dudedude action. its just over saturated. oddly enough its mostly a bunch of teen girls and not gay dudes really that write/draw that stuff. i mean i guess idk

I read a lot of fanfiction so it's impossible not to run into. For example if you go to fanfiction.net and browse the Harry Potter fanfiction section there are 2600 fanfics that pair Harry and Draco together. Those are fanfics that have them marked as a pairing in the fanfic metadata--there are TONS more than that where the author wrote the story before the ability to mark pairings was added, or where the author simply didn't mark things properly. Of the 730k HP fanfics on fanfiction.net I'd be surprised if less than 100k had Harry paired up with a guy. People love to pair him up with dudes from other series as well--Harry Potter/Edward Cullen for example, or Harry Potter/Jacob Black is really popular. So is Harry Potter/random male Avenger, or HP/Sherlock Holmes, etc..

fanfiction is really weird.  there are many areas of nerdland that I can empathize with, but fanfiction is definitely not one.  

on the plus side, that list kind of reads like those 'if they mated' skits from conan o'brien years ago.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen. There were at least 20 of them standing behind their bikes trying to look menacing lol.

Great time, the refs were shit most of the night, but it was still a really good game.

Yeah. I don't really understand the Timbers Army thing. I think it's more of an excuse for people to dress up and drink heavily than an actual love of "futbol".

Mix in a hipster element along with the "everything European is better" mentality and that partially explains it's popularity in Portland.

It saves after nearly everything you do in the game. Blow up something, start a challenge, complete it etc. I am making sure to back up my save to the cloud manually after every few hours. Even though it cloud saves every night automatically as well.

everything about this is a pretty big disappointment. having to build up your own golfer and pick your own stats sucks and removes the ability to tackle different courses with different strengths (i.e. some courses need the long drive characters to get in to good position for shot #2 while other courses that have shorter holes but awful slopes are better with more accurate/spin focused characters). so you'll probably end up making a well rounded character which is totally bland.

walking to the holes is stupid as is driving carts. and fishing. blergh. and they still look like xbox avatars, I'm not sure what happened in their art department.

it must be hard to be them having already made the perfect golf game over and over with their angry corporate overlords demanding they change things to show improvement, but yuck.

the sad thing is I'll probably still buy it but not at release. I hope they listen to feedback though. specifically mine.

 
also xenogears, i mean whats up with krelian/miang/ramses/citan/that green haired nano chic, that sand pirate, grahf, adam n eve, the captain of the ship. all those old ps1 square games were the best when i was a teen and thought it was deep plot

also i need to dork this place up even more to the nth degree and get a flag or plague that says midgar or nibelheim or narshe or something hardcore nerd cool

That is likely why the load times are so horrendous. How large is the save file?

 
Gone Home isn't an adventure game, though. It's a first-person exploration kinda thing. You're just a character returning to an empty house, reading notes and stuff left around by your family to piece together what's happened in the year or so that you've been gone. That's really all there is to it. Full playthrough videos on YT clock in at 1h30m.
